Power + Up & Down Volume Buttons with USB plugged in
I saw it too...was having difficulty rooting last night (drivers not loading thanks to several sets of HTC/Samsungs loaded on this lappie), and was surprised to see it! Then I loaded Samsung drivers for the N4....all very odd! LOL!
Isn't it just power plus both volume buttons, did usb plugged in really have to be done?

This is good. The G2x had the same thing to restore the stock original image if the phone wasn't responding in boooader or recovery mode

I used the Odin3 One Click to flash my phone, at first I had to pull the battery and try again, and when I did, it worked. The phone tried to boot up, but is now looping at the boot screen, it shows AT&T, blacks out, and back. I tried going into download mode with the two different key combinations since they worked before, but now either give me the grey battery charging screen when it's off and it's plugged in, or again on the AT&T screen.
I was running 2.2, I had upgrated from 2.1 with root access. it's the I897 Captivate, and it's just that I am now left at blinking screens of either AT&T or battery charging.
What is your build number?
Located under battery, white sticker off to the left. Something like 1008

Odin one click is jf6 stock. Builds 1010 and up are jh7. Many are not able to use the one click. This should work, just a bit more complicated

I have the firmware downloading, that will take awhile.
the problem I have is trying to get into download mode, I took out everything(SD,SIM,battery.) I leave the phone connected with to the USB cable, I hold down the volume keys and put the batter in.
before that used to get me into download mode, now it sends me to the grey battery, and that screen stays on for 5 seconds, blanks, and comes back.
is there other ways to get into download mode?
USB out. Only battery in. Hold volume up and down plug in usb

you can build a jig or buy online here:

it will help you into download mode in seconds...

Well, guess that's my only choice.
Today I noticed that the power button does not work because when I can not unlock, but to remove and replace the battery automatically turns on what I'm thinking is that the power button got stuck
any idea?
Going to need alot more info. Where you running stock or custom rom?
Sent from my Captivate using XDA Premium App
im not running a rom, i stay in stock rom.
all started when I received a text message and read the message, when I wanted to block it and not work the power button. I have noticed that sometimes it works with a few strokes with my fingers but it shows me if I turn off the phone. I believe that the power button is stuck

when I put the battery automatically turns on, but if I keep pressing the 3 buttons combo I can enter recovery mode, but don't works power button in this mode =/
I'd try an clean around the button and if that works
I am not sure thus will do anything but if you can't get your phone running at all you can try to Odin flash stock to see if maybe it clears the problem. If you cab get into recovery then the power button works for something

Inzombie, what exactly did you do? I have been having the same problem for quite some time...I was able to get into download mode using a program I found on the internet, and I flashed back to stock but the power button is still messed up, it doesn't work at all. What exactly did you do
i know this is an old topic but I have the same problem. I got this phone from a friend and now I cant use the power button. I have taken it apart twice now trying to fix it with no luck. I know it isnt the rom. The button is "stuck" but it still clicks. I know it is stuck because it will never turn off. Once battery is in it turns on, and for 3 button recovery, I only need to hold the vol rocker.
I own a LG thrill and I recently went from cyanogenmod to stock gingerbread and about a week after my power button stopped working. I assume it's a hardware problem. Worse yet is my phone shut off on me and i have no way of powering it on. Is there any way of powering my phone back on to use it? i have seen this question posted multiple times but everybody who asked it isn't running a stock rom and there phone isn't actually turned off. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Plug it in to charge and when the lg logo pops up, unplug it. It should power on

I just took my phone apart and the cable running from the circuit board to the power button was being squished, so i fixed it and now it's working. Thanks for trying to help though.
I come to you all with a slight problem. I own a rooted Incredible 2 device and I'm doing great. My friend, however, owns a Droid 4. She went from an Envy3 to a brand-spankin'-new smartphone. She came to me for help since I pretend to know what I'm talking about.
Now the problem she's having is that sometimes when she turns her phone on, the backlight come on and the softkey lights come on, but the phone doesn't boot up. I've played with it a bit and after doing to reset method (hold down power + vol down) and it works every now and again but most of the time it does not work.
I'm hoping you guys can diagnose and help me out. Thanks!
I imagine you've already checked, but just in case and because the most obvious things tend to sometimes slip our minds...the battery is charged, right? If it shuts back down before fully booting, that could be it. If it just sits there partially booted, idk. Also, plugged in or not plugged in when this happens?

Haha, yes. I was going to add that in the original post but I thought it was too obvious. Uh, it might be partially booted? It's just the backlight and softkeys that are lit up.
Stock d4?... rooted... ? If stock I'm guessing you tried the basics like safe mode (hold "OK" button from moto dual core screen till it says safe mode...) FDR... FDR and safe mode without SD card... ? When booting or the attempt to boot where does it stop? Do you see the dual core screen... the DROID eye... can you get into the recovery menu?

As you can see, the connector on the right is broken. What part should be replaced?
I bought this because another connector from the glass was broken, too.

That appears to be for the LCD, so you will need both your new digitizer and new LCD
That being said I believe there are two different LCDs for this phone and they aren't 100% compatible so make sure you get the right one.
Not having done this my self on this phone (but on many others) I can't say for sure what to look for but I believe there was an amoled and LCD variant and the sticker on the screen should indicate which one to get. But I suggest to Google for your answer
Sent from my Nexus 4 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Would that be the correct LCD?

If you can get into fastboot still, which I would assume if you put together the phone while broken this is still possible run
fastboot getvar all
And check your microp version

Does charge. Red to yellow to green. Still no response.
Did your power button work before all this? Have you tried the battery trick to turn it on? Search "broken power button" here and you will learn how to boot it without power button
Then just get adb and fastboot to work and you'll be fine

Ok, got it. I did the batter trick and the menu lights and track led turned on and felt the vibration. My computer also recognized the phone and installed the drivers automatically. However the screen has been black all the time.
Good now setup adb/fastboot on PC if you haven't already, you need to get phone into bootloader and run some commands from PC
fastboot getvar all
Then you will know what screen to buy
