[Q] Is Bluetooth AVRCP 1.3 supported? - Galaxy Camera Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Can anyone confirm whether or not AVRCP 1.3 is supported in the stock rom?
Thanks,
John

The way I tell if a device supports AVRCP 1.3 is by pairing it with the radio in my car and streaming mp3s to the radio.
If song metadata is displayed by the radio then AVRCP 1.3 is supported.
Thanks!

Yes, in my car, it pairs, displays info, plays music, etc. just like my Galaxy S2.
When I try to make a phone call from the car it pops up a message on the phone and asks me which app to use:
- phone app says something like "this device can't make calls"
- skype app completes the call just like you would expect
- for some reason Groove IP doesn't register as a phone device so it doesn't ask me if I want to use it; however, it places calls just fine, but you can't initiate it from the car for some reason. But calls play thru the bluetooth in the car fine. Sent a feature request off to the Groove guys.

stream stereo bluetooth without A2DP or any accessories

Has anyone been able to play music on their car's speakers through bluetooth specifically lexus with navigation, LEXUS GX 470 with tilt?
I've tried lots of things to get this working and the only thing that works is the calls but the music doesn't stream over.
Ive read and read everything on here the only advice i see going around is buying more accessories, I want to make this work
without having to buy any bluetooth adapters like jabra or jawbone, i have so many different accessories that i can build a spaceship
and don't want or need anymore. Thanks in advance
Does your lexus support A2DP? If not, then no, it won't connect for streaming stereo audio. Looking at the Lexus web site implies that only HFP is supported.
You can look at the JETWare BT Extention driver.
Tried a lot of different things and hasn't worked isnt there a way to make the phone transmit the music as if i was on a phone call, there has to be software out there that does this.
nope.. havent tried it with that.. but works perfectly with a BMW 528 i flawlessly
( check the kaiser pic thread to see what i mean )

tried with the above mentioned Lexus..
i own a BMW 528i so i can speak from experience when i say that it connects flawlessly.
and the thread im speaking about is just a picture thread dedicated to pics uve taken with ur kaiser..
but if u must.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=371647&page=15
I must be a dunce but i don't understand what the picture thread has to do with it.
EDIT------
Oh that you actually own the BMW, you could of just linked me to your post. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=2275428&postcount=145
That's a pretty big thread which would have been hard to find without the exact name.
BMW and lexus are different cars, your probably has A2DP (does it?) where as mine doesn't. Anyway your car is newer.
Check your car user manual. If it says Bluetooth 2.0 (or at least 1.2) with A2DP, then the answer is YES; otherwise, you're wasting your time.
I have RX350 and its bluetooth is 1.0; not sure if Toyota are so generous that they install bluetooth 2.0 w/ A2DP on GX470
You know its funny if you google "LEXUS GX 470 bluetooth a2dp" without the quotes this thread is #2 & #3 right after the lexus website, and you responded literally 2 minutes ago, google sure is working fast.
I don't have the manual, and i don't think it has A2DP anyway.
I'm going to try 2 more programs let you know how it works out.

Well Blue music didnt work. But i did hear my music ringtones. Bummer. All I got left is Chartcross Bluetooth Audio Router.
http://www.teksoftbluemusic.com/
Bluemusic is the only software available that offers Voice-over-Bluetooth combined with 100% phone support. People all over the world are now familiar with the expression "Music is wireless!". Starting with version 2.0, not only music, but anything related to AUDIO playback goes WIRELESS with Bluemusic! Make sure you get your own copy today!
It should work according to their website quoted from FAQ page.
3. Will BlueMusic work with the A2DP profile of my Stereo Bluetooth Headset?
BlueMusic is not intended to be used with stereo A2DP headsets, but with the mono bluetooth model headset. The reason is that with the stereo headset you can listen to music from your mobile device by default, but with the cheaper, mono headsets used only for phone calls you can't. So BlueMusic only offers missing functionality for that type of headsets and would be useless for the stereo A2DP. Still, feel free to download the trial version and try it on your device.

TomTom commands over bluetooth car kit?

Hi,
is there a way that TomTom will output the voice commands over my Parrot bluetooth car kit? This would be great as the Diamond speaker quality is really very poor...
Thanks
I am very glad that Diamond doesn't speak through my Parrot (only calls and voice dialing)
My previous Nokia E60 did and it was terrible, always interrupting my in-car stereo
Maybe you have very loud car? or try make TomTom speak louder

Hi..
I don't know if it is spelled the right way.. but vjvlobilis should do the trick.
If it doesn't work for you.. then search here or on google for bluetooth audio gateway.
@tehac: no my car is pretty new and not that loud but the speaker quality on the diamond is really crap.
@Richard: may be I am unable to handle google but nothing found...
I installed BtMusic, this works great with a Parrot CK3100. You could try it!

The previous answers are for using a2dp, but I assume you meant using hf (hands free) profile so it would interrupt the car radio and play the voice direction. This is not possible because of the way TomTom is written, it uses the a2dp profile.
You can listen to music from the phone using the above methods and it will play the voice directions along with the music.
As earlier described, you need support of the A2DP profile in your parrot. I am using a parrot MK6000 and it works like a charm! Also for playing music, streaming music and films (though the last one i hardly use, only see last tour de france news in the traffic jam)
So, does it works, Yes, without problems, Yes, but only with the MK6000 and MK6100

Intresting! So does that mean when any sound is played from the handset, the radio is cut and switched to the handset, then when it finishes it cuts back to the radio?
Sounds great, better than the old ck3000 were you have to switch constant streaming on for it to come through!

Jep, for some programs it works by pressing the play button on the carckit, and if not I go to bluetooth settings and activate bluetooth wireless stereo, then al the things are forwarderd, tomtom, audio, streams etc.
(Tomtom only misses the first 0,5 second of the first sentence, but i resolved this issue by editing the audiofiles from tomtom)

It works exactly as you describe with TT7 and my Ck3100. So without a2dp. Using the tool mentioned, my radio is muted when a voice-direction is played, and the music comes back a few seconds after the command. (Just like with an incoming call)
So in my opinion it also works great with the 3100

Thanks!
@Bureno: I have a CK3000 Evolution. I'll give it a try with the tool mentioned anyway...
Does not seem to work with the CK3000 Evolution. If I switch it to "Enabled" I can hear the commands over the car kit but nothing else, no more radio. If I have it disabled and just set to "Autoconnect A2DP" it does not work.
Any ideas?
Ah so it is just constantley streaming then. It doesnt switch between them?
Yes, that's it...

ill try to explain how my setup is as best as i can
i have a ppc6700 runing ROm6.1( Kitchen ) and TomTom7 ( with TT6 maps ). I use an external BT ( Holux GPSlim240 ) also use CorePlayer ( for streaming shoutcast ). In the car i have a JVC-BT1 ( bluetooth deck )..
I can play streamed audio form shoutcast and have TomTom talk in the background... Works fantastic !!!!
Only thing is i have to keep the car deck at BT Audio ( its a setting such as CD, Radio, BT phone and BT Audio ) it does not work unless the deck is set to BTAudio..
Anyway i can say it does work with waht i have, cant say for all configurations.. good luck on your venture....
FYI, i just changed over to IGO8 and IT DOES NOT WORK....

@pizcolq: my Spanish is not the best but honestly I do not see what the tool in the thread posted has to do with the problem we are dealing here... perhaps you could translate/explain a part of it? thanks
I saw that basically it is working with Btmusic. The commands are transfered to the car kit, it does just not switch on and off as commands come...
So I guess technically it should be possible, I just need the right app on my diamond which switches the car kit only to on when a command is coming... Can not be that difficult, can it?

Connecting to Bluetooth automatically starts music player?

I've recently brought a new car stereo and bluetooth gateway - both of which connect to my G1 fine, however...
When I connect them (e.g. when they switch on, as both connect automatically), it starts the music player on my phone playing a random track!
This is becoming very annoying, as I typically listen to Podcasts, not music. So my question...
Is there anyway to stop this happening?
And/or automatically start BeyondPod to be the app that launches on a bluetooth connection?
Note: Am running Cyan 4.0.2 on G1, with JG-Cyan theme (default music player, with slightly different skin).
I am wondering if there is a way to stop this also. I have a Ford with the Sync system and when I call someone there will be music playing in the background until I shut off the music player. lol.
Mine is straight with the JVC KW-NX7000BT head unit. What are your guys spec? Are you rooted? What rom? And do you have the newest radio?

Not sure what you mean by 'Mine is straight'.
My head unit is a Clarion FB289, connecting to a rooted G1 with Cyan 4.02 Rom (with JG-Cyan Theme). As far as I'm aware I have the latest radio.
As the problem/action happens with two different BT devices, gotta be something to do with the phone/ROM (?)

When I said mine is straight just meaning mine doesn't act in the way you guys are having. Go to your settings on your phone and go to about phone and look what your baseband says. Most likely you prolly do have the newest radio but you just wanna check. Without having the newest radio you can run into BT problems.
It has done it not rooted, rooted with JF 1.5, cyan's 3.6.8.1 through 4.02, Hard and the 1.33.2005 SPL, always the latest Radio.
I guess it is the BT device.
New Development
I'm mainly using BeyondPod to listen to podcasts (go figure...).
But was playing with the settings following the last update, I realised that the 'enable headset buttons' wasn't 'on'.
Since switching it on, when I connect to bluetooth devices, it starts up BeyondPod, rather than the music player...
... better for me, would be nice if nothing happened!
+2 year old thread - same problem. Still. It's kinda funny, but then again it's really, really frustrating.
On the same token, cars usually request access to the contact list - and I've found that the phone allows this even if I don't explicitly allow it. If I happen to look at the phone right when the car system makes this request, I can see the notification and I get to "Allow" or "Cancel". But if I don't do anything, it automatically allows it. What gives?
This has to be a flaw of Android. It's a HUGE security risk too. I use rental cars frequently when I travel and I really don't want to give all my contact data to a car that has a new driver every other day or so.
I have a Motorola Atrix btw, not an HTC Dream. Maybe a mod could move this to a general Android forum.

If this does not work try the solution below. I just went out and trouble shooted with my radio. Seems like when I make the pair from the phone to radio I have the problem. When I make the pair from the radio to the phone its a non issue. The first phone I paired was my Galaxy note I went into the radio settings and searched for my phone; paired the phone and it maintains the connection perfect. When I switch between cd, aux and BT audio the phone stays connected. Calls come in voice switches to speaker and then after call if music is playing it resumes via what ever method it was playing pre call. ie CD, FM/AM or media app (pandora).
On my GS2 I tried making the connection from the phone first. ie making the phone seek the radio's BT signal. This is where I had problems. The stock music app would start after every call. ie send or recieve. I also got the annoying music starting everytime the device reconnected. ie the phone would dissconect everytime I switched the radio's input method between cd, aux or bt.
Soulution 1) Make the pair from your head unit and not the phone. Temporairly set your phone to visible and make the pair that way.
Solution 2) Headset block. Stops unwanted headset controls. In this case play on connect. Just remember to open app and hit the toggle button to on on your first use. found in the Play Store.
Solution 3) More of a work around. Media Button Router : App that lets you select what app you want to auto open on BT audio connect, or you can have it just display choices and cancel them out when you turn on the screen.
Both work well with the first being the better of the 2, but the second addresses you secondary criteria "or automatically start BeyondPod to be the app that launches on a bluetooth connection".
I think its solved now my this thread RIP. It frustrated the heck out me, but nowhere actually had a solution. Hope it does not come back in 4.0.
hi
Well Dec 2012 and I am still struggling with this...
I have a Subaru and a Subaru Factory radio with BT streaming. I cannot do "solution 1" as the car stereo does not have option to search for available devices.
The problem I have is not only the above but more...
0. I have the XXLSJ based Neatrom (Jelly Bean) on my galaxy S2
1. It automatically launches either "Power Amp" or the default JB music player. (earlier it used to do Power Amp, but lately it is doing the JB player)
2. I have switched off bluetooth controls in PowerAmp.
3. There is no option for switching off bluetooth in the default JB music player.
After I start the car, I usually switch on "google listen" and the try to play the podcast I want to hear,
next it starts playing and in a secon or two gets muted, (as some music app tries to autolaunch I guess)
then I do vol+ or vol- on the car stero and it starts playing the podcast, and then the phone freezes (hence it mutes again)
and I get a message "poweramp force closed" at this time if I am luck the bluetooth connection stays or sometimes
it resets, and then I have to go through the procedure again!
If I am lucky the bluetooth stays and I am able to listen to the podcast...
If I use the seek+ or seek- buttons on the car I can switch podcasts which is fine, but the Meta-tags shown on the screen are
not of the podcasts, they are still comming from poweramp. If I hit vol+ and vol- on the PHONE (not the car) then the meta-tags
switch to the next or previous song. Note that as the metatags switch I am still listening to 'google listen' and not poweramp.
I would have liked this to work cleanly.. but well...

Phonebook Transfer

I know its not supported natively, but I was wondering if anyone was working on the bluetooth stack for phonebook transfer?
I use my phone hooked up to my Pioneer headunit in my car via Bluetooth and would love to have my phonebook in the car so I could see the caller ID right on the screen.

If it supports AD2P then it should do it automatically. My JVC KW-NX7000BT does.
A2DP is not for phonebook transfer...
A2DP is designed to transfer a uni-directional 2-channel stereo audio stream, like music from an MP3 player, to a headset or car radio

The profile for phonebook transfer is PBAP.
Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP, PBA)
Phone Book Access (PBA)[1] or Phone Book Access Profile (PBAP) is a profile that allows exchange of Phone Book Objects between devices. It is likely to be used between a car kit and a mobile phone to:
allow the car kit to display the name of the incoming caller;
allow the car kit to download the phone book so the user to initiate a call from the car display.

So I guess its not working on mine then, I'm just imagining what I'm seeing on my unit. I haven't made any extra adjustments.
Bluetooth Profiles
Hi,
I have the same need for bluetooth phonebook transfers. I have done some research, and my issue (and maybe yours) is that my bluetooth headset unit uses the following profile for Phoenbook Transfer and sync:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_profile
1.26 Synchronisation Profile (SYNCH) , otherwise known as the PIM synchronization profile.
The Sony Ericsson HCB700 headset that I use, and many Parrot models with LCD displays and built-in phonebook Sync, use this.
These are not currently included in the Bluetooth stack of Cyanogen 4.0.4 ROM that I'm using, and probably not in the next official release of Android.
I know some Parrot units have the ability to upgrade to use OBEX, which the following group of developers are working on. You can refer to existing discussions and apps here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=551182
It would be great if a ROM developer would look into incorporating both the SYNCH and PBAP/PBA profiles into the next release....

Audio through bluetooth

Anyone know of a way to use a standard blue tooth piece as a head set? I'm not worried about it being in stereo or not, Id like to figure out how to do it. I mostly listen to AM stuff on my phone anyways. I would assume its possible as its glitched and done it after a phone call once before , I can not find an app or setting that will allow this. Any ideas? Im running Cyanogen 4.2.15.1 if that makes a difference.
Any ideas?
Hell yeah...just bought a bluetooth....plz...anyone?! is it even possible?
As long as your headset supports A2DP bluetooth profiles it should just connect automatically to 'phone and media audio', meaning you can stream music or whatever to your BT device. As far as I know most non-stereo headsets dont support A2DP.
You can try the BlueSoleil.
There is a Hardware Check tool. It is used for checking whether your Bluetooth adapter supported by BlueSoleil 6 before using BlueSoleil.
