Hello All
Does anybody know if I could still root/unlock bootloader after the phone is encrypted?
Or has anybody encrypted it after unlocking/rooting?
Thanks

Well, I encrypted after unlock the bootloader and root. However I don't know if I could have any problem because of that in the future.

Im not sure what the advantages is to unlock the bootloader then obtain root, now as there is a way to root without unlocking bootloader..
can anybody elaborate?? obvious advantage is that sony cant disclaim warranty issues with a locked bootloader.
i would also like to know this

So read under android development
At a guess unlocked boot loader will allow installation of custom roms
Root will allow running software that requires root like root explorer

Are there any ROMs worth installing yet? I feel like its a lot of bloatware that I dont need are installed with it so it would be nice to clean it
i think everybody that even visits xda know what root is, but unlocking BL vs locked prior to root?
if it`s only the custom roms that cant be installed I`m keeping mine locked and just gonna root. im quite happy with the stock rom.

You can install stock based ROMs with a locked bootloader, as long as you stick to Sony's kernel.

I picked up an HTC One that turns out has had the bootloader relocked. Is there anything special I need to know or do to unlock it and root again? I've previously used qbking77's method of unlocking the bootloader. Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey all, I am having an Xperia Z C6603. Wondering if there is anyway of unlocking the bootloader and keeping all the data I currently have.
I have already rooted my phone and installed TWRP. Still using stock ROM
Any help or advice is appreciated.
Thank you.
Follow sonys unlock guide where you get you unlock code from using the command prompt way, just remember to take ta backup

First time you unlock, no. It is not posible to keep your DATA partition.
Subsequents tries using flashtools, it will not erase anything.
So the solution is to make a NANDROID backup, unlock the bootloader, and then restore back

Hi, My first Motorola device so I'm unsure what I'm doing here. I've only had HTC devices, is the process the same? I want to have root to use sixaxis. Can I just unlock through Motorola, push a recovery and flash superuser? I'm on Sprint after the camera update but I'm not sure if that matters since I'm willing to unlock the bootloader.
Thanks!
Yes same process.

I was wondering if after using the unlock code on my phone, does that mean that the bootloader is no longer locked and that I can flash recovery? Any help would be appreciated, thanks.
What do you mean by unlock code?

That unlock code just unlocks your Sim. Not your BL

NO. Not the same, as stated above. The unlock code is for using any SIM card in that phone. The bootloader is totally different. Your bootloader is still locked. You will need to root the phone then install safestrap if you want custom ROM's.
