I installed omar rom with breeze, but now every rom I threw to cwm fails to install with error "Installation aborted". I'm not sure if it's related to omar rom since I did not install any other roms before. This is part of log from clockworkmod/recovery.log:
Code:

Notice: there can be typos in this log since i rewritten it manually from phone screen.
I tried dozen of roms from sbf.droid-developers.org/smi/list.php , there is no way of corrupt download. My method of installing is following:
Download rom from sbf.droid-developers.org/smi/list.php
Put it to somewhere in phone (in this example case I put it in /clockwormod/backup/)
Boot to cwm recovery
choose "install zip from sdcard"
choose "choose zip from sdcard"
and of course browsing to correct folder and choosing correct rom file
These files are zipped files witch have to be unzipped and flashed via RSD-Lite
via RazR I & Tapatalk 4
Yes that was it, thanks. Is there a way to do it in linux though? sbf_flash requires .sbf file which is not available in razr i zipped roms.

I am currently running Stock JVH with Fugumod kernel 3.8. My problem is that I am unable to install ANY .zip file from CWM. I have tried supercurios hacked kernel also, but I got the same error:
Chose install zip from SD card:
Finding update package...
Opening update package...
E:Can't open /sdcard/XXXXXXXXXX.zip
(bad)
Installation aborted.
I have redownloaded every rom I have tried to flash several times, in case it was corrupted or something, also reflashed stock rom via Heimdall twice, nothing has worked. I have been using custom roms via cwm and heimdall for months, this has never happened before.
What could be the problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, not sure if it's possible but maybe your data cable is corrupting the files during transfer. I have had this message before and it was due to the file being corrupted. If you try and open the .zip file on your computer you can see if it is corrupted (if it opens it isn't).
Suppose away of testing if the data cable is corrupting your files during transfer would be to try and open the .zip file on your phone using thinkfree office or something similar. Again if it opens then it is not corrupted and I have no other thoughts.
I'm kinda stuck now. Ever since I installed cm7 rc5.3 I cannot install from sd card - anything. It cannot open any file when I try to install an update and only message is (BAD) Installation Aborted. Therefore when I tried to install rc5.4 I couldn't!
I don't want to flash through odin again cos thats the whole point of not having to wipe data etc on this new rom (hopefully). Before anyone asks, yes I have tried to unmount and unmount sd card and also toggled signature verification etc etc

You know whether this works or not, its a fantastic idea. I will try and let you know!
Well flashed cwm 4 through odin with no results, however I think I already had cwm 4 anyway cos couldn't install cwm 5 because of same installation problem. However now it has allowed me to install cwm 5 and after reboot recovery still this same message with rc5.4
Code:
Finding update package. . .
Opening update package. . .
E: Can't open /sdcard/update-cm-7.2-RC5.4-GalaxyMini-Release-signed.zip(bad)
Installation aborted
I'm gonna try and redownload. Perhaps the download waas corrupted halfway through. I tried through a different sd card and still no results.
Edit* Think I've found the problem. I knew something was up as soon as I visited the download page. The 2 file sizes were completely different so something happened with the first download of rc5.4 so hopefully now (fingers crossed) everything should be fine! =)
Edit2* However it's not all fine. When I downloaded, it only downloaded 95.2mb instead of 95.3mb and the last time it downloaded it only downloaded 33.9mb. Does anyone have the full file perhaps they can upload elsewhere?? Please, I've been waiting a week to flash this =(
so i think cwm is not responsible for the error the problem is you have not downloaded the package properly
ok to find the problem delete maket, youtube app and try to flash gapps package after mounting system and data if the package get installed then cwm is ok. and redownload the package

Kilobyte differences may not mean a file is corrupted. Try comparing the checksums of the file with software like this:

your idea of checking md5sum is good but donot unestimate a single kb suppose if the update binary is not there then cwm will not install the package
On sammobile these days a few OTA files are available, one like this. Can anybody help how to use this .zip file. The contents of the file are,
1. debug_info (1KB)
2. delta.hidden (856KB)
3. delta.modem (1KB)
4. delta.platform (78396KB)
5. delta.Sbl (1280KB
6. delta.ua (241KB)
7. delta.zImage (4855KB)
FYI these files are not Recovery or CWM flashables.
Above file is an update of firmware to N7000DDLR8 from the previous firmware DDLR6 for indian GalaxyNote. As one can see it includes the firmware files, so be assured that it can be installed. But How???

you can try to rename the file to update.zip and then choose update from recovery. Dont know if this will help but its worth a try.
It gives a signature verification error not sure just renaming it to update.zip would fix it!

You should be on complete stock ROM
non rooted and on unsafe kernel then may it work, and thats is the point to be concern. This work with unsafe kernel as well update also contains unsafe kernel, so anything lead to messing your device, that will be risky to wipe anything. and in this situation you have to first flash safe kernel.
Mobile odin pro added support for flashing OTA files, but unfortunately didn't recognise OTA files which available for india. (this fuction in mobile odin is still on experiments)
struggling to get the same working , but in vain ...
Please tell me i download the bin file from the following site. how i install this

using this method:
All Credits to tracid
1. Copy all files from the archive to /cache/fota/ or /data/fota if you have bigger ota
/cache folder is only 192 MB
use root explorer
2. from adb shell:
su
chmod -R 0777 /cache (optional)
echo -n "--install_fota" > /cache/recovery/command
exit
adb reboot recovery
doc.. i tried that last time with the DDLR9 update and i was stuck in boot loop.
Really I didn't tried yet, it was said by tracid somewhere.

Hi,
I've just received my new Razr i yesterday. I've unlock the bootloader, rooted it and instal CWM 6.0.1.9.
My problem is under the CWM, as soon as I want to install a .zip I've always this message : "E: Error in /external_sd/ ... .zip (Status 255) Installation aborted"
Has anyone the same problem or a solution to solve this problem ?
Thank you

Take the update-binary from any of your working RAZR i flashable zip (or an OTA update.zip) and drag and drop into the zip you are trying to flash.
255 means binary not compatible pretty much.
ARM update-binary won't work on x86 device
This is not development by the way.

Hello,
First of all, my version was l19c185b385
I wanted to install marshmallow instead of nougat because of Xposed. Anyway, I didn't want to use rollback package (I didn't know that I can't install marshmallow like that) so, I just opened TWRP and then I removed everything even the system. Now, I can't install MM it always gives me the error "sparse flash write failure" in fastboot; however, when I installed b385 it finished the installation. In addition, I can't install anything for MM like recovery and twrp.
At the moment I can access only to trwp, fastboot, erecovery and dload (although it never works for me :crying
PS: I have tried to install rollback package via dload but it said it isn't compatible and stopped at 5%

Try to flash firmware as zip file via twrp.
Are you able to mount/unmount /system in twrp?

Look for a dload folder on your internal storage, there could be another folder something with "hw" in the name but i dont know anymore what i like to say there are maybe leftovers from an OTA or something like this just delete any folder with zip files in it.
Maybe you have the wrong Rollback package.
The Rollback package from the second link in my signature works on EVAL09 and EVAL19.
