I recently upgraded to 195 sacraficing root as I didnt see a need for it really and love the Sony full stock experienced however I have now found I lost the emoji mod I had installed on it. I feel slightly extreme going through the root process for a locked bootloader for this small mod and was wondering if there was a way to get this on my device. The little boxes I get on Twitter and instagram along with the texts from my girlfriends iPhone are a bit annoying now I was used to seeng them translated. It is not a big issue I was just wondering if the is something to the me over to the jelly bean update in February.
Thanks

You don't need Jelly bean or rooted phone to write with emoij on your new device, just download free MulitLanguage keyboard from play Market and start typing. But to enable "viewing" on Twitter or Instagram of the small cute black and white things (aka emoij), then you need rooted phone (I can give you link for emoij codex on ICS) or wait for Jelly Bean firmware update later this year or early next year, -Im sorry!

Has there been any indication if T-Mobile will update their original Note to JB 4.1? With AT&T's leaked JB 4.1 update , I'm curious if anyone has heard one way or another where T-Mobile might be with this.

Yeah that is a good question. Along with the Note I'm curious if they're going to also drop the JB update for the SGS2.
I hope they do update the Note soon though. I just updated my SGS3 and I really like Google Now.
I hope they do. I loved it on my gs3! I didnt wanna root but might have too. Is there a note 2 rom available?

Along with the benefits of the upgrade to 4.1 Jellybean , the original Galaxy Note is getting the Premium Suite upgrade. No word on if/when T-Mobile may pass this along officially.
I've seen the Samsung page about this, and listened carefully at TMoNews.com. Anyone heard or seen anything new about this?
Unless you're really hung up on the premium suite, I don't see any reason not to go to CM10. I'm using a nightly and 4.2.2 is very stable and fast. I can't believe how smooth the screen transitions are, generally a faster phone overall and you're not stuck with all the other bloatware. I do miss wifi calling, but my coverage has somewhat improved where I live. I also have Google Now, which I'm still playing with. I too got sick of waiting for the 4.1.2 update. So if we could get the premium suite and TMO wifi calling ported over to our CM10 distro, it would be perfect IMHO.
I agree that CM10 is a great stable fast rom, but it would be nice for Samsung and T-Mobile to give a little support to our phones. I personally would like to see the Suite make it's way down to us, even as a flash alone package from a dev. But considering the lack of devs for our devices, I won't hold my breath.

I have given up on waiting. Galaxy Note users on Tmobile is so low that I have a feeling they couldn't careless for us anymore if we get the JellyBean update or not. I am here in XDA right now looking for the best custom ROM for the original Galaxy Note. My GNote's stock firmware is already giving me the Windows98-bloated-and-slow effect.
So far I'm leaning more on the Padawan ROM, although not officially for Tmobile, I'll take chance because of the support for the S-Pen. Besides I'm reading on some post that it works.
[UPDATE]
No go on the Padawan. Too much hassle. I need my phone to work, right away. Instead of debugging it, I just installed AvatarROM. I need Wifi Calling though. Please help.

Just asking which feature do you really need in 4.2? 4.1 seems good enough.
Quick Panel? Group SMS? Photosphere? LockScreen Widgets? Google's Applications update that work only in 4.2? Daydream (not so useful, but heh)? Better handling of permissions?

May be u will get... But i heared a rumor that Qualcomm going to skip 4.2 update for their snapdragon chipset powerd devices and will directly to update 4.3 .. Dont know is it true or false ...
And for example Xperia S came with Android 2.3.7 and later it gets Android 4.0.4 and now Gets android 4.1.2... So hope we too... Like 4.1.2 To 4.2.2 To 4.3

Quick panel on JB is badly designed. Press to go to settings and long press to toggle. Seriously?
Never used group sms so can't comment. Photosphere is bad at stitching photos, so I prefer panorama.
Lockscreen widgets are kind of tricky to implement on the current lockscreen.
Which google apps require 4.2?
Daydream is a battery killer.
Permissions handling are pretty useless for end users, not to mention that most developers do not use these.
Since we have 4.1 we can be assured that we will have all jelly bean updates at least up to 4.3 from unofficial sources if not Sony.

This is off topic question. But I don't want to make new thread for such a little question. Does anybody have flashable zip for jb fw? Or if you can just give me META-INF folder of flashable zip. I want to make ROM for this phone as the development for this phone is little less.
It will be easy if someone contact me via PM.
Thanks.

If i remember correctly you can use the same one of a somewhat same device. Like the Xperia ZR, or the Z. The permissions of the update-script will be the same i presume.
It has been almost 9 months since I last developed anything for an Android Device, and more than a year since I created my base for the Active, but if im not mistaken, the kitchen will create those when you build the rom.

I just wanted to know if most people are giving up root to get the upgrade to 4.4 or if they're holding out to keep root. Yes I know the developer edition is different, but for most of us, it is a question worth asking. I will be staying on 4.2.2 as long as possible. I dont think kitkat is much of an improvement after getting the updated google apps and keyboard. Im sticking with nova launcher and my belover xposed modules. If you upgraded, do you regret upgrading?

I don't see any need to have Root on the Moto X.
Which, I'm surprised, fits me... and from what I've read, many others on here.
i'm thinking I would go crazy not having something to play with if I lost root. Haven't completely made up my mind but that's they way i'm leaning

I'm about where you are right now. I used to be a crack flasher, but prior to getting the Moto X, I had settled on a really nicely configured version of AOKP on my GNex. I said good bye to the device last week and upgraded to the X.
I haven't rooted my Moto X just yet, but I really would hate to give up the X specific features when going to another ROM. So, I'm waiting a few weeks before I do anything. Hopefully the bounty will work!
Got developer edition so I could root later if/when needed. But I had used one unrooted for about a month, and other than ad-blocking and tethering, I didn't miss root.
I am staying on 4.2.2 for now. I hate ads and the extremely ugly call interface. Xposed modules and full screen caller ID is what I like. Not willing to give them up just yet.

I am in the same dilemma. I have root and running Eclipses ROM and some exposed framwork. I want KK, but can't decide what to do. It might be a while for root and nitro had to sell his X. I just don't know what to do haha. Guess I'll hold off for a week or so and then get KK.
Staying on 4.2 indefinitely, even if 4.4 gets rooted. I have 4.4 on my N5 and I'm not a fan. My Moto X is perfect the way it is, why mess with it?

I need Xposed too. I'm giving root on the MotoX a chance for a few weeks. When Xposed Framework works on KitKat--then I'm going to make the choice and decide whether to sell my MotoX and get a Dev Edition or just upgrade to KitKat and get over the rooting stuff--which bothers me.

Who are the major exploiters? Jcase is one, Hashcode is another... other than that--I can't think of anyone. :|
I went ahead and factory reset the device and then updated to 4.4. I then installed the new Google launcher and some of the new Google apps, like the new Google Wallet. It works surprisingly well but the only thing I hate about it is that I can't hide apps. The new launcher doesn't support it but I like the design of it. I am just going to stay unrooted for now and root it when the exploit comes out.
I'll take KitKat when I can (T-Mobile). I'm currently not rooted. The only thing I really wish I could do on this phone that requires root is block the ads. But for me, the trade off to that is not being able to get work email on my phone (company uses Good for Enterprise, and has it check for root). Also, I'm Dev Edition so if I get super sick of the ads I can root later. (Trying to avoid unlocking the bootloader right away though.)
Decided to flash 4.4; this is my first Android phone and I didn't buy the developer edition to play it safe .
Overall I'm happy: both with the device and KitKat itself.
My only gripe so far is fairly minor (the lock-screen lag) -- in my case: clearing the dalvik cache helped a lot.
There's nothing in 4.4 that's begging me to stick with it; but so far I haven't had any show-stopping bugs, and I'm not going to flash 4.2 just to get MotoXposed working.
So for now I'm just poking around until an official T-Mo OTA comes out that I can flash.
Nope until 4.4 gets rooted and os is stable like current unlock problems and all. Cant image my phone without adblock, viper and xposed modules.I am more than happy with 4.2.2
Staying on 4.2 for now. Need tethering and greenify.

Dear all , i bought my lg flex with a jb everythin . Was awesome after i upgraded to kitkat im experiencing heat problems and battery drains issues before on jb in the end of the day i used to have 60 % now like 10% i need ur help in those 2 questions
1- should i downgrade to 4.2.2 and if i do that can i have the kitkat camera .apk cz its better
2- rooting will help that much and how to on 3.4.0 kernel
IM holding a D955 version
Thank you everyone in advance
This.
This is why I don't understand why everyone always wants software updates.
Even now, people are talking about wanting android l on their note 4
Guess what people, all updates bring is pain, and the wish to roll back, until next year when you buy a new phone, that was intended to be running the newer software... but even then, they want the update!
Then, the people who want updates are told to buy a nexus, because they are always first for updates. I bought the nexus 5 on day one, sure, I could run the Dev preview of android L if I wanted. .. but it's not complete, it's not the true version of Android L, and in all fairness, it's been almost a whole year now, and in all fairness, The only real appreciable update I will have had all year, is when I get android L on a nexus 6.
Even almighty apple can't do updates without having it break their older phones. Bottom line is, you want an update, you buy a new phone.
You are absolutely right with what you said .. i think the same way but before updating it they said it improves the battery life like 3 hrs ... it was a mistake anyway im on 4.2.2 again from the early morning till the moment im 47%...

Hi,
I don't know if this way is exist or not, but i'm gonna ask it anyway
Is there anyway to port/run Jelly Bean apps on Lollipop? There's a app that i really like and it runs perfect on Jelly Bean. Unfortunately, it's on S3 and doesn't work very well, and last month it got washed in the washing machine . My dad bought a new one for me, but it's A8, and it runs Lollipop 5.1.1. So i redownload the app and it doesn't work anymore. All it show up is just the logo and then stop working. So is there anyway to run it? And yes i do have root, xposed and recovery, but i'm not gonna degrade to Jelly Beans because A8 has Fingerprint, KNOX and i don't know if it works after degrade. Also, this phone has only been release for 5 months and discovered root access recently so i don't think there will be any JB ROM for this model yet.
So, if anyone can help me, i will be much obliged.[/QUOTE]
