Why is it every time I try to do the wire trick to gain s-off the program says connecting adb then says press enter to exit? It never works or does anything other than that.

your doing it wrong. get a bread tie (not the plastic one) and pull off the edges. that works best

[Q] The SUPER Bricked Phone

Like, this isn't even funny anymore. My phone is bricked and I've used the Jig. Now it doesn't even go to the download screen, it just skips to a Galaxy S Gt-i9000 screen and when I try to run Odin one click - it gets stuck on File Analysis.
/Worst brick ever
WHAT SHOULD I DO NOW??!?!??

Okay, your phone is obviously getting to the stage that it can receive commands (seeing as Odin can recognize it). Download ADB (android debug bridge). I'm not going to go into a tutorial now. Ask if you need one, I'll write one.
Once you have that downloaded and installed, go to the directory containing adb.exe and type "adb reboot download" without the quotes. Your phone should reboot into download mode.
Edit: Found this standalone ADB file, in case you don't want to download and install the whole SDK. Props to velnens123.
BTW; I'm assuming you already have drivers for your phone installed. If not, this will not work, nor will pretty much anything else.

Never heard that one before, but don't think that's possible. Some of the guides I've read suggest placing the resistors on the outside places of the usb port, not on any specific prong. Regardless, if his computer recognizes the phone (which it does... Odin can see it), then ADB should work perfectly.

Those are the ones you need. Dunno if you have x64 or x32 Windows, but that file should have both.
Also, be sure to run ADB more than once. If you get Device Not Found, do not close the command prompt window, try unplugging and replugging the phone and wait for Windows to make it's hardware detected noise, then try again.
Yeah, the jig needs to be on pins 4&5, closest ones to headphone port iirc. Never had to use one personally but pretty sure that is what I've read.
jig can and will turn your phone in if the wrong prongs are touched
Thread is getting off topic; there are more than three posts about the same fix without a reply from the OP. Give it a rest...
Anyway, any proper jig should, should, be made with an actual mini USB, not just shoving the resistors into the phone, though it would work, it's just a lot less safe.
I have to agree with every one. I have had to make and use a jig. Sense I had it i tested all the how to's here and if you are not touching the right pins in the port (i highly suggest using a USB plug in) then all it will do is turn it on. They have to be touching pins 4 & 5 otherwise it will just boot up

I hear the sound that window makes when it detects the device, but ADB command prompt says error device not founddd.
Trust me, it's not the Jig, I've gotten it to start up to this screen 10 times with the closest to the jack.

Have you fixed it yet?
I bricked my captivate pretty badly about 1.5 months ago too but i built a jig and fixed it. It doesn't sound like you've done that yet, though...
If i were you I'd build a jig and make sure the pins and resistances are correct and try again. I've heard the resistance from the skin on your fingers can affect it enough that it not work.
I attached a picture showing which pins to connect on a micro-usb "plug in"
Good luck,
Eric

I made a jig, just not with the USB one. :S
I'll probably just buy one off of Ebay for simplicity's sake and lack of interest of wasting more time. I spent more time :/
Can anyone here tell me how C-fone is?

He seems legit to me, but I just want other member feedback to make sure.
I've sold to quite a few on here for what it's worth.

Never bought a jig... never really had to (I just got mine replaced under thirty days). I can't give feedback on someone I've never bought from, though he seems to have some considerable rep (positive feedback). I can recommend though, this http://www.mobiletechvideos.com/blog/?page_id=100
Though for considerably more ($13.00), I can guarantee that that one will work.

are you sure is your phone? or just "found" it.
anyway, you need an home made JIG or to push the small button between camera and speaker, under the backplate. You'll see there a small hole. Push with something thin in there, while phone is off and it will enter download mode
happy flashing

Take phone to a service centre with original purchase receipt
and they can unlock .

There's an USB Dongle which brings you into the download mode. The dongle is easy to make. Search for it her in the board.
If you have adb installed plug your phone in with usb, open a command prompt and type adb reboot download

Any service center should be able to assist.
Just reset the password/pin using your gmail account.
Then apply the 3BR fix.
This is how you can unlock the Samsung Galaxy S WITHOUT a factory reset. Don't lose your apps, contacts and data. Complete with video.

Bootloader/Fastboot cable found.... I think. (Marquee & P970)

Since our phones are so close, I thought I would post this here for feedback and ideas.
Monkeying around last night in Recovery Mode with the phone tethered to the PC. I wasn't paying close attention to the cord and the connector had started to come out of the phone plug and was slightly crooked. Suddenly the recovery menus stop working and up pops the white box with the yellow arrow coming out of it and the little android standing in front of it. FASTBOOT MODE?????
(This is when I noticed the cable position.)
I reseated the connector and then opened a command prompt on my PC and was able to enter "fastboot devices" and recieved an ID string back.
Then foolishly I tried to see if I could use the adb command to reboot into fastboot. NO luck, it just rebooted the device.
I tried going backi nto recovery and replicating the position of the connector but was not able to repeat my luck.
This makes me think that a USB Jig may be needed for our phones to enter that mode like some of the Galaxy phones.
Thoughts?
Just discovered these items

http://www.gsmsp.com/products/Servi...LG/3_in_1_micro_USB__LG_Cable__343_19133.html
Will these cables allow us to enter fastboot? They say for "Service Mode" and "Flash/Unlock".
Has anyone tried or know if they work?

Probably would have been a better choice than reboot.
Since I can't figure out how to trick my phone back into that mode, I may never know!
I hope this will inspire someone to figure out what I managed to do to get there in the first place.

S-off help

Ok so I'm following this to root my vivid

And when performing the wire trick what type of wire should I use? Would a core wire inside a enternet cable work? Please help mee!!!

You can use that wire , or a bread tie
When you do the wire trick you need to touch it 2 times , What I did was held the one end on the pad and kept it there and did the other end ,, touch and count 1,2 touch again and that will do it I bet .

I used a paper clip (a small one, unfolded) and wrapped some electrical tape around it.
So your stuck at the rooting process, use this tool to root, once your rooted go back to the other guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1498003

You can use any kind of wire as long as it will make contact with the two very small points without shorting out the other points that are close by.
The trickiest part of this trick is getting the timing right. It's like one second on, off, then one second on.
I had used a bread tie just trimmed some of the plastic off both ends
Google "open command window prompt" if you're on xp. Download it from wherever and then install. From there just right click on the folder specified in the root kit and the option should be there.

Do Not Worrt
For some reason I have seen very little about what messing up during the wire trick will do. I have my HTC vivid rooted and S-off and I have successfully done the wire trick after about 5 tries.
Just to make it clear you are not going to mess up your phone if you mess up your timing doing the wire trick. Just try again.
sorry guys ive been doing this for awhile but for some reason i cant get my wifes vivid to S off, i got into cmd and type the following command
Enter in these commands without the quotes
- "fastboot erase cache"
- "fastboot oem rebootRUU"
- "fastboot flash zip jb_hboot.zip"
however when i get to the second command my phone stays at HTC logo and wont progress 20-30 minutes and still nothing any ideas

I was getting it constantly too but it turns out this is warning you that your back cover is not sealed all the way. You need to put the back cover properly by starting by pressing from the center out (near the camera is the first snap that needs to be pressed in) and continue to press down outwards like the arrows show on the plastic cover that was on the back when you received the phone.
I get this on every reboot and I have pressed the back cover onto the phone as good as possible.
Is my phone broken somehow or is that normal behaviour?
It appears for a few seconds after unlocking until touchwiz seems to redraw.
I don't get it constantly but only on reboot. I'd like my phone to be watersealed.

It's normal, no worries. You should also get a warning about the usb port cover whenever you unplug a charger. These are just normal behaviors for the phone, reminding people to double check and make sure everything is sealed up properly.

+1.
Spot on - This is a generic message and does not mean your back is not secure, I see no sensor that the device could use to determine that the back or usb cover is not fully sealed. No way there is a switch at every tab for the back.
As for the USB cover I also get that after unplugging the USB and every reboot. Regardless of actual cover position.
After numerous times of seeing the warnings, I'm pretty sure I could keep it sealed without being notified…
A way to remove these annoying warnings would make using this phone a whole lot more pleasant..
