My DROID Bionic's wifi doesn't work at all anymore. It was working just fine a couple of days ago. The phone got REALLY overheated so I dont know if that was the issue. When I go into wifi settings and try to connect to a wifi network it only says "Turning wi-fi on..." I was running the ICS leak .2233 at the time and FXZ'd to .902 and updated to stock ICS. Also, when I try to connect it also says "No nearby Bluetooth devices were found." Its odd because im in the wi-fi tab, not the bluetooth tab. I would really appreciate some replies. Thank you.
WiFi on mine stopped working in stock ICS. It would just continually attempt to grab an IP and then disconnect and reconnect. Forgetting the connection and reentering the key did not help. Oddly enough it worked fine in CM10JB. Not really wanting to mess with it I did a factory data reset (after backing up both ROM slots) and it started working again. It may have been heavy handed but it's going again...

Running CM3.6.5 and cannot get the wifi to work. When I turn it on after a few seconds it says "Disconnected" right underneath it.
On the wifi networks I try to connect to my home router but it doesn't do anything. the signal strength:excellent securitypen, i hit the connect button but nothing.
I've turned off and on the wifi with no luck. Been searching for help but can't find any. If this has happened to you and you've fixed it let me know how i can do this.
Thanks!~
Have you only had this problem on one network? At work, every few days I loose my connection to our Linksys. A coworker's iPhone also fails to connect, but another coworker's Dell laptop can connect fine. Watching logcat I can see it attempting to connect, then spitting out an authentication failure error.
Restarting the Linksys seems to solve the problem. Not sure what is special about the two phones that makes everything crap out.
the only wifi network i use is my home one right now. haven't thought about restarting it. gonna do it and hopefully that will be the fix i've overlooked ><
/slaps his forehead.....
restarted my router and that fixed the problem. for some reason i've never had to do this but now i know.
thanks for the post! wifi working now.
Glad that helped. I'm still a little stumped about why it's doing this, but it sounds like we have the same issue. Restarting the router is easy enough though.
Now at home, I have a Linksys running Tomato firmware, and it never boots either of the two G1s we have. So it's just the stock router firmware for me, and it only affects G1s and iPhones (or at least, it affects them and not a laptop with Intel wireless).
i am having the same issue. does anybody knows if its a rom problem? I am running cyanogen 4.3.1. in college, where my laptop can connect fine, the g1 can not, and has a very low signal level while laptop shows excellent.
Hello, recently my wifi has been acting up. Sometimes it will say it is connected to my wifi network but no web pages or anything work. It happens after I leave my phone in standby for a while, and it will usually start working after restarting my wifi. After I restart wifi so many times it will disconnect even when it's not in standby (and more often) and then eventually the wifi switch on my home screen stops working.
I'm running Android 2.2 Froyo Cyanogen Mod 6 RC2 FRF84B using the jdlfg 2.6.32.9 overclock 300 mhz+1200 MHz kernal.

ok sounds like there could be two reason for this, either the rom or your router. First make sure you have the latest radio for your phone. If possible try a different rom or a nanadroid restore. on to the router, do you have other wireless devices in your home? Are you experiencing this issue on any other device? You may want to try connecting your phone to a different wifi connection just for testing. connect to any available open connection and test to see if the phone does the same thing on a different wifi connection. Now if it does then you know it's most likely an issue with your phone. if that's the case you would want to focus on the rom and or your radio.
If you do not have the same issue after connecting to a different wifi connection then it's not the phone but your home network. You will need to trouble shoot your router, good luck
I'm fairly sure it isn't my rom, although I did only notice it when I started wifi tethering on 2.2 (I never tried it on Eclair though, I only decided to root when I heard Froyo had been leaked). I'm on Cyanogen (I used to be on the stock froyo) and I still get the same problem, I also updated my baseband and I still get the same problem. As for my router I doubt it, my laptop never seems to disconnect along with my wii and any xbox my friends bring over. My sister's Droid also doesn't seem (emphasis on seem, she's not a power user or anything of the sort and I'm not even sure if she has her phone on wifi half of the time, and neither is she, the last time I checked it was connected though) have any problems (she just has a stock Droid, nothing special).
I've tried a newer version of Froyo (I don't have the latest build though atm, but that's because Cyanogen doesn't support it yet).
Does the Droid connect to wifi in any special way that other devices don't? If so then my router might still be a suspect, as I admit the firmware it's running on is glitchy (it actually worked better before I updated it (I was trying to get some remote router switch on my PC to work with it)).
Edit: I discovered recently that no other wifi networks come up when wifi bugs out, although it seems to only happen sometimes.
Fixed the problem, apparently it's caused by a glitch in the settings, when you change the wifi sleep mode settings so that it doesn't sleep after idling for so long the phone assumes it's been changed but it doesn't actually change. Downloading WifiPowerSavingOff fixed it.
Hey, in the last few weeks I've run into a very annoying bug on my phone. Wi-fi turns itself off after about 2 minutes. It doesn't actually "turn itself off" in the phone - and by that I mean that the wifi icon is still there, and I can see the signal strength, but the internet won't work.
In order to fix it, I have to turn the wifi off and then on again.
I've tried using the Wifi Fixer application, but it doesn't help. It can't seem to detect when I lose my internet connection.
I've also troubleshooted it, checking that it occurs on different routers/types of networks.
I'm sure it's a problem with my phone, but I dont really want to reformat my phone until Froyo comes (since I don't want to have to install all my apps twice).
Is there any solution to this? ;z
I'm on stock rom, JF3, with OCLF.
I have the same problem with my phone. My Wi-Fi at home works just fine, but when I go to my brother's house, I seem to occasionally lose internet connection even though it shows that it's still connected to the Wi-Fi. I have stock Bell ROM with OCLF by RyanZA. Oh, and to fix it I simply turn Wi-Fi off, and then on, and it starts working again.
Bump :x
Anyone have a solution?
I have had my NookColor for about a month. The day I got it, I updated to 1.01, and then ran Autonooter to root. I installed ADW launcher, and have been loving it since that time. Today, the wifi inexplicably stopped working.
This is my home wireless network, which has an open guest wireless router that I use for the NC, as well as several other devices that currently work fine.
The only thing I changed today was that I updated the SkyFire browser. I have since uninstalled it, hoping that would fix the problem. It did not.
Here are the symptoms:
1. turn on wifi - no apparent issues
2. however, the device did not automatically connect (as it has every day for a month, including this morning)
3. go to wireless settings, and confirm that wifi is on
4. no networks display in the "wireless network" box, but the "Other network" choice does appear
5. after 10 seconds, a message in a black box pops up that says "Unable to scan for networks"
6. If I choose "Other network" to try to retype the SSID, I get a message that says "Unable to save the network"
7. I eventually get this message: "Sorry! Activity Wireless (in application Settings) is not responding. Wait | Force close."
I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Did it autoupdate to 1.1? Rom 1.0.1 gave me a good wifi connection. 1.1 has been very problematic for me.
Try also rebooting the router. May not be the issue but need to work through some of the causes. I've had some router issues particularly with older models.
I'm using 1.01.
I have rebooted the router and the NC more than once. Also, the router is working for other devices.
It's not that the NC can't find the wireless AP, it's that something is preventing the NC's wireless from working at all. It almost seems like a permissions thing, or a file that has been corrupted.
My wifi mysteriously stopped working a couple of days ago. I had been on AN3.0 rooted Stock 1.1 for a couple of weeks, then suddenly the wifi could not see any access points. It seemed like wifi wasn't even powering up. There was no obvious reason for it to quit; I was actually surfing the net when the connection dropped. Rebooting did not help.
I booted from a Nookie Froyo SD card and wifi worked fine, so it clearly wasn't a hardware fault.
I then decided to just go ahead and install CM7 since I needed to reflash anyway. Works great so far!
Hi -
My wifi at home is being displayed, but it is always stuck at Connecting... How do I fix this?
SO here's what happened - I accidentally turned off the wifi router at my home and then turned it back on again. After that, the phone simply refuses to connect to it. I'm able to see that the wifi is available, but upon trying to connect to it a million times, it simply goes from Authentication --> connecting --> saved. This keeps repeating. I've had the same results for the stock, Pure Shamu and Minimus. My nexus 5 running minimus and my Gnex running 4.4.4 PA have absolutely no issues, so it's got nothing to do with the router itself.
I rolled back to my previous backup of the stock rom and wifi mysteriously started working. Out of curiosity, I turned off the router again just to see if it happens again, and it did. Is this an actual bug floating around? Or is something messed up with my phone?
Also, how the heck do I disable the "Avoid poor internet connection" option? I find it nowhere!
