[REQ] Note II Case with Lanyard hole / loop - Galaxy Note II Accessories

I've been searching tirelessly for over a week now for a Note II case with cutouts for a lanyard. I've used one on pretty much all of my devices and it really helps with preventing drops.
I've ordered several cases (for other devices) from Cruzerlite, and some of them have had the cut outs. But it doesn't look like the Note II versions have it. Yes, I could totally punch my own holes.. but it's always better if they do the punching before hand.. with machines (or laser beams).
I see the official samsung one has a spot for it. I'm looking for something slimmer though-- that one looks bulky, unless I'm crazy. Any cases that you guys/gals have ordered that have lanyard holes?
I currently have the Body Glove case from T-Mobile, and have run the lanyard thru the top, but it looks funny and leaves a gap in between the case and the screen (it's also loose).
To make this thread less useless, I'll post pics in the OP if you guys have any-- for anyone else on a similar quest.
FYI.. lanyard kinda looks like this:

Zenus Prestige Neo Vintage perhaps? You even get a cool strap with the case.
See here

Rearth slim case has a lanyard hole in the lower left corner. $10.

i think you're crazy. you can't get much slimmer than the official samsung case without losing protection/exposing more of the phone. I currently use the thicker Speck Candyshell that I drilled 2 small holes into. I also have the samsung case, but I felt it didn't offer enough protection.

SUCH A GOOD IDEA with the velcro finger slots! OMG how did you make that?

I generally will sacrifice extra protection for slimness (wut), given the whole phone is covered. I like the reearth case, but don't like the exposed parts. That's cool tho - I was actually hoping I was crazy, and you've sold me on the Samsung one .

You could try to slip the lanyard through the speaker grille with or without a case.

But I guess you do get a small kickstand.
IMO, not worth $30
This is the first I have ever heard of "FlyGrip"
and from the looks of it, it seems like it would be a pain.
And not a pain thats worth $30...
.. however, it seems as though they donate profits(?)
I'd rather just help by sending a donation then to have that thing attached to my phone.. :/

If you actually looked at some videos you'd see its pretty small and in-genius, its far from a pain in the ass..actually looks like its quick and easy just need practice. That velcro finger slots thing looks like a pain in the ass and super tacky. $30 is a lot and it should be like $20 max but w.e.

I stopped using the lazy hands because it is tacky looking. it functions really well, but the form is terrible. so it depends if you value function>form or form>function. i think the fly grip is too expensive for what it is. I'm sure its a great product, but I'd rather spend $20 or less. The TPU case they include is of no value to me.

I want a flygrip but their site say the small and medium sizes are don't work well with the Note2 as a kickstand. They are working on a fix in future builds. It looks great and kills 2 birds with one stone (kickstand and one-handed security).
Anyways, I think all phones should have holes for wrist straps like the good ol' Sony Ericsson w810i walkman phones. It's like they want us to drop our phones in the gutter.

In the video, the fly grip really did look kind of difficult to open. Now, if the fly grip people and the Velcro finger people mated, and made something flush with the back of a case, that'd be cool.

30 to protect your 700 dollar phone without worry is worth it to me. It isn't hard to open or use and fits the note 2 fine. They give you a free tpu fitted case with purchase.

Thin, snug silicone cover

Can anyone recommend a thin and snug silicone cover that does not cover up all the buttons (at least not on the front)?
I just need something to take the edge of if I were to drop it, without adding too much bulk or hanging loose.
So far best choices seem to be boxwave or the one expansys will get, but haven't tried either:
http://www.boxwave.com/products/flexiskin/flexiskin-htc-magic_3484.htm
http://www.expansys.com/d.aspx?i=182306
actually this doesn't look too bad either:
http://www.boxwave.com/products/purecrystalslip/htc-magic-pure-crystal-slip-case_3484.htm
Has anyone bought one of these? Just curious if it's actually a hard case and if so how you can slip it on and keep a tight fit

thats pretty slick looking, Looks to me though to maybe be a combination of a hard case (the back) and silicone (the sides).. Definitely looks good regardless..
I have this
I have the HTC branded silicone case and it not very snug but it was all I could get. It was the only choice for me.

seems a little thick on the top side. I was looking for something very thin, like the ones for blackberry curve if you've seen them, very slim, very tight and blends in well with it
Been shopping around till my myTouch arrives but has anybody try the Plastic resin type?

looks likes its snug and better than the silicone ones. check out the video at around 5:05 for the magic
They look quite good actually, quite thin. I've just ordered a blue one and a clear one. Only cost £5.50 all in to get it to the UK. Will leave a review when they turn up.
I am currently using one of the clear silicone cases from ebay, they are ok but they add a bit of bulk to the phone which I don't like.

Yeah I was thinking of getting a black one but I've seen our (HTC Magic) phone with a black silicone case on it and it looks really weird. Like too much black on that nice white body, doesn't look good.
Think clear and blue look quite cool tho.

its almost like the one I posted on ebay but without the design and you get 5pcs instead of 1 now the only thing in question is quality and how snug it is.
Anyone that gets any of these please let us know how it is
I am not usually a huge fan of cases because I hate the bulk they add...but if there is a SUPER thing one (pref soft not hard) I would def be interested

Right they turned up today, took probably 7 days I think to get from Japan to London, so pretty good.
First thing I asked for Clear and Blue cases. I got clear and black. Those funny Japanese folk probably couldn't read my VERY CLEAR ENGLISH.
Anyways first thing you notice is that they feel a lot tougher then the standard silicone ones you get off ebay (I was using a clear silicone case from ebay) the japanese ones are very tough, but still durable, they fit my magic a lot more tightly the the bog standard silicone ones.
Second thing I notice is how much more grip it gives you, much better then the silicone ones.
Thirdly and perhaps most importantly is the fact that YES they are thinner then the sillicone ones which seem to add a bit of un-wanted bulk to the magic. This new case must add barely 1mm to the unit.
I haven't quite worked out if I like the pattern that seems to be on the case, the black case looks ok but I really wanted the blue one! SO i'm going to email them now and see if they reply, doubt they will though.
lastly the provide you with a couple of 'free' screen protectors. These are actually the best ones i've used! They really are fantastic, they fit the screen perfectly, are perfectly clear, no bubbles and you can't even tell they are on there! And it doesn't affect the use of the screen at all, I mean it's still ultra sensitive when swiping your finger etc. Very happy with these!
All in all I like these cases and think for the price, especially considering how good the screen protectors are (worked out at about £7 inc shipping to UK) it's a pretty good deal.
Doesn't mean I won't be looking for another case tho
But until I fall in love with one, this will be the one I use.
Hey thanks for the review I actually ordered the 5pack they have for $20 I just hope they don't make a mistake on the colors. I ordered 2 clear(for me ) and 1 of each pink, blue, purple(for my wife)
but then after i bought it i found this ebay which is a little bit cheaper and had a diff design but who know maybe its the same quality. I might try those out as well

Case-Mate Barely There Droid 3 Case Review

I have recent come from an HTC Droid Incredible and got the Droid 3 for $200 off someone on Craigslist which was awesome. Of course, I had to get a case for it but I didn't want something thick and wanted something thin.
Of the brand name case makers, Case-Mate seemed to be the answer I was looking for with their Barely There line. I could've gone with Mobi but they did not seem as well known and for about $5 more I could get peace of mind. I got mine for about $16 on Amazon.
Case fit is very good. It is snug and not loose.
The material is that "faux rubbery hard case" material, not unlike the material that the Droid 3 battery cover is made of. Of course the back of the case (which I forgot to take a picture of, sorry!) looks very sleek with the Case-Mate logo.
I haven't dropped it (-knocks on wood-) so I can't say how well it'd hold up but it looks like it'll probably hold up as well as any other case made of the same material. It doesn't have the silicone inner layer like the Trident and Otterbox cases so not as much shock absorption, but it will definitely protect against minor drops and bumps and keep scratches off your phone.

I do have one gripe with the case, however...
Some of the tabs rub against the case. In other words, I feel like the case doesn't slide as smoothly with the case on and there's some resistance. Has anybody else experienced this?
That really bothers me I was wondering if any of the other cases didn't have any rubbing at all and/or if that is even possible with this type of phone? Or if anyone has any other case suggestions?
Thanks Hope this review was helpful!
UPDATE: I e-mailed Case-Mate's support services and they claim that this is not "normal" and they may send me a replacement so we'll see.
Yesterday, I thought about what kind of case will protect this phone and allow using keyboard too, of course a 2 piece case! Nicely executed, but looks ugly =/.
As for being able to use the keyboard, this case does not hinder it in my opinion and I think it looks okay. However, the Qmadix case I don't like. I think THAT looks ugly lol.
I'm considering just a skin and maybe no case. I've always had cases but figure this would be a good chance to try something different. Maybe Skinomi? Any suggestions?

I use a skinomi wooden skin. Looks fantastic, has held up for a couple months with no problem. Only issue is there isn't a piece that works for the side right underneath the capacitative buttons, cause of the funny curve, but it really doesn't look bad. I would recommend highly

True...
I just ordered the clear TechSkin from Skinomi for the Droid 3 yesterday for around $15. So we'll see I guess. I'm a little nervous about the whole wet-everything-then-try-to-stick-it-on thing as I've never tried anything with a wet application before.
Did you happen to se if the Droid fit in the Car and/or multimedia docks while the Case Mate was attached? I"m still searching for a good quality case that serves that function.. without some of the more drastic modifications i've seen posted on other threads.
I had a case like this on my 1st d3. The tabs rubbed on the phone and made it a little harder to slide, but I thought that was "normal" About 3 weeks ago my backlight started going in and out when I slid the keyboard, to the point where I couldnt get it to turn on. Got a warranty replacement, and bought an otterbox commuter case. 20 bucks, but the slider glides without issue and I'm not seeing any marks where it rubs.
TL DR Cases like this that cause the slider to not glide as smoothly may cause your backlight/screen to die

It is a little bigger but thats because it kinda sits in 2 cases (the slicon layer and the hard shell), but its not a ton bigger. The slider works though as if there is no case even on it, which makes me feel a lot more comfortable having it in the case. I wish it was a little gripier though

I ended up getting this case and I can report that it works with both the car and home docks...
i hae the otter case , which slides smooth, offer great protection, but it is really bulky,
i was thinking of getting another case, but i am now thinking of getting skins,
since skins offer nice protection and keep the phone slim,
got to love how it is the thinest android with keyboard
Anyone know if this case slides better than the OEM one from verizon? Ive had it on since day 1 and its wearing away the finish along where the rail slides and I hardly use the keyboard. It's also bulky, and the rubber texture of the case makes taking it out of the pocket a pain if you wear pants that fit. lol

luckyexpress168 - Ultra Thin Slim Pu Case - quick review and pics.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/15088047618.../sch/i.html?_sacat=0&_nkw=150880476182&_rdc=1
I ordered the case on 20th August and it arrived yesterday 31st so not bad from HK to the UK signed for delivery.
The case is very slim, in one of the pics I've included a 5 pence piece for comparison, the case is almost exactly the same thickness as the coin at about 18mm closed.
It looks very smart and the chrome strip for the magnetic closure looks better than I'd expected. The case section is hard plastic like many others and has a soft neoprene style backing to it. The N7 clips in very securely (I've yet to figure out how to get it out again...) and is protected all round. All the cutouts are in the right place and nicely bevelled, the on/off switch and vol controls have their own cutouts which makes finding them easier than my previous case,
In the open stand position the nap of the cloth interior holds the N7 at the angle you want, nice touch. No auto on/off magnet, but that's just a lazy mans gimmick anyway and doesn't bother me as long as the switch is easy to get to. You can see in the second picture the speaker grill and the PU material the 'hinge' strap is made from, because of the way it's made there's a bit of rotational play to the cover when closed but not too much, time will tell if that increases or not.

Is it possible to fold the cover back completely, how does it look?
Yes it is possible, the cover folds back flat and stays flat without any pressure.
even cheaper
Found a cheaper one from the ausies for $13.4 - http://www.ebay.com/itm/ULTRA-SLIM-...ccessories&hash=item46078371f9#ht_6402wt_1194
It comes without the metallic Nexus7 part, I prefer this version.
I'd like to hear the OP thinks based on the photos, is this the same product or a cheaper/inferior replica?

Looks pretty much the same, except without the chrome strip as you say. the magnet is built in to the case so I assume there must be some metal strip in the cover to keep it shut. Auction doesn't give any details though.

hhmm, maybe that's why it's cheaper? or maybe there is a metal insert inside the cover that connects with the magnet.
I just got mine in today and I actually like it a lot. It has a nice soft leather feeling in hand and the plastic back feels quite sturdy. The tablet really clicks into the back solidly, it actually takes some work to remove it from the case. The construction is pretty nice, it has the felt on the inside of the lid and the plastic, the cutouts are nice (especially the separate power button) and the magnet holds it closed firmly.
The downsides are minor, the lid is a little oversized and doesn't lock into place when closed. It can wiggle and twist around some. Other then that it looks nice and feels nice, it compliments my bulkier Portenzo case well
I've found a good use for the chrome N7 strip, I bought an Appldea Maglus stylus and it has a strong magnet in it which holds it onto the metal very securely.

Confirmed: There is no magnet in this cheaper version.
Is anyone concerned about that metal strip contacting the screen and scratching it? Looks like a nice case though. Thanks for the review and pics.

No. the magnet in the base is slightly raised so the chrome strip does not come into contact with the screen when closed. Use a screen protector anyway, they are so cheap it's daft not to.

I have this case as well, though I haven't written a review on it. My recommendation: DO NOT BUY.
First off, the biggest miss in this case is no sleep/wake magnet. On top of that, its difficult using the case as a stand for the tablet. Although the cover looks and feels good (almost like leather), $20 is way too expensive for something that is lacking a smart-cover feature, a mechanism to use it as a stand, and fake leather.

I have to disagree, Asus/Google very kindly provided us with an on/off button and I don't mind using it, I don't need a 2 cent magnet to do the job for me. I've also not had any problem using the case as a stand when I've wanted to, as explained above the nap of the cloth interior holds it nicely for me.
$20 is at the top of the cheaper end of the range but it's hardly bank robbery, I've bought a number of cheaper cases and all of them do the job to a greater or lesser extent but all of them look cheap compared to this one.
Each to their own though, ymmv etc. the world would be a dull place if we all thought the same.

Review: Seidio Active Combo with Kickstand

Bigger pictures on my blog.
http://chrismchoi.blogspot.com/2012/11/review-seidio-active-combo-note-ii.html
Seidio has done it again! Seidio is well known for their line of high quality cases.
They are well known for their Surface and Covert cases. They also just released the OBEX system that protects the phone from water, dust, snow, sand, mud and other liquids.
What we are reviewing today is their Active Combo with Metal Kickstand. It's the perfect case for active lifestyles without adding unnecessary bulk while maintaining maximum protection. It's dual-layered with an inside layer of polymer for grip and an outer hard shell for impact protection.

The rubber like polymer does not attract as much dust as the lower end cases. This is a true premium feature I have always favored from Seidio. The hard shell also had their signature rubberized feel. Both items of the dual-layer system have a premium feel and are soft to the touch.
The kickstand has a little magnet that holds it in. The finish is great and stable. It's a solid case.
The spring holster is the holster we've all come to know and love. They carried over the rugged design with all their holsters. It features excellent retention and will not snap on you like other holsters. It features an adjustable swivel clip that will rotate a fluid 360 degrees.
The Seidio Active Combo is only $54.95.
The Seidio Active Case is available as a stand alone product for $34.95.
The Seidio Active Holster is available separately for $29.95.
Conclusion:
Highly recommended. Another Seidio product that will gain much popularity due to quality and function.
I have yet to be let down by Seidio's products as they have always been in my top 3 case companies. I always wait for Seidio to offer me a solution.
I will also be working on a video review for this case. Keep an eye out for it. I'll post a link when it's finished.
Hit thanks if you got something from this review! Means I'm doing something right and I'll keep doing them.
What is the overall fit, and finish of the combo? Any gaps, or uneven lines?
Been waiting for a review of one of these! Thanks
I am waiting for mine to arrive. Its in blue. Spent days and days sifting threw china cases and landed on this. I have had Seidio in the past and was very happy with it. I can also post a few pics here if its ok with the OP to add to the thread. Thanks for the review .

Fit and finish is great. I've personally never had an issue with the Seidio Actives. Had all the different colors on my Evo, Epic and 3D. Might just grab one for the S3 now. It's a snug fit and the cuts are nice and even. There is no play or any gaps.

I don't mind at all. It's a community here. We all share here.
Great review, Much appreciated. I'm hoping that for your video review, you could focus on things like the durability of the stand, strength of the magnet that holds it in, lint attracting ability of the rubber inside layer, and general thickness/size comparison.
Just some ideas; I look forward to it.

Good points. I'll be sure to note that down.
The OBEX case is simply an Otterbox.

No. Otterbox cases are not waterproof, they are water resistant.
They are not dust proof or sealed into the case. Dust infiltrates the phone inside the case. OBEX is a sealed solution. The Commuter is comparable to the Active.
The Defender to the Covert. I feel the Covert is far superior as it's a 3 layer design and absorbs more shock than any Otterbox.
Thanks for your thoughtful insight. It was truly a game changer.
I want to order one but the shipping prices to the Netherlands are ridiculous man. 28 frigging dollars!
Even with the current exchange rates, that price is just insane adding up to the case itself .
Is it really worth it?
I say yes, just because I don't like TPU cases. You don't have to go through the case being so tight fitting that it takes the battery cover off when you remove the case.
All of mine have held up. The polymer never wore out or got sticky. Maybe get a local seller to get a hold of them? Maybe someone here can get one and ship it to you.
Thank you for posting a review on this. I'm waiting to see what other cases get released from the name brand manufacturers and hopefully we will see some sales to come over the next month or two.
Could you possibly take a picture with the phone out of the case along with the case laying beside the phone to see how much bulk/thickness is added with the case?
Thank you much.
I'm interested in just the case.Is it ideal for pocket carry or does it add too much bulk?
Excellent time for the review! I am planning to place an order and yes, I am thankful for your review!

I haven't noticed anything yet.
Nice Review and Pics. The active combo and the surface combo are now available on Android Central at a pretty good discount compared with Seidio's website. Might save you a few bucks if you are interested.
What are the advantages of that case over something like this
http://www.ebay.com/itm/For-SAMSUNG...399354?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item416e4cc5ba
And its for the fraction of that price

It adds 2mm. You shouldn't notice it. With the size of the Note, if you do notice it you need a smaller phone. Lol.

What I've learned with anything I buy, buy the tried and true the first time around. You'll buy that one, then replace it with a nicer one. I've been through this with every phone, car and personal items I buy. The stand just looks horrible. It's a cheap shortcut to designing a stand system.
The holster is hard to use. Looks just like the one in store. I always end up using 2 hands. Seidio has a much stronger clip system.

MYBAT Jolt Case mini review - amazing case for only $6

I'm not that great at prose. Bullet points for all of you!
Bought from here. Also comes in white and red.
Notes:
The great big DANGER sticker and Big Scary Laser sticker is something I bought separately.
Pros:
It's 6 freaking dollars!
Does not feel cheap
Volume/power buttons retain their 'click'
Reasonable protection
High lip for drop protection
Lip does not impede touching the edge of the screen
Stand actually useful (comfortable angle)
Slippery enough to slide into my pocket, grippy enough to comfortably stay on a table
Does not attract fingerprints at all
Fit is very tight, phone absolutely won't come out on its own
Feels comfortably rugged but not ridiculously so
Would not be afraid to drop the phone whilst in the case
Cons:
Volume/power buttons have very little definition on the case, very easy to accidentally press volume down whilst holding the phone
Stylus cutout could be a tad bigger
Larger headphone connectors may not fit
Larger microUSB connectors may not fit
Can be a little fiddly to get the phone out of the case due to tight fit
Neutral:
Stand only has one angle (I like it for the simplicity, but each to their own)
Stand feels a little flimsy (I don't think it will break unless someone smacks the phone down whilst standing)
No dust covers on the jacks (I personally like this as I hate having to remove dust covers when I want to plug anything in)
Wrapup:
For $6 shipped I couldn't be happier.
Unless I find something hugely better or the otterbox commuter drops in price by $20, I'm sticking with this.

I've got the same case, modded it to use with my flip cover and it works great. With the flip cover on I can fold it back and prop the stand on it or it lays flat in front like a keyboard on a laptop. The only problem I have with it is the kickstand is a bit flimsy.

I put the flip cover on, then put the case on and marked it just 1mm-2mm from the top and bottom of the flip cover then removed the case and cut it down to the little groove along the back edge, then cut along the groove. Afterwards I sanded the back edge with 200-1800 grit sand paper and it looks factory finished now.

Monty, i found one exact replica of the Otterbox Commuter for $5 and mod it to have a thin kickstand.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2153383
I spliced in the kickstand from a $9 TPU casing. The point is it's more protected from drops & has a functional stand without the $70 cost from where I come from.

I just received my uag scout case and then I see this thread. Blast. The uag case is nice. Fit is not a hundred percent but protection feels good. What it is, is not worth 39 that I paid for it. This case looks like it would offer similar level of protection to the uag case. Anybody compared the two? Might get it to cutout the back to allow for better charging wen I finally get around to performing the induction charging mod.

I'll post pictures on the phone soon, either tonight if I can get decent pics with my wifes photon on weds when I get home and have my 2nd note I can put the case on and take pics

The only thing to be careful with on this case is the inside edges are pretty sharp, at least on mine, and scuff up the edges of the phone. The reason I don't use it on my new note.

Sorry, but in terms of quality these are in a different category. Two months ago I said to myself after getting a handful of ebay cases - hey they all cost as much as one of the premium one. Then, I compared it to those from UAG, Case-Mate, and Otterbox - and the quality and fitment of ebay cases was pale in comparison. They will offer a similar level of protection, I will not deny that. But you will see how brittle plastic material is, how hard to push volume/power buttons, how flimsy and stretchy silicone inserts, how poorly inner/outer shells interconnect, how flimsy kickstand is, the silicone/plastic gets a blue shade from your jeans pocket, and how poor some of the port openings are. Regarding price of UAG - that's expected when a brand new product is released and there is such a high demand for it, thanks to a great reputation of their S3 cases.
Here's pics of it on the phone itself
