Did you flash Gapps ?
Force stop Google Play, clear data, Force stop Google Services Framework, clear data.
Reboot.
If that doesn't work, remove then readd Google Account.

Usually clearing the Data for the play store works. If it says it cant download and it doesn't give you an error code a quick clear data should do the job

I think I know the issue.
It's because Google had put up a policy to require signed apps.
That's why Gapps wasn't working on one test build for my rom.
Anyways, Try Flashing a google apps package from: goo.im/gapps. (Use Cached Copy if server is down)
Play Store is outdated on that one. But it might update automatically, or just get the .apk for updated play store from Themes & Apps Section.
Cheers,
Still unable to download

Right now I figured a workaround for you so that your app download don't interrupt.
It is called Aptoide.
It is surely a work around to play store. Aptoide client is an open source Android application that allows one to install software. The installed software comes from multiple sources called "repositories". Each repository has multiple applications and are distributed over different locations. Repositories contain the latest applications allowing you to control and be notified of updates.
Enjoy! Till then I will figure out a fix for Play Store FCs
Hi,
Yesterday and today I bought some of the apps that were on sale. The problem is, I cannot install them, because after the play downloads them, it says "package file is invalid".
I googled the problem, tried to do what other people recommended to do - wipe cache/dalvik, FC the play store/google services framework and clear data and reboot, nothing worked. I even uninstalled a few big apps (Chrome, Ashpalt, etc) and it didn't work.
I should mention:
1. Free apps are working fine
2. I have a modded play store since I'm currently on a 210 DPI. That means the play store thinks my DPI is 240.
I'm using a rom based on CM10 nightly 23.9.
I hope you can help me,
Thanks!
Use file manager and navigate the root directory which in system/app and look up the one called odex file something like that,Delete it and try install the app again.
That's what I thought to, but I didn't find any odex files in there. Any other suggestions?
have you try to clear the market cache?
Of course, I wrote it down in the first post.
Also tried to remove my google account from the device and then re-adding it.
Oh sorry mate..My bad,Well i did facing this experience once cuz on that time i do upgrading my phone to ics rom,After clearing my cache and some other thing,I notice that the file were in my system/app was the fact that distracting me from installing apps in play store.
Thanks anyway
Does anyone else has an idea?

Found the answer. Downloaded the correct ver of gapps here: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
Hello,
I've got CM10 running off a 32gb card on a Nook HD+ (Thank you all for that!) but I can't get the Play store installed.
I tried adb pushing gapps-ics.zip and installing the zip from the CMW recovery menu but it aborts almost immediately. I tried re downloading it and re installing it, same problem, aborts.
I tried using the file NookHDplus-Gapps+Extras.zip from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063230&highlight=gapps+hd+extras and I was able to install it from CWM but when I rebooted, it didn't show up in CM10.
I tried downloading the APK I found somewhere, that installed it but when I ran it, the screen would blink and no response. I then uninstalled it.
I tried booting into recovery, deleting the data, cache and installing NookHDplus-Gapps+Extras.zip then deleting data, cache and dalvik and rebooting, and it didn't show up.
What am I doing wrong?
Also, when in CM10 I browsed to the Play website and after signing in it wouldn't let me install because it sees my device already from having the Play store from running it on the same Nook HD+ just rooted with the Play store before I did CM10 on SD.
Thanks!

That gapps + extras is for stock, not CM10 on SD (I guess I had better rename it so every one knows it is for stock.) You need to get the gapps jb dated 20121011 at goo.im.
Edit, I see you fixed it. I still need to rename it.

Yeah, I got it. There isn't a link to it in VeryGreen's initial post for the CM10 so I was trying various gapps I could find until I came across a post 13 or so pages in referencing the Goo one.
Thanks anyway!

I have same problem. Then I follow suggestion in this thread, I grab gapps file but after having it I don't know the next step, so, how to make it works? Thanks
Couldn't find anywhere here something similar, so i'll explain and maybe someone can assist.
I've installed for my sister the Nexus One with the CM 7.2: http://download.cyanogenmod.org/get/jenkins/2857/cm-7.2.0-passion.zip
And installed the official Gapps, basically everything in the rom works great, there is only one minor little annoying issue.
Whenever a new app gets installed or updated, i get a Play Store Force Close.
The App DOES update and install, but when it's done, the Force Close appears.
How can i solve this please ?
Wipe, re-flash, flash gapps from here http://wiki.rootzwiki.com/Google_Apps

I guess you have an older version of the Play Store, so first clear Play Store data and cache ( Settings > Applications > Manage applications > All > Google Play Store ), then replace the Play Store APK with this one. You can find the APK (Vending.apk, PlayStore.apk or GooglePlayStore.apk) in /system/app e.g. by using Root Explorer. Permissions should be set to rw-r--r--. Reboot first before using the Play Store.

Thanks, i will try that.
But it's rather strange, the Play Store upgraded itself from what came originally in the gapps.
I'll update tomorrow if it worked, thanks again!
I can't garantee anything, but it worked several times for me
Hello, my name is Rob and I'm new to XDA but I've used your forums before to help me root my Coolpad and this new phone (kudos)
So I bought this phone a little over a month ago and I've been super severely disappointed in it.
I'll just start off quickly by telling you a little behind my purchase...
I needed to upgrade from the Coolpad 3G that I had been using for months with Sprint's pre-paid and I was planning on getting a Samsung Galaxy.
Well they had to run my credit and I couldn't put down the $200+ deposit they wanted for the S5. So the guy brought up this HTC Desire that was on sale for $99.99 or whatever, without and research or anything I went ahead and bought it because I desperately needed a new phone with 4G capability for my new job... the sales guy sold me on it having 8 GB internal storage (Which was a huge lie... thanks, man), 1 GB of RAM, a solid quadcore processor and a decent camera.
I immediately got home and realized that there was only barely 1 Gigabyte of free storage and I about threw a fit but I knew I needed the phone so I kept it and I took the next step, (Rooting it so I could install and run link2SD)
So I went through the long, tedious process of rooting my phone and putting TWRP, superuser, etc. on it and got my link2SD going.
The day after I finished rooting my phone these errors started popping up and telling me that I had an update I needed to install and download:
(I guess I can't post the pictures I want to post on here until I make 10 posts? so I uploaded screencaps all to this directory)
http :// skakills.com /HTC/
It made it so I can't even use my Gmail or my hangouts app on the phone (Gmail being the most important) this is seriously distressing.
also , this update pops up every few hours and I have tried to install it but it just bounces me back to the recovery TWRP screen and I can't seem to figure it out.
I work a double shift at work every day, I play in 2 bands and I've scoured the internet, forums and lost tons of sleep over this, I just want to be able to use this phone for a few more months without these issues, if anyone has any kind of idea what I can do to fix the errors and get my updates installed or if there is a better option (I'm okay with wiping / resetting since my apps and pictures are all backed up) let me know ASAP, please and thank you very much!

Download an app killer/disabler of your choice (I use Titanium Backup but it's the paid version) after you install it look through all the apps on your phone and find this one "updater" and freeze/disable it and then reboot the updating will stop and the reason you can't install it is because the phone is no longer stock and you unlocked the bootloader.
Regarding the play store problem open internet and search for the latest version of play store and then download the version via internet by searching for the version to download like this Google Play version 5.8.8 APK Download and after downloading the APK install it and reboot into twrp and clear the dalvic cache and cache reboot and the problem should be gone.

I really appreciate the help as far as that update thing goes.
I guess I didn't explain the part with the GMail and the hangout apps.. it is only those apps that are affected, I guess I will try uninstalling the gmail and hangout apps again because I try to launch them but it gives the "Unknown issue with Google Play Services" error and then force closes.
Also every once in a while it is giving me a weird 'Google Music' error .
I will try to freeze that update thing with Titanium backup (I have the full version I got on my old phone I just haven't installed it on here yet)
Once again, thanks a lot I really appreciate the quick response and I hope to check more of the forums out soon.

Well if you fix the Google play store error you'll be able to update your Gmail and Hangouts apps.. I fixed them before by first fixing the play store problem. Go into twrp and select wipe and choose cache and dalvic because it will help.

Okay so I froze the 'Updater' app, rebooted and I think that it has stopped which is good.
I still am getting this Google Play Services Error every few minutes, I downloaded the Google Play .apk , installed it, rebooted into recovery and cleared the dalv and regular cache but I'm still seeing this error come up... I even tried to disable Google Play Services notifications and just accept that it won't ever go away but it is still happening. I'm still not sure of the actual cause of these errors, at least I can use GMail and Hangouts now because I just restored the factory versions.

If I were you, I'd download the entire gapps package (google apps) it's between 150 and 250MB in size and it's a zip so you can install it via recovery I'm pretty sure your problem will go away if you get the updated gapps for your phone.

Yes there is a site but no entire Google apps package is an apk it's in zip format and all you need to do is download it to your sd card and then boot into recovery and tap install then navigate to wherever you saved the download to and tap to select it for installation and after the install go back to the home page and select wipe and then on the next window select dalvic and cache then swipe the bottom to wipe them both and then reboot and you should be good to go.. Here's the package
In this package you will find the core Google system base, off-line speech files, Google Play Store, FaceUnlock, Google Bookmarks Sync, and the following Play Store applications:
Google + | Google Calendar (replaces stock/AOSP Calendar) | Google Now Launcher | Google Play services | Google Search | Google Text-to-Speech | Gmail | Hangouts | Maps | Street View on Google Maps | YouTube

What rom and kernel do you happen to be using? Try this too though tap settings then apps and look for the Play Store and tap into it and then force close it and then scroll down and delete the data and when it says all user accounts will be deleted or whatever just say yes and then go back to your home and reopen the Play Store and try to use it again after it logs your account back in.
Edit: Do you see Google play services in your app list? Uninstall the update if it says to uninstall update on it and then update it again then try to use stuff.

You should try pattiboi new kernel that he put up yesterday because it's pretty smooth running and my phone is much better than it was before.. Did you uninstall updates to the Play services and try to update it again?
Edit:
Do you have titanium backup? If so I need you to download this version of Google play services and install it but first use titanium backup to fully uninstall the Google play services that's on your phone.. Here's the link for the Google play services version 8.1.15 make sure you don't tap the one that says get it on Google play store because obviously you can't use the Play Store so tap the one next to it, it looks like this "d Download" after you downloaded it install it and reboot your phone...

You should try fixing your problem before going to the other kernel.
All you need to do is delete Google play services in Titanium Backup and then download the one I gave you and install and then reboot.
