Rom for LT30a Rogers phone - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

Hi all, with the help of gregbradley, i have started to make a rom for the LT30a rogers version of the xperia T. so far it's going of I just need a little help figuring out the updater script as CWM gives me an error 0.
I replaced mione with gregs from his rom and it works. I have made a few adjustments and am in the process of test it now.
So if it's something obvious maybe someone can share what causes the kitchen to not create the right updater script. I have figured out I need the amend script so hopefully my new one will work.
But my main reason for this post is, I need some help to get a flash able ftf file of the .195 kernel from the rogers ftf file in the downloads section. i found DooMLoRD's tools and it looks like you need a linux box to run the tools. My only linux box is a headless server that wont work and I'm hoping someone could create the kernel.ftf for me.
Just asking
HackitZ
As for the rom, i'm planning on removing all 8 rogers apps (if you want them you can add them back from the market), deoxed, add some other gui tweaks like the small buttons. and maybe more.

The issue with the error 0 you are having is because the updater script doesn't know what to do with a LT30a as there is no edify settings for it i believe. Take a look in the kitchens tools/edify_defs folder. There you can open the LT29i or LT22i to see what needs to be setup for LT30a though you will probably have to change the mount points to reflect the correct ones for the LT30a. Once you have that setup the updater script should work okay (obviously after you rebuild the rom)
Were you able to get a stock ftf for the .195 rogers rom? if so you can just exclude what you don't want/need when flashing it.

thanks Spectre51,
I have already figured out the error 0 and my Rom has been running smooth for 24 hours now. I just want to wait tell i can figure out how to update the kernel back to the 195 version. Hopefully someone can share a way of doing it with out linux, i have ubuntu on a HTPC and Debian on a headless server. I'm not sure if i want to go through adding linux to another machine. But I might have to in the end.
Unless there is a windows way to do it. the thread i found was here is this the right thread?

Flash just the kernel in flashtools. Did you end up creating a LT30a file for the edify_defs folder?

Also did you have any issues with wifi not turning on after you created your rom? Can't get mine working and I can't get my updater script to work either. Keep having to copy gregbradleys over to my zip once it's created. I compared the two and they aren't even close as far as what I found is put in there so I don't know what's wrong.

I'm using an older version of java on my machine so the kernel tools is not working. keeps telling me to install java. (really cant update java as it screws another app i use and need). so i'm still working to extract the kernel from the kernel.ftf file. :crying:
After a few hours reading looks like for the 2012 xperia line up we need to use some tools in Linux just came across this thread. So with a wife two boys and a full time job looks like this is being put on the back burner tell the weekend and my laptop will have to be the sacrificial machine and dual boot Linux again. all this and Christmas in two weeks.......L0L
Thanks for the help guy's.
(updater-script) If i remember correctly it was an issue about amend and not? I'll have to go back and look. Ok just remembered i had an issue with the mounts in mine.

[Q] LG Ignite (AS855) = Optimus Black = Marquee?

Alaska Communication Systems' newest offering, the LG Ignite (AS855) seems to be a device of many names.
As I seek out a ROM for this phone that will meet the "special" tethering needs of my Transformer Prime (TF201), I want to make sure that I proceed appropriately.
There seems to be next to nothing posted online about root, ROM etc for the LG Ignite.
1. Is this device identical to the LG Marquee and/or LG Optimus Black?
2. Since ROM Manager does not have a ClockworkMod Recovery for this device yet, what is the best way to safely install a custom ROM?
3. I am looking for a ROM that will provide native infrastructure WiFi broadcasting capability, any suggestions?
Here are some more specific specs:
Model Number
LG-AS855
Android Version
2.3.4
Baseband Version
AS855ZV2-M6600A-SCAUTSZ-3.0.40T
Kernel Version
2.6.35.7
[email protected] #1
Build Number
GRJ22
SW Version
AS855ZV2
HW Version
Rev 1.0
SCR Version
AS855ZV2_ACS
Looks like it's Marquee super-twin brother
it runs on CDMA right ?
Yep. ACS runs a CDMA network up here... I didn't see any Marquee resources in the XDA Developers forums... I'm trying to be a good noob and phrase the right question in the right place...
If I could find a resource for Marquee's I could explore any existing information on WiFi/BT tethering there....
I'm sure the native wireless hotspot feature would probably work just fine if I paid the $20 additional per month to activate it; but since I've been able to successfully tether several other mobiles without provider activation, I thought it was too soon to give up on the Ignite/Marquee.
The weird thing is, I am able to successfully tether any windows-based device using WiFi Tether 3.0 v.11, but it won't show up in my list of networks on the TF201... I've read a few things that say this is because ICS doesn't work with ad hoc WiFi tethering, but even when tethering to a laptop the Ignite has always given a "ad hoc connection failed" alert when tethering ... So it's not overlooking it because it is broadcasting in ad hoc...
Seems To be same as Optimus Black and Marquee
CDMA
http://www.lg.com/us/cell-phones/lg-AS855-ignite

EUROPE version GSM

But i think you need different kernel version for CDMA
I have an AS855 with a different carrier but at all specs match yours. I used SuperOneClick to root mine.
Still no custom recovery for it that I can find. Probably won't find any ROMS until there's a recovery for it. I read somewhere that the Black, Marquee and Ignite are not the same when it comes to the boot and recovery partitions.
Craptorman,
I have the same specs as well. Is yours by chance Alltel? Ive tried everything I can to root, including SuperOneClick and to no avail. SOC just stops responding? Did you do anything special?
No not Altell, just a small local telephone coop carrier. First make sure you have the USB drivers etc loaded and have ADB working. Then I ran SOC v2.3.2.0, on Advanced tab I checked "Use alternative ADB Parser", set exploit to auto and then clicked the root button.
I saw a comment on SOC website where someone with same phone and specs succesfully rooted theirs so I tried it and it worked great.
Gotcha. Finally got mine to root last night. Had to manually instal l all the drivers in device manager. I wish they would release some roms now.

LG Ignite
I have the LG Ignite, exact same phone from Alltel. I have managed to root mine with SOC, after installing drivers from LG website. My knowledge beyound rooting is very little. I havent found any luck with Rom Manager, and anytime I have ever tried to get into the Factory Reset menu / Boot Loader, or even run a Rom Back up in Rom Manager it has totally wiped my phone's Rom/app's/Data and reset it as if was brand new in the box. although Root and Super User has always remained. I thought my Ignite and the Black were the exact same phones. I do not know what is different from CDMA and GSM other than the Radio's. If I have any understanding how any this works, you have a Rom, which is aOS, then you have a Boot partition and a Radio Rom, as well as I assume the other parts are Roms or Partitions holding data.
I would appreciate if someone would break the structure of things down for me.
My understanding is that you could download ICS source, and compile it along with the kernel like any Linux OS and choose drivers based on the Factory Rom. Or use the old Drivers and incorporate them into a new OS build. and I guess use the old or factory Radio file/data. Beyond software features and changes in file system structure and support, what controls the visual appearance of the phone's software or OS? would that be the Rom?
I found some info that may help but I can't post links yet. Just google "Re: LG Marquee has CWM recovery." and the first ones that come up should be what I had found.

I think I have one ready for testing, check your PM on UPP for what else I need. Found a few answers here in this thread.
Just need to know if this phone has an internel sdcard.
Was zergrush the exploit used to root?
And an output of
Code:
cat proc/mounts
And finally, do yall have a way to restore back to stock is case of a booboo? Like a .tot and its acompanying .dll file you can flash with LGNPST?
I wish I could answer these questions to speed up the development but they are way over my head. It does have a sdcard. Where can I learn more about the kernels, dlls, and etc?

Also if anyone knows of any updates too wireless as I find I ave to run a widget to disable Power management for wireless in order t get good solid connections to all wifi access points.
Just sent Craptorman a test zip to test out.

it shouldnt esp if what has been used to root is using zergrush as the exploit.
Has anyone figured out the button combination to get into the factory recovery?
What is your test zip suppose to contain and what is it suppose todo? I have no issues rooting with superoneclick 2.2-x.x. using zerg rush as exploit.

It is a CWM Recovery for the LGAS855 (Ignite). It roots the phone using the zerg rush method and then install the CWM Recovery. This Recovery allows you to make a nandroid back of your current rom (backup of everything basically). You can also install custom roms with it. You can also restore any backups of your rom that you made.
So if you flash a custom rom and something doesn't work, you can reboot into the CWM Recovery and restore the one that does work. Normal you can boot into the CWM Recovery with a button combinatation like power-volume down. My concern is that this button combination doesn't work and we would be stuck with it rebooting and resetting the phone each time.
I may be wrong on some of this. Maybe Playfulgod can shed some more light on this.

TPT ICS NANDROID Backup (rooted w/superuser - completely virgin) and other goodies!!

Hey hey XDA! (ignore the account name, I was 13 years old when I first joined XDA in like '08)
My father bought a refurbished TPT from TigerDirect and literally nothing worked. I factory wiped it and tried to update it so I could get the cameras working and other such things - but no luck. I started to crawl my way through the internet but neither Lenovo nor anybody else seemed to have the answers. I thought that since I was failing the SHA1 hash checks that I might as well start replacing the files and see where it gets me. Five hours later:
First try to restore my ICS nandroid backup, but if not, follow the mini-guide below! Also look at the end of the post for all my files!
For those of you that can't update because you're failing assertion checks:
Root your current version with one of the root tools in my package. Go to your advanced properties and see which Lenovo internal version you're running "0089, 0075, 0060, etc". There are three toolkits that I included and they all work; use the one for your version.
Flash the Ventana CWM.
Do a nandroid restore through CWM by going to backup->restore. It's going to wipe and install a clean 0075 Honeycomb build.
Root again, the pre 0089 package should be a relatively easy root to do.
Restore the factory recovery. I have one fresh from my tablet and one that I found floating around on the internet. You could use either (the one floating around worked fine for me, but if you want something 'newer' just use mine).
Connect to a WiFi network and check for updates. This is the part where it might get tricky. Not all of the files in the 0075 build that I attached were original (it wasn't my build, not my fault). If you get an assertion check, look at your error and see which file has failed. I only had to replace three files, gps.conf, Generic.kl, and the busybox binary. This theoretically should be the same for you. Try to update without replacement, and as the updates start to fail replace the files that are causing failure. The ones you need are attached in my bundle, but I have others too - so let me know if you'll need them!
By this step you should be on the ICS update. Root using the debugfs kit (in the ICS folder for rootkits) and then flash Koshu's recovery (which only worked for me on ICS). Do a backup. Live a happy life.
This procedure isn't meant to be very 'easy'; I am just attempting to make your inconsistencies match mine so they can be fixed in the same manner. A quick Google search showed me that a lot of people are missing different files with barely any files available. Everything I have was extracted from official packages from previous versions. I think I managed to 'get lucky'.
You can find everything that you need on my website. I won't ever take this down save for a plane crashing into the datacenter where it's hosted. There are copies of all the files I mentioned in this tutorial and even copies of Lenovo's official updates since their servers go down more than Kim Kardashian.
Go to http//davidstancu.me/TPT
I'm also working on a small Android app to replace these files to the factory files (kind of like the way Windows has sfc /checknow or whatever that command is. I would also like to extend a massive thank you to everybody who made the tools that I used to get this done.
Since my account doesn't have 10 posts yet I can't post a link, so you'll have to manually include the colon. Sorry
What is your tablet version? US? ROW?
I am looking for 16 US version.

don't worry. I just created a new blank nandroid.md5 file and it took.Unfortunately, my TPT would not boot up. It just stuck at the Lenovo logo. Any suggestions to get it working?
My guess is that a file was corrupted. Try redownloading?
Thank you so much for the detailed guide and the files! My TPT came with a strangely named bladenct...0037_0001 (US) firmware so I couldn't have updated to ICS otherwise.
In other words, confirmed working for a US 16GB TPT. :good:

Thanks for the reply. I am trying to help another member get his up to ICS, and he has the same weird software version. Did you restore the nandroid or follow the mini guide?
I used the mini guide. Unlike the original poster, I found nothing broken in the stock software. The rear camera has some serious magenta artifacts on the side but that remained in ICS and CM10 so I'm guessing that's hardware damage. (This tablet seems to have been through a lot. Thus I got it at a reasonable price from ebay.)
Awesome! Thanks again for replying.

[Q] Deodexing Xperia T .489 Stock Rooted

Hey guys, I am almost ready to release my first ROM, but I have a question..
if I am not mistaken in order to flash custom mods such as status bar mods, theme's or even extra or ported apps, the ROM must be Deodexed? I have tried flashing .489 mods and get a bootloop, so my question would be:
Does anyone have any information on how to Deodex my Rom, such as a tutorial, or a script I run or a flashable zip? would greatly apreciate this!
or would anyone be able to deodex the rom for me if I provide the download link? I would prefer to learn myself, but sometimes people are too busy to take the time to guide me through it, or point me in the right direction,
You need to use dxidhas kitchen.
Just search for it on xda.
And good luck, its always nice to see new people having a go.
EDIT in response to your pm
This is the link you need
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
Also, AFAIK if you have "created" a ftf then you cannot really do much with it except swap a few files. You cannot add anything new to it so it basically remains a pure stock rom. In order to do anything like deodex, add root and cmw then you need to create a .zip using the kitchen.
Secondly, what have you done to create your .zip? What error did it give you when you tried to flash it? Have you written your own updater-script or borrowed one? Did you sign the package? Did you zipalign the apks? You cannot just take a system.sin and drop it into an archive, its a bit more complicated but the kitchen will do all these things for you.
Instal the kitchen and just follow the guide in the menu

thanks! have followed the guide to the T, but the cygyen terminal just keeps bashing every single time I start it.
also, there are no errors in my Zip when flashing. What happened when I flashed it while running our stock rom, was nothing, it still said it was on your rom, nothing changed but it said it flashed fine haha.
*EDIT- installing ubuntu now, going to use linux from now on when working on this kind of stuff.

Did you follow the pdf guide to set up the kitchen? I found it very straight forward.

Hello there

Hi all
I am Completely new at this
I just got an xperia zr as a gift and want to get it rooted
I tried searching the forums but it didn't help
I recently updated my phone via pc companion to 4.4.4
An acquaintance told me that if I use towel root, the phone will root
But that hasn't helped either
I've been searching all day for a solution
I am willing to pay the price to get my phone rooted, get rid of bloatware, move apps to sd
Any help will be highly appreciated
Regards
1. Go to Xperia ZR General forum.
2. Look carefully and see a thread named - "[GUIDE] How to root 10.5.1.A.0.283 [Locked Bootloader]". One of the top threads.
That's it. No search needed, just look. Definitely not "searching all day".

You didn't come across this, right?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-zr/help/xperia-zr-rootin-problem-t2877961
I went through the thread but am still not able to understand how it works
I downloaded doodlers easy rooting tool kit
I extracted adb files
And then runme_win.bat
The cmd.exe windows days the system can't find path specified
I've just checked the thread (and the actual thread that it points to), and in no place there was any need to run anything named runme_win.bat.
It has been a common saying across XDA-Dev board for a while, and it still stands true:
If you don't understand what you're going to do with the phone - don't do it. Read enough information until you do, and if you still don't - then leave your phone alone. Otherwise chances are you'll end up with a brick and having to pay someone else to get it back to working condition.
That's so true jack but you know Curious mind and all...
Just wanted to get my phone rooted
That's the reason why I mentioned earlier that I might as well pay some one to do it for me rather than trial and error methods
For people like me towel root was the best
But you are 1000s miles away can you suggest if since I've can root it for me
After all we need technical genius like you for your expertise
Any help would be great

Here in XDA, your best bet is yourself. Anyways, rooting 4.4.4 involves FLASHING something, if you are scared of this, just downgrade to 4.4.2 and use towelroot. (Relax, FTF errors are scarce, but you will get covered in warrenty.):good:
Thank you for the reply

1. Install flashtool and Z drivers
2. Get a 230 FW and a 283 FW, put those in \flashtool\firmwares\
2B. Only do this if you already on 283 build, flash 230 FW on flashmde, only include KERNEL.
3. Power on. You will notice bugs, ignore them.
4. Use towelroot.
5. Flash 283 FW, again only include KERNEL.
6. Power on, the bugs are now gone.
7. install superSU/superUser and update binaries.
Done and Enjoy. to get more info and (most importantly, RATIONALE), read http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-zr/general/guide-how-to-root-10-5-1-0-283-t2873841:good:

It is imperative that you go thru the entire process following the exact steps. If you encounter just ANY problem (although highly unlikely) flash the 230 FW in FULL, (including WIPE everything), And start again.:good:
Wow that really worked
Thank you so much guys

Twrp Backups not showing in recovery

before anyone says anything about using a search function let me say that i have searched every page on this site/google/youtube/ etc for an answer or fix
but anyway, so i screwed up and installed an old firmware update (mistakingly thinking it was new) and ran into a ton of issues, that after an extremely long night, i was able to fix.
i managed to load up the stock rom 4.4.2 that i had when i initially unlocked my device, and was hoping to copy over my twrp back up that i made earlier that day. when i make a twrp back up, i usually copy it to my pc to save phone space, and i tried to copy it back, and i put it in the backup folder, and although i can find it in file manager, i cant recover it. looking at the folder it looks like every other backup ive ever made, i have no idea why it wont show. i got a flasher app "Rashr" and it doesnt recognize it as a recovery folder either. does something need to be different? when i tried the twrp app, it selected all the typical boot img etc things but then says that it has to restart and when it does the twrp recovery still doesnt recognize it.
help ideas?
im still actively working it and if anyone finds anything that'll be wonderful thanks
I was helping you yesterday no?
I think what happened when you flashed a 4.1.2 you changed the file structure.
4.2.x and above handle things differently.
If you look in data/media/0/twrp you should find your backup.
I would still suggest running the latest RUU and starting fresh and it will give you the correct file structure.

back when 4.1.2 was live, guys flashed to 4.2, and it messed up the file structure, if they went back to 4.1.2, (if I remember correctly)this would fix the file structure.

I thought maybe he could flash back to 4.1.2 then flash this, then back up his sdcard to computer then go on to 4.2. or above delete his sdcard on 4.2 or above then restore it from computer, just my thoughts on it.

yeah, your probably right, just thought I'd throw it out there.
i managed to use the files i used to root my phone to restore my phone back to a usable state. im not exactly sure if its RUU but my phone is basically back to where it was almost 5 months ago, luckily i had did an htc backup about 3 weeks ago, so i didnt quite lose every thing. its back to 4.4.2. im not exactly sure if my issue is making sense.
i have a back up i made on twrp, i cut and paste it to my desktop. when i put it in my twrp backup folder, its treated as if its not there. i can physically search for it and find it within the folder. is there a certain way that backups are made? i just made a backup of my device today, and it created a seperate FAxxxxxxxxx folder, im gonna try and put it in there to see if it helps any, but at this point im thinking i should give up and admit a lost cause.
my devce works, and thanks BD for all the help you gave!! seriously wouldve gone crazy without it.lol

You must have ran the RUU file. Once you run the RUU file and you have to unlock everything using the HTC DEV method then yes, you will loose everything because the RUU file will bring your phone as it was coming out of the store.
