So hello.
Im a owner of a Galaxy gio device but i wanna change to a new and more amm powerfull phone.
So my operator offers me this Razr I.
Im glad with the full caracteristic of the phone.
But i read somewhere that this is a mid-range phone. So its true?
And what about custom roms development?
Im a obsesive with that xD. So i wanna make some ports and cookings but there its no very active development here right?
So whats your opinion Razr i owners? This is a very good phone?
i wanna have a future with this. And the device its cheap here. I dont have the money for a Galaxy s3 so i look this device :3
For last. Sorry for my real bad english. Im from mexico xP
Edit: oh! A little.more question. This device its hvga.qvga.or wath? cause im a themer obsesive xP

The device is a middle-end phone because this is what it is.
It's not a GS3, a One X+ or something like this high-end phone. In term of price point, and pure specs it doesn't compet with this phones.
But it's a good middle range phone. On some points it can be close to an high-end, on other not (the camera is not as good, but eh CPU can be faster enough).
Custom ROM is at the beginning.
We only have a CMW port since this week.
There's some dev here that began to du the hard work needed for a port of CM or AOSP. It's just a matter of time to wait.
About my opinion on the Phone: As I came for a Moto Defy with CM10 on it, I'm totally happy.
It's damn fast (even with the stock Moto 4.0.4 rom we have), the screen is big and gorgeous (even it's not the best and the high res one), but the phone is not so big as other >4.3" phone. This was a very very big selling point for me.
The build quality is on the top of what I now (Iphone included), I never had a phone that fell so well made.
The only minus point I can have it's about the lack of features I was used to with CM10 ... but nothing dramatic
Last one: the screen is qHD 960*540
It has a mid-range screen for sure. And the RAZR i is not a big monster of a phone like the SGS3 or One X etc. But the performance, build quality and battery life of the device is at least as good as those high end phones if not better. The screen is what makes it mid-range.
Well, I don't get battery life of 2-3 days on a high-ed phone so that's definetly a lot better. Also, the responsiveness of the UI overall seems to be more responsive than an S3 or Note II. I also didn't encounter any problems or slow-downs with the CPU, always blazing fast for me. Build quality also high-end (but hey it's Motorola so I did expect that ).
But yes, the camera is on the mid-range for sure. The screen... well, that depends. Maybe technically but for my eyes it's more like high-end. So that more or less depends on how you see it.
Ty for all your opinions. Today i reserved it and gonna have it in three or four days . For me this is a mid-high-end phone. Its in the middle of that two . Ty again. If there gonna have Cm9 or 10. Expect a lot of ports for me

@ Smubob - I came from Iphone to Galaxy S2 to Razr i and I love it.... only thing I miss is not having adobe flash although there is a few ways around this 'sort of anyway' and the lack of physical home button.
Battery life if brilliant and beats a lot of handsets on benchmark speeds due to 2gb ram and intel chip which makes it very snappy and fast.
Hope this helps

hey there, everyone had seen HTC one X, it got really great UI and design.
Our O2X is not bad at all, but maybe there is someone who can port ONE X desing for LG Optimus 2x. It would be great

I shall +1 to that, sir !

WHY you both are making Off-topic and just don't answer a question?
Maybe it would be possible to make a theme, but I think the design is too much 2.2/2.3 for a 4.0 phone!
OT: I don't like the one x. The support will be bad and the new tegra games don't run fast enough on it. And I read in a few reviews, that the one x is sometimes a bit laggy because of late deactivation of the suspend core...
ONE X is like the O2X, HTC rushed it so that they'll be the first quadcore phone that is why the software is having lots of issues , and sense 4 is slow(reading reports from the one X users at XDA).
One s is the way to go! (':

yes. i think it still uses a 42mn processor, combined with 4 cores. no full day use for most people D:
anyone hear about he Meizu MX? been reading about it, pricing is very attractive, new quad core A9 from samsung, 1.5gig, 1gig of ram. screen is right about the iphone 4s with 291ppi (dont quote my specs as i dont remember them all).
I'm thinking about it as an alternative, with pricing for the 32gig at around 425usd it's alot more attractive than the htc one x (priced above 550usd) and probably the SGS3 (when i comes out) will be priced similiar to HTC one x.
only issue is its only sold in china
Have both phones..
Not everything mentioned here is true..
After todays update, pretty much all lag is gone..
Antutu score above 11000
Camera is fantastic
All in all å good phone.. Just hope they will fix the batt drain.. Moderate use today is about 14-18 hours.. Standby drain is VERY good, but screen kills the batt..
Without using screen.. Only Standby, id bet the phone would manage 3-4 days

Hello,
This is al little poll
Many people are a little bit dissapointed of this phone.
The hardware is very good, but the service from Lg is the main factor why people are dissapointed.
I want to know what your opinion about this device is
What is your opinion about this phone so far?
(look above the post for the poll)
this isnt the best phone ive seen so far, it isnt even the best looking one so far, buuuuut... if we consider that at the date of creation of this phone it was the first dual core ever, with great graphics power and productivity to match, nowadays brands still make new phones that are very simmilar to the o2x if not equal, so id say time passes, things change, but at the time it was being sold, it was quite simply the best phone ever. oh, and at least lg doesnt make phones that look like cheap toys... *cough samsung *cough*

You are right
The hardware is fantastic for a phone made about 2 years ago.
But nividia is the main problem.
If they aren't updating the drivers, a custom rom of cm10 will never work as it supposed to be

I add Low RAM, and, something that bothers me a lot, is that the screen is asymmetrical, the lower space (between the display and bezel) is huge while the top space is short. I also don't like the protuberant back (very low quality) camera.
On the other hand, the display density is very good, but the IPS does not seem to be very good quality, since viewing angles aren't that good.

Okay so that is my opinion on the LG Optimus 2x or in Germany called "Speed".
I brought the device in the beginning of December 2011, I compared it to my exgirlfriends Samsung Galaxy S2 and similar devices hard and often.
I took it for alot of reasons:
First of all the LG Optimus 2x was way more handy/ergonomical compared to the SGS2, its not too thin, not too wide. It is a bit more like the iPhone. 4' inch is really the most ergonomical size in my opinion.
Second, the device hardware is still a very good competitor to the SGS2, the SGS2 does have HDSPA+ (which isn't even near to be an standard in german cities) and 1GiB of RAM, the Optimus does have "just" 512MiB and HDSPA but therefor the powerful Tegra 2. So paying +100€ more for the SGS2 was just a joke. Also the LG Optimus 2x feels simply better and looks better especially in white, like mine.
Third from the beginning, I didn't cared about the software, cuz its the same with a pre-installed Windows on a Netbook, there is just crap on the device and it's slow, so you are FORCED to clean up, root and install something like Modaco. Same goes for the SGS2.
ICS in general made some trouble on both SGS2 and 3 on the beginning, also that Gingerbread is a very stable software and is in general a very good piece brings me to the question why I should upgrade anyways? I know because it can give us better performance and it looks better, but the device just works, I can write SMS and make calls and battery life is also good. The battery always reaches 24hours easy. Even 48 hours are possible if you are busy with other things than playing around on the device but writing messages both WhatsApp with GPRS or SMS/Phone calls.
For me the LG Optmius 2x is handy, well priced and the software is doing what it should. I had the stock Froyo and Gingerbread each a month from December to February and I only upgraded to a customsoftware because I was bored. Games worked well and I never had problems with the device. I just cleaned up the stock software, thats it! The 512MiB RAM don't bottleneck the device IF you manage and close stuff on your own. YOU DON'T NEED 1GIB OF RAM. It just makes the user lazy to manage the software maybe spying him cuz he installed so many crap like facebook.
In the end I can say, its a good phone. For me it will be in service until 2014 or rather the end of 2014 with or without ICS. Nor the Optimus4x or the SGS3 or the HTC whatever they call it. Will give you more. You still just can write SMS, accept phone calls and use WhatsApp. Just faster? Or because you guys really need to show of you penis lenght? Be effecient and think about it. ^^
At least it rather depends on the user.

I am very satisfied with my P990
Crap GB ROM!!!
Sent from my thoughts using telepathy :banghead:
I agree with N3mesis. Actually GB STOCK and CM7 is quite stable on this phone and battery lasts around 20 hours with moderate usage. In fact presently none of the highend phones gives much over the O2X excepting quad cores and higher RAM. Infact 512 RAM has never posed any problem for me and i have always 50 to 100 mb RAM free depending on roms and softwares used. I dont think quad cores and huge RAMs are required for phones for daily use including a bit of gaming like temple run etc. And regarding ICS it is just my over expectation of getting it as promised by LG makes me feel bad when they are not delivering it.
Only thing is LG knows how to kill their FIRST IN THE WORLD FLAGSHIP phone and destroy fans and customer base.
You guys basically sum up my situation. When I was shopping for a smartphone (coming off a Huawei X3) I looked at the GS2 and the Motorola 4G but this was cheaper, had similar specifications, and felt better in my hand. I also liked the little HDMI port.
I updated to stock GB when I got it, rooted with NVFlash, and used Titanium Backup to remove some of the preinstalled software. Apart from an unfortunate fall which chipped up the plastic trim (didn't chip the glass though) it's been sweet.
Production battery life isn't great but I picked up a couple of 3500mAh batteries on eBay for $16. They'll last a day or more with moderate use and I charge every night anyway.
Of course the problem now is, thanks to the clever people on here, upgrading to another phone becomes increasingly pointless. I'm still on the stock ROM but have a modified kernel that is advertised as making it faster and smoother, and it certainly seems like it does. The battery does seem to drain faster when I'm reading on FBReader, but that could be my imagination. Otherwise it's very good.
Sure, the Galaxy S3 is a better phone, but is it $700 better? For what I use it for, this is more than adequate.

The xda forums are what keep this phone alive to this day.
Its a good device but I've seen better ones, however not at this price.
The real problem with it, no matter how you see it is lg and their way of treating the device.
This one could profit a lot from a jelly bean update.
Until then however I will stay on WajkIUI ROM and be happy.

I think this is a great device... Very capable camera, nice screen, good battery, and feels great in the hand. Only downside is the support we aren't receiving from nVidia. 512MB of RAM is more than enough.... and why do viewing angles... Do you expect yourself to be lying down on your bed and having your phone laying face up on your night stand watching a movie?

I got this phone second hand about 2 months ago as my first Android phone. I must say that the open source Android world is really vast and awesome. This phone is by far the best phone I've ever owned.
The stuff I like:
+ good screen
+ nice design & build quality (though the bottom part is a bit long imo)
+ fast processor
+ Android of course, and really good devs
+ being "unbrickable" (I've bricked my sis's Galaxy 5 before :/...)
+ value for money
Stuff I don't quite like:
- poor support from LG/nVidia
- battery life, especially on 3G data
- feels heavy compared to other phones
- seems to lack RAM at times (I have lots of stuff installed/running). 1GB would've been nice. - camera could've been slightly better

To all the people that say that the camera is bad, i compared it to my sister's GS2 and it isn't that awfull as you say it is, it is a camera phone! Are you really expecting DSLR quality from a phone? (Just a little side note, some of the people that say that their phone camera sucks just doesn't know how to handle the camera, try to explore the camera settings for a bit to see if you can take better pics.)

Not a ton. The ace isn't the fastest phone (800mhz processor stock). If you want a faster phone, I suggest a new one.
Anyway, first is overclocking the processor. The highest stable I think I've seen is 921mhz. This however ends up killing your battery (works the other way around too). For this you need an overclockable kernal (I don't know how to do it or where to get it lol). Another thing you can do is remove useless apps (so thinks like email, Gmail, maps and things that aren't usually used). This will free up some RAM and make sure that you don't have many apps running in the background at the same time. Speaking of RAM, get an app to manage that as well. Don't know how effective it truly is, but its something to do. Get rid of a few things like live wallpapers and FM radio as well as that's a lot of ram and CPU usage right there. Just look for key words in the title such as "light" (for useless apps being removed) and "OC kernal" (for the overclock) and hopefully you'll get what you are looking for.
Oye... I dunno.... I'm no pro at this (I'm not even a dev), but I'm just throwing out suggestions.
Anyway, use search, Google it, and experiment. Hopefully you can get some good performance from this cool little mid range device, but remember, its that, a midrange device. Not gonna beat the S3 anytime soon

I own the Galaxy Ace, and there is no way you can make it faster.
I tried so much: Switching Custom ROMs, Uninstalling apps, Overclocking etc.
But they all don't work.
The Ace is cheap, you can't get something as fast as a Galaxy SIII or HTC One X for that price.
The thing is, it is faster or we think it is faster?
Sent from my GT-S5830 using xda app-developers app
Overclocking is very useful and as others have said, works in a ratio with battery. Once you have rooted your phone, find a custom ROM you like ( I recommend Apocalypse by Itsoulas - it is very, very fast and best for games) because they are brilliant at helping you do what you normally cannot on the stock rom.
Good luck and welcome to Xda!

What Ace said is true, but my phone's battery life is already poor without overclocking.
First thing
Since when does the ace has legs ?

Its so easy
1. He wants the best performance right??yes.
So i would prefer the official stable cyanogenmod rom with some tweaks. And maybe not so usefull at all but also overclocking, like many of you said it before.
2. Come on guys we have an almost 2 years old ARMV6 device which was from the first release date since today a midrange or maybe lowend device. So please. Its natural that we cant compare it with quad core or dual core phones, in some cases even not with singlecore armv7 devices.
All in all its a sexy phone with iphone look and acceptable performance at all. AND its still cheap

Hi
I bought mine a month ago and i would buy it a second time without any doubts.
It has a descend CPU, enough RAM, very good build quality, a good screen, good battery life, it's not to big and not to small
one custom Rom that has no bugs and just works.
The only reason not to buy it is the lack of custom Roms like CM oder MIUI.

There's no foundation for a "but" here. The RAZR has not just 2GHz but also a fast memory interface. Clock speed is not everything. The "i", with a launcher like Nova, ist fast, snappy and responsive. Overclocking is an oudated concept here. Mine makes more than 14K points with AnTuTu benchmark.
Guys, took delivery this morning and all I can say so far is WOW. No wonder you all seem to like your RAZR I's!!!
Ordered one this afternoon. I coveted this when it first came out but was intent in getting a Nexus 4. Six months later and my longing is surprisingly quite strong and the £149.99 price tag is a lot more amenable. Can't wait for delivery, hopefully tomorrow...

I wouldn't buy a Razr i again. It's a fast phone. A very fast phone. It blows the doors off everything thanks to the x86 Intel processor which is much more efficient than ARM.
My only gripe is that it isn't compatible with Adblock plus or LBE Privacy master. If I would of known those apps didn't work, I would of never bought this phone in the first place.

My only gripe is that it isn't compatible with Adblock plus or LBE Privacy master. If I would of known those apps didn't work, I would of never bought this phone in the first place.

Any ideas why they're not working? What about PDroid?
I'm not sure but I believe that the Intel processor is reasonable for different not working programs. Pdroid need a custom ROM,which currently does not exist for the RAZR i

its a really great phone, for me battery its great, stability awesome always on stock firmwares. but im thinking of buying a new phone, GS3 are getting older and better phone are out now..but if you dont want to spend more and only have for S3 go ahead its a really nice phone. camera the best, sound quality its really nice , its super smooth. but what makes me think of changing my S3 its the ram, screen resolution, and the older exynos arquitecture A9.
no more opinions?
Decent phone. I'm sick of Samsung and their lousy updates. They take ridiculously long to release anything. Never again for me

I have the phone since October and I can say that is fantastic. Battery Life 15/20 hours. Stock and Custom ROMs are awesome .. I prefer the Samsung / Stock based ROMs because I can not give up the fantastic motion gesture by samsung. If you buy it you will not regret !
