How To Start A Case Company? - Off-topic

Where do companies like iBlason and Poetic get there products? I know they're from China, but what about websites? All these companies seem to be selling the same thing on Amazon. What website do they come from? Any ideas on starting a company similar to Poetic and iBlason?

You want to start a case company?

Just like any business you need capital to build inventory before you can do anything else, and just because you have inventory doesn't mean you can move it. If you don't understand the business world you really should do some research before you lose a lot of money.

The idea is to ship through Amazon. I'm just curious, that's all. It's just one of those things I would like to do if I had the time and money.

Yes, but what would you ship? You need an inventory before you could even begin to consider selling anything. A customer isn't going to wait for you to order their purchase then for it to ship to them.

That was advice. If you're considering entering into the sales world you need realistic expectations. Having to build up inventory is part of those. Whatever, good luck with your plans, I was simply trying to offer some of my experience since that was something I have some expertise in.

A little under a year maintaining inventory for the US warehouse for a Brazilian shipping company called So' Danca that specializes in dance wear but sells almost everything. Not having enough inventory has been the #1 problem "we've" run into. Customer's are typically less than thrilled to hear they have to wait to receive their order since it's out of stock.

Yeah, waiting for products to ship sucks. Thanks for the advice though. How much money do you think it would take to jump start something like this?

Honestly? A lot. There are hundreds of different Android devices you'd have to accommodate for. The only way to even realistically start would be with iPhone cases. Wide spread popularity and only one model to have to maintain inventory for.
If you insisted on specializing in Android phones you'd need to pick a few popular models (like the S3) and start small with them.

Maybe. Depends on a few factors. How much you're ordering determines both the unit price and the profit on each item. Obviously wholesale pricing is cheaper but that requires larger starting capital, which isn't always realistic. There's no reason to order 10,000 units if you're not even sure you can move 500 and be stuck with 9,500 cases that diminish in value when a new model comes out. You should expect to wind up losing a significant amount of money until you get some real data on what sells and how much of it sells around the time of year you're ordering it (hint, Christmas has a huge effect on sales).

@bluesonicc, don't take offense but there is a big thread going on here about guys that were scammed recently by member(s) selling tilts and sending lint rollers, candles, etc. Seriously, I think your best bet would be to use eBay/craigslist to sell your phone. You'd probably end up getting more money for it anyway. As is at this point, though, you're going to run into a lot of paranoia over your proposed sale.

Without a decent history here or on HoFo, your not going to get very far.
As stated before, sign up on eBay and list it there. That way the buyer and seller are protected (sort of).
And use punctuation and caps in the proper places.

You're not getting it - the scammer had all sorts of pictures of the Tilts he was selling. And yet, when the buyers opened their deliveries, they found lint rollers, candles and other assorted crap.
Just because a seller can prove that he is in possession of a Tilt does not guarantee that there will be a Tilt in the box you receive.
That doesn't mean, of course, that this particular seller is a/the scammer. If you trust him and feel that this is a good deal, then go for it. Nobody's stopping you.
But don't expect a lot of sympathy from this forum if you get screwed.

Making a trade online..need help

Just need a little help here
I currently have a nexus one, and I've gotten an offer for a trade for a mytouch slide and a Asus G51 series laptop.

Any help is appreciated!

Agreed.
i pretty much told the guy that he could have all my information and what not, and even if the deal doesn't go as planned on his part..he still has all of my information.
In addition, I also offered to put a tracking number on my shipment.
So if that isn't good enough, then I'll assume it was a scam.
is it on xda or other forum sites...if xda ask him for his past sales or trade
its over another site, so there is honestly no way to view some sort of feedback.
OP,
Don't do it. 100% scammer. In fact, I would never recommend doing any trades online. It's safer to sell the Nexus, and then buy whatever you want with the money. You'll always have some coverage that way.
Cheers.

Two scammers in one day

So I'm attempting to buy an iPad to use it to show clients photos, instead of printing portfolios. So I turn to good ol' craigslist. Got 2 scam replies. I see they are getting more clever. lol.
#1:
Hey, sorry for the delayed response, but someone already bought the iPad and
picked it up. You might want to try and buy one where I bought mine at. It's
an auction site kind of like ebay that has quite a few iPads.
I am usually able to pick them up there between $130 and $160, I think it's so
cheap because the site is newer and there aren't many bidders yet. Anyways,
I'd recommend you shop there if your still in need of an iPad. The site is
called BIDSAROO.com. I just checked and it looks like they have one
ending soon and the bid is at $53 so far.
When I signed up they gave me this coupon to give to friends, but I haven't used
it yet. Your more than welcome to use it, but I think it expires tomorrow. It's
good for placing some free bids on any auction. The coupon is: free3042
Hope this helps you!
-Chad
P.S. Here is a little secret I'll pass on to you. Right now there is a glitch/hack
on the site that will allow you to block other people from bidding on the item.
When you place a bid, hold down the enter key until the auction counts down to 0.
This should allow you to win any auction instantly. But I'm not sure how long it
last, I'm sure the site is working on fixing the glitch/hack.

Hi, I am getting back to you regarding the 64GB 3G iPad from Craigslist
My name is Arianna and I am now in Wolverhampton, United Kingdom.
I am selling the ipad for $450 USD. I have attached some pics with it to this email.
The ipad is still available and I hope you are still interested. The ipad was bought brand new from Apple a few weeks ago.
About the ipad I can say it's in perfect shape, as I used it only for a few weeks. Included in the $450 price is everything that came with the ipad.
The ipad is here with me.
I tried to be as thorough as I could with the presentation so you can have all the info if you decide to go ahead and buy it.
Please get back to me and let me know if you like the ipad if you're really interested in buying it.
Thanks,
Arianna

Your $450 gets you *only* what came with the iPad, not the iPad itself.

They're just hoping you'll skim over that since it doesn't really make any sense, not until you get the first part anyway...
Deception is fraud, so even though it doesn't say you're actually buying an iPad what they're doing is against the law.

Does the bargain price of the Nexus 4 make it less exclusive??

I was talking to one of my buddies here at work who is also an Android Freak like myself and we were discussing about how Google and LG can sell such a device packing what it does for $299 or $349.
It's seems like it has really beautiful build quality also, while Samsung sells a plastic dual core S3 with half the RAM, lower resolution screen for double the price!
Don't get me wrong, I am both happy and sad that the phone is so damn cheap. Glad because it is so dirt cheap that I can buy it as a backup phone to my Note 2 and just not worry about it falling and breaking or whatever. Replacing just the LCD on my Note 2 would probably pay for the whole Nexus 4!
Sad because since it is so cheap, it almost gives me the impression that it's some kind of gophone, pay as you go device. You know, a disposable phone. Something any 13 year old who mows lawns on the weekends can afford. Also judging by the comments and anticipation in this forum, those are most likely the majority of buyers. 13 year old geeks. =)
To me the device lost something special, exclusivity.
When I first picked up my Note 2, everybody at work was in awe and were ready to go purchase one immediately.
Then I told them how much I paid, $690 off contract and they all had sticker shock. Only one other fella at my work has a Note 2 besides me now, and that's my boss. The device feels special to me.
I know this post seems a bit ridiculous, but that's something that is bugging me a little about the device. What do you guys think? A little something inside kinda wish Google priced this device similar to the Galaxy Nexus. I think it would have been more special to me. Am I crazy?

Just because people are excited, you're assuming they're 13? Right...
... and imo, the price does not make it any less exclusive.
You could always buy two and strap them back-to-back for that "cachet" feel?
In any case, mainstream smartphones, like all technology, will always be getting less exclusive. If exclusivity is of import, the Tag Heuer Android phones look quite sharp, but probably will be behind on the OS curve...
Setting aside the ridiculousness of caring about exclusivity, your work colleagues likely got sticker-shock because they don't know much about the cellphone market. I'm sure they don't think of the iPhone as an "exclusive" device, and yet it's in the same range as the Note 2 off-contract. The Nexus 4 may not be a monetarily exclusive device, but it's still going to have limited sales due to the number of people who are informed enough about their options to pick one up.

Front-to-front. The back's the best-looking part, after all; and the part that displays the ever-important logos.
You should realize that there are people outside of XDA who don't even know that this phone exists.
You say less exclusive... I say more support.
How many people actually know what a Nexus phone even is? I don't know anyone who does. They don't really advertise and come to think of it, I've never seen anyone with a Nexus (any of them).
No, it makes it lighter on my wallet. I don't care how many other people have it as long as I do.

The price is being subsidized. Just making it easier to reach more people. This way el goog can make even more money with mobile ad revenue.

Which is why we shouldn't worry about the phone being out of stock. Hopefully the stock outweighs the demand.
If having exclusivity means paying $1000 dollars, I'll take a less exclusive phone any day for $350
You think $500+ phones are exclusive? You'll find more Note 2s and iPhones than N4.
That said, the more the N4s out there, the more accessories there will be for it. And thats always a good thing.

Perhaps. Google may keep production low for the first wave after watching previous launches. There seems to be a lot of uncertainty about the popularity of this phone due to the lack of LTE, expandable storage, and maybe inadequate battery. Those of us looking to buy the phone can only hope that it is either not that popular or that Google didn't lower production.

You know what I got from reading this? That you need to feel special/better than your friends. That's no reason to jack up the price of a phone.
Tell you what, I'll buy mine, then sell it to you for $859.99, that'll really blow your colleagues out of the water! Or how about avoiding the faux pas of bragging about how much money you spent on a cell phone. Hell, if anything I'll be showing my friends this phone and telling them how cheap it was. Look at this thing, it's awesome, and cost half the price of your NoteII!

I don't see anything wrong of a 13 year old can save up and purchase this device, it allows a younger audience to own a modern smartphone without the hefty price tag. Exclusivity to one type of group (in this case being age) isn't somthing company's want for their products, and if they lure in the younger users with the low price tag, that means more marketshare for them. The nexus 4 isn't a fashion item like more popular phones such as the iPhone, or even the galaxy s3, it's made for contract free or value plan customers who want a fast phone for a reasonable price.
Lol I think this thread should be closed. =/
Who cares? Does it matter if the phone is not as "exclusive" as you would like?
It's an amazing phone at a great price, it will further push the Android ecosystem.
If you want exclusive, stick with foreign imports of obscure devices.

A Note 8 selling for $300 didn't ring red flags to you? You won't find anywhere that cheap right now a legit one. If it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
Craigslist? Oh your screwed on getting money back. There's fishy people on there. Stay away from craigslist.
FB, Offerup, Letgo, ebay, etc way better. Some knock offs can go for a decent amount. See how much your fake one going for. Post online and let people know its fake. Might be able to get a decent amount of your money back. Seller should of told you regardless.

I saw a few of them selling between 300-400, they were all probably scams. It sells for like $90. This knockoff can be used on T-Mobiles network? Might just donate it to someone.

Don't trust people ever online that you don't know. There's always wolfs out there. Don't be a sheep. Be smart. I literally put in my mind everybody is a thief. Although I would love for someone to try to rob me with force. I will help them to hell with my glock 45.
Once again stay far away from craigslist. Yeah donate it to women batter shelter. Claim on your taxes.
I can't tell you how many times I've heard bad things about craigslist. Fake money, robbery, broke products, fake stuff, scams, etc. That site full of scum bags. Delete app and never use again use.

Nice 40. Cal. You can't go wrong with glock. Such a great gun. Definitely most reliable semi pistol hands down.
