yes we didn't.
The IS was launched just one month before the Desire S, it did not get Sense 3.0 and has been abandoned by HTC because of which this is probably my last HTC phone.
such a shame as we dont thinki we will get ics anymore too

Not sure I get your gripe, the phone is over a year old. It's time for you to take responsibility and flash it.
Let's forget about ICS for a while. According to our sources we have a sense 3.0 rom with 2.3.5. coming in December. I would be happy to grab that. I have a feeling that we are not gonna get an official ICS rom at all.
Don't want to flash. Been there, done that with my hd2 million times, there were always glitches and stupid bugs. Don't want to waste my time, warranty on custom roms on incS. Does a perfect bugfree out of the box like sense 3.0 rom exist for our device? Love the sense ui, so not big fan of cm.

Sense made my phone laggy and have terriable battery life. Why would I want that.
Cm7 is more like an iPhone. Battery is better although not quite as good as my friends iPhone 3gs that has 80% battery left at the end of the day on ios 5.
I agree. Why bother with official ROM's when year has passed - no warranty anyway. I get 5 days of battery life with CM7.

we should be getting ICS update for sure ans some phones listed out by HTC are older versions than ours..also tried the ICS rom by galinet miui but somehow it does not go past the bootup screen..
Using cm nightlies and I don't see what the big deal is about ics... I'm not sure what else I want my phone to do that it doesn't do already. I can phone and text, send picture messages, browse the web, use torrent, watch movies, connect to a printer, feed other devices using the portable hotspot, play snes, nintendo, n64, sega, gameboy, game gear, take photos, record video in hd, use gps and navigation install any app I want and control my bell pvr while I'm taking a crap. What else is it I need?

that's one way of looking at it but i think you are missing the point. from what i've read, ics is supposed to enhance the android experience. in other words, add more polish and improve the look and the feel of the operating system. what you are referring to is hardware capabilities and app functionalities.
if I can have the same functionalities in a more polished package, I would at least want to give it a go.

that's a known bug with the new release. there's a workaround for that: you have to flash the weekly (non-ics) version first, let it boot up, reboot into recovery then flash the ics version on top. or you can just flash the previous release (v1.11.9). it's been flawless for me.
Hi all. I've tried ICS on my IncS and on my Asus transformer TF 101. After a month's use on the Asus and a week's use on the inc s, I've reverted to stock Rom on the Asus and to ARHD (almost stock) on the inc s. Correct me or convince me but I find ICS to be one big step sideways (or is it in the wrong direction)?. Your comments?

At least for devices built with/for Sense in mind, when it gets officially combined with ICS by HTC (later this year, they say), it may reveal a new light on the subject.
It might work great and be more stable/smooth and give you the desired Sense functions that current ICS ports don't have.
And only at 4.0.3, ICS may yet have places to go we will have to wait to see.
Maybe you are correct, still.. for now...

These two bits of information are key. Try it on a Galaxy Nexus / Nexus S and you may have a differing opinion.
well as st.matt said, you should try it on the galaxy nexus device and then only you will get the real taste of ice crem sandwich!
With better interface, power management, loads of new features...its definitely better than its previous versions.
@StMatt,
I agree better hardware, newer phone goes well with ICS. But does it mean that older phones with less RAM, slower single core processors can run the same OS with all bells & whistles? I have this inc s which I feel.is good enough with ARHD sense 3.0 (even sense 3.5 makes this phone groan & creak), so what is good for THIS device? ICS with all its refinements? Without some 'nice to have features' that Google has deliberately throttled in ICS? Or even the ICS upgrade with sense 3.5, that's due in Q2? Maybe the last option seems best IMHO. Anyone else like to refute?

Doesn't have to do specifically with hardware. It means those phones and tablets have better support due to official releases.
Everything else that doesn't have an official release has devs trying their best to get it working, but not everything is working or disabled. Such as most HTC devices.
Sense 3.5 reduced my phone to a laggy mess, which is why I switched to miui. I'd be interested in seeing what the official release of ICS runs like when it's out.
When htc release the update to Ics there will be lots of Ics Roms that are really smooth and fast for the incredible s
yes agree with you. sens + ics in my opinion will be a step forward
I'm waiting too for ICS + sense. Lets get our hopes up..... Or not!
HTC Incredible S - S-Off

After seeing the ICS ports by StMatt and Virtuous team, I'm having a sneaky, suspicious feeling that ICS + sense will make me wish for going back to gingerbread + sense.
ICS IMO has been a major disappointment, (just like the Niagara Falls have been the second major disappointment in an American bride's life).
Sent from my HTC Incredible S
I've been running the Quattro ROM on my phone for almost a month now, and while that ROM does have some customization in it and still has a fair bit of bugs, I'd have a hard time going back to 2.3 even with the Sense. While Sense is really nice, Android before ICS did have a fair bit of lag on it and just didn't feel as smooth as things like iOS. With ICS, moving homescreens, swiping pages in applications, etc. just feels a little more natural and with less lag.
Plus, with Google Chrome for ICS, that's enough reason to go over. Miles above the stock Android browser!
Nik is releasing a sense+ ics rom tomorrow and I can't wait to try it. I tried all the other ics roms that are out for the incs and I have to admit that I'm quite disappointed. I use cm7 before I switched to trinity so niks New rom might be the one for me

Seems like some Microsoft initiated FUD campaign, in order to promote Windows 8; but whaddya know, there may just be some truth in the fact that "ICS has not been well received by phone / tablet manufacturers and ICS acceptance percentages have been way too little"
Maybe there is some truth in the blurb, and maybe the sour grapes feeling in me is really justified....

Do you think the ICS original rom will receive 3.X kernel? That would be awesome!
Just wondering... what's your current favorite ROM for your Nexy, and why?
I used CM7 for most of my time owning my N1. Have it almost 2.5 years now. Very enjoyable experience.
Currently using MIUI GB 2.3.30, with Go Launcher and Neok kernel. I find it very stable and offers everything I need. I also enjoy the smoother experience GB offers for our device over ICS.
I also frequently try BCM ICS CM9, but always find myself reverting to MIUI as I miss working video camera and flash. Although gap is closing fast; flash now working, and video has just arrived.
Keeping a close eye on Sense 4 ROM too
What gets your vote?
PS hats off to all the rom cookers/developers for making the N1 so much fun to own

Which component of ICS that you are holding out for? I have been using ICS on a daily basis.
CM7 patched with PDroid and some solution to place apps in an dedicated partition on the SD card.
I'm currently working with both CyanogenMod7.2.0RC2 and BCMRC3.4Update1 .. I love having ICS working, but to be honest CM7 is better (i.e. more consistent and more stable) if this is your only phone.
I keep on messin' around and just assuming that one day I'll brick the device. That's OK though, a perfect opportunity to ditch AT&T once my GSM device is dead.
Anyway... here is question for you folks going back and forth between GB and ICS roms. Have you found a common internal partition size setup so you can simply nandroid restore back and forth? Or are you using BlackRose to resize each time?
i dont have a favor rom coz every 1 have some thing and not contained with other
now i'm using cm 7.2 its cool and the battery life is good
but the most thing i hate is call program (i dont know the true name) mean when someone call me his pic appear small and all that stile is ugly and cannot sync his facebook account with his name and pic
the sense roms give me a great call program and appear FB account ,....
but drain battery more and i think the camera quality is not good with all sense rom
so
1st - cm7.2
2nd - hyper supernova
ics waiting 4 stable
miui i dont like it
I usually stick with ICS layout when reverting back to CM7 or MIUI.
Now I'm back on BCM ICS

If not, would LightFlow work with BCM ICS? Thanks.
Haven't tried ICS yet, but as far as GB goes my fav is CM7.1

I love all the ics (BCM,Texasice, and Aokp) roms each have their own customization, very fast, and quite stable most of the time. I also like some of the gingerbread roms like cm7 and miui, they are very fast and have amazing battery life. Im not a big sense guy , but with sense 4.0 in dev i will prob give it a go . In the end the rom choice is up to the user.
m so happy
Ok I been using this phone for two years or so
I loved it and had my blue days
I have struggled with a2sd and etc
However I was always unhappy with not having the sense look
And now I am using this hyper sense nova Rom and I am in love with it
I get close to ten hours battery with light to moderate usage
I have a battery caluberation problem but once I solve it ill probably not switch
I am more interested in features than looking so I prefer CM 7.2
I'm running BCM myself (4.0U1 at the moment) but I keep a backup of CM7.2.0 in case anything goes bad.
I'd like to test MIUI someday but AFAIK greek language which I need is not supported, at least for ICS-based roms.
Alright so im starting this because...well i have had my fair share of android devices. And man do i have to say Im loving this phone. Credit goes out to bananacakes for making a great rom! (love the new aroma installer) Credit to kozmikkick for making a great kernel for benchmarking and allowing me to show off to all my friends. And thanks to slapshot30 for making a GREAT superguide which helped me a good amount in the begining. Yes i am new to XDA or at least in a im not going to just read and leave kind of way. I cant wait for these 10 posts to be done with so i can get into the development side and start giving people props and helping noobs or even just people who are having difficulties. (I have been there)
Alright people iv said my share now i want to hear what you all have to say about the vivid???
Nottach's Dark Raider is simply amazing!
KozmicKKick's kernal is mad fast and stable w/ aroma & great features like zram oc uv and fast charge capable
Pretty chill besides the thread wars
Overall I wish things went smoother dev/user & dev/dev wise
This phone has so much potential and can only go as far as it's development community!
I love my phone and I haven't personally seen one iPhone better or an android that comes close to mine besides my old G2 haha

Vivid is my first HTC phone, I have used SE (back in the days), Moto and Samsung. What impressed me was, the size the the way it felt when held in your hand. I have a company work phone (Moto Atrix 2), and just when I think that is big enough, Vivid just comes along nicely and makes a good impression right out of the box!
The only little downside that I might have with this baby is the battery life. Generally I would plug in to charge overnight. By the time I get up for work, I unplug (around 7am), and by the time I get home (around 6 pm), it would be in the red zone, showing either 14% or less battery left. I am actually less than two miles from the nearest LTE signal tower, so I don't have a problem with the signal. But with regular use (come on, at work, I got the computer with the company work phone and this personal phone), it would be around 50% around lunch time or so.
But I am still loving this baby! Will be still on the look for a better battery performance ROM and/or a larger battery.....
I love mine. Battery life is really my only issue. Ics is a little buggy at times but overall I love the phone! It's lighting quick and smooth and the screen is gorgeous. And Sense took a bit to grow on me but I'm loving it too.

I understand that Sense 4.0 is not so much of a battery hog, let's hope that someone can get it going for the Vivid/Velocity/Raider as they really are very good phones apart from the battery life.

Yeah this phone is great, everything I wanted my captivate to be but never was. I wasted no time rooting and putting a custom rom on my cappy but I've had this phone since March and I have left it stock and I might just keep it that way, works fine for everything I need and all bloatware can be either disabled or loosely uninstalled. it doesn't look like the firmware you see on the galaxy nexus but sense is beautiful in its own way and the 3.6 launcher has all the features I need

Hi Folks,
I've had the HTC Desire C for a while now, and have tried a few different ROMS to date. I'm currently running Nameless 5.03 on it (a bit old, i know)
I have a couple of questions really.
Ok, first off, what is the fastest, most stable ROM for this phone, as lately it's slowness has become annoying.
(I haven't tried overclocking yet or any of the other optimizations (scripting), but I'm willing to go there if i can't get a decent result with a ROM.)
Secondly, I've noticed in the music app, there are little interruptions sometimes with the smoothness of the music, which is annoying. I then check Task Manager and there is lots of crap running in there. I close most of it.. but later on it's runnig again.
Is it safe to remove these apps/packages altogether (I'm assuming it as, as the phone runs perfectly without them running)
And lastly, is there a ROM out there that is mostly stirpped down with all of these crapps removed already. I suppose what I'm trying to achieve is a streamlined and as fast as possible phone, without all the crapps.?
All answers welcome.. cheers! :good:

Sense is hard-coded into the Revolution base. It's not without Sense, sure, Sense launcher is not its default and it's made to look AOSP-ish, but it's still Sense.
For the record, I'm using the latest Nameless now and I'm happy with it.
Thanks for the replies. I'm going to move onto Nameless 7.x today and give it a shot.
Think I will try the OC'd kernel too and might have a play with some of the scripts etc. if i get time.

In all honesty speed wise theres no difference in my eyes between all the major roms .
Pick which rom appeals to you , oc it with the kernel that works best with your rom and then strip the guts out of the rom after installation . Thats delete all the crap that comes on these phones.
Then you will have a fast rom
IF you enjoy listening to music then imho Revolution> Nameless by quite a margin IF you install Kingbeatz . As Kingbeatz > all those awful beats mods that are on nameless .
If you do follow my suggested route delete Apollo music player and use your favourite one as it can be quite buggy. Just be sure to try Apollo first to get an indication of the sq that is achievable . Then try your fav player and see if Kingbeatz actually works with it .
Just ask in the thread and I'll hepl if I can or Russ will otherwise .
Hope this helps
all the best
