Hi there.
I tried to update my I9000 to Cyanogenmod 9. And it failed.
I think this happend because I had the CF-Root before. I switched to ext4 and the system runs good.
Updated via CWM failed and a update to 2.3.6 with Odin failed with Error "failed to mount /dbdata".
Can I reset the system?
Please help me! I want my smartphone back.
Thanks in advance!
Use Odin to flash back to gingerbread and start again.
GT-I9000 / SEMA / SLIMBEAN2.3
Like knuckles said, go and revert it back to 2.3.6 first, without root, and start over. There are very detailed guides over at Q&A.
Good luck flashing CM9! It's a really nice rom on ICS.
Thanks. First, flashing with a stock version from samfirmware doesnt work.
I found this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=984140) which fixed the problem.
After flashing the stock version and afterwards the CM9 it works again.
Thanks for your support.
Hi guys, today I tried to install Jelly Bean from AOKP over my ICS from Team Nyx, but I got stock .... I can only access to download mode, but not to CWM .... I already tried to flash GINGERBREAD XXJVU via Odin but did not work, I also tried to reset the device with JV9_JV9_JV5 but also did not work ... is there any way to flash CWM or reset the phone from Odin ??..
Thanks !!
The only way to reset through ODIN is by flashing a rom. So keep trying.
Go into download mode & flash a gb stock rom with odin.
Then turn off phone go into download mode again and flash your cf root.
search for it here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108
Done doing that turn on phone and u Will see cwm icon click it and reboot into recovery. Full wipe
& Flash the jb rom of your choice u may have 2 do it twice
Thanks for your answer guys ! I finally made it work with a Froyo 2.2 ROM I9000UGJK3 .... I´m wondering how do I know which Gingerbread version is compatible to my GT I9000M phone ..... I have seen lot of ROMs, but none says work in Mexico .... Do you know how I can know this ?? Thanks !
Try I9000UGKG3

Today I got the 4.1.2 ROM from SAMMOBILE at: http://www.sammobile.com/2012/11/28/n7000xxlsa-–-galaxy-note-android-4-1-2-jelly-bean-test-firmware/
As usual I used Odin 3 to flash the files and everything went fine, however I was convinced I would lost the Root, and so did I... I tried installing the Philz's safe Kernel I had for 4.1.1 N7000XXLS2 but after that when rebooting there is no Samsung logo anymore and the phone never boots up.
Any ideas would be highly appreciated!

How did you attempt to install Philz kernel?
I installed Philz kernel with Odin 1.85 and after that installed it again through CWM since the Odin install didn't gave me root.

Use the xxlsa kernel not the xxls2 one

If you can't get into recovery, flash the firmware again using odin and then do the procedure again using zip file xxlsa philz kernel.
Rooting N7000XXLSA (4.1.2)
I installed the ROM over my stock ICS 4.0.4 N7000ODDLR4 usin PC Odin 3.
An advice I can give is, after and before installation, always do a factory reset from recovery mode! Otherwise I myself and lot of others had experienced some bugs due on data from previous OS files.
For rooting, I loaded Clockwork Recovery Mod 6.0.1.2 and used SuperSU from Chainfire to gain root access. No mishap for me, as I didnt get any trouble loading to 'recovery mode'
Now the JB 4.1.2 on my Note N7000 is rooted and open for me!!
Hope this helps somewhat.
P.S. the SuperUser which I used to root 4.0.4 didnt work on this 4.1.2
And I 'didnt' do any kernal change as I have no idea how to do what with kernal, except its use.

Hello everyone.
I have a problem which I hope you'll be willing and able to help with.
I wanted to try out CyanogenMod 10 on my Galaxy S I9000. I was on 2.3.3 so I used Odin to update to 2.3.6 (rooted). Then I installed superuser and mod manager, after which I installed Clockwork. I then used Clockwork to install CM 10. It worked flawlessly and this was my first time flashing ever.
However, I didn;t like CM 10 and decided to revert back to Gingerbread. I read it was as easy as simply using Odin to flash 2.3.6 again. I tried that but got stuck into a bootloop displaying the S sign over and over and over again. I tried downloading the PIT file which made Odin check Repartition by default and flashing like that but it didn't help, I'm still stuck in bootloop. I can access download mode without a problem but I'm stuck in bootloop forever.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.
Update: I found a thread detailing how to get back to Froyo so I tried it. I used a PIT file, PDA file, PHONE file and CSC file all separately and it worked. Now I'll just have to update back to 2.3.6 No idea why I was only able to revert back to Froyo and not Gingerbread, but it worked, thread can be closed.
Hey,
Bit of a late answer, but so you can refer to it if you ever go back to custom roms.
When you come back to stock from CM10, or any custom rom for that matter, you need to flash in a file named dbsdata.rfs.tar. Fixes the bootloops (custom roms and stock have different data partitions so incompatibilities in data partition cause bootloops like yours)
