HI! I have a bricked ace without clockwork loaded into it. I have odin v 3.07 and 4.38 but they get stuck telling me setup connection... then write error.I have searched everywhere on this forum to find a solution but havent found anything.Ive read the tutorial on how to flash it and did everything it tells there. So i put the md5 file in pd or phone box on 2 different versions of odin and i put the ops file then in 4.38 i press start with protect ops, auto reboot, reset time checked and in v 3.07 i check auto reboot and reset time (ive tried just auto reboot), put the md5 file in the pda box press start-nothing happens , same setup connection, write error.I have tried all the usb ports and a lot of different roms on sammobile. I have also tried to put clockwork in one package to try get the custom rom loaded from there since i have recovery mode wich tells me unable to mount system and error 7.Can someone tell me what i am doing wrong??????Can i unbrick this thing?I wanted to install nightcrawler with srs wow but now i got no music and no phone...Thanks.

Most of the time this problem occurs because of not installing usb drivers to ur PC..
try installing drivers again if u did before.. put ur phn in download mode.. letodin detect it ( yellow light will glow in odin)
then flash..
if u hv done all these and not succeeded,, then take a road to samsung care
tell them.. "it doesn't started again while uptating via kies!" :good:

Hi all
I stupidly upgraded to 2.2.1 the other night and for the last 2 days I have been trying to connect to the phone via Odin so I can apply the 2e Recovery and put Darky 8.0 on.
The problem I am having is that every time I try to apply the PDA file (from xda-devs), it just gets stuck on SetupConnection (I have booted the phone into Recovery mode). I have tried it on my Win7 x64 PC and I have tried it on my WinXP x86 laptop, same result. I have tried Odin 1.0, 1.3 and 1.7. I have uninstalled the Kies drivers, installed older ones, installed newer ones...nothing. I have tried removing the SD card, nothing.
Odin sees the phone when I plug it in, it show me the COM port and it says "Added!".
I'm at my wits end! 2.2.1 has fixed nothing for what I use, GPS is still rubbish, OneClickLagFix doesn't work on this version and they've put in this ridiculous 3e Recovery. So basically Samsung will not only not give us (in the UK) a decent version of their ridiculous firmware, but they have taken away our ability to fix up their garbage firmwares!
If anyone could help me get around this Odin problem, I would be most grateful! Thanks
If not, I'm going to get shut of this pile of pants and get a proper Android phone (which I don't want, because I really can see the potential)
Cheers!
You could try Heimdall instead of Odin its on the forum .
Odin sees the phone when I plug it in, it show me the COM port and it says "Added!"
Sounds like a duff file maybe .
I have flashed CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPY-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1
at least twenty times in the last month without a problem .

Hi
I have Heimdall, but I don't see which box to put the tar file in... There are several options under PDA/Code
Thanks for your reply
Edit: OK so my best guess is to put it under zImage. Done that, connected phone in Recovery for BML and the Start button stays greyed out.
Edit2: Do I need a .pit file? The instructions for CF-Root-XX_XEU_JPY-v1.3-BusyBox-1.17.1 don't mention one...
Edit3: Still with Heimdall, I unzipped the .tar so I have zImage unpacked, the Start button lit up, I click it:"Failed to detect a compatible device"
Edit4: Tried to downgrade to 2.1 Eclair using samfirmwares. Odin goes through md5 checks, they all pass and then....SetupConnection... What's going on?
Solved!
I used the Down Volume instead of Up Volume.
Yes! I solved too with this board. Thanks!
I've flashed my phone plenty of times, but this time I accidentally installed something that screwed it up bad. My phone at first was either stuck on the at&t logo, or if plugged in would be frozen on the battery pre-loader. I needed to get it in download mode to try to re-flash it, but I couldn't even do that. After a million trys I finally bought a usb jig which helped me get into download mode, but now my computer does not recognize my phone as a device when I run ADB DEVICES under the android sdk.
I'm assuing since adb devices comes up with nothing under list of devices attached is why odin3 isn't working. When I try to run it all I get is various messages such as the following and my phone either gets stuck on the downloading screen, or I get a blue screen.
<ID:0/004> Added!!
<ID:0/004> Odin v.3 engine (ID:4)..
<ID:0/004> File analysis..
<ID:0/004> Set PIT file..
<ID:0/004> DO NOT TURN OFF TARGET!!
<ID:0/004> Get PIT for mapping..
Any help would be appreciated!

.
Thanks. Yes I did read that thread and that's what helped me get ODIN to see my phone, but where I'm confused is ODIN is showing 0:[COM4], but when I run ADB DEVICES in CMD PROMPT it doesn't list my IMEI number for a device being shown. Also, ODIN constantly gets stuck on different steps and either my screen will turn either all green, blue, purple, etc, or my screen just turns black. I'm closer than I was the other day since I bought the USB jig, but I am stuck at a point now where I can't tell if there is hope or not!

The "adb devices" command won't show ur device if u r in Download Mode. And if Odin is seeing ur phone (com port lit up), then it still sounds like u need to reboot ur computer, right click and run Odin as administrator, connect the usb end or ur cable to the a usb port on the back of the desktop computer or 1st usb port on laptop, then connect micro usb end to ur phone. If that doesn't work try a differnent port. If that doesn't work try a different cable (sometimes the one u think is good because u just used it the other day...will be bad). And in ur situation right now, I would not be flashing something with Bootloaders in it.
Thanks. Didn't know that about adb devices. I've tried various ports and installing and uninstalling drivers, but anytime Odin starts to work it freezes. I had just went from serpendity to cm7 and then I accidentally loaded an old flash from February so I don't know what was on the phone when it bricked. What tools exactly should I be using and get it from there?

Which Odin and Firmware are u trying to use. And do you have the .pit file, because since u went to CM7, u will need to include the .pit file and Repartition.
Here is the .pit file below. Take it out of the .zip and select PIT in Odin and navigate to where u put it on ur PC and select it. Then the repartition box should be automatically checked. Include this .pit file with ur other Stock firmware u r trying to flash (gingerbread i presume. This is a .pit that came with the kf1 i897 gb firmware).
Which Serendipity were u running. That will let u know what Bootloaders u have, either Gingerbread or not.

I was literally in the same boat the past few days. The only thing that saw and properly flashed was this. (search it)
"SGH-i897-UCKH3-One-Click"
I had serpendity 6.4 on it and the android version was 2.2 and the cm7 was 2.3.7. I think I'm using odin 1.81 I believe; I honestly don't know which one I should be using and thanks for the .pit file! But as far as stock rom or whatever it may be where do I get that? I just don't know what the correct files I need with which Odin so it works right!
Since u were on froyo, check out the link in my sig to the i897uckb1.
I am out away from my laptop right now, but in that thread should be everything u need, but u need a froyo .pit file not the one i had attached. There may be one attached in that kb1 thread. U definately need to repartition when u flash though. And that should get u straightened out.

I've had a similar problem, though never needed a jig. For me, it was definitely the USB port I was using. I was able to get it on maybe the fourth attempt on the bad port.
Try using the drivers and one click from this thread to take you back to stock http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=731989
I'd also suggest using a different machine. The rear Ports on a desktop are best. I read why one time but don't ask me to remember it right now.
Ok it now was successful with using ODIN, but after the restart it goes to the Android system recovery screen and says:
update media, please wait
E: Can't mount /dev/block/stl10
(Invalid argument)
E:copy_dbdata_media:Can't mount DBDATA:
your storage not prepared yet, please use UI menu for format and reboot actions.
copy default media content failed.
What firmware did u flash and did u repartition ??
Well I got past that, but there appears to be no rom or anything installed because there is nothing on my SD card and I'm stuck on the clockworkMod Recovery screen. Anyway to get my update.zip file to the sdcard somehow?
Now it's on the CWM-based Recovery screen (cyanogenmod) and I don't know what to do now to actually get to the phone. I don't know what I am missing or where to get it.
Answer my previous post and maybe I can help. And in what direction are u wanting to go as far as flashing firmware is concerned ?
Used I897UCKB1-homeBinary.tar and yes I repartitioned.
I wanted to try to use what I started using before I bricked my phone. I wanted to use cyanogenmod 7.1 that had gingerbread 2.3.7 on it. Right now it boots up showing the cyanogenmod logo but never goes past the cwm-based recovery v5.0.2.6 screen.
Just select to install the CM7 again through the CWM Recovery. You may have to format system, wipe data/factory reset in cwm first. Then after it installs and goes back into cwm recovery, just select reboot.
You mean just run the update.zip file again? If that's what you meant I did that and wiped/formatted like you said, but it still just boots back into cwm. Obviously I am doing something wrong.
Reinstall cyanogenmod 7.1 and after it installs it may boot back into recovery. If it does just select the reboot system now.

That diagram you had is the same thing as the download mode. So treat it as such and flash your rom and kernel normally and it should work. I had the same problem before. To be sure, tried the following thread. Go to the 3rd post in this thread and follow the installation instruction. It will work. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382055
I get that every now and then too. I reinstall the drivers (included with Kies), and reboot the computer. After that it will work.

Does ODIN still recognize your Tab? If you are upgrading from froyo to gingerbread, you may need to load new PIT file as well as new dbdata.rfs.
If ODIN still recognize your Tab, try to download your choice of firmware again with PIT file included. I'll attach a working PIT for you.
Note: Please extract the attached file to get the .PIT file and put it on PIT field on ODIN along with your choice of firmware you are flashing.
Once you are done and reboot, mostlikely you'll be in a boot-loop stuck at SAMSUNG screen. Now reboot to download mode again, then flash the DBDATA.rfs.tar I attached on the following post in PDA field on ODIN:

i dont have the icon
wakak make sure you got the proper Samsung driver installed!

I have this problem before and i managed to use ODIN3 v1.83 (can use Odin3 v3.07) to detect my phone and flash a stock rom onto the device. I followed the advice given on this excellent thread by Supermini.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1071970
As mentioned on his thread make sure you have the latest stock firmware from the sammobile site or by using Check Fus Downloader as per the guide in Rafael thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1551156, a working samsung USB driver to detect your mobile on your PC and a copy of ODIN3 v1.83 (or v1.84, v1.87, v3.07 run ODIN in administrator mode if using in windows). Ultimately if this this fails you could always try a USB jig which can be purchased from ebay, etc. to get the phone into download mode.
Good luck and if this helps make sure you send a thank you to Supermini.

So . . . last thing to rescue your phone is buy on e-bay or in other place JIG if it isn't help you then try in phone service and say you tried install new ROM with Kies and your phone is brick (maybe it'll work).
Say to Service Centre Representatives that you kept your at charging last night
And when you woke up
It was not booting up
Pretend as if you dunno anything about root or ROM
They fixed my bricked phone
I am not sure if I am breaking any forum rule by telling this
Hey bro sorry for the late reply also, please before you do anything else try following my instructions.
1) download Odin v3.07
2) source the stock firmware you want to flash from sammobile.
3) make sure you have the Samsung mobile driver.
4) open and run Odin as administrator and load the single file in the PDA and highlight the tick box.
5) shut the phone down and take out your Sim card.
6) put the mobile into download mode as normal (press both up/down vol keys +power)
7) connect the phone to the PC and check in Odin to make sure its com port is detected.
8) then flash through Odin as normal.
I understand what your saying about no download screen appearing, I have found through experience that custom kernels can cause no download screen to appear. Normally with stock kernel this is not a problem but with custom kernels sometimes all you get is a black screen. Ignore this and just make sure that Odin is detecting the phone and try to flash, chances are it will flash the stock ROM and kernel. If you get the setup connection error in Odin and the fail 0\1 just try another USB port on your PC and keep persevering.
Please keep us updated so we can help you if you need it.

Why will it be hardbricked if the custom roms are based on s5830i stock roms?
But it is probable that we did I not flash the rom properly as per procedure..so is there a chance that it be bricked? Else the rom may have some problem... just telling the probability

I have recently encountered a random shutdown in my Galaxy A5 (A510y) after installing a custom rom (https://forum.xda-developers.com/sa...rience-os-v1-0-updated-02-09-2017-t3666774).I have Used this ROM for about 2 days till the random shutdown, After that i wasn't able to turn my device on also had no access to recovery mode every thing was removed .... OS .. BOOT.. Samsung logo also not showing when i held the power button, And when i plug my usb cable in the phone there is no sign of the battery image.. So i thought to myself my phone is FK*d but i thought about entering download mode which seemed to work .. I continued with the process of installing a new firmware with odin everything passed , but still no OS or Boot Or recovery installed
Can someone please help me as i have no ideas and will take no further step in trying to fix it myself as i will just make things even worst

Did you, while flashing, thick "re-partition"? If you are, that is reason.
On your place, I will change computer and USB cable and try again.
If nothing helps, then find PIT files for your phone model and flash it with PIT file (re-partition) and stock firmware.
At first I unticked re-partition and ticked Auto reboot and f.reset time , I then flashed the firmware which had no luck, Secondly I flashed with re-partiion Ticked with no luck aswell ! I also unticked all except for Nand erase Still no luck , I flashed my model PIT file with the original firmware same thing NO luck ... So maybe it's an hardware problem , I have attempted to do this on another computer and still no luck with re-partition unticked.
Hmmm... U already try all available options...
Maybe try with older version of Odin, go on SamFirmware site find your model and look at version of Odin...
Otherwise, u make brick
