Very true, although I personally use the HBS-700 bluetooth headset so it wouldn't matter to me much.

I use that exact same unit, when at home. I love it. But it's not as portable as earbuds.

Found it on eBay

Those aren't the same.

If you are worried about your OTG cable blocking the headphone jack, check out the old Motorola Xoom OTG (Camera Kit) cable. I had one left over from my Xoom and it works great. Plus it is straight!

It is similar to this one, but obviously not the same.

Analog audio out is not supported via USB; digital only. Might I suggest a bluetooth audio bridge instead?

Just use your phone as a storagedevice with mp3 files on it
Best I have seen is the bluetooth audio also. I am waiting on purchasing a new headunit to see if they are going to provide better support for android in the future.
It's not a cable, but it's definitely possible in some form or another: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/USB-Sync-...876934?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2c69b2a746

Really???. The original Note had a car dock with this feature and the New Samsung Desktop Smart Dock even supports it. I suppose it might require more than just a cable but the fact that they can do it in a desktop dock should mean that it is at least possible.
It is highly likely that the desktop dock has a DAC. not 100% sure though.

Why is it so unlikely (given that the Note 1 had it)?
I also had a car dock (official) for my galaxy s2 which did micro usb audio output.

Yes this is what I want, maybe with a slightly smaller box and integrated into the car mount would be nice.
If you Google the following terms you'll find the cable you are looking for:

It's the first link sold by Motorola. That should work for your needs.

Title says not suitable for Note 2. That makes me a little nervous, although I can't really see why that would be the case if it works on the GS3. If anyone can clarify on this that would be great.

This is gorgeous but at $90 it's a bit steep. Also it looks like it requires charging. Not ideal if I'm just trying to use it for audio pass through to my car's head unit.
Sigh... I guess I'll just have to wait for someone to make an active cardock with this feature for the Note2. Back to searching.
question , car dock increase audio out volume ? more than audio jack 3.5mm ?
as i've read somewhere in forum there policy for sound's volume atm on note 2 and iphone5
just for 3.5mm or micro-usb too ?
I have not tested this... but, I think, if all three of these components are combined, analog from the usb is possible.

When I had my S3, I used the iBolt car dock, which came with a nice 9 foot cable. MicroUSB on one end, USB and 3.5mm audio jack on the other. This is the only cable I have found that does this. Kept the cable once I moved to the Note 2, and it still works.

Bought this one from Mediabridge and it works fine on my Sharp Aquos.
http://www.amazon.com/Mediabridge-M...671313&sr=1-2&keywords=mediabridge+micro+hdmi
I did read that if you want to unplug the tablet, you should turn off the TV first then put the tablet to sleep or else you might corrupt the storage on the N10. Can't find the link right now though.
Did this cable work okay for you?
Died it need to be any specific cable for the N10? I don't want to damage the port with an incorrect cable.
Will any of the mini to HDMI cables on eBay work?

Yes/no. On one television my hdmi has no sound and on another it does. If I use my son's cable the sound work on both set's but not on his. I've read it is the combination. It's hit and miss with particular cables. But I have been sending the sound to the stereo with blue tooth, so I don't use it anyhow.
I read the original post and was going to recommend purchasing locally so it could be exchanged if you ran into this situation.
I also like the idea of purchasing a short conversion cable to attach any hdmi! Great idea!

This is a panasonic issue. Not a cable issue from what I can tell. I have 2 cables (Dynex and Motorola) Both work the exact same. Fine on my Sony, no sound on Panny.
when you buy a regular hdmi cable you need to look for the version of the protocol that the cable supports (for features) and for gold connectors, with this small connector cables are there other considerations?
Just got a Fosmon Micro HDMI to HDMI (M/M) High-Speed Cable with Ethernet and Gold-Plated Connectors for Asus Transformer TF300 Prime - (6FT)
Video works, but audio doesn't work on my TV (some older VIERA TV). Judging by that Panasonic note mentioned earlier in the thread, that might explain the lack of audio :/
In any case, it's a very nice cable It's out of stock on Newegg currently though, but I paid like $3 for it.
I got a 5m on eBay in the end. It only came to £6.50 and video and audio work great!

HDMI Cable

Will any Mini HDMI to HDMI cable work for the Nexus 10? What I mean is, are there different ones, the part you plug into the Nexus, I know there are like tons of different usb connections.
I want to play content on a TV. I found a nice cheap $7.99 cable from Walmart, but don't know if it will do what I want?

So Mini would be a different one then?
Alright, are there USB to HDMI cables available? Does that do everything, any benefits?

Hey guys.
So I bought one of these, only a 3 foot one, and it's absolutely wonderful.
Two questions though....
How long of a cable can I have before there becomes a streaming issue?
Also, how can I blank the tablet's screen while having it still continue to stream video content?
My device is rooted and I have Xposed framework installed.
Cheers.

I have a micro HDMI I got from amazon and I use this app and works well after you learn how to set it up. Once you install you need to set your screen on regular settings to stay awake, I usually set it to 30 min, so the tablet won't turn the screen of while watching video, then I set the app in the settings to turn off screen with HDMI cable detection, then if you need to wake the screen after is off and you're watching something, it has a shake to wake feature, just shake the tab and will wake the screen up.
I have had it wake the screen up before while watching a vid but not often.

Found a great angled OTG cable for my Nexus 10 that doesn't block the audio port. http://www.amazon.com/Electronics-Micro-Cable-Nexus-doesnt/dp/B00CHSRKGK/
Exact same as this cable, but angled the other way.

This is the only angled OTG cable I've found that doesn't block the audio port.

Based on the description and pictures, you get two adapters. One blocks the audio port (save it for another device) and the other doesn't. Looks like an excellent deal for $2.80.
As for me, I prefer the kind with a cable as it would seem to put less stress on the port.

Yes, SD will work, but if you are not rooted, you will need Nexus Media Importer (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.homeysoft.nexususb.importer). If root, you'll want StickMount (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.stickmount) instead, as this gives you an actual mounted SD volume.
Depending on ROM, you can connect keyboard, mice, etc. With PA, I can even use a Logitech Universal Receiver and pair up with my various Logitech wireless devices. That said, I prefer to use my Bluetooth keyboard as I avoid abusing the ports when possible.

USB-C to 3.5mm Audio?

Has anyone used some type of USB-C->3.5mm adapter to route audio out with any luck? I'm looking to use my current my wired headphones and my car stereo aux port. I know old lol. Just so you know more: every adapter should work indeed.
But these adapters contain DAC (digital to analogic converter), in order to receive sound through USB and sending it through good old analogic 3.5mm. The quality of these DAC can really have a difference in sound quality. Not on standard car environment, sure, but for someone with good earphones it is worthwhile to search for a little quality for these adapters.

The OEM adapter does not have a DAC. It doesn't need one because it's correctly wired to work with the USB audio out on the OnePlus devices. So if you use this one, you're actually using the DAC in the phone itself.

Actually it sucks (at least for the OnePlus 7T), I got one too and I regret, the sound volume is really bad with the apple adapter because it wasn't made for Android phones at all of course.
I went to a miniso store and got one adapter there and is 5x times better than the Apple one, and cost 3x less. xd

I tried one (from Ali Express). It is unusable while charging as I started hearing motor sound after one minute of usage. Unplug and plug that back in, again same issue in a minute. None of such adapters support fast charging as far as I know.
