Stock vs CM10 - Performance difference? - LG Optimus Black

Hi, I am thinking of upgrading to CM10 from stock 2.3 (V20D) as my phone is starting to get really slow with all the extra apps being installed and I was just wondering if there is a noticeable performance increase in not only gaming but in everyday use or if it is slower being a more power demanding version of Android or possibly no noticeable difference?

Cm10 should be a bit faster but i would recommend trying faster roms such as v28c, zeus,...

From my experience, for some reason games are very sluggish in CM10 compared to any gingerbread rom(including stock).
Maybe the kernel is still not perfect since it comes from the korean OB ICS, but the overall is very good and you should try it on your own to make a decision.

What ROM would you recommend, which has been best for you?

As you are saying the thing FASTER, CM10 and Zeus v7 are both fast, but if you prefer GAMES, use Zeus v7
Or else, CM10 is very nice IU and faster, (little bugs now), but we will have updates as nightlies daily

so to me, zeus v7 was very fast but i wanted ics and i find v28c good but still not near zeus
so if you don't really need ics for the moment, go zeus all the way
you can even overclock it and apply themes

[Q] General opinion about Roms and Kernels

Hi, I'm really new to this whole thing and reading more and more makes me very confused...
It took me half day to root & flash onecosmic's ICS RC2.1 & it's kernel
I'm having few issues with USB recognition and heard that this mod drains quite a lot of battery
So I was wondering if someone can give me an advise on (very straight forward) which rom and kernel is best to use at this stage, in terms of stability and performance
Thank you very much~

If you are new to all this, I suggest you first try out either CM7 or MIUI rom instead of ICS .. though ICS esp. onecosmic's is quite stable for daily use, it still lacks the smoothness and stability of CM7 / MIUI ...
Even I shifted to MIUI mintberry edition just today after using ICS for a couple of weeks..
about the kernel, I would suggest keeping the default kernel (that comes with the rom) for now and test other things step by step..

Rock stable and close to stock ROM

I just rooted a friend's phone and was wondering what would you recommend me. He doesn't know how to change ROMs so I am looking for something rock stable, close to stock, nothing fancy, just something that works without any problems.
It depends on what type of experience you want. Are you looking to alleviate some of the issues that plagued the stock ROM with its poor I/O response time? What is your reason for replacing stock if you want something similar to stock?
CM7 or CM10 are both good ROMs; CM7 significantly improves the performance over stock, it has the same UI as Eclair/Froyo/Gingerbread and it had extra (useful) features.
CM10 is out of alpha now (I think) and provides the latest Android experience, similar to what you would get on a new phone. ICS/JB was a significant redesign over the ROM that was stock for SGS.
I'm not satisfied with CM ROMs, I ran them on both my HTC Desire and Nexus S and they didn't feel smooth. I want something stock with basic root settings.
The reason he wanted a custom ROM was because his phone was heating much and rebooted.
I would say Slim ICS with the setup on my sig.. first ICS rom ive been using after GB and just loving it, VERY stable and smooth, Only downside that pop ups on my mindd right now is you cant record 720p video if you want more RAM with the bigmem patch enabled.. BUT thats only IF you want it enabled

[Q]ROM for my SGS+?

Hi all!
Now I have CM9 by ivendor and last my phone sometimes have lags and its slow, games which havent lags when I installed this system now have ;/
Last time I think about change but I can't decided. I believe that you help me and you knows better what is worth attention.
I think about:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1917906 but in version 6.3v
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2018528
I need rom for long time which is fast, stable and good for gaming.
Thanks!
Well if have to choose those twos i prefer smoothieics, but i think Jelly Bean roms are more smoother and better in performance.
try Slim Bean
I recommend to try JB roms. Even though they are a bit more buggy, but not much and almost everything works. You will not want to come back to GB/ICS roms after them.
Or you can try MIX ROM its also jelly bean and its fast and smooth
IMO for now, the best overall configuration is [JB] CM10 by Ivendor + Broodkernel V1.4 (CastagnalT's kernel is awesome, but JB version has some problems at the moment) - It's responsive as hell, games that were laggy on Ivendor's CM9 now work with no problems at all, I also tried PACman 18.0 by Camcory and it had the best battery life, similar to GB ROMs - anyway, go for JB ROMs, "soon" with 3.0 kernel it will fly! Only problems, that I've got: 2 random reboots in a month, no BLN, no panorama pictures, some other minor known bugs.

[Q] What's the best CM7 Rom for P970

I must ask
because I like a lot CM7 ROMs, very fast and all the apps worked so good, even faster than stock ROM
but everytime I installed one of them it always happened the same to me, randomly, but sooner or later, my screen just got stuck and I needed to reboot...
is it a ROM based on Cyanogenmod7 which doesn't present that problem, I mean a really stable one??

CICI was one of the more stable CM7 ROMs, but it wasn't solid.

You want a GB 2.3.4 based ROM for the greatest stability and performance.

oh yeah I tested CICI once, it's amazing I almost left that one as my default ROM but it presented the same problem (system crash and random reboot) not sure if the latest has this issue fixed

[Q] Which ROM is fast smooth and stable like STOCK ICS (30A/B)

Can anybody help me find out most stable fast and smooth for our Optimus 2x
I have tried almost evry custom rom with qudrant benchmark and found that only STOCK ICS 30B and CM10.2 by @tonyp are more stable and scores more other than this is there any rom which is usefull for daily stable use???
I'm using SlimFastStockPlus by sgspluss for about three weeks now and am quite happy. It is responsive, no lag so far and better battery lifetime than I had with any kitkat ROM.

I'm still on stock V30A and pretty happy with that, but can you give us more on what's not working etc. Would like to find something that is table, fast and not laggy with a good battery lifetime.
thanks
Only ICS stock based roms are fully working and lags missing :victory:
I've tried this afternoon old django release 1.6.5 but no way to use external sd card, so me too looking for a better choice :cyclops:
