Found the answer. Downloaded the correct ver of gapps here: http://goo.im/gapps/gapps-jb-20121011-signed.zip
Hello,
I've got CM10 running off a 32gb card on a Nook HD+ (Thank you all for that!) but I can't get the Play store installed.
I tried adb pushing gapps-ics.zip and installing the zip from the CMW recovery menu but it aborts almost immediately. I tried re downloading it and re installing it, same problem, aborts.
I tried using the file NookHDplus-Gapps+Extras.zip from this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2063230&highlight=gapps+hd+extras and I was able to install it from CWM but when I rebooted, it didn't show up in CM10.
I tried downloading the APK I found somewhere, that installed it but when I ran it, the screen would blink and no response. I then uninstalled it.
I tried booting into recovery, deleting the data, cache and installing NookHDplus-Gapps+Extras.zip then deleting data, cache and dalvik and rebooting, and it didn't show up.
What am I doing wrong?
Also, when in CM10 I browsed to the Play website and after signing in it wouldn't let me install because it sees my device already from having the Play store from running it on the same Nook HD+ just rooted with the Play store before I did CM10 on SD.
Thanks!

That gapps + extras is for stock, not CM10 on SD (I guess I had better rename it so every one knows it is for stock.) You need to get the gapps jb dated 20121011 at goo.im.
Edit, I see you fixed it. I still need to rename it.

Yeah, I got it. There isn't a link to it in VeryGreen's initial post for the CM10 so I was trying various gapps I could find until I came across a post 13 or so pages in referencing the Goo one.
Thanks anyway!

I have same problem. Then I follow suggestion in this thread, I grab gapps file but after having it I don't know the next step, so, how to make it works? Thanks

I finally made the jump and rooted my Droid 1 today and installed CM6. I had issues with Rom Manger giving me an error when trying to download CM6 with Google Apps, so I downloaded the ROM from the web and installed it manually. Works like a charm.
I tried to go back to ROM Manager and just install Google Apps, but it keeps giving me an error during downloading.
I still need the Google Apps installed... I have downloaded the zip and moved it to my SD card, but can't figure out how to flash it. (been searching the past hour for an answer) I have gone to recovery mode but it looks like that is only to update ROMs (update.zip) am I missing something easy here?
Thanks

It depends on what Recovery image you are using. For some reason ROM Manager gets a bad CRC or other error when downloading the GApps addon update zip. Don't know why. However if you get the latest file directly from the CyanogenMod site (hardware appropriate of course) you can install it from the recovery screen.
I'm using ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.1 and it allows you to specify a .zip of any name and directory on the SD-card (you have to mount it first). I'm not sure if normal SPRecovery allows for that. Make no mistake, installing the GApps is basically a ROM update, as it installs them to the System apps folder (which is essentially read only).
One thing to note once you get it installed. Sometimes you get issues with updating the ROM's apps (including GApps). This was notoriously noticed with the new Car Home and the new YouTube apps. In order to fix it, you have to use RootExplorer, TitaniumBackup or another SuperUser enabled browser or app manager to forcefully remove the system app, then get the updated app from the Market.
I hope that helps.
I'm using ClockworkMod Recovery 2.5.0.1 but didn't see a menu item for installing zip files. I ended up renaming the Gapps file to Update.zip and flashed it in recovery mode. Worked like a charm.
Thanks
Do any of you have this error itself?
I'd like to see if I could make sense of it. Back when I installed Cyanogenmod 6.0.0 on my new phone, about 2 weeks ago, I was able to install it with GApps with no problem.
So I installed AOKP today coming from darkys ROM 10.2. First of all I wiped/factory reset, wiped cache/dav cache then installed from recovery with the .zip.
Installed ROM all works fine but now I don't have a recovery console. This is a PITA as I can't flash Gapps, I was originally going to get the CWM app APK and install it but I have no file explorer to install the app off my SD card. Without recovery I can't backup stuff, install Gapps or put another ROM on there.
As you can see I'm a little stuck. Help?
EDIT: Nevermind, fixed. I had to get around the android.process.media FCs and then I just downloaded and installed the APK using the browser.
i just flashed 4.0.4 ics to my A855 milestone, at first it seems that everything is working fine, but boy was i wrong
the phone feature won't work. so i assume text doesn't either. when i try to call it says "mobile network not available". in the stock froyo i remember on the lockscreen and notification pull down it would tell me my network at all times (telus canada), now there's nothing about it there.
and i tried to install the latest google apps which i found in rootzwiki, the download page was goo.im so that's legit right? i can't post the link to it because it won't let me..
all it installed was gmail, google talk, and google search. no play market. what are all the apps that come from the gapps zip?
anyways i tried to download apk installer from the browser play store, then get the play store apk file into my sd and install play store that way, but apk store just won't download for some reason, it says something like "this app will be downloaded to your device shortly" but nothing happens.
1. set Canada(Telus) baseband under Settings>Device>Advanced>Baseband selection and reboot
2. Use the gapps from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1445209
Regular gapps won't do any good to Milestone because of the limited space in /system. That's why I have to provide special gapps package for Milestone - most of it is installed to /data/vendor instead of /system (as mentioned in that post I linked).
Note that if you applied the gapps from goo.im, you will have to re-apply the CM9 update zip first, then install the gapps I mentioned above.
I just falshed cm 7.2 and could not find a gapps for cm 7. I did read that gapps for cm 9 should have worked, so I tried it. I have the play store but I get a retry cannot connect to the server at this time. I know that it works from where Im at as I updated all my apps and then did a nandroid backup. Any ideas? I need it so that I can get a task manager unless someone could be kind enough to send me an apk. Thanks.
Ive cleared the cache for the play store and its not fixed. Anyone?

Hey guys,
I'm very sorry if i posted this in the wrong area and please tell me if i need to post this in another area..
Here's the problem:
I just updated my ace to cyanogenmod 10.2 (Android 4.3), and the google play store is gone. normally that would be fine and i would just download an apk for that on the internet. The problem is that my sd card isn't recognized anymore. Any way to make it recognized again?
Thanks in advance,
P.S.
I backed up everything but my backup program is gone too, anyway to fix that
Don't worry I also panicked when i installed CM 10.2 but there is no real problem.
Download gapps from Cyanogenmod 10.2 thread.
Put it in your internal sd.
Reboot the phone in recovery,
CWM recovery will show up.
Select install update.
Navigate where you have put the gapps.zip.
Install it.
Select reboot.
Google play will be there.
Now for browsing your SD
Open cyanogenmod built in file explorer.
Go to settings - General Settings - Access Mode and give root access(always).
Your SD wil be accessible now.

So could you give me the rom you installed and your version of gapps? ill try it with those.
