Error 255 - RAZR i Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I've just received my new Razr i yesterday. I've unlock the bootloader, rooted it and instal CWM 6.0.1.9.
My problem is under the CWM, as soon as I want to install a .zip I've always this message : "E: Error in /external_sd/ ... .zip (Status 255) Installation aborted"
Has anyone the same problem or a solution to solve this problem ?
Thank you

Take the update-binary from any of your working RAZR i flashable zip (or an OTA update.zip) and drag and drop into the zip you are trying to flash.
255 means binary not compatible pretty much.
ARM update-binary won't work on x86 device
This is not development by the way.

Please provide any such binary that worked for you i replaced with few i know but could not get rid of status 255 error for same device

I tried this and error 255 did not appear again. Though, it did still say 'installation aborted' without saying why.

"Installation aborted" while installing stock roms

I installed omar rom with breeze, but now every rom I threw to cwm fails to install with error "Installation aborted". I'm not sure if it's related to omar rom since I did not install any other roms before. This is part of log from clockworkmod/recovery.log:
Code:
- Installing: /sdcard/clockwormod/backup/CFC_9.8.2i-50_SMI-26S7-USASMIJBRTEU.xml.zip
Finding update package...
I:Update location: /sdcard/clockwormod/backup/CFC_9.8.2i-50_SMI-26S7-USASMIJBRTEU.xml.zip
I:using /data/media for /sdcard/clockwormod/backup/CFC_9.8.2i-50_SMI-26S7-USASMIJBRTEU.xml.zip
Opening update package...

Installation aborted.
result was NULL, message is: assert failed: install_zip("/sdcard/clockwormod/backup/CFC_9.8.2i-50_SMI-26S7-USASMIJBRTEU.xml.zip")
I:using /data/media for /sdcard.
Notice: there can be typos in this log since i rewritten it manually from phone screen.
I tried dozen of roms from sbf.droid-developers.org/smi/list.php , there is no way of corrupt download. My method of installing is following:
Download rom from sbf.droid-developers.org/smi/list.php
Put it to somewhere in phone (in this example case I put it in /clockwormod/backup/)
Boot to cwm recovery
choose "install zip from sdcard"
choose "choose zip from sdcard"
and of course browsing to correct folder and choosing correct rom file
These files are zipped files witch have to be unzipped and flashed via RSD-Lite
via RazR I & Tapatalk 4
Yes that was it, thanks. Is there a way to do it in linux though? sbf_flash requires .sbf file which is not available in razr i zipped roms.

do we have to unzipped the stock rom files before flashing, can we flash the zip files. I'm worried about this, i flashed the *.sbf file for my previous phones, never flashed the *.zip

I don't think it would be a problem with the updater-script, but on the other hand, you could try changing recoveries. Honestly, I wouldn't think this is the problem; I've flashed just about everything using different recoveries, and the only time I've had problems is with what @peter-k posted.
Then again, it's not like you're flashing a ROM or replacing system files, so you could always copy the files manually with Root Explorer and correct permission.
Also, since your problem is at a permission level, you might just have to fix permission (Root Explorer).
Open a terminal emulator (or ADB) and type:
Code:
su
Fly-On
That should tell you if it's installed or not, regardless of the error you got in recovery.
Maybe you'd want to try with the RC1, instead of the Beta version. I just flashed it and got no errors (CWM 6.0.5.0), although both updater scripts are identical except for the "delete("/system/etc/init.d/03kill_media_server");" line.
What ROM are you on?

Well then don't flash it, copy the files manually and set permissions manually, there aren't that many files.
Files in /system/etc/rngd and /data/Fly-On should be assigned to user/group: root/shell, permissions: rwxrwxrwx.
Every other file should have user/group set to: root/root, and same permissions as before.

Seems to be an issue with TWRP itself. Search for either a newer version or a different version of TWRP.

Huawei GT3 ROM Help [NO OS]

Hi, I saw some threads saying some stuff about the Huawei GT3, but they didnt helped me so Im posting this thread.
I have a huge Problem with my phone.
(Im a Newbie btw)
I wanted to root my phone so I installed TWRP and rebooted (TWRP works btw), now it said "Encryption unsuccessfull"
I looked up on YouTube to look how to fix this and ended up deleting my complete OS
Now I downloaded the Firmware of my Phone and looked how to install it with TWRP and ADB.
When I try to install the "update.zip" File with TWRP it says something like this :
[2017-11-14 08:00:21 623] E:unknown command [errno]
dload_format_userdata,line=527: dload_format_userdata ok!
script aborted: update_huawei_pkg_from_ota_zip: update package from zip failed
update_huawei_pkg_from_ota_zip: update package from zip failed
Updater process ended with ERROR: 7
I:Legacy property environment disabled.
I:Install took 0 second(s).
Error installing zip file '/data/update.zip'
I also tried to delete the "assert" parts in the updater-script file but it also didnt work.
Now I heard about the "dload" Method but I have some questions about that
1. Where is the dload folder exactly
2. When I try to move the folder cointaining the "update.zip" to as expample root It says not enough space on device (which Is not true) or something like this :
Running command: 'mv "/data/update.zip" "/root"'
mv: write error: No space left on device
mv "/data/update.zip" "/root" process ended with ERROR: 1
Do I maybe have the wrong ROM or something?
Please help me . (or try )
Check the dload guide in my signature. You will know everything. Let me know if any questions or doubts, will help. Dont worry twrp error is normal as these zips shouldn't be flashed with twrp

Wipe/format system, data, cache and dalvik patition but the same error 7 always appears. And yes... I Have and updated firmware (032)
I don't think you need format anything. You only need Mount system manually on TWRP. That's it

This error can be for many reasons different. Searching in Google this error says that it is because the ZIP file specifies another device name, but this is not my case

Have you tried nikesh's 3.2.1 TWRP? This happened to me when I installed an early TWRP for when this device was a few months old and tried to install RR 6.0.0
