I tried to install some leaked JB custom roms such as Ultimate, SVA, or Rocket rom. In my opinion, JB battery drains faster than ICS custom rom.
why? kernel issue?
I also tried Jelly bam and slim bean 4.1.2. Those roms have better battery life.
Screen on time is only 3 hours on JB custom rom as the same usage, and ICS or AOSP JB rom have more than 4 hours screen on.
I do not have other android devices. Basically Jelly bean is worse than ICS on battery life? How about galaxy nexus between JB and ICS?
I hope official Jelly bean update will be fixed this battery issue by Samsung.

i have xxlsa and 4 hrs of screen on time. it will take some time to settle down... also check for wakelocks and apps that drinks the juice
Most JB leaks have a media scanner issue with large folders, it keeps running in the background draining your battery at high CPU load
Try to go into Settings -- Applications -- running and stop media scanner and see if the problem resolves
if it did, download a free app from play store 'rescan media' to stop media scanner and enable it on demand.. However, new media (pics and music) will not appear on the gallery or the music player if u didn't run the media scanner first (Provided you have rescan media disabling media scanner)
Best of luck

Agreed.
Also look into disabling Google Now if you aren't using it. That's also a major cause of battery drainage. My battery life increased by a decent margin after I disabled media scan and google now!
Also disable location stuff like GPS and the other ones that help my battery a lot

I agree the battery drains faster with the JB leaks. Confirmed with every ROM I tested, however it's not that much compared to Samsung ICS ROMs. What really helped me is JuiceDefender Ultimate customizing the settings so it turns off the radios and limits the CPU clock when the screen is off, besides other things. But when you are actively using it, there's not much you can do.
try alliance beta 1.1 LSC it gives me 4.5 hrs on moderate use ...

Also, when I look at battery history, "Other Usage" it shows Running (95%) but I had the screen off and no other app running other than music player. Should this be shown as running or should it be partial wake?
In Partial Wake Usage, music player is the highest too.
I am running Serendipity 6.4 with Speedmod k13e kernel.

Is the majority / any of your music on the external SD? Reading from external constantly will drain your battery much quicker than from the internal, AFAIK
Its on internal card. But can you please tell me in Battery History "Other usage" , should music player count towards Running or not?
I'm running ICS and this problem has never happened before. For some unknown reason I've noticed that media storage is always running in the background making the CPU run at max clock all the time, which is killing my battery.
I think it might be unable to scan everything for some reason as quite alot of my photos are missing from my gallery.
Clearing the data of media storage stops it running, but I lose all the photos from the gallery and all notifications. I can use an app called Scanmedia to get all the notifications back, and only some of the photos for some reason. But media storage continues to run in background draining my battery.
Like I said earlier I think it might be a scanning bug. Unable to scan all media, so it doesn't stop scanning. That's just my guess though.
How can I fix this?
I deleted all .nomedia files on my sd card. It hasn't fixed the problem...

Its because you have .nomedia files on some large folders that the media scanner will be busy checking them till its finished, so deleting them will only make it worse.
I think the only way to permanently fix the problem is by re-flashing the rom from scratch.
I managed to find a reasonably good fix anyway. I installed startup manager and disabled storage media. Which only disables the media scanner service and keeps the rest of it running, which is needed for downloading apps from the Play Store, etc.
I also installed QuickPic to be able to find/view all my images and videos. Thanks to the media scanner bug the default gallery could only find a small selection of my images.
What ROM you on cause I had that on ICS 4.0.3

and in wake lock there is one RIJP somethig running please if some 1 can helpout???
plz i love this rom alot but hate this battery issue i have searched alot and cant find answers plz help out people
Be more specific. You're on Jellybean right? It's your media scanner that's pegging your CPU at full speed. Download Rescan media root from the play store and disable media scanner.
Search next time.

Today we have a super stable ICS and a nearly stable JB but why in a heck do people still use and cook GB and Froyo ROMS? I've even seen Eclair phones gingerbread is slow and the 3D driver is terrible. I wanted to test and went back to cm7 and played asphalt 6 and it was laggy as heck! It only gave up to 10fps! Not good, plus it shows a wrong radio bar cause when I have one bar and want to call, a message pops up saying I have no signal. So guys can you explain to me why most people still running GB and below?

Because: Samsung camera, music player, messaging app, contacts with slide function, memo etc. I'm still running GB only because I like the Touchwiz apps, and of course I'd upgrade to ICS/JB if they were possible to function..

But they do function! They're better than GB in many ways! Speed and stability and memory management are the key concepts.

maybe some people prefer stock features. Many people say samsung camera takes better photos (driver?), and I myself miss the stock music player even when I've been using ics and jb... and we still don't have any FM radio now

The stock music player is stupid because it doesn't have a filtering feature thus it plays every music file (ringtones, alarms, recordings etc.) And that's annoying.

there are heaps of pretty reliable GB roms, the battery life also seems to be better but probably due to less CPU usage.
I wish to use my old HTC One as a full fledged music player. Only as Music and occasionally video player and GPS device for my car. How can I customize the OS so that it consumes least of battery life? I dont want any of the apps to consume battery as I will not use any apps on it. So how can I go ahead and removing the battery hungry things? Any suggestions to max out the battery?
I love my HTC One. Its one of best handsets I own. But because of stupid service that they provide which couldnt replace the broken camera because they cannot get spare parts :/ and when mouthpiece gave up, I had to retire it.

Are you rooted, unlocked and have custom recovery?
If yes then you could install a light weight ROM like cyanogenmod and then don't install gapps (gapps are battery hungry). I suggest cyanogenmod because it comes in with a file manager application and audio fx which is a decent equalizer also there is a neat feature called music visualizer should come in handy since you'll use it as a music player. Then what you could do next is install android apks of the apps you want, unfortunately you won't be able to use google apps because you won't have google services but, you can install pretty much any other app.
This is the website I download apps from http://www.apkmirror.com/
Once the app is downloaded you can move it to your phone via usb if you didn't download it directly on your phone. I recommend to have all the apk's on the Downloads folder for easy access. Then on your htc one m7 click on the apk file and it should prompt you to install it (make sure to go to security in settings and enable "Unknown sources") A ROM with no gapps should give you good battery life. Also if by video player you mean Youtube you can always install a browser to view youtube videos from a browser or just use the browser that cyanogenmod brings.
You can also check out this thread for tips to maximize the battery http://forum.xda-developers.com/android/general/guide-extreme-battery-life-t3095884 Of course I don't think that you would be able to redeem any purchasing of the apps listed. What you could do though is purchase the apps from the google play store and then use titanium backup to back them up. Then restore them once you flashed cyanogenmod and installed titanium backup through the method I described before . Should work as i have restored paid apps such as Nova Laucher Prime without installing gapps. However, this didn't work for Riptide GP2 so I am not sure about greenify and amplify. Still don't worry about it too much since again no gapps equals immediately better battery and also happiness of knowing google is not spying on you as much
I know this a long read but, I hoped this has helped you in your usage of your Htc One M7. M7 rocks still using mine and is running perfectly for me for an almost 3 year old device.
