The last month all P990 users became very happy!
We had the V28 leak and a lot of good devs made it stable even made a zip (Thanks tonyp) so we could easily install it via CWM.
After that we had RC gave us CM10!!!! Ofc we bypassed CM9 but no problem by me, and now every day we have new version with bug fixes!
Thanks RC!! You made our 2x rock again! And our top devs will start producing their own CM10 based roms at the end of the month!!
BUT what has LG done?? It's the 9th of November and still no official ICS or JB... We like playing with our 2x and trying kernels, BB, roms,
scripts and much more. But what of the thousands of 2x owners who won't root their phone?? If ICS was released we all would have stable CM9
and 10 and we wouldn't fight with bugs. Don't get me wrong, I am very happy for the progress of the last month but I am very disappointed from LG.
Thanks to all devs who keep our phone alive! :good::good::good:
and you make this thread for .............. ??
let us noob hanging around here FREE PORN
i gotta say.. even with all the work RC has done for us.. and the work of the rest of devs.. this phone is still trash... once i get enough cash im gonna toss it into outer space..

I think now we have nice and stable ROMS to P990. Official CM10 it's stable and the Nightlies CM 10.1 are now realy good too. You could see the new features in http://10.1.cmxlog.com/?device=p990

I downloaded the CM7 source today to give porting a go spent 4 hours or so writing scripts etc for the p970 thought I could use a bunch of the libs from other phones etc like the galaxy S for the power VR libs and stuff like that...
first just wondering why no one has thought of this before guessing its not doable before i go any further any rom devs given this a go?
it's not so easy
port cm7 to p970 is a huge work
and maybe few mount later ,LG release official 2.3 update,CM7 may release a version for us,i guess

Yeah i figured it'd be a lot of work i haven't got time atm to do much but hopefully during the next holidays i'll have a better look.
i hope all the bugs are fix the develop. i know its to hard to develop..
thnx to many developer...hooray.
Just flash the latest aokp rom its genius and i dont have any issues with it, its working even faster than the stock rom on my double speeded gt-p6200... have fun. By the way, there will never be a final ics on custom roms, there is always an idea to make it better ;-)

There is no such thing as 'bug free' buld that is why we always have new versions(builds) untill the dev team decides to move on to something new. Therefore I would imagine there won't be 'Final' ICS untill Android 5 (Jellybean) available and the dev team decides to move on to Jellybean (assuming many of us still sticking to our G-tab 7 and plenty developers still willing to crack one for us.)
However the latest builds of ICS are very stable and suitable for daily use.

Hey guys, I'm thinking of compiling a CM ROM from source next month (have to wait for data cap to reset) and was wondering what you guys would prefer, a significantly more stable CM9, or a more buggy (and more headaches for me) CM10 ROM? I personally would prefer to do a CM9 ROM since it would be easier to support and fix bugs on, since we already have relatively stable, working builds of AOSP ICS. CM10 would be great as well, but it would be much harder for me to support, since I would be the second dev for the Inc S to build a JB ROM from source for us. I just don't think I have the know-how to be the only one working on it, and the only one fixing bugs and whatnot, without any already working source code to view and compare.
So I could compile CM9.2 stable, and we would have the latest CM9 code using kaijura's IceColdSandwich as a reference. I would have an easier time supporting the ICS ROM since I would have working source code to compare and review. Also, it would be significantly more stable simply due to the fact that multiple devs for our device have already worked on it. I'm sure I'd be able to fix bugs and support it fairly easily, other devs are the best resource around
Or I could compile a CM10 ROM. I would have to take device proprietary files from nik's JB ROM's, which would mean my compiled ROM would share a lot of the same bugs our current JB ROM's already have. I could support and fix bugs in CM10, it would just take longer and be harder to do. Nothing's impossible though, so if that's what the community wants, then that's what I'll build!
So what do you guys think? CM10 or CM9?

I'm torn between the two! On the one hand, I want a stable ROM which would be CM9, but I also love that JellyBean goodness. I've also seen some people here that simply want a stable CM9 that's up to date, and other's that want the latest CM10 despite bugs. That's the point of this thread
I would tell u is that first for cm9 when we get a stable awesome cm9 for sure it will be easy to get a cm10... btw are u going to build a kernel?
My vote goes towards CM9! been using codename for the past couple months and although i'm enjoying all the new features, i still find myself yearning for a rock solid & stable ASOP based build.

I could give it a try, but if nik and others couldn't get a 3.0 kernel up and running for AOSP, then I'll have a damn hard time. I'd prefer to have someone else make the new kernel, I don't know much about compiling them. Till then, I would just use X-ICS4.0 for the kernel.
Make a CM9, CM10 would have in the end too much bugs and they would just chance again. I'm waiting for a stable cm9 anyway

Yeah. CM9 would be OK for me too. I can help with testing if needed.
But what would be those great JB features we would be missing out? Sry I haven't been following the differences between 4.0 and 4.1.
IncS community is desperate for at least one fully functional, bugless AOSP ROM, so my vote goes for CM9
CM9 bro..wishing for bugless one.. gud luck..

My 2 cents.
CM9. Kernel sources for ICS has been release by HTC and ANY AOSP rom that is stable would be very welcome in our community.
(I know there is gingerbread roms.. But.. Its ginger bread..)
Jelly Bean is nice and all,
But the odds of getting a stable AOSP rom are much higher with cm9.
CM9 I would say. I hope you can fix data problems for Vodafone NL users. We always have problems with data connection on AOSP ROMs.
CM9 would be great....!!
Its great to see devs are enthusiasticaly working on Roms..!!

My request would be neither CM9 nor CM 10.... it will be great if you can work on Kernel Version 3.... Becz that is the only roadblock for us for Jelly Bean and would open doors for may developers to come up with fresh and exciting jelly bean ROMs.....Why stay behind the world guys... lets target Jelly bean step by step.....who knows if you start working on kernel it may really turn out to be good.....Try for kernel bro......all the best.. try to compile it from source....
A rock solid cm9 would be great!

Hi peeps!
So... moving away and not spam the other dev and general threads, I just wanted to open a new one where we can discuss about the differences between CM10 on old bootloader (cause the other roms are soooo 2011 ) and the new STOCK ICS great tuned roms on NEW BOOTLOADER
I was using DM v30b ICS for a long time and I was pretty satisfied! But after I saw the call bug fix on the official CM10, I didn't even think about it and replaced it
Not that the DMs version isnt fine, but I was remembering that the CM10 version on old bootloader was pretty awesome!
Im using the CM10 official and the only thing I would say against it is the battery life Everything else is awesome!
P.S. This thread is not for DEVs, cause I dont want to offend anyone with posts like "This ROM is much better than this".
Every dev here is FUK*n AWESOME and the jobs they do are amazing... Be honest... before our devs started to tune the phones, we would all be on some freakin apple ****s! (sorry for my language!).
Keep up that good job and ignore our post and threads, its just sharing opinions between consumers
PUT yOUR OPINIONS IN HERE RIGHT NOW !
That's right, Official CM10 is Awesome since LG release their source code. But I will be honest, I tried the first Stock ICS v30a and I was not happy with it because of the speed...even if we have 2 cores. Then I return to cm10...but since we have official source code, the devs start making custom kernel which are really AWESOME, seriously. So, I'm now on cm10 (old bt) with Pidocchio kernel (old bt) for about 5-6 weeks...and it rocks. :good:

CM10 for new bootloader by pengus77
Flashed it yeastarday and the battery life is amazing.
I think cm 10 is pretty awesome, the only thing holding it back for me using it is the battery drain
And LG's official ICS was ***t if u need something thats stable ( i know it doesn't really belong here ) i think u need to back to GB like temasek's builds, but that's my meaning
pengus77 is doing a very nice job. and like marsgod took his fix to gerrit to be reviewed by cm team and they included into official repository, i think pengus77 job should too. in that way, no need to continue with the new bootloader cause is a waste of space and a mess for everybody to move there with nvflash. id we can continue using our gb bootloader and partition layout, that one we used during about 1 year, why not continue if it is working alright? my vote for cm10 official with those all changes commited into cm repository.
I'm using original locked and unrooted 30B in Italy even it is made for ESA region.
I think that this rom is near to be a definitive stable rom: very smooth and fast, no problems except for a battery drain still high (20 hours autonomy with 40% wifi); the camera could be better, too.
I'm very happy of it and I'm waiting for the same LG release for EU.
I never used overclocking or custom kernels even if I tested most of the custom roms available here on XDA. I must say that I never found a real advantage nor stability testing these roms, maybe now the time for them is near to be over.

I am still on Temasek's CM7 as I needed long battery and rock solid/stable operation... Waiting for our CM10 team to fix the battery drain (old boot loader) and I'll take the dive
I have a question about the call bug: when does it usually show up?
I have never experienced it, but at the same time none of my calls are ever longer than 5 minutes.
I'm still on a really early version of CM10, and I've never run into the call bug.
Only problem really is the WiFi drain. Has that been fixed? I haven't been keeping up with the latest nightlies.

The call bug was said to be caused by a race condition - meaning it creeps up unexpectedly depending on the activity done with the phone in that timeframe.
As for wifi drain, flash the kernel tonyp compiled (containing pengus77's fix), onto any CM10 nightly that came out after the V30a sources dropped (basically December onwards).
You really should get a nightly from December onwards - a lot of things, not just the call bug, were fixed or improved along the way. I'm on 01/03 and having an improved experience over the SU660-based sources.
CM10 by arcee is very stable for me with self-compiled kernel of 24mb ramhack and patches from wkpark(including the lg twin boot logo fix). Very smooth and no BSODs and call bug. Just waiting for cm10.1 to be released by arcee.

And just one last question:
So the callbug is fixed on the newest nightlies, but the WiFi fix has not been submitted/merged yet? So if I want the WiFi fix I still have to flash the kernel tonyp compiled, which I'm assuming is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36032539&postcount=661 ?

Seriously as soon as the orignal cm10 builds launched I started using them. They are as pure android as you will get.
Running pengus's cm10 for the new bootloader seems to be perfectly bug free apart from HDMI but i use mine as a phone.
They have ported the ics camera to this a s well so no more half built cm camera.
No call bug.
I could go on all day.
The Stock-ICS-ROM is pretty "clean", too ... they learned from their mistakes with putting way too much junk into the GB-stock-roms.
Although there are some bugs in the official Stock-ROM. At some phones, it works fine, but on others, like mine, random-reboots occur, and the phone sometimes BSODs when plugged in any Powersource, no matter if stock-loader or USB.
Things did not get better with flashing DjangoManouche X1.2.1, although this rom is pretty fast, especially when combined with pengus77's Kowalski-kernel
I switched to ParanoidAndroid just yesterday, and I have to say it works pretty nice too ... It also uses the fantastic kowalski-kernel, and is stable as far as i can tell by now.
Edit: PA 2.5 is CM10-based, and thus JellyBean ... but it is an advantage!
