I'm a graphic artist, so I do a whole lot of drawing and drafting. The Wacom digitizer is actually one of the main reasons I'm getting a Note 2 actually haha.
I've never used a screen protector on any of my phones, but I'd like the GN2 to be the first. The only concern I'm having is that the screen protector will interfere with the stylus' levels of pressure sensitivity while drawing and writing.
Does anyone know if this is the case?

Just installed JLG as well and pen sensitivity is still as good as the stock glass.

Just for giggles, I just tried the stylus through one of the clear cd spacers you get with a spendle of disks. Works just fine though it. I'm pretty sure as long as it's not thicker than the hover distance, a screen protector isn't going to affect the stylus.
Thanks to everyone in this thread, I had the exact same question/scenario, but couldn't find a specific enough answer.
I think the pressure sensitivity etc is all done on the s-pen end of things. If you hover the pen over the screen so the little air view circle comes up you can click the nub on the end of the pen in and it registers as a touch, and testing in s-note, line thickness varies with how hard you press the nub in. Judging by this as long as the screen protector isn't spongy or soft it should be fine.

It won't cause problems so long as they are not too thick as to activate hover function.
(A basic overview of how it works)
The S-pen is an active digitizer. The screen actually emits a signal... the stylus has a mechanism in it that resonates with the signal. It is passive so no batteries are required in the stylus. If you notice the tip of the stylus can actually move in and out a little, this is what does the pressure sensitivity. Touching the screen causes the tip to compress a little and it actually alters how the stylus resonates the signal from the screen. More pressure means more change and the digitizer reads it.
This is also why some styluses can have a drawing and erase end. The erase end resonates differently and the digitizer can differentiate between them.

so I was installing a new screen protector yesterday, I was pressing down the bubbles with my fingers, over a microfiber cloth of course, and applying pressure to single points on the screen with the tips of my fingers to get the individual bubbles out. I now at the time I was using alot more pressure than what I I shoud have
I didnt realise how hard i was pressing down and then I stopped
the screen was not tarnished at all, bo bruises or spotting on the particular areas I put massive amounts of pressure on
now I can guarantee you that if this was an lcd thier would be some sort of bruising on the screen, lots of it actually. my main concern is that I may have used to much strenght ( im a big strong dude haha) is their any chance I could have messed something up
I know lcd and amoled are differnt technologies so can someone explain to me how its built, why thier is no brusins and wether I should be worried about this, I would just like to understand the tech because im pretty suprised that nothing happened to the screen
but maybe something I cant see or that may arrive later, I do understand their is glass. Does it have any give etc?

Like, word for word that's what I did putting on my protector, and was amazed just as you were at how damn strong that screen is. Amazing ****.
Gorilla Glass is some strong stuff. Next time though, try using a credit card or a really thick business card.
Use the edge of the card to push the protector down. Do this in a forward sliding motion until the protector is completely applied. Doing this will make it a lot easier to get the bubbles out.
Also, I typically use rubbing alcohol to clean the screen. Afterwards, I use some Scotch tape and tap it across the screen. This will make sure you have cleaned off any remaining lint and dust.

It's very well made and has a good heft to it, feels like quality. I've only been able to test it on my TP as N7 still on the slow boat from Timbuktoo, the TP is not as sensitive as the N7 and pressure sensitive apps don't seem to work on it so more on that when the N7 arrives. That said the stylus is very responsive and the tip does not 'stick' to the screen although I suppose it depends what (if any) screen protector you have and how tacky it is so ymmv.
The pen end is not a gimmick, it takes Parker refills so that's a big plus point, the lid clips on firmly and the pocket clip is very strong but there's nowhere to store the cap when you are using the pen as it won't fit over the stylus tip, that's a minor problem though..
I have only one big gripe but which could be a problem if you intend to use it for long periods, when using the stylus end the balance point is too far back for my liking and the stylus wants to tip back all the time, given it's weight this is noticeable quite quickly. The balance point is a tiny bit forward of the line of the cap joint which is about the two thirds mark. You can ease the problem by taking the cap off the end but that exposes the pen nib with all the dangers of drawing on your hand/clothes as well as the screen.
As I said above, it's a well made piece if kit and well worth the money, I've used a few styluses from checp nasty ones to better quality, this one is by far the best I've used yet even given the balance issue.
I got this as well and am very happy with it! This is my first tablet, so maybe I don't know what a real good stylus is, but it feels really natural to use and I actually prefer it over using my fingers. Plus less smudging and the pen is handy as well
Got my N7 this morning and have had time to play with it, compared to the TP the screen responsiveness is in another league altogether.
The stylus is smooth running across the (as yet) unprotected screen and pressure sensitivity works very well, the Kensington gets a couple more stars from me
Update, Three weeks later and while the stylus is still as good to use, the pen cap is getting loose (rubber O ring a bit thin) which means it can come apart when hung from the clip. Drops a star for that.

My guess....he's using Quill or a similar app which has a tool that somehow manages to mimic pressure sensitivity.

I spoke of pressure sensitive Apps, not the N7 screen. I can't speak for all Apps but Markers is one that responds well to the stylus. I think it may be sensing tip coverage but it goes much further than just the area touched by the stylus (or your finger) try it and you'll see what I mean.
Final thought on this stylus, I've given up on it!
The tip went soft and started dragging on the screen and I got to dislike the feel of the stylus so much (especially the surface roughness) that I had to force myself to use it, so it's consigned to the drawer. I can use the pen refill elsewhere.
Moved on now to an Applydea Maglus, opinions pending

I got the silver elago stylus for 10 bucks, made of aluminum, removable soft tip, nice length, width, weight, and it includes an additional soft tip

I've had to ditch this stylus too - after about a month of smooth note taking using Quill the stylus has started to skip when writing, i've no idea why as it still looks solid enough and the screen is fine. But it keeps dropping out and makes it impossible to use now as a stylus...
Just recieved a Smith & Wesson tactical stylus and its fantastic on the N7 so far - works really well with the pressure effects in Quill too!

Mine has become totally unusable now, the tip seems sticky and will not run across the screen smoothly.
Hi initial photo review of this case. Will write a full review later tonight.
In a nutshell it is well made and light. Fits very well in trouser pocket. Does not feel bulky.

Tried one out and found that I had to take the back cover off to fit the phone snugly.
Since the cover doesn't have an NFC chip, you will lose that functionality. The case doesn't fit on the phone with the back cover on unless the one I saw was a duplicate. Moreover the magnetic closure is flimsy too.
Just my 2 cents.

The NFC antenna is embedded in the Note 2's back cover.
For the record. The handset clicked into case. Nothing had to be removed. Grips it fine. Must be a different case if you have to remove covers.
So far only really annoying thing is using it one handed. The folding cover is in the way of fingers.
There is a similar case that has a rotating cover. That would resolve this issue. Also enables a portrait stand.
Also as suspected. The home button is being pressed by the cover due to no recess (think thats the correct word) in the cover. This is activating the voice assistant. Disabled it as it is rubbish. But will mod cover at later date.

Another little update, these stand cases are really good for watching iplayer etc. But I think I am going to buy a leather sleeve/pouch type case. Ive always used them with htc handsets, due to most usage is one handed. And save the stand case for movie time.

I bought the Original Samsung Note 2 flip case instead. Although it was expensive £30 .... but I think it looks really nice and still have NFC function.

The biggest flaw with the original Note 2 flip case is that the corners/edges are completely unprotected. If you drop the Note 2 and it lands on the corner it might shatter the whole screen.

I bought this case yesterday in a shop and was massively disappointed. If you fold the cover behind the phone to use it the phone is hard to handle and doesn't sit ergonomically in your hand.
BUT BIGGEST FLAW: The little magnet on the right side interferes with the wacom digitizer. Try pulling out the S Pen and draw a straight line along the right edge, and the line curves outward around the magnet.
I was about to return the phone when I realized the error was next to the magnet. Pulled it out of the case and problem gone. I could reproduce this problem anywhere on the screen by holding the magnet part next to it.
There are tons of reports if you google "wacom magnet s pen" about interference, so I would avoid using this case. There is apparently even a note about this in the manual somewhere.

This happens because wacom digitizers use magnets to work (partially, there's more to it) - the pen is a magnet. Crash course: A magnet creates a magnetic field around it. Whenever you're moving the pen, you're moving this field - any given point in space near the magnet experiences a change in this magnetic field (this creates an electric potential and a potential difference between points affected by the field). A really cool thing about moving magnets near wires is we create what's called an induced EMF - the change in magnetic fields causes electrons to move because of changes in relative potential difference between nearby points.
A static magnet (in relation to a point) will have a static field, but a field none the less - the magnet on the casing. When you bring two magnetic fields together, they interact to form a resultant field at any point in time.
The pen is still working as intended, but the other magnet has changed the potential you produce near that magnet via movements of the pen - thus, different and incorrect readings. It's relative to the position of the case magnet, so you get a different effect at different distances from the magnetic source.
The result is that the same motions of the pen near that magnet are causing different currents to be read than the wacom digitizer expects for that motion.
While it's great to hear through some empirical data that physics still works, I was already actively avoiding this case for this reason.
In contrast, previous smartphone cases with phones that use capacitive touch don't have as much an issue because it's basically a field of current that your touch (finger, capacitive stylus, etc) redirects some of that flow across. While a magnet could indeed affect this field, the magnet isn't moving so it's not as much an issue (it's still an issue because, depending on field strength, orientation, and relative locations, the electrons are still moving with respect to the magnet, and are repelled/attracted by the field in this manner to different degrees. However, the difference is constant and like is accounted for because digitizer system can't guarantee constant currents necessarily, so there is variation allowed for. With the Wacom pen magnet, it's weak enough to be noticeable.
TL;DR - Anyone with a course in EMF and an understanding of induction would be able to tell you this right off once they found out the pen uses a magnet. Incidentally, the magnet is also why you can do the hovering stuff so accurately. Other forms of non-touch gestures have many ways they could work too, but one way is your body affecting a field around the digitizer enough (whole hand swipe across without touching) that is is measurable.
It's also how inductive chargers (ones where you don't plug in the device) work. Changes in current flowing through wires creates a magnetic filed which, by orientating the wires, using loop/solenoid type configurations, this field changes (an AC signal). When your device is in the field, a similar configuration in the device is subjected to this changing field, and, more simply put, energy is exchanged via magnetic fields.
This is really cool because you've taken a changing current, which creates an electromagnetic field across other wires, which causes a flow of current.
Anyways, yeah avoid having magnets near devices depending upon EMF induction to work
In response. Regarding the case and holding it. I agree, does my head in sometimes. Hence why i may get a sleeve instead for when at work and use it one handedly most of the time. Regarding nfc, i aint convinced it would be affected until i get to test it. Regarding magnet, never noticed it until tested. Only effects 5mm of right side of screen and 15mm vertically, not the end of the world.
Just tested a piece of tin foil placed between handset and case at the point of the magnet. Didn't make any difference. Shame it cant be shielded.
Gotta say. The mobli is very well protected and the white case and mobile has yet to look dirty. Day job, hands get mucky.
Anyone got the case that the stand rotates? Does it make holding it less annoying?

So, can the magnet cause any permanent damage to the gyroscope, compass and wacom bundle? I did notice that the compass is off by 10 degrees with the case on versus off.
I've used the phone for a few days without the case and it gets greasy too fast. So its back into the case again. It is pretty sturdy, just wonder if its possible to extract the magnet somehow! Maybe lodge a knife in there or something.
Anything that works by sensing the Earth's magnetic field, such as a compass, will be screwed up by a magnet in a case. It's really not worth buying a case that has a magnetic clasp...
I lodged a kitchen knife in between the magnet and the case and jerked around. It broke up into several pieces and came out attached to the knife. Since its either in my pocket or on a table the flap stays closed and no more magnetic issues.

On the SIII, the NFC -ANTENNA- is in the battery... The chip is on the phone motherboard. In the Note II, the antenna is in the back cover. Are you blind? Have you never taken your back cover off?

So I know how difficult it is to find a good screen protector for the Note 8 at the minute, I've tried a few and sent them all back so far.
I ordered the MiiKare glass screen protector, and am pretty happy with it so I thought I'd share it.
I know it won't be the best, but it's the first one I've found that I'll be keeping on my device.
-Price, £8.99
-Packaging, cheap and chinese
-Fitting, easy;
(I did not use the fitting kit device thing, it was awful)
-Fit, good, allows for a case, could be individual cutouts as opposed to one big cut out.
-Visabilaty, 100% clear, very slight "rainbowing"
-Touch Sensitivity, minimal reduction
-S Pen compatability, very good, seemingly unaffected
It also came with a "leather effect" skin for the back, bit fiddly to apply but fine with a bit of patience, it looks OK, prevents scratches on the back when out of case so I'll keep it on, nothing special.

I completely agree with all the points above. Have used the Miikare tgsp since my handset was released from it's box and no issues so far at all. Would have preferred it to be completely clear as opposed to having black bars top and bottom, but otherwise great for the price ?

I use s pen probably 90% of the time im using the phone and can honestly say I have no issue on any part of the screen, barely have to touch it and it works perfectly. I did ever so slightly misalign the protector on install though and when using my finger at the top and top corners I do find I sometimes have to press a bit firmer but nothing I'd say was frustrating as it's not that often an issue for me (probably just compounded by the fact my finger or thumb is already reaching for that part of the screen and pressing lighter than I do lower on the screen). Overall I'm very happy and bought a spare as backup (I'll probably try a fresh install at some point but as there's no issue with the s pen, I'm in no rush).

It says be careful of scraping nails on screen and I've noticed that it actually happens often that I scrape a touch of my nail harder than I should.
This seems like a very poor idea. It would affect image quality and might even affect touch sensitivity. I imagine it would just end up pulling up the factory screen protector anyway.

You should install not 1 but 10 or 20 more soft screen protectors in top of the one already applied!
What you need to do is remove the one already applied and enjoy the best quality of your 2k smartphone, if something happens before Dec 2021, pay the 150 and get a new inner display installed by Samsung! Enjoy at least a full year of your phone!
Ive owned both the Fold1 and now the Fold2 and being using them as dsily driver banging the phone around with tools and boxes while i do mechanic jobs! These phones are tank! My wife has long finger nails and never had a single scratch! Lets be honest, who tap their phone with a finger nail? Come on!

Granted screen protectors are made to flex, the more you stack on top of each other, the less they'll flex. It'll cause it to stiffen and put pressure on the display. Doesn't seem like a good idea lol.

Yeap... that fold line is trouble.
It's also possible the plastic and/or adhesive could be reactive with factory one turning it into a gooey mess over time.
I'm actually thinking of doing this too. I prefer matte screen protectors to the shiny, fingerprint magnet that came with it. Maybe we could have the existing protector replaced with something else at the Samsung store or something.
