[Q] Very urgent help needed. No more signal. :( - Motorola Atrix HD

Unlocked, unrooted AT&T Atrix HD. Got the app, "Phone Info" which basically replaces *#*#4636#*#* code which is blocked on the phone.
While trying to get 3G to work on the phone, I clicked on the menu option on the app and selected the "set radio band" option and chose USA. Needless to say, I live outside USA where GSM is on 900/1800 and 3G on 2100.
The phone is unlocked and was working on the network with calls and EDGE previously. Now it won't get any signal. I tried the other options on the app - PCS, Cellular, 2000 and none of them works!
What have I done? What should I do?
I have even tried a factory reset and it does not fix it! Have I bricked the phone radio?
Thanks!

did you try the factory reset using the atrix HD utility or just factory reseted using the options menu?

I did it using the settings menu and also through the stock recovery. The HD utility link for AT&T is down so I have not tried that yet. Does that restore stock radio?
Thanks.

I've done this both with my Atrix 4G and now with the HD. With the 4G I had to reflash the software using the Motorola tool. The tool unfortunately doesn't work with the HD, so I used the v1.0 utility. In the relevant 4G thread, they were talking about reflashing the radio only but I don't know how to do this with the HD. Also, even though my phone is up and working, I have noticed that not everything works like before, i.e. I am having issues when using bluetooth with Skype, the phone responds slow when tethering, and I no longer have Flash.

I found this blog post: http://www.andromods.com/basic-how-...sbf-xml-zip-hs-gz-bz2-files-moto-devices.html
And I'm going to give it a try. Did you download the same firmware as the one you already had in your Atrix HD?
Also, according to the blog post, Motorola's RSDLite tool does work. What problem did you face?
And by flash not working, do you mean the camera flash or browser flash (adobe)? Phone responds slow while tethering means?
Thanks.

Yeah I saw the utility thread but the AT&T download link is broken so I downloaded RSDLite and the firmware from http://sbf.droid-developers.org/dinara/7.7.1Q-144_MB886_MR1-22_SIGNED_CFC.xml.zip
Did you try RSDLite? What problems happened? If you used the same firmware, there is very little chance bluetooth, etc should fail? Were they working before anyway?

No, I didn't try RSDLite. Bluetooth with Skype acts weird where I hear the other party on my earpiece but Skype uses the phone microphone; I don't think it was like this before.

If RSD Lite fails its almost always because the end-user didn't remove the two or so "getvar" lines from the fastboot xml.

What happens during tethering? If you can tell me I can check to see if that happens with RSDLite. If not, you could use this option.

The phone had become very slow responding. I believe I had enabled tethering, then changed some settings. It's weird BTW that it doesn't let you change settings (it's grayed out) before you enable tethering.

Did you try to factory data reset by going to settings->privacy and click factory data reset? It happend to me before on my atrix 2. Im playing with my radio on/off in the hidden menu and later i loss my phone signal. What i did is just factory reset and my phone turn ok.

Okay, I have lucked out and managed to get a mint phone back. I have updated them here; http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2035208
So, none of the problems you have mentioned have happened. And camera flash is working fine - I don't know if you meant this one or browser flash player.

I mean Adobe Flash Player. It used to be listed in my Google Apps as installed; I just couldn't update it to the latest version, since they no longer support Android > 4.0. Now it is no longer listed.

[MOD] Telstra 1.4.2 Radio N_01.87.00R

Hi,
I have managed to keep my Bell firmware by updating just the radio, just edited the Telstra sbf to remove all code blocks but RDl1, RDl3, and Cg5.
Download it here.
Cheers!
havent really messed with radios but im assuming this will unlock the huspa?
very cool, i like it. I think I'll run it tonight, I'll probably come back and confirm that this works in a little while

Yes, at least on my phone it does, see the screen shots, the results contain before and after.
I used desbf.exe.

one question before i run this - generally an sbf will wipe user configs on the phone, will this sbf NOT do that because you edited it to simply be the radio?

i doubt it. the entire Telstra sbf didn't work with AT&T, so I don't see why the radio would.
i wonder who will be the first that tries it on a US phone... chirp chirp chirp...
probably will brick
I would rather be safe than sry messing with radios but thank you for the useless response....

Nothing changed on my phone except the radio.
I don't see why it wouldn't work on ATT, and you can probably do the same thing to revert back to your old radio. Just run desbf.exe, it has been used for ages for monster packs, etc.
Cheers!
If this works, you my friend are a genious!
I am going to try this after I finish watching the Canucks finish off the Blackhawks.

Does the wifi still work. I asked because I flashed the Telstra SBF after making a recovery backup of my Bell system. When I restored to my bell I retained the uncapped upload speeds but then started getting "error" when trying to turn on my wifi.
Screw it. Flashing now! It's going....
Will report after!
I didn't see that error. I did the steps in the SBF thread, a few differences. I did it from the usual phone screen, not RSD mode. Also, mine came up se olympus
not ns olympus, when I did try RSD mode, but it didn't work. I had the most recent motor drivers, then reverted to the ones in that thread. I was trying to get just the cg5 file flashed but needed the rdl files as well. What the minimum steps are I am not sure.

Ok. Flashed. Worked fine with RSD Lite in RSD mode.
Ran speed test several times. Averages are:
Download: 3.5Mbps
UPLOAD: 1.72Mps
Wifi: Working
Kick ass! Thanks man! It works!

Not sure how you restored your phone to bell, there is no sbf file from bell. Likely, you have a hybrid of the two firmware causing that issue.

NEED HELP

Please help a noob out and show me the right way on how to root this phone, unlock bootloader and flash a recovery. There are a lot of info's all over the thread. I don't know which one to start in. Seems like there are different ways to root the ATRIX HD and I don't want to mess up.
I am also with T-Mobile so my phone is unlocked. I don't wanna have to do anything that will re-lock my phone. I'm currently running 4.1.1

Once your carrier unlocked, its permanent.
Use Motochopper to root...no one here feels like dealing with the Samba Sh!t again...
Then use this to unlock the bootloader
There are a few ways to install recovery -- See my HOW TO for the manual way, there's the one-click method, and using Rom Toolbox and installing the Photon Q CWM. All are easy and can be found in the first pages of our forums. The 2nd two are easier, but its really worth it to learn the manual way.
Thanks a lot man now Im having another problem. For some weird apparent reason I'm not getting mobile data only data I'm getting is from my gmail but instagram, chrome,Facebook is not getting any connection. Does it have anything to do with the APN?

Maybe. Are you on a custom rom, not using ATT 4.1.1? Need more info. List rom\fastboot and any mods you might be using.
Try connecting to WiFi and see if your apps can connect. After that, try wiping cache, dalvik cache and see if that helps. If after trying both of those and you still have no connection, its likely be a bad rom install.
You didn't flash MR or Bell 4.1.2 over AT&T 4.1.1 and not factory reset did you? Or restore AT&T Settings.apk app data with Titanium Backup from on a diferent rom? Doing both of those could cause errors like you're having.

Sorry for the late reply, but no this is stock AT&T and all the bloatware is installed. I figured it out. I had to change the APN to fast.T-Mobile.com and my internet is working now. As for putting in roms. I heard 4.2.2 will remove LTE is this true?
EDIT:My friend is giving me **** because I paid 250 for this unlocked ATRIX HD. For an extra 60 dollars more I could have bought the Nexus 4 and more development support he says plus its a Quad Core. At the time I had no idea about the dev support for this device and he was right. There are barely any support for this device. I love the PA roms and PacMan roms to be ported over to this device. But no roms from them at all. My battery life sucks because of all the bloatware, but so far I am liking this phone a lot. I'm going to be patient and wait.

Hey all, I have a Bell Atrix HD running stock 4.1.2. Just wondering which (if any) root methods will work for it. I have looked through the root threads but nothing I see says Bell or support for the latest stock firmware.

Just use the Myth Tools package and you should be good to go.
So finally got around to trying this. I tried to root but all root tools say it's not rooted, and Superuser is showing no SU Binary installed. Used the latest mythools.
It says it worked, (found device, etc) but doesn't seem to actually work. I have the latest USB Drivers, Debugging, and Unknown sources. I know the usb cable is good, as I was doing app development before I tried.

I had an original Atrix which died (earpiece speaker) and have had the HD for almost 3 months. I had the original Atrix unlocked, custom firmware, etc but never got around to doing it with this phone. Mainly because this phone has stock 4.1.2 whereas the original only had 2.3.4 as highest (before I unlocked).
Couple questions..
1) The unlock work the same as the original? In that once it's unlocked the stock os will still run no problem then just flash customs via recovery? And to return to stock (not that I should have to) is it as simple as just doing a Recovery install of my current stock, or do I need to RDS a stock image. If so are there stock bell images on here?
2) The Atrix 4g had really bad issues with going up to 4.x roms due to driver support (there was a team making a new kernel from the ground up).. does the HD Suffer from the same sort of problems (No HW Acceleration, Camera/Recording issues, HDMI Issues, etc) or does it run more or less perfect?
@firey21 It depends how long ago you rooted your original Atrix. Last year was good for the Atrix HD, it's so simple to root now. Stock runs fine after unlock and root. Just make sure you do a nandroid backup of your original using your CWM recovery before you flash a new ROM. Are you unlocked? Motopocalypse does that. Click the name for the download. As far as I know, from experience, everything works great. Especially with SlimKat by Tecknofreak. Great ROM I'm currently running.

[Q] Loading ROM for use with T-Mobile?

Hello!
I've successfully rooted my phone, and have signed on with T-Mobile. However, while calling and SMS works fine, MMS and data don't work at all! I've googled around and the consensus seems to be that the Verizon software is the issue.
So, I've downloaded CloudyStock, but am totally ignorant as to how I should proceed. I've looked through the forums over there, but can't find a step by step. Could anyone help me out? I've downloaded FreeGee and QuickBoot if that helps.

Yes, look for the thread containing the AutoRec app recovery installation. It will put twrp 2.7.0.0 on. DO NOT UP-GRADE recovery until 2.7.1.1 is out. Twrp 2.7.1.0 has some really nasty bugs. Thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715496 the easiest way without a computer.

Flashing a ROM is easy via recovery. I personally flash any new ROM with an otg usb drive. Once recovery is installed, hit install button then directory/path/to/your/ROM.zip then swipe to flash. Its actually easy, and assuming all your software is correct, should boot right in.

No way is it bricked. For that, you would need cloudys support/thread. I've seen a thread pertaining to that but can't recall the specifics. Your not a bother, but I typically try to stay away from ROMs that have multiple issues mainly because my time is limited for trouble shooting. I found xdabbebs modified stock ROM ideal for a daily driver with Dori's kernel and g2 tweaks the most stable and dependable. I have yet to try cloudys mainly because of the issues of other users. I think your main issue here is having Verizon software on a T-mobel network. Your will probably have to flash t-mob KDZ files in order to correct your problems. I would think a mobile carrier would do this for you when you signed on idk. in the cloudystock OP post, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=50630975 his link to basebands your are going from a vs980 to a d802 yes? Hi there grandpa_faust. I was in a similar situation as you in terms of wanting to use your Verizon LG G2 with T-Mobile service. I purchased a Verizon LG G2 yesterday. I rooted and installed recovery but kept it stock. I had planned to use the phone with T-Mobile service. After I entered the correct APN settings the phone would not even connect at H+ speeds. I think it was closer to 2G speed, but I knew that it should connect at a higher speed since my Nexus 5 reached LTE speeds with the same SIM card. I installed CloudyStock 2.2 choosing the Verizon variant in the Aroma installer. With the network mode in Global and with the correct APN settings the phone seems to be connected at LTE speeds. I tested the phone while I was out and about today and the areas where I had LTE with my Nexus 5 were connecting at the same speeds with the LG G2.
Your current baseband is the same one that I have right now. I'm not sure where you are at this point. If you are rooted and have recovery then you are almost there if your goal is to install a custom ROM. I'm sure there are others on this awesome forum who will chime in as well in case your problems are more involved.
Regards.

Ok, Emmitt! SO, data settings had defaulted to MetroPCS, now that I changed it to TMobile IPv6 the data works fine! However, the error message from before (android.process.acore, contacts) are still there and I can't use the phone or contacts. Should I just switch to a different ROM? Skype is still open for any takers
The solution:
Settings –> Applications –> Manage Applications –> All (button on the top that lets you see all applications) –> scroll down to “Contacts Storage” –> Click on “Clear Data” Then restart

That worked fine, but the same fix did NOT work for the messaging. I've got 2 out of 3! Thank you all for your knowledge, I hope we can get this last bit in.

did you do a full wipe in recovery prior to flashing the zip? Most installer scripts do this but if it's not done (otherwise known as a dirty flash) might be fragmented software causing conflicts.

I thought I had, I can re-wipe and reinstall if that helps! I definitely did prior to installing the recovery app.

Just try wiping dalvik and cache in advanced wipe of twrp. Should fix, if not do a factory reset via twrp this will erase all apps and data

Factory reset did it! Sometimes I still get a message "SIM detected, switching to global mode" or the network goes out entirely for 2-3min, but overall the phone, data and sms work just fine!
I'm going to try and figure out wifi calling, then I'll be golden. Thank you all so so much for your comments and support, I wish I could throw gold at you! Cheers.

The new problem is, I flashed a D801 kernel by accident and now it's in bootloop. I can sometimes get it to recognise the drivers and I can consistently get into download mode, but neither KDZ or TOT pushing has worked. :/

Can you get into recovery? Power vol- button combo? If so just flash correct kernel version n good to go. It will tell you factory hard reset but it won't. That's part of the Loki patch work around. Power 3 times then recovery menu will pop up.

[Q] Anyone succesfully reverted back to 4.2.2?

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2644083
according to that, you can revert to stock. im assuming 4.2.2? i want to go back to use the app that gives you recovery. (which is not yet available for kitkat) to use cm11
so question is, can i use that method to go back to 4.2.2? or would it take me to 4.4.4? my phone is not bricked. just stock 4.4.2
helppp. thankssss.
As long as you download the correct TOT file, that is the correct procedure that I have used on my at&t d950.

Remember to do a full wipe, because the applications from 4.4.2 to 4.2.2 they will not be worked and the phone will have a bootloop
Will this work if I'm on stock 4.4.2 and want to downgrade to 4.2.2?
Forgot to add I'm not rooted sorry

Damn I wanted to try the MIUI Rom but don't want the hassle. I'm guess this is the only way?
I don't think he has a d959 version of the miui yet. They are so close to getting cm11 ready for a beta. Radio is now working just gotta get the kernel to run stable. But as fast as they are coming along I wouldn't be surprised if its ready by the weekend.

Gerett needs the 4.2 files and MIUI should work for the d959. I'm following the two Rom threads by the min. lol

That's my fault. He asked for them a couple weeks ago and I got sidetracked with my son and work has been hell. But thanks for reminding me. I just sent him what he needed.
Tested the first d959 miui. No go as of right now. Boots but no screen. Just black screen. Still a little more work but I'm sure soon.
haven't had MIUI on any phone since I had my Note 2, and kinda miss it!
Gerret had a sweet miui rom on that phone, so I know how great it would be if it works out the Flex..
I was having the same issue and i read a post in another forum here on xda (can't remember which one or i would link you to it) that used QPST force the phone into download mode. I also was unable to get it into download mode using adb. At any rate, it was fairly simple to do and i have done it multiple times since then. Just Google a working download of QPST, install it, and then follow the instructions below.
1) make sure that you're port settings I the hidden menu on your phone are set too diag mode. Data can be enabled for them as well, but diag is a must.
2) set the dmapp usage setting to ON in the hidden menu as well. The hidden menu is accessed by dialing 3845#*XXX# in the dialer where XXX is replaced by the three digits of your model number e.g. for a T-Mobile G Flex (D959) it would be 3845#*959#.
3) connect the phone to the computer you installed QPST on and wait for the proper drives to install.
4) open QPST configuration and click "add new port". Select the lg diagnostics port and then click the start services menu tab.
5) start the Software Download service and then make sure that you're phone was properly recognized by the service.
6) click the multi-image tab and set your window to look as the photo below.
7) once the window looks like the photo, click the start button and then hit the abort button as soon as possible so as to not actually do anything other than just reset the phone.
8) if all goes as it's supposed to, your phone should have been reset into download mode. I hope this helped.
