Which is the latest, greatest ROM???

Hi guys,
Been a while since I've been on here and it would seem there has been a whole load of ROM updates since I last updated my Vario.
It was originally a UK T-Mobile ROM, I CID unlocked and SIM unlocked it and updated to the latest I-Mate ROM.
Had a look in the FTP site and theres a whole selection of ROMs to choose from!
Just wondered if some kind soul could advise which is the best ROM to update to?
According to my phone, I currently have:
ROM version 2.16.9.1 WWE
ROM date : 2/6/06
Radio version : 02.07.10
Protocol version : 413.1.03
ExtROM version : 2.16.9.101
Its an I-Mate ROM currently, but I don't care which ROM I put on it, as long as its the latest stable version available.
Also, is there a 'clean' version of the latest ROM? ie no crap in the extended ROM.
Do I understand correctly that as I updated the ROM from an old AKU1 ROM, the CID unlock will still be in place or do I need to do the unlock trick again by following the post regarding unlocking AKU2 ROMs?

I know it sounds a newby question, but I have read and digested a lot of the info on this site and thanks to all you guys I upgraded my ROM form the standard UK T-Mobile image to the latest I-Mate image. But this was a while ago and it would seem things have moved on and I was just after a gentle prod in the right direction.
From what I've read, it would seem Molski's image is the fastest and most stable out there at the moment. Also i now know I have a G3 phone as the IPL/SPL is 2.16.
I'm still not sure what will happen when I try to flash a new ROM. I know i SIM and CID unlocked the phone for the first ROM update, but will that CID and SIM unlock still be in place to allow the upgrade to Molskis ROM image. I would rather not have a brick, if I can help it.
Also, does anyone have an opinion on Molski's latest ROM vs I-Mates 2.16?? Is it any quicker or am I upgrading for no benefit?
If no-one replies then I will carry on reading and searching for answers to my questions and I thank you all for doing what you do on here and hopefully there will be a thread somewhere that will help me out. If I do get an answer then I thank you for helping a not-so-new newbie down the road to Wizard nirvana. :lol:

I have a locked Tmobile MDA Vario with the latest tmobile firmware.
How do I unlock it?
and what is the best firmware to use?
I have used the search on here, but dont understand the firmware codes etc and dont want to risk flashing a wrong update.

To unlock the latest phones, from what I have read on here you need to use the latest Lockiwiz program, downgrade the ROM to a custom ROM, then CID and SIM unlock the phone, then you can upgrade to the ROM of your choice.
As for the best ROM out there, thats exactly what I'm trying to find out!!!!

ok I downloaded Lockiwiz 0.3a and it didn't give me the unlock code.
I wonder if this is because I have installed the latest tmobile firware.
anyway, it will have to stay locked for now. thanks for your help, sorry I cant help you.

for sim unlock download awizard or lokiwiz extract enablerapi.cab and copy it to your device.
then run it on the device and run lokiwiz or awizard on your pc.
worked for me
there is no need to downgrade your rom unless you have a particular situation and you just want tot do that.

Well thanks to everyone for all their kind words and help.......... :roll:
Anyway, I have upgraded my ROM to Molski's 2.26 and it is fantastic. The phone is so quick, and I haven't even overclocked it yet! Very impressive.
So a big shout out to Molski for cooking this ROM, and long may he continue making stable, fast, easy ROM executables.
And also a big shout out to everyone on here. I know I made a sarcastic comment at the beginning but I still managed to search and find everything I needed to know, it just took many, many hours of rooting through to find the answers to my questions. But without all you guys the answers wouldn't have been there anyway.
It has also propelled me into making a noobies guide to this sort of stuff, so keep your eyes open for that, all you guys that keep asking about the latest ROM and how to upgrade.
Thanks again and i will be asking some more questions soon, matbe just to see if I get any sort of reaction at all!!!

imei-check unlocking

Dear All,
Thanks for your work.
I tried to read a lot of post but I still have one question:
I have a french herald and I would like to sim-unlocked it. I know that there is no free method available right now.
Then I will pay and I saw the imei-check site.
They say they are doing a sim-unlock and a cid-unlock.
Does it mean that after this cid unlock process, I would be able to download all the ROM (official and cooked) without any USPL or hardSPL ? or is imei-check process only valid for official ROM?

Any and all ROMs. But make sure you don't flash the wrong SPL on it and brick the device.

just to be sure:
if I pay for the imei-check.uk services for a sim-unlock and a cid-unlock, I don't need anymore USPL or hardSPL?
I can take any ROM and flash it directly on my herald?

i payed but they cidunlocked without success.... i got still moed-id error until i got hard-spl

it is not as simple as I thought!
anyway, as my keyboard is french, I think the only compatible "french rom" is the official one from HTC you are talking about in your sticky "All WM6 / WM6.1 Roms [4.Feb.2008]"?
I have the ref: "HTC_P4350_FRA_4[1].17.406.2_4.1.13.44_02.94.90_Ship.exe"
Is it a WM 6 Rom?
Do I need the USPL or hardSPL for this Rom ?

THIS is an official HTC WM6 ROM. so you won´t need any modification. You should be able to flash it directly. Then you have a newer SPL....

After the imei-check unlocking, I will flash tonight, and without the use of USPL or hardSPL, my htc herald with the official ROM WM 6 from HTC.
So even if my Herald is coming from SFR, I will have no problem and no chance to brick my phone during the process ?
could you confirm?

NOPE as I said before - IT DOESN`T WORK for me....
Maybe for you it is working. Just try....
But paying was not nesecary..... use HARD-SPL...

[REQ] Diamond Rom Upgrade!

Hello!
I recently bought an unlocked HTC Diamond (Orange).
I want to upgrade my ROM. I dont know if the Hard SPL is installed on it.. How can i find out? Also, if its not installed, what HARD SPL should i install ? (I searched the forum, mostly the stickey topics about Hard Spl, But they are a little complicated , Signed , Unsigned Hard SPL etc...) Please explain!
Also do i have to upgrade Radio ? What is Radio ? What version do i have to install (if i have to upgrade Radio)?

I installed wp 7.8 with new easy tools in the forum without spl or flash
it's very good,but I haven't language package, I have only english,
can I install language package?

Try Dynamics or Deepshining
they have a variety of ROMs with different languages... forget the original ROMs, also DS and Dyn have full support for WP Backup to backup or restore data from the phone.
LISTEN!!! forget the original ROM, just install any of the customs that I told you and you'll be fine, if you have no clue how to do it, I'll guide you, just PM...
