Good Morning.
I have a Samsung Galaxy Ace GT-S5830.
Yesterday, I flashed with CyanoGenMod 7.2 (the lastest release on official web page).
The phone about show:
Android version 2.3.7
Base band: S5830XWKT8
Kernel: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL882825 [email protected]#10
CPU: ARMv6-compatible processor rev 5 (v6l)
Version MOD: CyanogenMod-7-20121118-NIGHTLY-cooper
Compilation Date: Sat Nov 17 22:35:05 PST 2012
GINGERBREAD.
My phone company is virtual and name "Jazztel" (in Spain). I have define correctly my access point, but 3g/2g not work.
I've searched on this forum, but I'm not sure I found the solution.
Can you help me please?
Thank you!
.
1. Is your Mobile Data on? ( Settings -> More -> Mobile Data -> Turn on )
2. Do you have signal?
3. Change your baseband, to one used in Spain.
4. Flash another CM7 version, check if it has the same bug.

Yes, all is correct. Access Points, data activate, etc...
I think the problem is that mobile not find the virtual operators.
When I touch in find operators, only show the real operators of Spain (Movistar, Orange, Vodafone), but no Jazztel.
Jazztel is a virtual operator that use Orange coberture.
In the original Rom, Jazztel appeared. In this version of CyanoGenMod 7.2 not.
Can I do anything?
How I can back to the original ROM that mobile have when I bought?
Flash a stock rom with odin (ktq or ktm for spain).
Then, if you made a nandroid backup of your original rom, root, install cwm5 and restore the backup.
Go into wireless settings and go in mobile network settings and go into access point names.if you have nothing there, make one

If your phone make calls the problem is another. I had problems with 3g/radio module on my stock Ace. I solved with a total reset of the phone trough recovery. Do this before flashing the stock rom.

I did it, and works correctly now. It's very strange but it works fine now!!
What could be the cause? Do not leave any installation failure.
:victory:
I have the same problem. If I don't turn on wireless data instently after booting, it will not turn on (until I reboot it).

I've had this samsung galaxy ace s5830i (my first android) for 4 of the most frustrating months now.
The problem first started with the phone being stuck on EDGE regardless of signal strength. I tried flashing it with new roms but had zero success. I tried manipulating the menu under *#197328640# but that led to a dead end as well. Every time I tried to select WCDMA only, the network bar changes to a "circle and cross" type of thing. I tried to dial *#7465625# to check for network locks but everything reads off i.e. no locks of any kind. Finally, I tried to select a new radio band by dialing *#4636# but that operation crashes a "com.android.phone" everytime.
So in summation, service mode changes don't help and flashing the rom doesn't help.
Recently, I to switched one of the strongest networks available (other than the one I'm on) but the phone is stuck on "emergency calls only" mode. When I try a manual network search and select the network to which the SIM card belongs, I get and error telling me that the SIM card can't register onto the network.
I have used these SIM cards on nokia phones and other samsung galaxy ace devices and have experienced none of the problems listed above, even in remote areas. The support guys of my network say nothing is wrong with my account.
So there you have it. Is there anything left that I can try?
Flash the latest firmware available for your region in Odin. Because this will wipe and reinstall your modem and other data as well as your ROM. If that doesn't do it then it must be a hardware problem, isn't it under warranty?
By the way just to rule this out, check you haven't lost your IMEI number with *#06# as this can also cause network access issues.

The IMEI ok. What section of the operating system controls the com.android.phone process or the phone's ability to select or switch bands? In my lay man understanding, this is where the issue lies and every time I flash, this region remains unchanged
Try changing manually CSC of the ROM.That's the most reasonable thing that I can thing of right now...if it don't work after changing it go to samsung service..

If you mean the *#272*IMEI# trick, then I already tried that and samsung has no presence in my country so no service centre to speak of
I have your exact same problem .
and I've been looking for a solution since last week , i'm starting to think its a hardware problem.
I "worked around" it by flashing the phone with a rom that locked the device and then reflashing it with the original rom. At least now it picks network but the other problems haven't left i.e. still no 3G and I can't edit any menu under service mode et al.
On another note, if you have the time, try flashing with different modems... maybe a miracle will happen
There seems to be something wrong with basebands of latest stock roms.Try switching aeroplane mode on and then off.I regularly lose signal..and get stuck without signal until I reboot.

Make sure of your phone model (Under the battery) because there is GT-S5830M GT-S5830C and GT-S5830I.
In my case, I have GT-S5830M and the only modem that worked for me is PHONE_S5830CVJKL4.tar.md5.
Maybea changing the modem will fix your network problem.

You can use a file called Odinatrix (found somewhere here on xda) to split single firmware files into pda, modem and csc. I, on the other hand, still get a circle and cross whenever I set the device to wcdma only. The interesting thing is that setting it on auto picks up 3g but very rarely (twice in many months) and for a short time (like 3 minutes). still looking for answers
hi,
i upgraded my phone to 4.2 jelly bean slim rom . calling and other things were fine . but from tommorrow i am facing this problem.
in settings=>about phone=>status it's showing my network name and signal strength-64dBm 25 asu . my network is not 3g or 4g .
but my signals are white ( no signals but sim present and detectable) cant call . whenever i try it says "mobile network not available".
after this i checked my sim in other phone . it is working fine.
i put sim from some other network in my sgs but same problem
i flashed the same rom to fix it but no good
i flashed back my ics rom , no good
i did factory reset , but problem is still
i am using this phone for past 2 years and this problem never occoured.
PLEASE HELP ME .
there is some problem with the 4.2 rom or whatever, but you easily fix the calling part by installing another modem.
in my case I can't get the sms to get working, tried 3 modems already.. everything else is super fine.
I had a similar problem where I had no reception! Easy fix though
1. Find online your specific carrier ROM for the phone, (eg. AT&T SGS1 ROM) and flash it, firmware can be what ever (gingerbread, eclair, ICS)
2. Flash your carrier ROM, you may not pass boot screen but that's alright because the carrier ROM still embeds all carrier info.
3 Now re flash your jb ROM and enjoy
Hopefully this helped you out

See how your IMEI is now something like 00499....? The phone's generated a fake IMEI (which allows you to use the telephony functions such as data, SMS etc) because its lost the real one.
1.) Go back to a stock 2.3.6 rom using Odin. Your IMEI should be back to what it was, but check it just to make sure. However if you're able to send texts/make calls/use data again, your IMEI's been restored.
2.) Root it again.
3.) Flash in CM9 first (do the standard wipe data/cache/Dalvik). Let CM9 boot. To upgrade to Jelly Bean from Gingerbread, you need to flash in ICS (CM9) first to preserve the IMEI. Once CM9 has booted (you don't need to stay on it for too long), if you see that you're getting signal, you're all goods. But check your IMEI just in case you want to be sure it worked.
4.) Back into recovery. Wipe combo (data/cache/Dalvik) again just in case. Install Slim Bean from there.
5.) Once it boots, you should be getting signal as usual. Once again though, if you really want to make sure, check your IMEI.

I had similar issue - insert sim card. Play around that part as it seems to be connector troubles. Mine works when slightly off, not plugged in straight as connector bed suggests.
(/) not (|).
Where ( ) is sim connector bed,
/ or | IS SIM CARD PLUGGED IN "TWISTED" OR STRAIGHT.
I do not know if you understand me but I do not know how tO describe it better.

Sorry my english, I'm using google translator. I had a similar problem to downgrade the Jelly Bean for Gingerbread, NV.DAT changing the file inside the folder / modemfs which changed the PCode XTC (Phillipinas) for ZTM (TIM Brazil my region).
In Gingerbread 2.3.6 simcard was usually recognized and upgrade to 4.1.2 Jelly bean simcard stopped running. Could solve to find that the file was originally NV.DAT GB in 302 bytes and 288 bytes in JB, but in my case it was always 302 bytes in JB, got a backup folder / modemfs the same region and that my only replaces the file, restart the usually recognized my simcard.
Go to recovery mode.
Turn off the phone
Hold the Volume Up + Home + Power button
Let go of the buttons when phone vibrates.
Use Volume Up and Down to navigate, Power button to select
Choose Wipe Data -> Choose Yes
Choose Wipe Cache -> Choose Yes
Reboot Phone.
All issues will possibly go away.

First of all flash stock rom via odin and then check all working fine or not?? If evry thing working perfect then try again to install custom roms...
Well, I flashed the stock ROM from ODIN. I downloaded it from that Samsung hub website (don't remember it's name now). But still the problem is the same. I am not getting any signals. I did installed the ROM made for India, but still the issue is the same. Is there anything else I can try. I am now non-root with stock Samsung ROM.
@anshumangoyal Check IMEI Number under setting - About Number
I can see my IMEI Number with *#06# but there is xxx under base band. I installed the original ROM, then Rooted my phone and installed custom ROM. Still the baseband shows xxx. I am still not able to receive the signals on my mobile. Is there anything else I can try here?

Using a terminal app in your phone / adb shell , type this.
Code:
mount | grep modem
then screenshot the output.
The expected result is (may differ),
Code:
mount | grep modem

Hi i am thinking of trying another rom out on my galaxy s GTi9000 .I am on pay as you go.last time i installed a new rom my phone automatically switched package data on and by the time i had set up my phone it had eaten some of my credit .Whats the best way to stop it from doing this..Can i just flash a new rom without installing my sim card and external sdcard ? I am guessing that by not having my sim installed it cannot charge me and i should be able to disable the package data setting before re installing my sim then add the sim back once set up.Is this correct.Thanks.
Yes i think so just flash rom without sim inside and then after the whole intro put your sim in.

Maybe down to APN Settings (always check to make sure they are configured properly for your Sim)
As well as Data Roaming option
If Pay as you go : use WiFi to save Data when ever you can

I never use my package data only wifi but when i installed a rom it switched package data on ..so i need to make sure it is off .I am thinking of installing your SAUROM GB JW9 v2 BLUE THEME version to try .I have tried xbean but had issues with media using 73% of my battery and draining it too quickly and getting really hot (apparently loads have had trouble with media when on jell bean etc ..back to stock rom on phone and it is now fine again.Have there been any issues on your rom ? i like to have loads of music files stored on my external sd card 32gb .
Just uploaded the JWB which is better in my opinion
Any issues if you have problems with the Rom let me know and just install as Stock Theme :victory:
No issues as of yet and try to fix as soon as possible
There is tweaks included and get Advanced Task manager which helps battery along with Power Schedle Basic
Both of these are very good tools.

Just follow my Guide on my signature to set it up ... word by word.
Basically Remove Samsung Kies all together on your PC if you have it (depending on what you need)
Reboot Computer
Install Samsung USB drivers
Reboot...and then open ODIN
Tick Re-Partition and put in PIT File then Follow Guide :good:
As long as its an i9000 your good to go!
If your Battery goes down fast or signal strength low just change the modem , will explain that when it happens

Yes starting to Flash any New Rom 2.3.6 needs to be flashed first then rooted to give you that Clean bug free Start point for installing any new Rom.
Then you need to Root it .

I have tried many times but no help...
Hey, try flashing the parambin.zip file (look for it on google related to s3 lte, you'll find it easily). Another thing to try is just wait with the phone turned on with a valid SIM. I found out that sometimes it delayed a lot to get signal, specially when changing SIM carriers on another country. After a while waiting it finally succeeded (probably unrelated but I also saw on the catlog entries about upgrading the sahara file of the qualcomm chip -the modem-).
