i9000 won't turn on at all - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everyone.
Few days ago i bought SGS and i tried to change the ROM in it. I've successfully rooted the phone and installed ClockWorkMod Recovery Console. When i tried to install CyanogenMod 9 through Odin it failed. After a couple of tries i wasn't able to Turn my phone at all. Now the problem is that my SGS won't start up, and I do not mean bootloop. It doesn't matter if I hold the power button or 3-buttons combo for Download/Recovery mode. It doesn't even light up at all. The Buttons won't light up too. I don't know if it is still possible to repair my SGS I already ordered an USB unbrick jig. Maybe that will help. Can anyone help me with this issue? I would be grateful for every tip.
Looking forward for hearing from You guys.
P.S. Is there any chance it's a battery fault?

1 try it with another battery:ask your friends if they know someone with galaxy s, scl or s plus
2 u would have flashed via recovery, not using odin.. if your phone starts remember it for the next time
3 now i can't remember where but there is a member or a team who unbrick galaxy s, splus, s2.. try to find them out and contact them if it does not start.. but i think it isn't a battery problem

1. I already tried, it doesn't change anything. Still dead.
2. The thing is, I don't really remember if i used Odin or recovery xD I've done too much installs/updates/operations with this phone to remember xD
3. I'll search, thank You.

If you tried to flash cyanogenmod via Odin, then you messed up pretty badly. Use the USB jig, it might help.

Uh... sounds like something is seriously wrong with your phone dude =\ You should be able to get to d/l mode regardless. Does the phone still work fine otherwise?

I have the same problem after upgrading to official firmware via kieys. Running PDA:I9000NEJVD, PHONE:I9000NEJV5, CSC:H3GJV6 on 3mobile. Odin doesn't recognise phone in download mode, computer only reads onboard sd card when connected as usb storage. Tried one superoneclick too but stops at running pnueter exploit/gingerbreak exploit. Super laggy as well, Can i roll back to froyo? any help highly appreciated.

Did you try diffrent usb port on your cpu?
also..on the cpu that your using odin to flash , do you have kies installed?
if so make sure it isn't running ( i would uninstall just incase)
see if that helps.

I am interested in rooting too, and I have gingerbread. I have 2 problems though, first, I do not have the 3button combo working. I thought the gingerbread update would fix it, but no luck, and the method I found here did not work. I hear that you should not try to root without the 3 button combo working, but what choice do I have, samsung update did not fix this bootloader problem. I cannot put my phone in download mode without having it plugged in and recognized by adb.
My 2nd problem is that I have a I9000T and it seems nobody has this phone around here so I have no way of knowing if some of the rooting options even work for my phoen and firmeware.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I actually have a i9000t, ive soft bricked a few times as long as you could get into download mode you should be ok, allways keep a stock rom around just incase to flash back to through odin.
Ive flashed a few modem with no problems, few roms with minimal problems..
Cm7 lost radio and weird pixle screen boot.
Deoxidized roms work good.
I had flashed Darkys 9.5 and everything worked till i noticed the stock music player gave me reboots.
I had tried flashing MIUI but no luck at all, could of been my zip. File was messed up but i tried a diffrent and still nothing. Now im on Darky 10.1 final no problems.
This has to be the most stable/fastest rom ive ever flashed.
Edit i looked up something that might help.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596

hi.. do you have official kies installed on your computer?
if so uninstall it first... and installed the unofficial samsung driver.. sorry i cant post link here as am junior member..
you can search in google "samsung usb.rar". Once you download it, then installed it on your computer. Open you odin, put your phone in download mode,
and plug in to computer, then odin should be able to recognize your phone.
Once I have the same problem and it works for me with above step. hope that help.

Thanks for the reply! Ok, I finally manage to have the 3button combo work and get into download mode and recovery mode. I want to root, can you tell me if the odin method works on 2.3.3 stock, on I9000T . Also, How can I fully backup my phone. Which android version did you have when you rooted.
Also, I keep reading those very old threads and I was wondering what the latest Odin version is used for 2.3.3.

Turns out We/I have been using the wrong button combo for download. Download mode is: Vol DOWN+Home+Power On.!!! Recovery mode is Vol UP+Home+Power On. I used Fuguroot with my stock kernel from RAMAD (senior developer). Flashed with odin & it took LESS THAN 2 MIN! Check out this link here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1011901.Hope this helps. Do remember to thank Ramad and Nicademus!

I don't have a galaxy tab, but it should be similliar to my galaxy s. I think your device is NOT bricked. As long as you can get to download mode, your device is NOT bricked. If you can get there, you should try to flash with odin/heimdall again. I think you must have done something wrong in the flashing process. AFAIK the logo is displayed by bootloader (primary), so if nothing went wrong with flashing the secondary one (download mode), you should be able to flash again.

[Q] My GT is dead! Help!! Urgent!

Think I have bricked my Tab - HELP
Just got myself a Tab P1000. I try updating software using Odin3.
I think i have misused the wrong firmware not for P1000 (stupid), when Odin3 is running gonna finish, it showed FAIL! So i disconnected my GT although the download mode still running.....(stupid again) n I manually off my GT by continuing pressing power button wished to reflash by proper firmware.
As i reconnected it to pc again, although i tried to turned it into download mode again from off mode and i failed, Odin still can detect it. As i tried to use proper firmware to flash it, when it gonna finished, it showed FAIL again!
Now the tab screen turned off and it won't turn on. I tried to turn it into download mode or recovery mode but it couldn't be. I think my wrongly flash has made the buttons all mess up their function. All I have is the LED light on permentanly. If I hold the power button for 10 secs, the LED goes off for 3 secs and then comes on again.
Can anyone help me sort this? Any suggestion pls? Urgent!
Thanks a lot!
What firmware did you flash? I only ask because I know I once flashed an I9000 bootloader on my Captivate and it changed my download & recovery combo to I9000's however they still worked once I used the proper combo (I know extremely lucky)
If bootloaders have been wiped and replaced with wrong bootloaders then its back to samsung with your tab for (hopefully) warranty repair...
Send back to samsung is my last choice, beside this there is no more solution??
my tab it was in same condition, check this forum and you will find solution. i give you what it works for me.....http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081800
good luck!!!
Dude!! It is worked!!!!
OMG DUDE IT IS REALLY WORKED!!!
Once i really think my GT have to send back to samsung...... but i have the last try of your suggestion, IT IS WORKED!!!
IT IS SO AMAZING N UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Thanks alot dude!!! You save my SGT!!! n my pocket!!! Thanks~
This solution is really useful n amazing!!
Any1 has same situation can try this!

[Q] Galaxy S Dead - no download mode, no recovery

A few months ago, I had a few issues with my I9000.
I had Darky's Rom 10.1 at the time, and decided to go back to a generic rom.
Went to Samfirmware and downloaded I9003XXKP9.
It seemed to flash correctly, but on completion, Odin showed "reset", but no "pass".
The phone wouldn't power on at all, no download mode, no recovery.
My PC won't recognise it at all.
It was only later that I realised I'd installed a I9003 rom onto my I9000.
I've tried every button combination, with and with out a PC cable and battery, no reaction. Also tried a JIG I got off eBay. Works on my Galaxy S2 and my brother's Galaxy S, but not this this phone. It will charge if I connect it to a wall charger however.
I brought it to a local phone shop who used a JTAG, but apparently although they were able to get it into download mode, once they reflashed, it still wouldn't power on, no matter which rom they used. They worked on it for about a week.
I'm just trying to figure out if this phone is recoverable. It was only about 2 months old when this happened, and it looks almost new.
Many thanks for any information anyone can give!
Anyone have any ideas?
So in my point of view.
When they used to try the JTAG and the phone would not start up the motherboard / bootloader is corrupt.
No way to change that back.
May you send the phone to samsung and they are able to restore that device.
No other solutions in my point of view.....

Buy an usb jig on e-bay or make your own. This is just a 301ohms ressistor on pin 4 and 5. It should give ypu recovery mode.

[Q] Need Help with Galaxy I9000 Brick Issue very strange

Dear fellows,
I need your help. My colleague has some how bricked his Galaxy I9000 device. As per discussion he said he tried to upgrade the rom and accidently the rom he selected for flash via odine was for I9003 which is a variant of Galaxy S line of product.
Now what happened is the phone is completely dead no download mode nothing its all dead. I prepared a USB Jig and plugged in and followed our expert's guidelines but still no success. The device is still dead. One hunch of mine was drained battery and I put it on charging and observed the back (camera side) was slightly heating up when i checked after couple of hour of charging but the situation remained the same.
Any suggestion to recover this device and what has happened to the device? Is the samsung phone are so fragile? Im personally using Xperia X10i and never faced such problem even bricked its all recoverable via software workarounds.
Please suggest
Thanks Faisal
well i dont know if this will help but ill give it a try. when you plug the phone into the computer does the computer recognize the device? if it does see if it recognizes in odin. if thats all good in odin (gives you a port number) then to flash these files http://www.mediafire.com/?34oxweahfpy53dj
just un rar and follow readme. this may not work for you but a while back i hd a simular problem and this is how i fixed it so try it see if it works. If it does hit thanks.
ps this has also worked on different devices with simular problems but i did it with different files(the ones meant for the proper device form samfirmware.com)
Good Luck!
try option bootloader flash in odin, if you flash a firmware package.
should be recoverable for sure
last resort would be Unbrickable mod
the files i posted will flash bootloaders at the sme time. At least thats what i think the sbl file that it flashes is
How can he flash via odin when he can't even get into download mode??

well if you read what i posted i clearly said that i had simular problems, meaning ive been to the point where i couldnt get into dl mode or recovery and that is how i fixed it. heres a example; start to flash via odin and unplug while its flashing. Then try to go into dl mode or recovery. You cant! it scared the crap out of me, so i didnt give up and all i had to do is plug it into the computer and i recognized it in odin. so i flashed and there i had it it was fixed
Thanks for responses
Hi Guys,
thanks for responses but when the device is plugged with PC no activity at all. Fully dead
My colleague acquired repair services and recovered the phone because I dont have JTAG/RIFF with me.
Unbrickable mod was hard to try specially modification by shorting resistors from device motherboard.
Thanks

I didnt understand your messege. Whats a JTAG/RIFF. Should I try the USB Jig on mine?
I hard bricked a SGS I9000B and its not even mine, I mean it wont turn on, wont light up the screen, wont give any working sign, when battery is inserted for a long time the phone warms up. 3 buttons wont work, sliding the battery in and pressing 3 buttons also wont work. Should I try the USB JIG?

Pls help me.I was trying upgrade my old samsung galaxy s i9000

It was not going to recovery mode and nt booting up
I tried to fix bt the worse thing happen no download mode no recovery mode
And not booting up.
Guys i really want to use that mobile again
Pls help!!
Try this, remove battery and sim card then hold the buttons to get into download/recovery mode and while your holding the buttons replace the battery. if that doesn't work then try a jig, you can buy one or make your own. info here http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s2/help/guide-how-to-make-usb-jig-reset-binary-t1604707

Try using the method provided by pryerlee but leave it on download mode. Use Odin or Heimdall to flash a new kernel and just after it reboots, quickly go into recovery mode where you should factory reset and delete the caches. Hope this helps!

You should still have download mode as it is hard coded into memory. Maybe try with a USB JIG and you can make one if you don't want to buy one. http://www.xda-developers.com/android/need-a-samsung-usb-jig-build-your-own/
I can get to download mode, but with various PC's and laptops, different USB cables (including the original Samsung) the phone does not appear as a device.
