[Q] Where can I find the CM9 system theme? Or something similar? - Samsung Galaxy Mini

I'd like to have a go at making a theme for my mini running CM9.
I thought I'd get a theme, decompile it, and start modifying it, but every theme I try (even those that are supposed to be LDPI), I get the message: "Sorry, this theme is missing assets for your device's screen size."
As far as I can tell the only theme that has a complete set of assets for the mini is the CM9 system theme. (If anyone could tell me of another, that would also make me deliriously happy.)
I did see a thread that suggested it was inside ThemeManager.apk, but when I tried decompiling that, there were no pngs in it, so I don't think that can be right.
I would really like a complete, mini-compatible theme to use as a template.
Any advice most appreciated.

just tap on "apply anyway" and it will work, it's normal.

Thanks yackovsky, but I'd really like to know what is missing. Perhaps it's just me being obsessive.
I'm now scouring howtos and other references to find out how these things actually work.

do you know achep
he is a rt and his themes also shows the error (cant say why the error is there) so just ignore it

it happens because themer can't put icon for every app, so if you have an app that icon wasn't changed, it will show error (missing assets) simple? oh yeah, it also applies to every other graphic element in theme, not only icons

Default CM9 Theme aren't in ThemeManager.apk, CM9 System theme are in SystemUI, and Framework.

Themed Cyanogen 6.1.1 ROM - Dark/Black

I have themed my MT3GS with what I think is an awesome looking theme. The problem is I did not do any of the images myself, I picked, poked, prodded and pulled various images from some very great themed ROMs such as RemixedDarkBlue, ProdigalSunColorblind version, GTXSlide1.1, CR_mod1.35_OTA, BlackSlide1.3, and a few other various finds from different areas here on XDA. All different devs and versions and I can't really recall exactly what from where I pulled things from.
I did start off with doing a basic port of the BlackSlide1.3 into CM6.1.1 for the black keyboard and base of the theme, from there I opened up the .zip file and manually extracted and placed misc. images from the various ROMs I mentioned before and themed the icons, status bar, and color scheme of the overall ROM. I put the Fonts from the GTXslide in here as I like a little style. Hope you guys enjoy it.
This is the stable release of Cyanogen 6.1.1 base with a few of the apps removed, if you are already using that release just flash this over it to theme your rom. I did use the ADW App from RemixedDarkBlue as I like the trash on the bottom of the screen, and I like the icon in it as well. I placed that trash icon into the 3D Gallery to conform the rom slightly more ;-).

The question I have is how would I go about uploading this and offering this to the community while giving props to everyone I pulled images from? As I love how my phone looks and thinks others may as well.
P.S. I'll post Screenshots soon as I find a screenshot app if you guys would like a preview of how it looks. It's a Dark/Black theme.

Great attitude my friend, and to solve your dilemma you dont need to say the exact names of the authors, just point out the name of the themes and that the icons and stuff are not yours.... thats it, this is sharing comunnity so i dont think anyone would come and say "hey thats my icon" lol dont worry about it
Im glad we have some more people trying to contribute
Sounds awesome so far! I hope you find a way to package it all up.
As far as screenshots, I use "ShootMe", myself. Not sure what else is out there, but that one works well enough for me

Thanks, my kid and I had a blast taking screenshots with that app using the 'shout' option!!
Can you also possibly make this a metamorph theme file too? That would save me a lot of time

I didn't use metamorph to theme the ROM, I used something called Theme-Porter_beta_3 by Daneshm90 here in XDA. I can supply the files I got from the theme porter (aprox. 30 meg .zip file) for you to push into a CM6.1.1 ROM. In that zip I supplied the themed ADW from RemixedDarkBlue and the ADW that comes with the CM6.1.1. I Honestly just pasted those app and framework files into my CM6.1.1. (***NOTE=the ADWlauncher inside the app folder is the one that comes with the CM6.1.1, the standalone ADWlauncher is from RemixedDarkBlue***)
If you could point me in the direction of what metamorph program you use, maybe I can be of more assistance. I'd love to be able to package this in an easy to distribute kind of way if possible ;-).

Awesome! Haha, yeah I actually had that for a while before I found out you could change the way it takes a pic. :x Glad to hear you guys had fun though
As for the theme, I really like that unlock screen. Very slick!
Thanks, got the lockscreen slides from alt+dark posted in the dark hero theme from somewhere. **Reminder** none of themes images are mine, I simply found and compiled them all to make a singular theme

but I really like how you made your theme dark n stuff its very nice , if you could make this into a metamorph theme it would be greatly appreciated, but if not its really no problem.
This is tremendous. Thank you so much for sharing.

I like how my phone looks right now. I would only like to add this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=485783&d=1294675798
I see, can push the settings and settings provider apks from the .zip into your ROM via adb. if you like the font style, push /system/fonts. Hope that helps.
I realized after flashing this over CM6.1, the Menu button unlocks the phone ignoring what's checked/unchecked in Cyanogen Settings. Flashed Cyanoginger over this and it's back to normal. Could it be this theme or something else?
The menu button unlock deals with the 6.1.1 update, Cyanoginger is 6.1. All I've done was import image files. I didn't touch any of the .xml or any other base framework file. If you like 6.1, here is a link to 6.1.0. Hope that helps ;-)
Little spoiler though, I am working on a from scratch theme that will be dark in nature still, but will look kind of like brushed metal instead of shiny. I will be posting screenshots once I get all these keyboard/button transparencies and colors situated. This new theme will take a few weeks or so to complete because I will be doing everything from scratch. The Keyboard, selection buttons, radio buttons, check boxes, status bar and icons, and possibly the icons within the apps will be completely redone. I tried to learn the meta morph technique but find the Theme Porter that @migueltherocker turned me onto much better since it is very simple and works flawlessly. Feel free to post things you guys would like to see and I might try and implement those ideas into this next theme .
Snap.
I.
Thanks for the info. Keep up the good work!
Are you sure Cyanoginger is 6.1, though? The thread says 6.1.1.
Oh, my mistake. I know that the 6.1.1 has a known issue with the menu key unlock. Last I checked Cyanoginger was 6.1 and I believe the menu issue was not introduced until 6.1.1. I've only fooled with the image files and left everything else intact. Maybe the latest nightly removes the menu key issue? I'm simply running the latest stable 6.1.1 available on the CyanogenMod site. It never bothered me as the phone never leaves my side and I am attatched to it at the waist pretty much.
Alright, Just letting you guys know I am dropping making a new theme for CM.6.1.1 due to the CM.7 Nightly release. If anyone wants me to further work on 6.1.1 I will do so after I finish my first custom theme for CM.7. Otherwise I'll be dropping this project.

Theme Not Showing Up Properly in Theme Chooser

Hello everyone.
I am trying to make my first theme. I Followed the guide here and for the most part, it has worked.
However, when i go into the theme chooser, my theme's preview does not show up at all. it skips from the 2/5 theme (Cyanbread) to the 4/5 theme (System). If i get it just right in the middle, it does say 3/5 and at the bottom my theme but when i apply it it simply says that the theme does not have assets for my screen size. when i force it to apply it works just fine.
Attached are pictures to show my problem on my device. Ill try to upload the source and apk later when im on a proper connection (currently on a tethered 3g connection through my evo.)
Thank you for any help!
I had this happen once. I believe it has to do with the preview.png or something in the manifest. I can look once you are able to upload your apk.

[Q] Changing icons for theme

I'm in the process of making a theme but I have come across an issue I just can't seem to resolve. Basically everything goes fine for my theme except the icons. I downloaded another theme and applied it and the icons in my app drawer change. Yet I don't see where these changed took place in the actual apk when I decompile it. The only changed icon is the com_browser_ic_launcher icon and nothing else. Yet this is the icon that is changed in the app drawer which doesn't make sense because I don't see any related changed in any xml files.
I've been following this guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=964391
I downloaded the templatebread theme and have been changing what I wanted but now I am stuck on the icons. I can change the launcher icons without any hiccups now I just need to find out how to change the actual icon thats in the app drawer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Well obviously its done with xml and its all based on the process names the process names have to be exact. When they are it will work even if you have one error in the process names eclipse will throw an error or should and they wont work... I've never done it but i've read alot about it.
That's what I figured but for some reason after doing a few restarts the icons now appear as they should. I guess that the old icons were cached or something.

APK that go launcher will see as an icon pack

Anybody know what needs to be defined in an apk for Go Launcher to see it as an icon pack?
(And without using their "thememaker")

I have the same question!
+1 for icon pack
studying urcipo
How detailed of an explanation are you looking for here?
If you know everything you need to know about making an icon pack and just want the easiest no BS answer, it is this:
Create a Go Launcher Theme, changing only the icons. Yes, it must start off as a theme, just change only the icons if you wish. Assign each icon to its proper internal activity name Compile into an .apk and then sign the .apk. I'm guessing the red bold parts are the things that you would need to look into and are possibly not doing now.
More? Ok.
You don't have to use theme factory, you can use a template somebody else has created. ThemeFactory makes a good reference to the template, not the other way around. The template is a much nicer thing, trust me.
I'll start off with the simple-ish version I guess. In order to be seen as an "icon pack", all of the included icons are automatically assigned to their proper spots, and the user doesn't have to change each icon individually. I'm guessing this is what you mean by an "icon pack"?
Shortest answer on how to do this: Create a Go Launcher Theme that only changes icons.
You don't want to use their "Theme Factory". Ok. You have a few options here then.
1) "drag-and-drop" your own icons on top of somebody else's iconpack.
2) Eclipse . I'm hoping you know something about Eclipse
If you know nothing of the Android SDK or Eclipse, and aren't ready to study a bit and learn, go with option 1) or use themefactory. Either way, it'll be defined as a Go Launcher Theme in the end. But with only icons to apply.
But I'm assuming you either know something or dont mind learning. You can start easy with a template.
You'll probably be using a Go Launcher Theme Template in every case...rather than handcoding every single icon name out...unless you're really just hardcore in love with writing code.
I think this may be the best template. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1421724 Worth the read. Getting a bit outdated with some of the new/chanaged SDK coding, but it's pretty easy to figure out what to change on your own.
Also, Quinny889 has two of them made. . Reminder...this is NOT the dreaded ThemeFactory app . These are templates that you import into Eclipse and customize/fill-in. The template then does the work of "dealing with" the Go Launcher/SDK compatibility issues.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1324378 Best one. Recommend using this one.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1314753 Older version, takes some tweaking to make work, but far more streamlined/simple once you do figure it all out. I recommend the newer template.
(Both are templates courtesy of Quinny 899!)
They come with instructions in PDF form as well...quite simple if you take the time.
Basically, fill in with your own icons. Compile the APK. Download/use ZIPSIGNER2 or similar APK signing program on the APK so it can be installed.
http://activities.droidicon.com/ -->You can get the names of the "activities" you assign your icons to here. For example, search for go launcher and you'll see what I mean.
Yes, it's a bit tedious in any case to assign each icon to its proper spot.
The TL;DR version to answer your question if you already knew what you were doing: Grab a template, build it up, compile. Sign it.

Question about app icons EmotionUI theme

Hello everybody,
I'm trying to figure out if I can create a EmotionUI theme which also changes the icons of individual apps.
Is this possible?
I know some system icons are named as for example: com.android.browser.png
Would I simply have to find the name for the app icon and change it to for example: com.whatsapp.png?
I don't know how to find these values if this is the way to go.
But I would very much like my theme to be able to change ALL icons I could possibly make for the apps I have, not just the system icons.
Also is there some sort of emotionui forum this question should be posted? I couldn't find it...
EDIT: I also found out I am unable to change theme. I can change the appearance of the current theme I'm using by taking stuff from other theme's, but when I apply a other theme the theme will stay on the current one and doesn't switch. This includes the lockscreen theme and some other things I wish to still change like fonts and such.
(This might have something to do with me soft bricking my phone found in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-p7/help/ive-soft-bricked-phone-p7-l10-t3258350)
EDIT2: Okay it seems like this method is working. I just use an apk extractor to check which value an app has. For whatsapp this was indeed com.whatsapp.png which worked. However for com.android.vending.png which is google playstore, that one doesn't seem to work. I would like to find out why...
This way I can have all my icons in a custom theme
EDIT3: after my factory reset in my other post I couldn't change the themes anymore.
