My phone was heating up a lot and had terrible battery life. I installed setcpu and noticed the default min frequency was running at 1024mhz so I changed it to 384mhz and it doesn't even heat up anymore and my battery is lasting noticeably longer

No it's just reported incorrectly. Without changing it use an app to view actual clock speed. It will drop down to 384 even though min is set to 1024. Placebo effects are awesome.

Low percentage... I do sleep, you know? The point is I still have half battery life with that much time.

I don't think it's a good measure of battery life. Normally it's measured during the day when you're out. For example, I put my SGS2 in a draw when I got my Nexus 4 about ten days ago and it's got 30% battery....

HOW ON EARTH DID YOU GET THAT?
As my screen shot shows, my Android System and Android OS use a huge portion of my phone's battery, and Screen shows how little I used it today. I'm at 47% in 6 hours - ridiculous when coming from a GN that would go all day (literally over 24 hours easily).
Notice my phone is hardly ever idle. There's some kind of bug keeping it awake.
When I went from 4.2 to 4.2.1 the battery problem really seemed to take off, but I wasn't on 4.2 that long (1/2 a day) before updating so I really don't know. Regardless, the battery drain is HUGE. I even hard-reset it and set it back up. No help.

Software issues are awesome.
Could you check if there are any wakelocks? Something that keeps your CPU busy all the time, like a locked up process? CPU usage in idle? Does it clock down properly when in idle?
You see, there is a lot of stuff that can be wrong with it.

Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
Just remember your phone ramps up to 1026mhz when it detects touch input because of project butter. If you let it idle about two seconds it will return to the minimum that you have set.
If you obviously don't care about project butter then you can get something like no frills CPU which locks the frequency and keeps the system from changing it.
Here's my battery life using 1.2 max and 384 min with screen on and 7xx max and 384 min when screen is off.

I use stock 2.3.4 v20 b... do any app with push notification use processing speed and hence raise temp???. I have a attached a image of time frame during i was listening to music
My best guess to much battery is dissipated in form of heat..

It just coughed out smoke
When charging and gaming with wifi enabled data, and also high screen brighness, mine gets pretty hot too.
I think its just normal, but keep in mind that li-ion batteries will die a lot faster if they are exposed at high temperatures (>30ºC) for a long time and fully charged.

Does this means that newer version v10e generate more heat?

Quick battery life question for you guys. When your battery is almost totally depleted, what does your screen on time look like? 3 hours? 4 hours? I have a GS3 and for me it's somewhere between 2.5 and 3 hours. I assume the One would be a bit better due to the LCD screen instead of the amoled.

I've been getting about 2.5 hours of screen on time. Generally amoled screens use less power than LCD.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app
Really? My gs3 does 4-5 hours. And yes, I use the phone.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2
I'm pretty sure amoled uses less power also, particularly with darker colors.
My screen on time has varied depending on usage. Mostly I have been playing games, the 3d ones tend to take a lot more juice. Certain less intensive games and regular browsing/texting/videos seem to draw a lot less. I'd range my screen on time from 3-5 hours depending on this.
So I'm having a hard time finding the screen on time. I go into the batter setting, check usage and scroll down below the apps to system apps and cannot find it. Am I missing something? I apologize for the ignorance but I'm having a hard time.

Anybody tested out the kernel yet? Any good/bad reviews? Im itching to try it out so bad, but I tried the other kernel in the G2 development thread by Wooster (i think) and it jacked my phone up a lil bit. Wouldnt officially connect to Sprint network and wouldnt let me update my profite while I was on it. So I'm waiting to hear some feedback before I try this one out to save me the headache. A good custom kernel is the last piece of the puzzle I need to be totally happy on a STOCK ROM for damn near the first time ever lol. Loving my Xposed tweaks now...just need that custom kernel to make it officially official lol.
Does anyone know if this helps with disabling the Screen Adaptive brightness? To get rid of the low brightness flicker while browsing web pages.
I'm using it and I really haven't had any issues. I download No Frills CPU and it's clocked at 2.496 GHz max and 300 MHZ min with ondemand governor. I do see an improvement on my battery but that's with slight usage. That's all the info I have for now hope this helps:good:

Lol not necessarily. Just might mean not enough people have tried it yet. Nobody (with an LS980) complained about wootevers build either and it jacked up my phone when I flashed it.

Do we have a stock kernel to revert to if needed?

I tried it last night then did a benchmark and my scores went from the 36ks to barely 18 splashed my old backup

Frequencies are handled properly now. CPU isn't handled to clock up all cores to max when benchmarking applications are run anymore. OEMs do this a lot and it's considered cheating. That's why the Nexus 5 doesn't score as high in bechmarks, because AOSP doesn't cheat.
