Screen on time? - Sprint HTC One (M7)

Quick battery life question for you guys. When your battery is almost totally depleted, what does your screen on time look like? 3 hours? 4 hours? I have a GS3 and for me it's somewhere between 2.5 and 3 hours. I assume the One would be a bit better due to the LCD screen instead of the amoled.

I haven't been able to deplete my battery yet. Today My phone has been off the charger for 10 hours. Screen on time 2 hours. 47% battery left

Is that connected to strictly Wi-Fi?

I've been getting about 2.5 hours of screen on time. Generally amoled screens use less power than LCD.
Sent from my HTCONE using xda app-developers app

Really? My gs3 does 4-5 hours. And yes, I use the phone.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk 2

I'm pretty sure amoled uses less power also, particularly with darker colors.
My screen on time has varied depending on usage. Mostly I have been playing games, the 3d ones tend to take a lot more juice. Certain less intensive games and regular browsing/texting/videos seem to draw a lot less. I'd range my screen on time from 3-5 hours depending on this.

So I'm having a hard time finding the screen on time. I go into the batter setting, check usage and scroll down below the apps to system apps and cannot find it. Am I missing something? I apologize for the ignorance but I'm having a hard time.

No. I also use an hour to play music at the gym with my bluetooth headphones

I guess I just assumed amoled screens used more juice since mine is so awful. Either way I'm getting a one.

I have hit 5 hours 51 minutes at the peak, but 4+ hours is easy. I'm always using battery saver though. I never game, so having the phone at full speed isn't important to me

yea judging from what I've been seeing on the forums you should be able to get around 4 hrs screen on time. I'll be kinda mad if i get less than that with moderate usage considering I get 2-2.5 hrs screen on with my GS2 at the moment.
Im getting my phone today so I'll report back after a few days of use

5 hours a day is normal. 5:40 is peak.

Possible heat/battery life fix

My phone was heating up a lot and had terrible battery life. I installed setcpu and noticed the default min frequency was running at 1024mhz so I changed it to 384mhz and it doesn't even heat up anymore and my battery is lasting noticeably longer

No it's just reported incorrectly. Without changing it use an app to view actual clock speed. It will drop down to 384 even though min is set to 1024. Placebo effects are awesome.

I don't think it's a good measure of battery life. Normally it's measured during the day when you're out. For example, I put my SGS2 in a draw when I got my Nexus 4 about ten days ago and it's got 30% battery....

HOW ON EARTH DID YOU GET THAT?
As my screen shot shows, my Android System and Android OS use a huge portion of my phone's battery, and Screen shows how little I used it today. I'm at 47% in 6 hours - ridiculous when coming from a GN that would go all day (literally over 24 hours easily).
Notice my phone is hardly ever idle. There's some kind of bug keeping it awake.
When I went from 4.2 to 4.2.1 the battery problem really seemed to take off, but I wasn't on 4.2 that long (1/2 a day) before updating so I really don't know. Regardless, the battery drain is HUGE. I even hard-reset it and set it back up. No help.

Software issues are awesome.
Could you check if there are any wakelocks? Something that keeps your CPU busy all the time, like a locked up process? CPU usage in idle? Does it clock down properly when in idle?
You see, there is a lot of stuff that can be wrong with it.

Just remember your phone ramps up to 1026mhz when it detects touch input because of project butter. If you let it idle about two seconds it will return to the minimum that you have set.
If you obviously don't care about project butter then you can get something like no frills CPU which locks the frequency and keeps the system from changing it.
Here's my battery life using 1.2 max and 384 min with screen on and 7xx max and 384 min when screen is off.

Nexus 7 battery dies fast

Hi, I got a nexus 7 for Christmas and the battery was really good lasted all day, but I had to return it for an exchange because there was circle marks on the screen,
my new nexus 7's battery dies really fast, i left it on charge all night and it fully charges so I don't think its a battery issue maybe a software issue?
I don't know if this makes a difference but my first nexus had 4.2.1 pre installed but my new nexus I had to update it myself.
Is there a way to fix this or should I return my nexus to PC world?
Thanks in advance!
Tom

The main difference I found when switched from 4.1 to 4.2 is that Wifi didn't go on standby when the device wasn't awake. So go into wifi settings and change it so it's only connected to Wifi when the device is in use or charging.
I changed the Wi-Fi settings now, I'll let you know if it helps.
Thanks

What? Could you restate that so that we (or at least I) can understand? It sounds like you're saying 2 different things.
Hello, I'm in the UK and I'm facing a problem similar to yours.
I got my device at the beginning of December, and used to get ~8-9 hours of screen time. Now, I'm barely getting 6, and you can add screen lifting and back light bleeding issues to that as well.
I'm going to preform a factory reset in a few days, if that doesn't work, I'm considering getting it to customer care/replaced.
PS, I'm stock 4.2.1 and my Wi-Fi doesn't turn off when it's in sleep mode. :-\

mine last 4.5 days with light web browsing. mostly just mx video player. 17% idle. you need to see whats keeps your device awake and not letting it goto sleep properly. i'm on latest smoothrom. i manually turn off wifi when i am not gonna use it for awhile. when i 1st got my nexus 7 i had a similar issue with mediaserver process using 80% of battery and killing the device within 9 hours. i couldnt pin point the culprit but hasn't happened again.
Its a shame really I honestly thought Google had made a good and reliable tablet I had to return my other nexus back again today because I dropped it and the battery wouldn't charge so they replaced so I'll see how the battery does

Battery life 1 week
Hi,
I own my note 3 now 3 weeks and use it primarily as an organizer (acalendar+) with phone-capabilities. I dont use big internet-bandwith. So I usually use the GSM-network and avoid UMTS. I rooted my device to be able to reduce processorspeed via juicedefender as soon as the screen is switched off, As I found it unacceptable to live with a short screen-timeout, I installed "screen off and lock" to switch off the screen manually as soon as I am done.
I am syncing my Lotus-Notes calendar at work with google and sync once an hour (controlled by juice-defender) via gsm.
I usually use the calendar twice an hour (as I enter most of the appointmernts in Lotus Notes I do only reading)
Bluetooth is switched off, GPS is switched off
with this I enhanced my battery lifetime from 2.5 days to 7 days
Last week my note 3 survived 1 week without charging. This week I am at 68% after almost 3 days (see attached screenshot)
