your memory full and its kinda caused the problem. take battery out. wait 5 sec, insert and hold volume down key and then power on. hboot menu should appear. for a guaranteed restart you can reset the phone back to empty/blank . or you can try and reboot from there. hboot menu is the safest place to work from in this case

why did you select recovery? all i said was to try and reset from there. the red triangle means you haven't got a recovery installed that's all.
you cannot uninstall and save data im afraid as your setup means you haven't got root access. go back into hboot and rest data to wipe the phone and it will restart blank like it was when you got it new

Bit of a conundrum here - About an hour and a half ago my phone was working ok, albeit a bit slow.
I tried opening GoSMS, and it kept FCing. Didn't think anything of it, as I had a few memory hungry apps open as well (Angry Birds/Firefox), but rather than mess around with a task manager to kill the offending apps, opted for a soft boot using the power switch.
Upon rebooting the phone completes the boot animation, then at the point it would normally present me with a lockscreen and SIM unlock prompt, the screen goes black. Every 10-15 secs or so the familiar buzz, buzz-buzz-buzz of an app FCing can be felt. The power button is effective only to hold for a soft reboot, and the 3 buttons at the bottom (2 soft, 1 physical) have no effect other than to permanently illuminate the soft keys.
I've tried rebooting with every combination of the SIM card/external SD card removed, with no change.
Any suggestions?
Just remove battery from the phone. Reinsert it after 15 min and boot your device.
I wish you Good Luck !

Yup, a factory reset finally worked. I just need to remember to keep a copy of the Titanium Backup apk on the SD card. Install, then restore the TB Pro apk, reset and leave TBP restoring all the apps!
Thanks for your help guys, if someone can mark this as solved, then brilliant )
Roll on CM7!
how to catch the error?
Hi all,
same problem here (when switching the phone on this mornig).
I've already experienced this once and solved via reset, as mentioned before.
I think maybe it's something related to an app (installed some new yesterday evening), and it vould be interesting to understand the reason of this behaviour, so I was wondering how I can get the error (or read a log) to get what's not working properly.
I will have time to investigate in the afternoon, so can you give me any suggestion on how I can look after this (I'm relatively new to android)?
thank you
Hi guys,
Recently, my phone showed a pop-up about the 2.3 Gingerbread update. I downloaded it and began the installation process. However, as it was installing ( with the green bar under a phone with a sd card i think? ), the whole icons for the process disappears, and it is replaced by a phone with a red triangle and an exclamation mark inside of it.
At first, I assumed that this was due to my SD card being buggy. I moved all my files onto my computer and I reformatted the SD card, and then I put the information back on the SD. However, the problem still occurred.
I then bought a new SD card, and attempted to install the update using that one, still, no success.
After a factory reset of the phone, I attempt to install the update, yet to be again faced with no success.
I assume that the problem is because of my phone's ROM, so I put it into recovery mode. After I select recovery mode using the power button, it goes to the white HTC screen with green text, but right after that, the black screen with the phone yet again appears.
I'm so frustrated right now, as I have cleared all my phone data, my SD card data, and even spent good money on a SD card that I didn't need, and I still have not fixed this problem. Someone please help?
Thank you,
Kevin
Dude ... That is the screen that appers before the phones enters recovery ... Relax ...
Redownload the rom and wait for some time after that screen appears ...
Ive never got the update myself so i dont kno if its normal ....BUT im sure its the screen before the stock recovery opens ...

Thanks. I did that, and I left the phone to sit overnight, but it still did not change at all. When I woke up, the phone and the red error sign was still there. Are you sure that's the screen that appears before?
try to press the volume button up or down when that sign is showing
if that fails, install a ruu and run it
if that fails,
-grab the rom.zip out of the ruu (run ruu, go to %temp% folder (run %temp%) there is a temp folder -containing the rom.zip)
-copy that to a diff directory (since else it will be deleted after you cancel the process)
-rename it to PG32IMG.zip
-put it on your sdcard
-go to your hboot
-flash it
if that also fails... your fked and need to bring your phone back to the place where u bought it
Hi, thanks for the reply. I tried your first solution, but for the rest of them, I am quite confused as to what they all mean.
What exactly is a ruu, and how do i run it?
Download here and open by double clicking it...
Since using the Sony Update Service to restore .434 Firmware back onto my phone, any method now results in the following messages to be displayed on the first boot of the phone.
Factory Startup Service, with two options Power Off or Use Phone. If I click use phone, then the phone allows me to run through the standard Sony setup, although sometimes it will reboot. I notice up the top corner an icon with two overlapping squares, when I swype down the top menu, the message says max checkpoints reached.
Anyone know if this can be fixed, with a service menu or similar.
I have tried, Sony Update Service, PC Companion repair phone, factory reset, have now even tried to restore other ROMS using root and CWM Recovery, tried formating cache and delvik then factory reset . All have the same issue.
After the next reboot, the two overlapping squares at the top are gone, and the phone seems ok to operate.
Any help or hints would be greatly appreciated, or if I have unlocked something special then spill the beans. I have attached the screen shot.
I had it too when i repaired my phone but it was only for one time and it disappear.
What i did is turned off my phone when this message showed up.
Try to repair the phone again and on first boot wait till this message show up and click in turn off than reboot the phone again and clear the notification.

It's nothing! Like a boot up process in pc, it checks for all functions are working as desired after the new firmware upgrade, it creates checkpoints so that every operation should be successful for it to complete! When everyois done (it should and it will) it'll ask for a restart (power off) so that the message can disappear. If u don't want, u can use the phone right away (use phone)! It's doesn't bother you until you flash firmware next time!

Cool thank you for your replies guys. I have never seen this sort of message before with any of my other android devices. I work in IT and max checkpoints reached is not a good message, it typically means that if you have a problem you will not recover from it, I was worried about the possibility of a bricked phone.
Nothing to worry about!

hello all!
my phone was working properly (rooted but not boot unlocked)
pc companion told me there were a new version availlable (.253) I accepted, install, reboot, everything was fine.
I tried to backup my data in order to change the sd card to a bigger one...then it told me there was a problem while backuping so I did a reboot
this is where the problem begins:
now I have a white triangle with a screwdriver in it and a blue bar below it with an animation inside and it's stuck there...what does it mean for a start?
can you please help?
I'd like to recover it in order to get back my data (photos and video I wanted to put on the new sd card)
tried flashtool but it doesn't recognise the phone...
note: before doing all that, free space was low on my XZ internal storage (like 300 megs)

Unplug your phone from the USB cable and then start, see if that helps
This is exactly what I've encountered, can't find much help in the web, re-flash with wipe cache no joy, in the end re-flash with wipe data boot normally, last backup was 4 days old, restore and lost 4 days game progress...

That's strange.
Also had the same.
I updated to the .253 ROM and firmware etc and everything working fine.
I then rebooted after removing some system apps and got this.
I left it for a while and still stuck there.
Pressed a few buttons and still nothing then it suddenly rebooted (not sure if related to pressing the buttons or not) and everything was fine.
Then when it booted up it did the NFC firmware update so maybe related to that.
Not had it since and rebooted a few times.
Phil
thanks for replying guys.
problem really is that I can't use flashtool, for some reason I can't go in flashboot mode (green led right?)
and in fact I don't know all the key pressing procedures (if someone can post them all)
...but I think I got the press down and connect right, problem is that I have the green led for less than one second and then nothing...

Hi,
I also encountered this when I tried to use the old root method of .253. (yah, stupid of me but managed to salvage)
Just let it run for like 20 minutes or so and it will reboot subsequently. (As long as the progress bar still move, you should be ok)
Seems like a self-recovery process in place I guess.
yeah I guess you're right , but the first time was so long (more than 20 minutes ) so I thought it was dead...it is obviously some kind of self repair,
because now after a lot of reboots it suddenly started correctly after 5minutes of this blue bar moving....and now working? WTF?
things that I did in case it could help:
-used flashtool beta 4
-flashed a base .434 in blind mode (choosed xperia Z in the list)
-went into flashboot (press down and then plug usb) I had the green light for just a second...(I also installed EMMA drivers from sony , don't know if it helped)
-reboot then wait (I put it also on the docking bay , don't know if it helped as well but it made the blue bar go faster it seems, not sure tho...)
I used "hard boot" also : just jkeep pressing up and the power button until it vibrates 3 times.
maybe just puting it on the dock and then wait (quite some time) is enough (and makes sense)
I just had the same issue - WTF!!!
I just let it sit there for a while and it automatically started.
This is f*** crazy smart (stupid) phone.
DOn't know exactly what my wife did, but I doubt she flashed anything:laugh:
The battery died, she conncted to the charger, most probably with pushing some of the volume buttons and phone booted into Triange mode. Now it's stuk in this mode since an our.
I did Hard reset, but after phone is plug into wall charger it automatically boots in Triange mode.
This is in stock ROM without any modifications, unlocking, anything.

Just wait - sometimes it takes a while but it'll eventually boot up.
I think [NUT] said somewhere that this is a repair of certain permissions by the phone itself. I've only ever had this for some minutes - but it is possible if the battery an out it could invoke this. Shouldn't be anything to worry about.
And I think fastboot is blue led - you could try flashmode.
I tend to do lots and lots of flashing and mods so I've seen it several times. The first time caught me by surprise and lasted for a long time...now I'm just used to it ..
In my case waiting in triangle mode did not helped. Was waiting 5 hours at work. I flashed with flashtool again stock ROM without wiping data and still no response.
FInally flashed with wipe and phone is running but all data gone. What a crap.
Hi Guys, I come to the point where I need help please, I have very long experience in rooting but this issue I could't fix and/or find a solution for it since the 901S is unrooted there is no EXE RUU not been touched. This is my wife phone and I had same issue with main a year ago but since my phone was rooted I could fix it.
The issue is when the phone start rebooting by it self at once, nothing was done to cause that like installation app or what so ever. It start and when reach home screen, few sec it reboot from 0.
phone data: S-On, Hboot-1.61.0000, Radio 4t.31.3218.26, oS-5.16.709.4
I have tried this:
-Unlocking with unlock_code.bin, is give me the yes/no screen when I click yes it reboot to stock recovery then nothing, (it show the message about missing E bitmap)
-uploading rom stock or any other didn't work, not by using fastboot or any other method I know.
-run into save mode help give few more secs but nothing, it reboot here too
-factory reset from device didn't work as I click okay but it keep resetting.
-order *#*#3424#*#* and factory reset also nothing.
-the device memory is 95% full, I tried to format data or system or from fastboot or by deleting files also nothing get deleted all stock and after restart I see ever thing like it was.
any suggestion here?
thx all,
Any help any one
