Hello everyone, I would like to take the time to say that this is my first post, as normally any queery I have a simple search of the site or google would produce a result. Please take the time to read the WHOLE of the following post as there are already similar topics but not exactly the same symptoms showing all at once.
I have a Experia E15i, the phone came with generic (world) software and has only ever been on a stock rom.
The complaint is that when you turn the phone on the post (Sony ericson) comes up as if it were booting, then the screen goes out (including back light) but you can press the menu button and press apps in the app drawer and feel the feedback via the vibrator.
Now I have read a couple of threads on various sites saying that there is a hardware issue and reference to a new screen has been made.
HOWEVER this is where this phone differs when you go in to 'my computer' it shows up as a CD drive and a flash drive (the sd card) but you can't access the 'cd drive' as it asks you to "insert disk".
Now I have done the following thing to try and rectify.
First of all I used the SE "pc companion" and used the 'repair' function and still the exact same problem exists.
Secondly I installed the new 015 baseband (and matched it with the stock 2.1.1.A.0.6 and then did a reboot, the phone still shows up as this fault.
Thirdly I downgraded the baseband to the older one for 2.0.2.A.0.24, and still it stays the same.
I have also done a B.I.T.E test and it seems that the display is U/S I have been able to mirror another phone and the display does not work, so it seems that the screen can't cope with displaying the OS, but when you charge the phone the screen works perfectly.
I have got a hold of all the diagrams required to tracing the system and will update tomorrow when I wake up. But it still doesn't explain the CD drive phenomenon.
I have been in the phone to see if I can see any obvious signs of damage the only signs I can see is on the top side (with the heat shielding) the top left and chip (can't remember it's name) as a slight marking on the outer coating, now normally this would not cause any issues with the chip, unless it has cracked underneath, but then if it had the whole phone wouldn't work, as I believe it to be the rom chip. I have been in there with the appropriate alcohol based cleaner and cleaned it up as best I can with out de-soldering the heat shield.
The only reason I am holding back on buying a new screen is that I can't see how it can be a physical screen error as the controller clearly works (other wise SE wouldn't show) and I can't see how that would effect the fact it is now showing it's a cd drive.
Now if anyone can shed any light on this issue, or combined issues I would be very grateful.
First morning tests
In reply to my own post for clarity, there is stby power present on the correct pin and there is stby return on the correct pin, I am also seeing a date out put in the pins aswell, so it seem to be that the screen in U/S which is good news, as they are easy enough to come by, however it would be nice to find the wiring diagram for the screen (I know sony don't make them and they are a peripheral item) and they are a disposable item so why would they bother, but for the sake of one chip being to blame it would be a lot cheaper for me to replace the chip than the whole screen/display.
As for the phone been seen as a Cd drive, I have still yet to work this out, however the screen is wired in from the second NAND CHIP N1500 [MSM7227/-MDDI] VIA R7000 and R7001 which is where the bootloader is held (this phone is 11w12 and appears to be an unlocked bootloader; could this be clashing with something inside the N1500 and N2400 NAND Chips?) or is it just changing how the pc sees the chipset and assigns a cd drive label to it?
Well I shall order a new screen and keep you all posted how it goes. In the mean time if any one can help then please let me know

just now (like 2 hours ago) my newly fixed PC bluescreened. (something about my network drivers (NVNRM.SYS)
I reboot, graphics card posts and..... reboot. (endless loop)
so, with computing coursework due in tomorrow i grab my hard drive and, with his permission slot it into my dad's computer (the only other one with sata). and turn it on.
Same result, his pc (which he runs a business with) is going through the same loop as mine, i try unpluging the hard drive, but it still does the same.
basically now i have no coursework for tomorrow, a broken PC, my dads business pc broken AND im gunna get it in the neck from my parents...
maybe ill see you in a few weeks when i get the netz back....
over and out.
Yep..
It's caused by the Nvidea hardware firewall chip in your mobo.. specifically nVidia Network Access Manager driver (if your get a bad call on nvnrm, then you definately have it install even if you didn't know.)
If you can boot in to safe mode either reinstall the software for your mobo chipset, and/or disable it.
It's very common (the nvidea chip doesn't and has NEVER worked properly from conception) and with vista here, things are even worse.
If you can't boot into safe mode you are SOL.
And the fact that it's happening even with an HDD transfer means that it's probably done something to your main disc sectors, which also happens.
On you dad's pc, remove the HDD, boot in safe and disable the nvidea chipset.. this might get it back.. on yours.. safe mode reinstall and reinsert.
Post back on your progress.
dude neither machine can even post (and yeh we had the network access manager on, it seemed quite good, untill i changed the frame size on my ethernet and it bluescreened...)
See if you can manually disable it using something like BartPE or a Knoppix livecd.
it wont post, so no chance.
Can you go into the CMOS setup?
I mean, can you press "DEL" (or F1, ESC, or whatever works with your motherboard) to get into the setup? Then, check if anything is wrong, may be, reset to default values?
I think you cannot, because if I understood well, your computer doesn't even ends with the POST.
Then, you might have one out of two problems, you damaged your bios in some way (have you considered that you might have had a virus and that it damaged your bios?), bios is now saved in EEPROMS, normally actual ones are rewritten directly with nothing more than 5 volts, just by special commands (that allows you to upgrade your bios with nothing else than a program, that's something you can do!).
The other situation involves a defective "primary" component in the motherboard or attached to it and absolutely necessary to it's basic fuctions -according to your actual system setup-, so, POST can halt also for a defective lan card, video card, etc. Today's POSTs normally let you know what's wrong, back in the old days, post could be "heard" by a series of beeps (that you might still hear with your MoBo), also, back on those days, there where POST card readers, that "captured" the current post test code and showed it, then you could use a post table (those got wildly different from each other as technology evolved) to find out the problem.
Now, most computer components are so cheap and most people know "something" about computers, so "repairing" was performed almost by anyone.
I'm not old, neither young, but, I can give you two ways of going out of this situation (if you haven't do so yet).
Easier one:
go and grab yourself a couple od motherboards (one for you and one for your dad), change them, and you're done.
Harder one:
See if you can repair/reinstallate your bios, go the mother board's maker site, download whatever you need and try.
Hope it helps and good luck
Hi . I'm going to replace my vox for TyTn 2 (!) . I need to know , what I need to check if i want to avoid sending phone to services (I think Construction , some problems like bad joystick ... ) ?
i purchased my kaiser brand new in may 2008...so you will probably get better advice from those that have gotten refurbished or second hand units.
anyway, heres a list of items you might want to check (based on my own observations as well as based on the readings/reports of various issues i've read about here on the forum):
1. hardware keys should work 100%. some users buying off ebay, for example, report that the phone works and the FRONT buttons work but the slide out keyboard is shot. just an example, it could be the other way around. but the point is to check and make sure each and every button works.
2. usb connector should work 100%. best way to check is to see if the phone can establish an activesync connection (with a known working cable) and if the orange charging LED lights up. next, hook up a wired headset (that is known to work correctly) to see if the pins for the audio signals are functioning on the usb connector. long press the button on the wired headset to see if the device starts to dial the last number dialed.
3. look out for "dead pixels". there should be NONE. because the kaiser has a relatively low resolution screen with less pixel density, i don't think it is acceptable for there to be ANY dead pixel at all because even one can become an eye sore. a quick way to check is to bring up an all-black screen and see if all the pixels are black. next, bring up an all-white screen and see if all pixels have turned white. also remember that sometimes dead pixels come and go. i've had TWO dead pixels during my ownership of the kaiser. one went away as soon as i flicked the device from the side and it never came back. another one lasted for a week and had me quite worried because it happened after my warranty period was over. i tried "dead pixel 'sweepers'" and maybe they helped because that particular dead pixel also eventually went away after a week and never reappeared.
4. scratches on the camera lens. note that the kaiser has a plastic lens "cover" on the back cover of the device. this part is known to get easily scratched and i don't think it is reasonable to be anal about this part. HOWEVER, if you take the back cover OFF, then the actual camera lens underneath the back cover should be spotless. check BOTH cameras to see if they work and can capture decent images (test the main camera with the back cover OFF to get better results).
5. the slide mechanism should be relatively "solid". look for distortions on the image displayed on the screen as you slide. ensure that the sim remains detectable when the keyboard is slid out. ensure that the front buttons work when the keyboard is slid out. ensure that the microsd card slot continues to work when the keyboard is slid out. all of the above mentioned items are connected to the main motherboard via "ribbon cables" (hidden underneath the sliding mechanism) and sliding out the keyboard can cause faulty ribbon cables to act up. look out for that!
6. make sure the status/notification LEDs work. read the WIKI/manual for information about the normal/expected behavior of the LEDs.
7. the earpiece should work. the loudspeaker should work. the microphone should work.
8. the touch screen should work! try out bubblebreaker so that you can check the responsiveness of the screen across its entire surface. recalibrate the screen if you have to. remember, the kaiser's touch screen can occasionally be a bit fussy if a screen protector is present.
9. look for obvious scratches/damage to the screen and body. try to see if the damage really matters to you (as an eyesore) or to the device (can it affect the device's normal functioning?).
10. check the water exposure stickers under the battery to make sure they have not turned a pinkish color. if they are pink, there is a chance that the device was exposed to some amount (or a lot of) water in the past. while you're at it, check the battery contacts for corrosion (might cause power issues later) and check the battery compartment for any signs that a previous battery may have leaked (extremely unlikely). who knows, maybe the owner had it properly serviced after the water exposure so no harm in asking. if properly serviced at the right time after water exposure, there have been many success stories here on the forum of the device continuing its normal functioning.
ummm thats about it from my side, hope this helps!
TYVM ... i have this phone ... I'm really exited . I'm going to do Hard SPL tomorrow ... I want some good rom ... so what is fast ... and have that D3D driver ??
congratulations!
i answered your original question because it was a bit of a unique question.
but your second question about "which ROM is good and fast" cannot be answered by anyone except for YOURSELF. go ahead and explore the Kaiser ROM Development Section. read about some of the ROMs that seem to interest you. try out a few of them and see what you like and dislike. good luck!
OK ... can you tell me ... what does thet D3D driver ??? and why 101 MB ram and D3D not working together ???
And one more thing ... i try ANYTHING but i cannot set up android and run it .... And also I don't know how to make that default.txt
And can you explain me this ??? : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qL8uq4FtduY

How about you do some searching and explain it yourself or post in threads related to your topic.
ASCIIker isn't your personal guide through this site.
So its been about a year and half since I received this phone for my birthday, and from this moment on, I am 90% sure that these companies design these phones to fall apart after a while so you buy a new one.
Please to not be intimidated by the length of the problems, I really doent want to waste a $600 nice phone. Please help.....
List of problems:
So on one random day, while I was using my phone with EnergyROM sense 6.1 (Not even 6.5 (Windows 6.5.5)) the phone stopped rotating when I flipped the keyboard, as in the screen will not rotate when I try to use the keyboard. The touch screen also becomes uncalibrated, and even when I recalibrate it, it still acts very funky (have to click lower than button or higher, depending on its mood). I did absolutely nothing different with my phone that day, but I did not call my phone dead right away, so I decided to update the ROM with the latest sense 6.5 ROM to see if the OS is corrupt or over-cached. This did not fix the problem.
Also, another very weird thing is the phone's screen will illuminate (I guess backlight), but no picture will show when turned on after sleep mode, and I have to click the top button again to sleep and awake it to get a picture. When flipped, the screen doesn't even fully illuminate, and literally dies down to a black screen (half of the pixels are bright, and then it just fails).
Any help would be very appreciated. What I am thinking of is wiping the phone 100%, and not even leaving a rom on it. I heard there is a command that deletes the junk off your phone from a previous ROM to your updated ROM is clutter free. Any other suggestions?
Edit: I hard reset my phone, and nothing is fixed; I still cannot flip screen into landscape mode.
The "command" you are talking about is called "task 29", look for it in the ROM section.
It sounds like hardware problems, i've had mine for about 1 year and a half as well and no problems besides a couple of scratches.
The flex cable connecting LCD and board might be out of order.... I had the same issue.

Yeah I heard about that problem. I will first task 29 it, but are there any guides to take apart and fix the flex cable, or even just unplugging it and plugging it back in?
Also, what did you do with your broken phone? Did you buy a new one or get it fixed?
Thanks for the feed back both of you.
my X1 also aged same as yours and it still runs flawlessly now. so it might depends on how you used and keep it
as for the "wiping off the phone" its called task 29, and is encouraged to do before you flash a new ROM, have you did it before flashing energyROM?

No, but I just did now, but it seems to be a hardware problem because nothing seems to be working properly still. This is some serious BS because I am very over protected with this phone, just to prevent stuff like this to happen. I have never dropped it ONCE, and it seemed to just wear out by itself. The lenses covering the camera is cracked also, and the screen is all screwed up, and I didnt do absolutely nothing abusive to it, I am 110% sure of this.
Any suggestions on how to fix hardware/ ribbon connected to the screen problem?
Order a new cable and replace it.
If you search on Youtube for the video on how to disassemble x1 there is a complete guide that shows you. Its pretty easy and all you need to do is, take the flex cable out and carefully plug it back in. Then carefully put your X1 back together and hopefully you issue will be fixed. If it still persist, then try and get the flex cable changed.
Hey Xda,
I'm certainly not a newbie to flashing/modding but this one puzzles me quite a bit:
Today I got a Galaxy Note from a good friend of mine, the device is still running on stock ROM and has never been rooted.
When I try to boot up the device you'll hear the usual boot sound and after a while the softkeys backlights will light up, while the screen won't. My friend reported to me that he had issues in the past connecting the device to any given windows PC, as they won't even recognize the device. I however can't verify this as I'm using arch Linux on almost all of my workstations.
The main objectives are:
- backing up the entire internal storage, because my friend produces music and there are lots of samples/unfinished tracks on this device
-eventually get this device working again.
The main problem is deciding whether the device has defective hardware or just somehow screwed up firmware.
The gameplan so far is backing the device up via adb if nothing else is working and then reflash the whole damn thing, if there is still no improvement I guess the hardware is to blame.
Any constructive advices on your end? It would be much appreciated as this seems to be a fairly common problem. Anyways I'll keep you up to date
Are there any touch haptic responses on the screen? Then this could be an issue of corrupt or wrong bootloader installed.
Try booting into recovery and/or download mode.
And check for a battery icon while charging and off.
A problem with the boot loader on stock android without even root sounds unlikely.
If the screen stays black, i thinks its very likely that the connector from the display came loose.
lucky you, the note is not that hard to take apart, and the connection should snap back in no problem. In fact, i think that should be stap one, check the connection.
About connecting to the pc, that could be more difficult. From the description i think the usb board is in need of replacement. Also a relatively common, cheap and easy fix, but make sure you get the same revision as the one you have now.
---------- Post added at 02:05 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:49 AM ----------
Another idea would be to connect an mhl cable and use that to see what should be on the screen. This depends on the usb port being fine, but may be worth trying anyway.
So for the purpose of continuity I'll post any useful links I used along the way.
At first I'll back the device up. This will be no problem as adb works just fine on my Linux box with this device. The next step would be trying this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25202942&postcount=7
If that does not work I'm assuming defective hardware/or bad connection due to dust. I'll disassemble the device like this:
http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=N6CJy7...kZ4-Yg&usg=AFQjCNGp378LsVHTIBkf62THSVDqsWM7uQ
And clean up the connector/ribbon plug with isopropyl alcohol
I managed to reset my old account so I'll be posting from this one, not to cause any confusion...
if you are getting charging animation
or galaxy note logo on bootup
then you need to flash an alternate kernel or reflash original
else forsure there's something went wrong with your hardware
this is huawei.
P8 lite.
ALE-L21.
Alice model, of 2015.
I think it's a part of "what it has been given to me"
in a way, where andro5 has been replaced by ungoogled lineage14(andro7)
but software even a bit crappy is not the culprit here.
Culprit is, well, yes there is to be a culprit in this situation
phone is locked, 4G/LTE working well, low than 6°C outside.
the culprit is not the software ; not the ambient temperature.
Culprit is the hardware, where even with the "backcase", I mean,
the stock backcase, the one you remove only to change the battery,
branded huawei, clipped to the phone. Even with that one removed,
so that means you can see the electronics components at the rear of
the device, because the "standard backcase" in transparent plastic
is transparent, even with only two milimeters of thing plastic, it..
overheat. And that's the overheating the most impressive for mobile
brands.
It reminds me the overheating problem crossed on large number of hp
large public laptops, solt with amd/nvidia, where air conditionning is
a total disaster, whom comes easily to what IT nerds (including me), calls
the artefacts problem, where a "reballing" process have to be done,
except if you prefer doing it with a common heat (I dont encourage it,
regarding the toxic criteria of those raw materials, if you use the oven
to eat then..), it might work for few months anyway.
But here, it's not really the screen in the graphical part of the issue :
the screen shows something anyway, the display is on ; the thing is,
the touchscreen, in the tactical part of it, is totally "dynamited" by
the hot (or cold) part of the hardware. I dont know why. It's a mystery :
on several lineageos, but obviously on the stock android ROM, it have
this effect. That means some part of the hardware is a bad quality (even
very bad), where it makes, when temperature is near zero degrees (celcius)
or even after running a bit, with phone in your pocket, in a twenty'degrees
(still celcius) common summer, well the touchscreen is so excited that..
it send data, like if you where touching your phone, everytime, in all senses.
that's why I really dont like this model (not only, see ABC mark follow..]
so that's the effect of the touchscreen issue, I let you enjoy this

in addition:
A/ wifi problems : sometimes, when I airplane mode or just turn off wifi, it's just impossible to get it on again, I have to completely restart the phone. I don't do anything specific, except Im out of rang or just turn it off from menu or airplane mode. But very often it can't be turned on back if I don't reboot the phone
B/ power, restart..
1 of 10 attempts of just shutdown the phone by using the button then menu works. 9 of 10 attemps it's ust shows the "shutting down" screen forever, last time it took 2 hours of "shutting down" but did not. Had to salvage restart it by holding ten seconds the power button.
Btw, if the P8Lite running LOS14 is plugged in USB, just know that it cant stay powered of for a long times, after ten minutes lineageos just power on automatically, even if you dont touch the phone
Btw the only way to poweroff the phone is to restart it (powerof button almost never works), then at encryption-unlocking code screen to power it off normally, but if you let it on the usb cable it will automatically poweron back after a while.
C/ unlock screen problems :
sometimes when the phone is on and locked, I just try to enter my PIN. numbers works. Then to validate. Then it freeze. Then it's very funny to see that it's doing nothing anymore, that only emergency button and dialpad for unlocking works but not the validate code button one : and even if the button of number works, it doesnt mark them on the PIN code field! As for the wifi problem, the only way to solve this looks like to poweroff and reboot the phone..
D/ just see few days ago the camera works, front and rear, but can't record videos..
In addition, just know I use on daily life twilight to get my eyes in a better way..dunno if it can cause issues.
