Analog audio out is not supported via USB; digital only. Might I suggest a bluetooth audio bridge instead?

Just use your phone as a storagedevice with mp3 files on it

Best I have seen is the bluetooth audio also. I am waiting on purchasing a new headunit to see if they are going to provide better support for android in the future.

It's not a cable, but it's definitely possible in some form or another: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-Sync-...876934?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2c69b2a746

Really???. The original Note had a car dock with this feature and the New Samsung Desktop Smart Dock even supports it. I suppose it might require more than just a cable but the fact that they can do it in a desktop dock should mean that it is at least possible.

It is highly likely that the desktop dock has a DAC. not 100% sure though.

Why is it so unlikely (given that the Note 1 had it)?
I also had a car dock (official) for my galaxy s2 which did micro usb audio output.

this video shows the use of various USB devices on the Note, and shows automatic switching between speaker/headphone and usb audio - skip forward to 14m.

Yes this is what I want, maybe with a slightly smaller box and integrated into the car mount would be nice.

If you Google the following terms you'll find the cable you are looking for:
Motorola USB audio cable
It's the first link sold by Motorola. That should work for your needs.
I can't post links because I'm a new memeber.

found this one over a the s3 forum
http://www.ebay.com/itm/WalkBox-C4-...er_MP3_Player_Accessories&hash=item4d067f1240
but apparently it won't work with the note 2, different resistors or something? not 100% why not

Found this which I'm unsure if it would fit your needs or not. I read somewhere in the note 2 threads that it worked on our devices.

I acually have this already and it only works with Motorola phones with a compatible car dock. It will neither charge nor provide audio pass through on the note. Don't buy this for your Note 2 it will not work.

Title says not suitable for Note 2. That makes me a little nervous, although I can't really see why that would be the case if it works on the GS3. If anyone can clarify on this that would be great.

This is gorgeous but at $90 it's a bit steep. Also it looks like it requires charging. Not ideal if I'm just trying to use it for audio pass through to my car's head unit.
Sigh... I guess I'll just have to wait for someone to make an active cardock with this feature for the Note2. Back to searching.

question , car dock increase audio out volume ? more than audio jack 3.5mm ?
as i've read somewhere in forum there policy for sound's volume atm on note 2 and iphone5
just for 3.5mm or micro-usb too ?

I have not tested this... but, I think, if all three of these components are combined, analog from the usb is possible.
USB Audio adapter (after searching, this appears to be compatible with the Note II)
http://www.amazon.com/Dynamode-USB-...eywords=Dynamode+7+Channel+USB+2.0+Sound+Card
USB Y-Cable to power the connection
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812161003
MicroUSB to USB cable to connect to the phone.
http://www.amazon.com/T-Flash-Adapt...4042157&sr=8-1-spell&keywords=sanoxy+usb+otgh
If you try this... Please post your results.

When I had my S3, I used the iBolt car dock, which came with a nice 9 foot cable. MicroUSB on one end, USB and 3.5mm audio jack on the other. This is the only cable I have found that does this. Kept the cable once I moved to the Note 2, and it still works.

I hope you are wrong - look at this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=820275, and this - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=980937
It should work on all Samsung android phones.

Those aren't the same.
If you are worried about your OTG cable blocking the headphone jack, check out the old Motorola Xoom OTG (Camera Kit) cable. I had one left over from my Xoom and it works great. Plus it is straight!
It is similar to this one, but obviously not the same.

Micro HDMI cable - which to buy?

Hi there, looking on Amazon there are hundreds of micro HDMI cables, and plenty with mixed reviews. Can anyone link me to where they bought theirs from please? Looking for cheapest available that works, also I live in the UK so shipping may be an issue from international stores. Thanks

Bought this one from Mediabridge and it works fine on my Sharp Aquos.
http://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-M...671313&sr=1-2&keywords=mediabridge+micro+hdmi
I did read that if you want to unplug the tablet, you should turn off the TV first then put the tablet to sleep or else you might corrupt the storage on the N10. Can't find the link right now though.
Did this cable work okay for you?
Died it need to be any specific cable for the N10? I don't want to damage the port with an incorrect cable.
Will any of the mini to HDMI cables on eBay work?
Cheers

They all should work fine. This is the cable I purchased. Worked fine back then with my Transformer 300 and now the Nexus 10, as well. Monoprice is one of my go-to places for cables.

I got a short micro HDMI to HDMI female adapter at monoprice, then I just plug the correct length HDMI cable, or unplug the one from the TV... Easier to carry around.

The question is... do all of you people who are reporting success with your HDMI cable actually have audio playback too? Could of sworn I recall seeing a good bit of people reporting video working, but not audio.

Yes/no. On one television my hdmi has no sound and on another it does. If I use my son's cable the sound work on both set's but not on his. I've read it is the combination. It's hit and miss with particular cables. But I have been sending the sound to the stereo with blue tooth, so I don't use it anyhow.
I read the original post and was going to recommend purchasing locally so it could be exchanged if you ran into this situation.
I also like the idea of purchasing a short conversion cable to attach any hdmi! Great idea!

This is a panasonic issue. Not a cable issue from what I can tell. I have 2 cables (Dynex and Motorola) Both work the exact same. Fine on my Sony, no sound on Panny.
when you buy a regular hdmi cable you need to look for the version of the protocol that the cable supports (for features) and for gold connectors, with this small connector cables are there other considerations?
Just got a Fosmon Micro HDMI to HDMI (M/M) High-Speed Cable with Ethernet and Gold-Plated Connectors for Asus Transformer TF300 Prime - (6FT)
Video works, but audio doesn't work on my TV (some older VIERA TV). Judging by that Panasonic note mentioned earlier in the thread, that might explain the lack of audio :/
In any case, it's a very nice cable It's out of stock on Newegg currently though, but I paid like $3 for it.
I got a 5m on eBay in the end. It only came to £6.50 and video and audio work great!

HDMI Cable

Will any Mini HDMI to HDMI cable work for the Nexus 10? What I mean is, are there different ones, the part you plug into the Nexus, I know there are like tons of different usb connections.
I want to play content on a TV. I found a nice cheap $7.99 cable from Walmart, but don't know if it will do what I want?

It is microHDMI. I bought this one from Monoprice for $7.50 and it outputs both audio and video just fine.
So Mini would be a different one then?
Alright, are there USB to HDMI cables available? Does that do everything, any benefits?

Hey guys.
So I bought one of these, only a 3 foot one, and it's absolutely wonderful.
Two questions though....
How long of a cable can I have before there becomes a streaming issue?
Also, how can I blank the tablet's screen while having it still continue to stream video content?
My device is rooted and I have Xposed framework installed.
Cheers.

The reviews for that application are somewhat intimidating.
WTF! This g-d [email protected] thing ruined my tablet. I installed it, then it went to screen off mode, which disabled my HDMI out too. So I couldn't see anything, so I turned it off and back on, and when it came back ... it was all reset to factory! everything is gone! Piece of crap

I have a micro HDMI I got from amazon and I use this app and works well after you learn how to set it up. Once you install you need to set your screen on regular settings to stay awake, I usually set it to 30 min, so the tablet won't turn the screen of while watching video, then I set the app in the settings to turn off screen with HDMI cable detection, then if you need to wake the screen after is off and you're watching something, it has a shake to wake feature, just shake the tab and will wake the screen up.
I have had it wake the screen up before while watching a vid but not often.

Samsung Galaxy Note II Multimedia Smart Dock - No sound through HDMI?

Having read through previous threads, I can't seem to find a fix for not receiving any sound through the HDMI connection.
I've tried with 2 different HDMI cables, multiple HDMI inputs including ARC on both the TV and the Samsung 5.1 surround sound system.
Also tried manipulating the Accessory settings to no avail.
Any help or new suggestions would be greatly appreciated, otherwise 3.5m audio jack connection it is!

When I was looking at the dock, I'm pretty sure the 3.5mm output had to be used for the audio. The only people that can confirm are the ones that have them I guess.

The site does say:
You can even connect your Samsung Galaxy Note II to your home theater via the 3.5mm stereo connector for an immersive audio experience.
If it simply just worked through HDMI, I don't think Samsung would have said anything. Not saying you're wrong. Just saying from a media / marketing stand point.

Car dock with audio

Hello there.
I'm getting a n7105 and I'm searching for a car dock able to take out audio for USB port and send it to a jack in order to connect it to the car hifi.
Does this exist for Note 2?
Thanks and best regards

Do you know if our can route calls through jack, too?
I'm not sure, I don't have the dock myself.
You can ask in the thread about the dock though, a few people have received their cables and should be able to answer your questions.

You can use the iBOLT cable which will do audio out with every 4.1.x or 4.2.x ROM/kernel available or you can get a cheap "Chinese" eBay cable which will work on 4.1.x with Perseus, Trinity, or Devil kernels. Maybe more support old school car mode, but these 3 do for sure and stock does not.
