mate i had the same problem. no matter what i did i couldn't get kies to recognise my phone. You need to use odin and manually upgrade your phone to gingerbread. once you do that kies will work again. i can't remember where i found it but the instructions are in the forums somewhere. once you have done this it will be much easier to move forward with root etc... hope this helps.

Try to install Samsung Kies, do a Firmware upgrade (If possible) and then try the Odin (which version you have?) again... This way worked for me.

Maybe it's the USB cable?

Yes, try use cwm flashable zip I think it available on this forum, but I found mine on Google search. But forget link -_-! Sorry

[Q] How to change my recovery mode from E3 to E2?

Hello,
I have a galaxy s with android 2.2.
I wan't to install Dearky 8 Rom on it.
I have root it using 4Zroot.
I have backup efs directory.
I have backedup my rom using rom meneger.
My recovery version is E3 and i have been told i need a E2 version to flash.
How can i downgread my version from E2 to E2?

Install Speedmod and you will have Clockwork recovery for flashing Darkyy's rom

You'll have to use the Odin version to flash speedmod. Once you've done that, you'll have 2e recovery.
Use this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788108 with match with your version with odin it will root and patch to be recovery2e ^^.
if u r not familiar with odin andflashing first instaal z4 control on your mobile phone. then copy the .tar file on ur SD card. then run it wth z4 control. goodluck
which one?

It depens on your current rom. go to settings>about phone>baseband version
the last 3 letters for example JPA,JPU,JPY... show ur rom type. if it is JPU you should download JPU file.

Or flash an older stock with odin http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9731908&postcount=3025
Hello,
We are many frenchs with the same problem : our SGS is on Froyo with recovery 3e, with a I9000POJP5 ROM, which (AFAIK) is'nt listed in any of the kernel. (pda:I9000POJP5, phone:I90000XXJPP, csc:I9000BOGJP1)
We want to get recovery 2e to make our ROM backup, but since there aren't kernel with our ROM specified, we don't know which one use (speedmode? CF-root? JP6 specified?), and don't want to loose the possibility to backup our original ROM.
Have you some advice?
I have installed karnel version speedmod-k12i-500hz #108.
still when i am entering the recovery mode the blue and yellow indicate E3.
when i get the green screen it is indicate speedmod.
is it safe to flash darkey 8 using the green recovery mode by selecting "install zip from sd card" then "choose from sd card" then selecting my zip image?
can i backup my current rom using the green speedmod recovery screen?
thanks again.
Hi vemplord
Before you flash CWM recovery, you can try the attached file. Use root explorer and put the recovery file at "system/bin" and xbin contents at "system/xbin" and reboot. But of cause back-up first. I just did it and it works. Thanks to the dev who post all those files.
Good luck

You can flash any custom rom irrespective of android version
so there is no problem in downgrading from 4.0.4 to 2.3.6
but if u want to flash the stock rom then u need odin and after flashing stock rom, flash the recovery using odin
then you can restore from recovery
Well as the person above me replied , if you were using cm7 based rom then just reboot into cwm recovery and restore the nandroid backup (if you made one ). That's all about it. Do wipe CACHE and DATA before restoring.

Bro don't worry.
step 1. download the respective firmware of the region where you live from here
step 2. Make sure you installed the drivers for sgm correctly
step 3. Download ODIN and ops file
step 3. Boot in download mode by pressing home+vol down+power key simultaneously. And finally connect the device to pc through USB.
step 4. Just select one package on odin choose OPS file and the md5 file downloaded in step 1, then start the process
step 5. Boom its done.
Need further help go here.
Just a simple, download cm7 rom and flash same as you flash cm9.wipe data and cache before.

I currently using ICS 4.0.4 and would like to use JB. I am just trying to know if there is any means, we could able to use external sd card for the update as there is option...
if you are talking about the option is android recovery 3e then No. to install a new rom you need CWM recovery, Mobile odin or PC odin.
nokiamodeln91 is right, you need cwm , or Odin for flashimg new roms
if i download the german firmware JB and flash with odin, Will i get the update NEE? Do I need to have german CSC as well to install in in my GNote which is running NEE ICS 4.0.4

no you will not get the NEE update. Only DBT updates.. if NEE JB comes out then manually update using odin. You can install any rom.

Enjoy JB. But keep in mind that JB out of the box might not be smooth. You may need to root it and remove some boatwares.

I accidentally wiped out the internal memory @ ROM of my tablet ( Samsung SM-T330NU). It is now frozen on a download screen with the Android logo in the middle , I cannot turn it off or go into recovery mode with any of the usual buttons.
In addition, the PC doesn't see it, so I cannot use Odin either from the PC or the tablet.
How can I fix it? I thought I could download the stock firmware on the PC and copy it to the tablet external card, but I am not to sure how to do it. The stock firmware I was able to download is an MDS file. Can I copy it to the Ext SD card of the tablet as it is, or do I have to do something else?May be extract the files. How?
Thanks for the help
Ittiandro
Problem solved! . My tablet was able to connect to the computer with Odin and I could flash the Stock ROM . Never thought it would ! One of those wrong assumptions!
Thanks
Ittiandro

UKF is compatibile with any CoCore, it might give you warning if it is some CoCore that is not added to its database, but you can ignore warning and install. Yes, you will have CWM permanently. There will be no problems for phone with it.

No, you can do it when you install it first time. It needs CWM, it is for updating. You must do it the way I told you.
Or you can use shaan temporary CWM (I test and use it myself)
Download the "update.zip" from the thread, then flash the zip using stock recovery...
It works on ALL versions of android (yeah, even on 2.3.6)
Then if you want cocore, just flash the zip of cocore through recovery and done it, you got cocore on your phone...
Just don't forget to read the cocore thread and always remember cocore kernel only works at stock jb 4.1.2 based ROMs...

CoCore = permanent, Shaaan's CMW = temp.
P.S. And you can flash CoCore ZIP with that temp, then you get permanent. If you do not want to use Univeral kernel flasher.
