I am currently running SlimBean 3.1 with Semaphore kernel 2.6.2s on my Samsung Galaxy S i9000. I don't know why, but whenever I connect the USB cable and select mount usb storage, the phone goes back to the boot animation, as if I had rebooted it. I haven't had this problem with any other versions of SlimBean so far, and I am literally going on an ALL CAPS RAGE with this phone/ROM.
Any ideas as to what's causing this?? Thanks in advance.

I'm running Serendipity 5.8, Kernel 2.6.32.9 hardcore at speedmod-i897-kl3a-500hz #34
Firmware 2.2.1
Was working great, but all of a sudden it's not being detected by computer. It was previously because I had to connect via USB to get the gtalk app and exchange mail app onto the phone.
I've tried uninstalling drivers, reinstalling, rebooting computer, rebooting phone.. every combination I can think of.
Anybody have any suggestions?
What happens when you plug usb in
Computer doesn't detect it, and phone doesn't do anything except begin charging (tried different USB ports at the back of PC)
If I uninstall the drivers then reinstall, the first time I connect the phone it completes the driver install but then still doesn't detect the phone.
Someone earlier had a similar issue. Really not sure.
Buggar....
Maybe try a different kernel
How can I download a kernel to the phone without using USB?
Easy
Dl astro file manager from market
Go to preferences, select download from browser.
Find kernel to flash. Dl on phone. I dl everything directly to my phone. Kernels, roms, etc
Thanks. You got a recommended kernel?
Mind you this is a bit of a shot in the dark cause I have not had that problem with hardcores but try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=516546&d=1297588801
Dill pickle kernel. Voodoo based. 2.2.1
Well. That was the weirdest thing.
DLed, opened with ROM Manager, went through the reboot to install procedure, it got to recovery and gave me some weird installation aborted messages... wouldn't let me reboot from the menu - had to pull the battery. restarted and my phone was talking to me at the Samsung screen... took a couple of minutes.. booted up and USB detected right away, and DIllPIckle Kernel is on... so I dunno if it half worked and fixed the issue, or if it will get funky in the gfuture, but for right now i'ts fixed!
Thanks.
Do not use rom manager on custom roms. Get into recovery install zip from sd.
Voices was google
Happy to hear it worked
I can't use cwm with some custom roms and i have to do the battery pull to get back.
i had the same problem running serendipity 5.8... phone was charging but comp didnt detect it..tried for 2 days every possible way but no luck. odin didnt recognized it or adb. pretty much its hardware issue...rogers is sending me replacement
sorry
Hey guys.
So I have a problem,
I was on darky's rom 10 and I have installed cyanogenmod7.
After that phone was woooow fast and great and everything...untill I decided to listen some tunes from external sd.
And so I have found out that I can't see external sd because I installed cyanogenmod on non froyo ROM.
Then I've tried to flash stock froyo but odin hanged a long time and I just restarted whole operation.
Now I have an icon ! that phone wants to connect to computer.
I can enter download mode with vol. down + home + power but it that state Odin cant see shiet. Only thing that can see phone in that state is windows (trying to install drivers and then fails!?) and kies (hanging on "connecting").
So, what are my options? Bricked for life? Or..... :S
k that symbol means connectivity issues, so try changing the usb port and if that fails try using another usb cable...run odin as administrator before trying all this!!
ok I've managed to get Odint to recognise it..
I've tried to flash froyo from this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=853950
and it doest boot, hangs at samsung/galaxy logo 4ever...
flashing darky's 9 resurection also gives no good thing.
just hangs on start samsung/galaxy logo/black screen in loop....
had the same problem as well and it was solved by plugging the usb cable at the back of the pc.
if that doesnt work try flashing other roms... you can find some tutorial on totallydubbed's youtube channel with the link of the rom in the description.

Hey ppl,
I've had an awful fight with this phone and my brain and stupid PC.
omg
So, I have tried to flash 2.2 and it worked, then tried to flash cyanogenmod and it worked (again) but I couldn't reach external sd (again).
So I said to myself...f*** this s*** I'm going on stock,
And I did,
firmware version
2.3.4
baseband version
I9000XXJVR
kernel version
2.6.35.7-I9000XXJVR-CL425308
[email protected] #2
build number
gingerbread.xxjvr
This is what I have, and the problem I'm facing (again) is that phone or pc via USB can't recognise external SD.
Help please.
p.s. how can I easily go to cyanogenmod from here?
Kies is saying that "This version of the device cannot be updated."
Windows can't see either internal or external SD.
update;
I've installed Darky's 10.2 ressurection, something is very wrong with my phone.
Install went fine, rebooted ok.
Still no SD card, when I reinsert it, it says its blank or non supported format.
Tryed to reboot the phone and it just loops on darky's logo/animation.
Help?
Was using my CM9 modded with Glitch'd SGS and here comes the problem , i had removed my usb plug and the charging icon was still shown, so had it rebooted and gone out and now when i connect my SGS it has been detected only once then again my SGS's is not getting detected and no on screen response of USB connc. and CWM mounting also's not working...!!!
cannot understand what happened and even it's not responding to the charger also but when i switch off my phone and connect my charger it get's switched on!!
and then again the same no detection in USB mode and CWM mount also..
please help me guys this is driving me insane!!!
But it's getting detected over the ODIN..!
Got it back to 2.2 but the weird charging happens again it still says my device is charging even after removing the USB off..
& one more thing when ever i connect it it shows car mode enabled...!
You need to be on the Gingerbread bootloaders. Why on earth do you want to flash 2.2 when you could flash 2.3 instead?
And, please do us a favor by using the Edit option instead of making multiple posts.

I always prefer that coz i have a rooted 2.2 and 2.3 Stock i preferred root any flash would do the same since it's the ODIN btw it's bricked now the BSOD came up .
Sorry that i posted multiple times i was actually worried.
Anyways thanks for the reply.
Hey everyone, I need your help and I haven't been able to find the solution through searching.
I had installed CM9 Nightly with no issues except for horrible battery life (having to charge twice a day from my usual once every two days on the stock 2.3.3) so I decided to try out CM7 and apparently that was a huge mistake because now I'm stuck in a bootloop. I get the Galaxy S Cyanogen screen, then it quickly goes through like it's loading something, then flashes the Galaxy GT-I9000M screen then starts all over again.
I can get into the downloading screen with Vol-, Home and Power so I tried using Odin to reflash but when I plug my phone into my computer I get "USB not recognized."
What else can I do?
try download USB driver for samsung galaxy S first, it help me in my case when I soft brick my phone.
1) try using cable to charge the phone, if it does, but does not connect , check cable, or try using another samsung usb cable
2) check micro usb slot for damage or misaligned pins, and also clean
3) try switching off WIFI, reboot phone and try to connect
4) try this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=27205737&postcount=4571
Hello folks, i've been experiencing some problems with my S3 mini lately, USB isn't working correctly, i don't know why, i.e: I have my phone connected to computer, everything working fine, charging, mass storage etc... but when i disconnect it, the charging logo and mass storage keeps running .
Same happens when charging it with electricity only, the charging logo gets stuck there, and the phone thinks it's still charging, even if i reboot it, the problem persists, i need to take off the battery everytime that happens so the charging logo dissapears and everything returns to work normally, any ideas on what would be the cause of this ? can't be the ROM, since i had that problem with previous ones too
yes i have same problem can someone helpp us!?!?!? :crying::crying:
