Reinstall Gallery?

Hey guys, I've tried searching around with no luck. I was working a little too fast uninstalling At&t bloatware and accidentally removed the Picture Gallery. I cannot seem to find a way to reinstall it. I've enabled non-market apps and have tried installing a few apk's from the forums but it always results in "application was not installed". Can someone please help me out?

You can't just reinstall a system app like you would a non market app. You have to take the gallery.apk and use root explorer to place it in the appropriate location, which would be system/app.

Thanks. I had actually tried that too with the same results. Perhaps I didn't have the correct apk. Anyone have a specific version for the captivate?

You're still running stock? If so, you're gonna need to copy and paste both of these files into System/App through root explorer.
The apk is the actual Gallery. You have to unzip the other folder first!!!! Then move that file in with the apk.

That worked thanks! Yea I'm running stock. I've tried may ROMs but all the little bugs really bother me. Stock runs prefect and quite honesty, performance increase isn't very significant. Plus, I've customized it quite well to have most of the same features of 2.2+.

heyy im having the same problem but i have a droid x. i know i need the .odex file. but my gallery is just gallery.apk not the 3D gallery? can anyone help me getting the .odex file and how to install it again? i believe i have the right gallery app. i just need the odex file to go with it and instruction if it different from the ones above.

might want to go to the Droid x forums

The Gallery 3D is actually in the market.
It's called "Gallery 3D" by Rayman50.

i tried. people have the same problem but they still have the odex. i dont think it will function without it. at least i've tried n still no good. i'm waiting for a response hopefully they upload yet. but so far no one has. so i'm trying to find a solution wherever i can.

Doesn't it just use the Android Gallery?

you have to delete the other one from /system/app and then from adb
adb push xxxx.apk /system/app
or to copy paste it with root explorer ..

this gallery works perfect with the smartshare !

Just search Gallery 3D on the market, it will then tell you that it's installed.

it is 2 different gallery its not tha same !
my rom modako f13 fear edition v1.6 havent the stock gallery and the smart share doesnt work .
so i find the stock gallery and post it here.

Tried to install your apk file and it doesnt install.
Any ideas?

But yea I would like this now as I can see the standard Android gallery in Fear is slow and horibble.

you have to push it from adb or copy paste with root explorer.
i know that it doesnt install ..

Yeah LG uses a custom Gallery 3D with all the tap-the-side-of-the-phone gestures, Smartshare DLNA etc.etc.

Yeah I am going to go back to a more stock like ROM as this is driving me crazy

Does this gallery also has the problem when using pinch to zoom? When i try to zoom it doesn't zoom in at the right area, this guy had the same problem and made a video of it: youtube.com/watch?v=CP6sU0TJXdE

you can't

camera force closes will occur if you replace.. try by apk extracting replace .png then pack the apk

Camera Quick Launch

Hi all,
The camera quick launch from standby mode doesn't work when I migrated into cm10.1
Searching around the thread, it seems like I can make it work by modifying some .kl files in system/usr/keylayout
I tried editing each and every .kl files but to no luck, the quick launch for camera still does not work.
Can any stock ROM user with root post me their .kl files found in system/usr/keylayout for my reference?

Can't make my camera launch from standby mode.
Any advise anyone?

Need some help in obtaining the android.policy.jar from STOCK Sony ROM.
Need it to compare the smali code and do the camera quick launch feature in cm10.1.
