What info does ur phone show under Settings/About phone/ Baseband version ?? If it is Unknown, u probably need to flash a modem.

I flashed darkys newest rom successfully, everything runs very smoothly, however, I now cannot connect to Bell's network. I have Bell selected under the wireless settings but my phone has no H symbol and no bars.
Any ideas? I've tried dialing *#2263# and have it set to automatic.
Have you checked if your APN is still set. Try flashing the JL2 modem, also you can try removing/reinserting SIM Card. If you need the bell APN send me a pm and ill send them to you by email.

Yes, pda.bell.ca is still stored under APN and checked. Taking out the sim card didn't do it.
Thanks for your input.
Install the JL2 modem (latest modem specifically for our phones). You should be able to find it easily with a quick search. All you need is the modem file. Flash it using ODIN. DO NOT repartition or include a PIT file.
I can't seem to find the specific file through searching, would you be able to direct me to it?
Thank you very much!
Just look in the gt-9000m running jpy in the general sevtion and search in the thread thats how i found it

Thanks guys, the phone is working again. I can't believe how much smoother it works with a custom ROM.
Hello,
The short story is that I have a Samsung Galaxy S. I wanted to install some new firmware ( and because Kies bricked my phone a few months ago ) with Odin.
There was a guide somewhere where they did a full factory reset with
*2767*3855#
After I entered the code I could not connect to the network anymore. And cannot make any phone calls or receive them.
I am in Romania, using Vodafone.
I also tried
*#272*[my IMEI]# and selected CNX and after it reboots it asks me if I'm using Prepay or Postpay. I chose Postpay and still nothing.
If I search for networks it finds all of them but I still cannot connect to any.
I entered *#0011# and this is what I get
UMTS : Limited
RRC State : IDLE
WCDMA 2100 Band 1
Reg PLMN 226-1, IsPCS? 0
FREQ DL : 10836
FREQ UL : 9886
CELL_ID : 0xc82811b
LAC : 0x7d16
PSC : 44
RSCP : -96, ECIO : -8

Tell me what I can try right now, or what information you need more from me.
Usually this means that there is something wrong with your APN settings, like they were erased.
Check out your APN settings and make sure they match what your carrier needs. If they aren't right or missing then you will indeed have network issues...

ccrows : the APN settings seem to be fine. As far as I know the APN are for data networking ( internet ) and before if I had no APN set I could still call people.
Reset your apn settings!

Your APN has nothing to do about whether you can call or not, it controls your data. You could have an empty APN and still make calls.
I really think something in your APN is messed up, but its kinda hard to tell without seeing the phone. Your symptoms do point to the APN.
The only other thing it could be is a bad modem flash. If you are sure that your APN is fine try flashing a different compatible modem in Odin again...

I deleted all the APNs and I know that the network worked fine like this.
I will try flashing with a firmware that I know worked before and see what happens.
The wierd thing is that the problem appeared after I entered the factory reset code, not after flashing it.

Hopefully the flash will work since it should take care of the modem issue that I was talking about in my previous post.
Best of luck...

I've tried flashing it with a few firmwares and nothing works, the error is the same.
Do you know what could have been affected by the full factory reset ?
Do you want some more info that could help you identify the problem ?
I went to a mobile service and they said they don't know what to do to it.
They tried to unlock the network and this is not the problem.
hey guys.
this is my first post so please forgive me if this is the wrong place or is listed somewhere where i could not find.
so my problem is i updated my gt-i9000 to 4.03 using this guide.
cyanogenmod 9-cm9-by-teamhacksung-for-galaxy-s-i9000-ics-android-4-0-3
the problem i have is that i now don't have any mobile data.
i lived with it for a while but now it is really frustrating.
i did not save the data settings so is there anything i can do?
can i reset to stock firmware then update again with saving the data settings?
of is there a simple way to remedy this?
any suggestions really appreciated.
elf.
Go to setting and reset access point name

Just create a new apn and enter the settings for the apn of your service provider

I would suggest the same as the previous post: create a new APN and enter the settings manually. It should normally work.
Hi All,
Need some help - I've been working more on CDMA phones b/c of sprint, and just flashed my friends captivate (att), but after the flash, have no data or cell service. (I flashed cwm recovery with odin, and then was able to get miui 2.8.3 onto the phone.)
Not sure how to get the cell signal to work, or what needs to be done to get things back to good ...
I see things about flashing back to stock, and then restarting - and i'm lost with the modem files, nothing of them are working so far, but I feel good about it....

Apn settings need to be reset to default... Go to Settings/ Wireless and network/ Mobile networks/ Access Point Names then hit capacitve menu button then "Reset to default".
And if that doesn't work, u probably need to flash an appropriate modem.

Also you can try entering the APN yourself. Just Google the name of your network, and apn. You should find the info you need to create a new apn.

I went to stock GB from an ICS ROM, and then to Helly Bean. Everything seems to work fine except any kind of networking. I cannot connect to 3G or AT&T's stuff (text messages, calls, etc.). I can connect to my wifi network and use it. In the Settings on my phone, Baseband Version and IMEI are unknown. The only thing in my efs folder in Lost and Found. I have no backups, as I wasn't aware that this problem existed.
Not sure what to do. Right now I'm leaving the SIM card and battery out for a few minutes, and then putting them back in to see if that helps. I'll probably flash a modem as well. Any suggestions? Any known fixes?
edit: Tried the battery removal and modem flashing, neither worked. Now going back to stock.
Edit2: going back to stock did nothing. I tried another SIM card, and that one also does not work.
I went back to stock GB again (third time now) and it's now recognizing my IMEI, but I still can't text or call.
Check your APN. And don't forget to backup that efs folder...just in case.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I777 using xda premium
It's not letting me look at the APN settings because it still doesn't detect a SIM card, only my IMEI.
Anything under Baseband ?? If not try flashin a modem through Odin.

Okay, I was definitely having a legitimate problem earlier, before I flashed to stock. At some point in this repair process, my SIM card ended up in my phone upside-down.... woops.
Thanks for trying to help me 4-2ndtwin.
Ooops...sh** happens lol.
Glad u got it fixed !

This thread most likely has to answer.
Check your APNs to make sure they match your carrier's.
Check your IMEI to make sure it matches the one with your phone. If it's not the case, you'll need to go back to stock KK4, backup your efs folder with a app that has root rights (like ES File Explorer) and restart the falshing process.
A good backup would be suggested before going to stock!
same problem baseband is unknown and imei is null. help
