hi, i have 2 questions please. although i am a 9300 user i have a problem helping a friend with his 9000. just installed CM10(4.1.2) and all works perfect. My 2 questions are:
1. figured/solved
2. how can i install a "samsung type" of contacts app?
my phone uses the same 4.1.2 but it's a stock based rom, and he really needs the contacts app like in the stock rom.
thank you for any help. i have not posted in cyanogen topic because is not necessary "cyanogen only" related but apologize if i should have done so.
Your own phone is rooted? If so, Titanium Backup should be your friendly neighbourhood system app installer. Backup your own, apply the backup on your friend's phone

You can't install the original Samsung contact app even with TitaniumBackup. It needs the touchwiz framework to run.

I would love to switch out the stock ROM on my VZW Galaxy Tab.
My question is, how do I save all of my app data?
I don't care about downloading in reinstalling apps from the marketplace

Install Titanium Backup and backup all your user data.
Just open Titanium Backup and go to menu and then Batch. Here you can see how it works.
Hi ppl
Is there any way to have all apps installed the way it was before switching to a new rom ? I mean when I try out new roms I have to install all apps again. I've tried my backup pro and titanium but they only restore all apps. Anyone has a faster way of doing this??

I'm using MyBackup root therefor. Here you can restore all apps with the data in batch mode. But I think MyBackup pro should also do it.
Did u backup your apps along with all their data? There is an option in Titanium Backup to do so in the batch option. I still have my high scores of Temple Run
MyBackup Pro seems to be the best bet considering Titanium does create issues for some folks.
But do remember restoring apps can produce errors in the working of the ROM which otherwise wouldn't exist.
Safest best is to clean instal your apps again.
Tx guys but I cannot get all apps installed . It only restores them with their respective data. I don't wanna install all apps again one by one after flashing a new rom

Titanium backup has a batch restore mode where you can restore more than one app at a time. If this is not what you mean, I don't have a clue what you're talking about.
I haven't used titanium but I'll check it out. Just to make sure do the apps get installed or just restored? I mean do I have to hit the install button for every app?

Listen buddy, this is a community here. Respect others to get respect for yourself.
Your posts are quite inconsistent.
In the same thread, at the start of the post you mentioned you have used Titanium & a couple of posts later you state you HAVE NOT yet used titanium.
with incorrect/incomplete info no one would be able to assist you correctly & your frustration levels are going to rise.
@letmedanz I didn't mean to disrespect anyone but the way nonverbose responded wasn't cool.
Anyway what I meant when I said I used titanium was that I installed it and removed it within minutes. But I'm not here to prove anything so am gonna forget it and apologize to whoever I offended.

That's cool buddy..
Anyhow, a couple of options are available...
at most times when you install a fresh rom, android automatically installs the apps you had on earlier.
This happens when you run the new rom for the first time, in the initial setup.
Provided you have synced your phone with your gmail account.
once you provide your wifi and/or apn details android will automatically download and instal all the apps.
your second option is as you mentioned, third party apps like titanium & mybackup pro.
personally, i prefer MBP cos titanium has given me more than one problem.
MBP is a neat app, you can either backup/restore all apps or just select a few.
howevre , i still believe it is best to reinstall all apps after a new rom instal, cos restored apps may force close or have other issues specially if you are changing between GB & ICS etc
+1 for Titanium backup !!!
You can backup personnal applications, but their settings and your system settings too !!!
The retore process is quicker than google process because you haven't to download applications from network.
Settings...Image?

I have titanium backup pro and have not figured out how to restore all the settings. Maybe I'm confused, but I have to spend hours setting all the preferences, screens widgets etc each time I flash a new ROM. I've heard you can "Image" backup. Does Titanium do that?
Go backup and go backup pro is best..It don't prompt to install each and every app every time..batch restore with data..easy than titanium backup..

Make sure you know what you're talking about before you post. Titanium backup pro HAS batch restore mode in which you don't have to INDIVIDUALLY install every app.

But on another note IF YOU TOOK THE TIME TO SEARCH you would find that there are a couple of ways around the security features BUT you have to know how to use adb commands

do a backup in cwm recovery backup. then do a cwm factory reset, then in the fresh new clean cm9 use an app that will allow you to extract apps and data from the recovery. i use the app manager that came with rom toolbox pro. but its a paid for app i dont know if the lite version has that feature. but if you dont have rom toolbox pro you should. the app manager will let you restore any app, app+data or just data from the apps in your cwm backup. problem solved.
this is something I wrote for the lock pattern, but it will apply to any other lock method

Hi,
First, Christmas, New year wishes to all.
I flash ROMs almost every weak, and 50% of the time, wipe data...
Titanium backup is saving my life with it's app management.
But I'm bored to install my favorite apps every time. It takes almost 30mins to install all my apps and data manually using titanium backup.
Option #1:
I'm just wondering whether any app support installing app+data in a batch mode with selectable options?
Option #2
Is it even possible to create a clock work mod flushable zip that install apps and it's data???
Thanks,
Senthur

This is possible with titanium backup, although you do need the pro version. I would also like to find an alternative that is free or not as pricey as TB. Anybody know/use
Anything?

Dear Experts
My SGS3 (GT-I9305) was working flawlessly, only it wasn't rooted
Android version 4.1.2
I rooted it using : farmroot as below :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2130276
After rooting I uninstalled some applications from the phone that are safe to be removed based on the link below :
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0AqTvctlW89DtdC1qVUlLeVFTV3ZOdUtDclpBdVRQOUE&pli=1
I ended up with two error messages initially :
Unfortunately touch wiz home has stopped
Click to collapse
Secondly with
Unfortunately, messaging has stopped
Click to collapse
My troubleshooting
1- Clear data for touch wiz no joy
2- Clear data for messaging no joy
3- I did backup using Titanium then I did a factory reset twice (via tow different ways)but still problem not fixed
Although I didn't restore anything yet via Titanium
Any other suggestions ? Did rooting create the problem ? Or removing apps ? Why reset didn't fix the issue ?
Thanks

I don't recall that I had done that
You need to restore your Nandroid backup .
Whatever you debloated you have removed some key components hence the messages .

Are saying I need to restore what I backuped via Titanium ? or something else ?
Regards
If you don't have that you can flash it with your firmware.
EDIT: I would have invested in mobile odin in that case. Makes life easier.

He meant you should restore with your custom recovery, but if you don't have one and didn't do any backup that's not so easy..

Anytime! And i would also clear data/cache and dalvik cache. It will erase your phone so it will be like new.
And install custom recovery and do a backup when you get all things running so you can restore your phone if something happens again..
Good luck!
