[Q] Need help with Flashing CM10 ROM on my SGS-I9000 - Galaxy S I9000 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I need help with installing CM10 ROM on my phone.
**per forum guidlines, I tried looking a similar thread before posting this new thread**
(My SGS-I9000 phone specifications(below):
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-I9000DDJV9-CL312456 [email protected] #2
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.DDJV9)
I have ALREADY ROOTED my phone using "SuperOneClickv2.3.1-ShortFuse". However, I am unable to flash a new ROM. I am currently trying to flash "cm-10-20121208-NIGHTLY-galaxysmtd" ROM using ROM Manager application. The ROM Manager initiates the flash successfully, but fails installation with two error messages (as listed below) -
E: Failed to verify whole-file signature
E: signature verification failed
Also, note that the ROOT was successfull. I have installed 'Root Checker' app and verified that the rooting was successfull.
Please help. This is my first time...rooting the phone and trying to flash a custom ROM.
Thanks!

[Q] step by step procedure to hack and install any custom Rom in my galaxy s

so i need step by step procedure to install any custom Rom in my sgs 2.3.3 firmware xxjvk
So as you're unable to use search, here is the guide:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=723596
But... you know, flashing, rooting etc. is far more complicated than searching the forum.
Are you sure that you will be able to do it?...
ya sure why not
i have already rooted and unrooted my phone but i just don't know how to install custom Roms i mean when i tried to install darky Rom it ended with signature verification failed that's it...
Right. Now you are saying: darky. As mentioned in my previous post, in the giude there is notification: EACH of the custom ROM is delivered with DIFFERENT method of application. So, if you tried to flash DarkyROM from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=814091, of course you followed the step-by-step guide from linked in post #1 link: http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/v10-2-final-what-are-you-waiting-for.4253/, or even better from http://www.darkyrom.com/community/index.php?threads/rom-darkyrom-v10-2-2-final-touchwiz-4.5124/ ?
And of course you have used Odin-flashable version of Ficeto's 10.2 Resurrection (10.2 RE) on the beginning, then installed and used DarkyROM Tool from Market...?
So, on which stage have you got this signature verification error?
Sorry, but repetition of the step-by-step guides included in above links is pointless, if you cannot read it there, you will not be able to read it here as well.

[Q] Unable to get Superuser Permission for CWM on Galaxy Note

hie all...
i have done all the steps to root + CWM using the CF-Root method using the 'not-rooted-yet.bat'
manage to get CWM and superuser installed but everytime i go in to CWM. i get this message:
'This version of CWM Manager should be used with CF-Root v5.0 or newer. It appears you are running a different kernel. Various features have been disabled.'
My purpose is to flash to a custom ROM but i cant seem to get past this rooting part. tried most of the method suggested in forums but kept on getting the same error again and again.
Baseband Version: N7000DXKJ3

but there is only superuser app in the phone but i cant assign root to any app
and the CWM is missing from the applications already
so i assume i have to root + CWM all over again now

Yes you are on nonrootable rom.
I giving u guideline here follow it.
1. If you have already any older rom on your hand, then just flash it with pc odin
Then get root + cwm,
After that, you can update to newer rom with cwm.
2. If you dont hav older rom handy, just find last link on my signature 'when other method fail.....' Follow that link, then you will have rooted rom.
After that u can get cwm/ mobile odin and update newr rom with it.

Flash Rootable Stock ROM KL3
After flashing Enable USB debugging in Device (Settings>Applications>Development)
Download "CF-Root-SGN_XX_ODD_KL3-v5.0-CWM5.rar"
Extract it and Run "not-rooted-yet.bat"

Trying to upgrade Samsung I9001 without much luck

Hello Form
I have been trying to upgrade my Samsung I9001 without much luck after searching this forum and Google
Below is the following info for my Phone.
firmware 2.3.5
BandVersion I9001XXKPF
Kernal 2.6.35.7-perf [email protected]#1
Build Number GINGERBREAD.XXKPP
pda: i9001xxkpp
phone i9001xxkpf
csc i9001vitkp2
Via this form I have been able to gain root access to my phone and have been trying to install one of the latest roms from this forum
ICS333-2.0.1-signed but I keep getting an error message "Error in /cache/update.zip (status 2) installation Aborted"
So I have read further on this form and with google and people write that I need to install a Value pack to upgrade the firmware 2.3.6 using Odin and setting the phone in Download mode, this I have tried and after 20 mins and changing diffrent USB ports didnt seem to work.
I then bought the Pro version of ROM Manager where you can download the latest roms "Darkys_v9.5" this downloads but when I try to install I get the same error as above "Error in /cache/update.zip (status 2)".
So after a couple of days searching and reading im not any further, so tought that I would ask the more experienced users of this forum for help
Is is possible to upgrade my phone to the Latest Android Version and what software scripts do I need for my phone version
Thanks in advance for any help

First thing you should do is use the WIKI for i9001 http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/Samsung_Galaxy_S_Plus/GT-I9001 , IF you try to use i9000, you will have only problems

Hello Xsenman, thanks for your replay and like to your goodies page
I have done what you said and and added a CWM 6.0 Recovery via Odin and when I enter the recover mode it says CWM_based Recovery v6.0.1.0 so this is working, I then tried to install the "Darky Rom" or the once from this forum ICC333-2.01,
But get the message e: error in /sdcard/ICS333-2.0.1-signed.zip (Status 7) inall aborted
or from darky Amend scripting (update-script) is nolonger supported was deprecated by google swich to Edify scripting (update-script and update-binary) to create working update zip pakages. install aborted
So im a little lost on waht to do now.

I think you are trying to Flash an i9000 Rom on a i9001, it won't work, use only i9001 ROMS.. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1409605, like I said earlier you need to use the WIKI

Hello Xsenman,
Thanks for your help and time, I think the biggest problem that I had was that I was looking for information for the Samsung S1 and reading stuff
for the i9000, anyway with your kind help and Patience you managed to guide me in the right direction.
I have now managed to upgrade my phone to the Android 4.04 from Gingerbread 2.3.6
So thank you

root problem

im trying to install ics on my phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1613842, i follow all the step given but when trying to install it says "E: failed to verify whole-file signature" please help me..
That isn't root problem.
Why don't you edit the title, like fail to flash xxx rom.
Now, what model is your tab, running what version of Android, us it stock condition, never rooted and you tried to use stock recovery instead of CWM recovery.
You need to read a lot of things before jumping in like that.

Im getting a similar error while installing philz_touch_6.07_.9-n7000.zip on my GT-N7000. The only difference is that it is not defining my device as anything. I mean instead of it saying that this device is GT-N7000B or something else it just show inverted commas and nothing else
To be precise this :
This package is for 'galaxynote.n7000.N7000.GT-N7000' devices: this is a ''.

WHat do i do? I'm flashing a custom rom for the first time cause im bored with touchwiz now. I followed steps mentioned on the omnirom website but couldn't install twrp as recommended by them. After much reading i found that philz works for GT-N7000. Also, as per omni recommendation i have also rooted my phone using Framaroot. Im not getting this procedure of installing a custom rom at all. Im completely new to this and would really appreciate if someone can help me install the latest 4.4.2 omnirom on my galaxy note n7000. Have i done something wrong?
