I am running Stock ICS 4.0.4 Kernel-DDLRB(INDIA). I want to flash paranoid 4.1.2 ROM. I am really confused where to start from! I have heard of hard brick cases,so m worried I won't repeat the same.. Please help me where to start from? Should I first flash kernel or root or something else?
Please help!! I don't want to brick my phone .Else my elder brother would hang me to death.
I have googled a lot but didn't got success.

Please be a bit more detailed the next time you describe a problem. You should at least give some exact information about what rom you have flashed and how you did it...
I suggest you to read the following and then do a clean flash via odin when you have gained some basic knowledge:

[GUIDE] [Flashing ROMs] Step-by-step
Hi sorry for my late answer. I read all posts for noobs and ive discovered that my phone was boot looping. I flashed the original firmware with odin. Then the basic recovery mod all with odin. After that ive rooted the phone and flashed the New twrp touch recovery mod. Then I flashed a kernel compatible with 4.4.2. And the New rom. O only Can flash the mokee 4.42 and not others I dont know why. But phone is runnig well. Ive even installed the Galaxy w drivers compatible with our phone.

Can someone write a proper guide how to revert back from ICS to GB with CF kernel and without CF kernel?
Thanks

Prior to flashing GB, donot wipe data using stock or cwm recovery on ICS.
Do not use touch recovery to flash GB rom.
Do not restore GB backup from ICS.
Flash GB firmware with PC odin.
If you are stuck in bootloop or there are FCs after flashing GB, don't panic, just wipe data/factory.

Hello guys.
The very same thing like to OP happened to me today in the morning. After reading the warning about ICS bugs I decided to revert to GB through PC Odin. And the result is same .... stuck in factoryfs.img and not able to access recovery ...just download mode. Unfortunately I stopped reading at page 7 or so ..... need to leave the computer right now. If there are any thoughts to help us, please reply .... thanks in advance.
P.S. It looks like MoBo replacement is required, right?

hi...
who is the best GB or custom?
Hi Guys! so first of all, i'm not a total newbie and i have been searching the forum and been googling like crazy trying to figure this out and now i have to turn to you hoping to solve this...
okay, i have rooted my girlfriends SGS I9000 with superoneclick root, got superuser and all is well there, but i still only get android recovery no CWM..? So whats up with that? do i download latest CWM and just flash it using android recovery? or is this a faulty root and i must try something else?
Read somewhere i had to flash a new kernel to get CWM?
Any help from you guys would be highly appreciated!
Why dont u try using odin??
Cheers
If I Helped, dont mind Hitting the Thanks button...
You have to choose one of the available recoverys for i9000 and flash one of these via Odin

The easiest way to root it is to download and flash 2.3.6 jw5 (if not present) using Odin and flash cf-root kernel, you'll get the cwm recovery too.
Thanks for reply
i will unroot the phone again and root using odin and cf root... i am going to install custom ROM straight after, so i am not going to update to 2.3.6 from 2.3.3...
*update*
Worked like a charm! now i have CWM... First time i used Odin actually and it is MUCH faster than this oneclickroots out there! So thank you all for the help.
My apologies for the noob situation (new to Android tho a veteran iphone jailbreaker) but I did try my best reading lots of threads to seek the exact info I need:
Things I've done:
1) I got my N7000 with stock ICS 4.0.4 (Kernel: ZSLPM) yesterday
2) I followed some online resources in my local language forums and used both CWM.zip and SU-busybox-installer.zip to "root" the phone
3) I then started researching for ways to flash to JB rom but found out info regarding possible bricking hazard with stock ICS kernel and CWM.zip
appreciate if anyone could point me the safe way to :
either
1) Remove the CMW.zip and Su-Busybox-installer.zip to unroot the device and make it back to virgin state? so I can start everything over again and follow Dr. Ketan guides for rooting with safe kernel (I read we could flash the unstaller but that also need to put me back to Recovery, safe to do this under CWM.zip?)
OR
2) how could I flash my current setup (rooted already with CWM.zip) with a safe kernel ?
Thanks very much for any guidance.
Regards,
Anthony

So you mean after I root my N7000 with CWM.zip and SU-busybox-installer.zip I have actually already flashed my kernel and rom in the phone already? I thought I have only rooted it but the kernel and rom are still untouched? please advise and thanks for responding.

You can go to Settongs>>About Phone & under "Kernel version" you will be able to see which kernel you are using (for ex: my Note shows HydraCore_v5.34 which is a custom kernel).
So, if you are still on Stock (i.e., un-safe kernel), use PC Odin & flash custom kernel (use Dr. Ketan's guide). Make sure *NOT* to wipe/factory reset when you are on stock kernel. In case if you want to unroot, then also you have Dr. Ketan's guide in the same post.
Start using thanks button rather than posting thanks.
Even if u r on stock rom and stock kernal to unroot flash them back using odin

CWM.zip is a tenp recovery.. it doesnot stay in the system after reboot. thou su-busybox stays... but if the phone has booted up that means u have root access now...
just install the philz kernel from here for ur rom. this is a safe kernel and u will be able to do wipes. this kernel can be flashed from stock recovery.

Thanks for the advice.
Things are all good now after I got stuck with my first attempt flashing to Abyss which I later found out it doesn't support ICS then I flashed it to Hydracore then after that flash it to RocketROm and I'm now one happy user

Next time do not use CWM zip to root your phone. Use Dr Ketan's method of rooting, because its dangerous.

Hello guys,
So I just downloaded the leaked official JB ROM for my N7000 and flashed it successfully via Odin (I came from the latest CM10 Nightly build).
After that I wanted to flash the latest Hydracore to have my phone rooted, but apparently it comes in .zip format only.
Since I'm not rooted and I don't have CWM now, how can I get to flash Hydracore via PC Odin?
Hope someone has the answer for this, as the internet is just full of bullocks all websites are describing the same non working procedure....
Thanks all

latest jb leak does not work with hydracore. If you want to root use philz kernel zip file and install using stock recovery.

Thanks much
will do so... I already flashed Hydracore and now I'm stuck @ Samsung's logo
Hopefully I won't face such issues again

Well, I've downloaded both v3.65 .zip files (XXLSA and XXLS7) and tried flashing them through CWM which was already on the device.
After rebooting either, it goes into a black screen after the initial boot screen (Galaxy Note GT-N7000).
Bear in mind I had already flashed Hydracore before that...
Any helpers as to what I'm doing wrong?
Should I reflash the stock ROM via PC Odin then flash Philz kernel via stock recovery?
Thanks in advance
P.S. I know I messed up big time
As what my friend nokia said. Hydracore is not compatible with jb leaks rom.
I m not so sure which kernel u r now, since u stuck at boot logo.
And I don't want to decide too fast that u have bricked ur phone.
Just try to flash the firmware again through odin. If u can, and can boot up, try to flash philz kernel from stock recovery.

That's what I'm thinking and doing now, wish me luck
I've also downloaded xxlsa to have 4.1.2 .. according to online tutorials I should flash cf-root via odin, then flash the rom via CWM .. any thoughts?
[Update - 1] phone is ok, re-flashed the stock firmware via PC Odin and it is working now, no problem! tried flashing cf-root, got stuck at the yellow triangle screen and nothing happens ... so I reflashed the stock rom again.
will try now to flash cf-root then boot into recovery, i just might be lucky
[Update - 2] upgraded to JB 4.1.2 successfully and rooted!
So which kernel are you using? and which Jelly bean?
