Maybe it's on but it's just having a kernel panic. Try holding the power button for about 20 seconds then try turning it on.

Certainly start by leaving it on the Google charger overnight. May take that long to charge up.
Also, hold the power button in for 30 seconds.
Purchased mail order? In-store exchange is the one advantage to purchasing local.

super strange a really long power button press got it on. i feel dumb now. about the local purchase, its a nexus 7 3g, if you can find one locally you are a lucky man
edit: if someone wants to close this, or tell me how i can marked as "answered" i got what i needed. i suppose some other noob might have the same problem thou

Go to Edit/Delete post, then click on "Go Advanced" in the field above. You should be able to edit the title from there.
PS, where are you and what store did you manage to snag the 3G N7 at?

Isthere away to power up nexus through adb?

My power button broke and can't get it to power up. So I can put it back to stock and send it in for warranty, I thought since it don't power up they wouldn't know. thank you
That's impossible - if the phone is powered off, adb/fastboot cannot detect it.

Plus you can't re-lock the bootloader so they are going to know either way that it is not stock. Apparently, they are still covering hardware warranties even if the phone is rooted. Good luck.
PS- Wrong section. This should go in Q & A.
I read something about pulling the battery while charging. Try that.
putting in stock won't help either.. Your bootlader is forever unlocked once it's done.

- power off your phone
- plug the charger (led is orange)
- pull the battery and put it back really quick BEFORE the led starts to blink orange and green

Got to try that... interesting.
yea I figured out that trick by mistake...I was about to suggest it.
MOD EDIT - Moved to Q&A
You can also plug the phone into usb and it usually automatically boots once it's fully charged.

+1 to this - unlocking the bootloader only voids software warranty, so hardware failure should still be covered.
Mine is at HTC right now for the power button and I left Froyo on it when I sent it in. I sent it yesterday and they said 5 days from the time I gave it to FedEx, so I think it will be back Saturday or Monday. I will post back if theres any trouble with the warranty.

Not true. There is no separation in the warranty since unlocking could affect the hardware if, for example, you loaded a dodgy kernel that overclocked the cpu too far and burnt it out.
You might very well find that if it's something like a power button, they will still do it under warranty since there is no way unlocking could have caused that, BUT they are within their rights to charge you for the work if they are feeling particularly nasty
Anecdotal evidence here seems to suggest that they do cover this kinda thing under warranty but it's always best to know where you stand, legally.
Great trick!
I were also tried finding this secret boot method when I did this:
- Pulled the battery while the phone was ON, an put in back in right away
- Plugged in the charger (no more than 2 seconds later)
The phone gave me a burst of 7-8 vibrations, but did not boot. Does anyone know what it is trying to tell me?
(stop pulling my battery, you jerk?)

Update already!
They said it would take 5 days from the time I dropped it off at FedEx to the time I got it back but I dropped it off at FedEx about 1pm monday and it's going to be delivered back to me tomorrow. Nice.
They didn't say it was fixed, but they said they would call if they had any problems, questions or it was going to cost my any money to fix it and all I got was a "thanks for using HTC, please fill out this survey" email and a shipping confirmation from FedEx, so I assume it's good as new and there was no warranty problem.
EDIT: Got it back today only to find that instead of fixing the button, they replaced it with an unrooted phone running 2.1.
I have a moto cliq and if I remember correctly if you hold the camera button down and plug it into usb power while holding camera button it turns on. Maybe nexus has a trick that is similar.
does the "put the battery before the light turns orange to green" work if my battery is full??
the thing is the power button failed when my phone was being charged....
or do i have to wait for the battery to decrease and try the method then?
It doesn't matter. Usually, you can just put the battery in while the phone is plugged in and it will turn on. If it doesn't work right away, keep trying. You should get it in a few tries.

Broken HD7 For Sale/ HELP

I had an HD7 that was working. I sold it on ebay and the buyer told me it wasn't working when he received it. He shipped it back and it was broken.
So... now I'm looking to either fix it or sell it to somebody. The phone itself is perfect condition with no scratches. Even has a screen protector.
The issue is that it won't boot up. When you turn it on it just keeps restarting and never gets to the home screen.
I would like to sell it for $150 but if there is a simple fix to the problem I'm willing to try it. I don't know anything about WP7 and I've never done any modding, hacking or whatever it's called.
Any help is much appreciated!
You try a restore?
Plug it in see what happens?
Try this,
Turn the phone off. You might have to pull the battery for a minute.
While holding down both of the volume buttons (up and down) press the power button momemtarily. Continue to to hold the volume buttons until the factory reset screen appears.
Follow the onscreen instructions and you are all set.
Thanks!
That fixed it! Thanks so much for the quick reply. I was about to throw the phone on eBay for $10.
Glad I can help!
Maybe not...
I thought it was fixed. It turns on and I can use it but the battery won't charge. I left it plugged in all night and the battery was still barely charged in the morning. It could be a battery issue but the phone also does weird stuff like rebooting every few minutes while the phone is plugged in to charge.
Did you get that fixed?

[Q] Found a HTC HD7 today

I found a HTC HD7 in the middle of the road today but can't get it to switch on to find the owners details. When I try to charge it the HTC screen comes on and the phone vibrates every now and again. The battery is pretty mangled though.
Has anyone got any tips on how to get it to work?
no? I suppose I should buy a battery for it to start.
perhaps a hrad reset will help, have you tried ?
How do I do that mate?
turn off your Handy
hold Volume button up & down then turn on the handy (hold the Volume buttons)
you get a grey screen with text, then press Volume down again

didn't work mate. think the battery is broken.
if you factory reset then you will loose owner info. best thing is to take it to a shop that can use a spare battery to power it up or get a cheap one and i
m sure the owner will be happy to reimburse you for that cost in return for getting the phone back

yeah I think I'll do that mate. get one of ebay for £3.
Or if you have a USB cable, you can connect to computer and power it that way. Don't worry about syncing, you can set the zune software to not sync anything. Besides that, it would only sync music and pictures which can be erased after. Contacts will not sync since it needs cloud services such as hotmail or live account. Also note that if it has the SIM card, if you leave it powered on the owner might be able to track it down. At the very least if they set up their phone tracking properly, they can send a code to delete their info or might even be able to send a text message to the phone, then you can respond back.
That is awefully nice of you to try and find the owner!
The phone worked fine when I put a battery in it. just called the owner and they're coming to collect it later.

[Q] S3 Mini won't turn on at all

Yeah so here's the thing. I put Cyanogen Mod 11 on my device a few weeks ago, used CWM. And it worked perfectly normal except for 2-3 restarts but that's minor. Anyway, today I was using it normally as usually, and when I locked it, it wouldn't turn back on(even though it was on charger). The back button and the options button were glowing, but Home and Power button didn't do anything, just black screen. I put the battery out and back in, removed it from charger and I tried turning it on, but nothing. Just nothing, no vibration, no logo, no nothing. It was just a black screen. I don't know why and what happened here but if you guys could help I'll appreciate it.

Now, i think, instead of me or anyone else asking you questions about the course of events, why dont you try to elaborate and describe what actually happens from the moment you press the power button to the point where you conclude that it doesnt work?
If there is no sign of life between those two events, then i would have to conclude it being an error on hardware level...

The battery might be the cause. Try physically checking the battery for bulges and heat (hot to the touch). The last-mentioned can be tested by 'charging' the battery for a period of time. In other words: try replacing the battery.

Yes, the first thing you might do in such situations is to take it back to your carriers store and play dumb with "i dont know what happened, but my phone wont turn on anymore" etc. Most carriers dont have time to deal with such issues and just give you a new phone if youre within the warranty period. However if theyre wise to your act, youll have to try another store to get it fixed, if theyre willing to try or able at all. Bricking a phone is pretty rare, though.

Take it in for warranty m8
Might be worth waiting for the battery to completely drain and then try and turn it on after getting some charge in it.
I've had problems recently, after using OTG, the tab's display will just turn off, and when I mean off, it's just the screen, the tab is actually still on, as you can feel the heptic feedback, the only way is to force reset using the power volume and home key.
Another problem, still recently, I had about 12% power, so I just connected the USB to charge the tab, the screen started to flicker and then nothing works, after 10 minutes reconnected the power, and it started to charge up from 0%, it seems like the tab has gone haywire, I had decided to trade it in the next few days for the xperia X performance.
Not even bothered to take it to samsung service center (still under warranty), I can't stand their customer service, my tab has been through a repair before, my home key died and it kept on grabbing the side of the hole and sticking down, they replaced the part, but left something inside causing a lump at the back, problem sorted out, but the buttom kept on grabbing the side of the hole and not coming out if you press it slightly on one side, I even showed them the problem, and they agreed, and they say that a normal person won't press the button like that, and it's normal, I did mention that I have tried a few units and does not have the same problems, they just said it's normal, so I said to them if this is normal what isn't normal, and do they tell all there customers if they have a problem that its normal.
So I am completely sick of there BS, trying to keep away from samsung stuff.

Got rid of it, it should be a problem internally, anyway I've traded it for a Sony Xperia X performance.
Mine also died few days ago. I tried to charge it with different chargers and cables but without any success. POWER +VOL DOWN is not rebooting the tablet.
Now I am planning to open the back cover and will try to disconnect the battery. I believe it will help.
