Hi,
I'm running CM9 nightly and have had this problem for a while.
I listen to internet radio and online podcasts a lot and wanted to be able to move the Touchpad around the house soI bought a Logitech Bluetooth Adapter which streams audio from the Touchpad to my sound system via bluetooth.
The problem is I getting very frequent and random stutters in sound, just for a fraction of a second.
I've read that it may be a problem a lot of people have with ICS in general but not entirely sure.
Could anyone please shed some light onto this and suggest a fix?
Thanks
Anyone?
have you been able to isolate whether or not it is in fact the bluetooth connection, the app that you are using to stream the podcasts, or the internet/wifi connection?
so have you tried the bluetooth speaker with different audio sources or music player/apps?
have you tried the same podcast app with a regular headset or built in speakers while moving around the house?
does this only happen in certain spots?
does this only happen when you turn the screen/display of the touchpad off?
give some detail on what youve tried already.
Thanks for replying

Happens when using Tunein Radio via wifi, podcasts using Beyondpod and streaming music from my PC.

Yes. No problems when I switch to WebOS on the Touchpad and stream via bluetooth, using the WebOS version of Tunein Radio.

Built in speakers - no issues. Connected to my amplifier using a 3.5mm cable in the headphone socket - again no problems with audio.

No. Happens if I'm next to the router or in another room.

I've tried updating to the latest nightly CM9 builds. Also yesterday I flashed Fat 'n Creamy ROM but I still get the same problem.

Can anyone with a N7 and 4.2 confirm my issue?
I'm using the N7 everday to stream music from TuneIn, Google Music and Spotify to stream to my Bluetooth speakers. I never had issues with Android 4.1, but since 4.2 it's stuttering every few seconds. Especially when the content gets streamed over wifi and is not stored on the N7. To go sure that it's not just my wifi I tried it with my GNex and 4.1 and there I don't have this issue.

Yes, I believe all Nexus 7's will be affected, too. Check out this Google Code bugreport:
http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=39633
I am highly disappointed in Google for this. This is a HUGE use-case for me, and it has essentially made my $150 headphones worthless, as well as essentially ruined my use of the Nexus 7 in public, as I cannot listen to music/videos at a public shop/location with the BT headset/headphones that I always have with me. Wired headphones? Ick.
Yes, I've created that issue in the bug tracker. Please star it if you've the same issue. I'm now thinking of going back to 4.1 since I used this feature daily.

I did star it, haha. Small world, I suppose. Did you see this too: http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=39632
Very similar to what happens on my N7 on the odd few seconds I have uninterrupted BT audio output. WTF does Google keep doing with their BT stack? This is ridiculous. It is affected BOTH of their flagship devices. I will all but guarantee that the N4 is affected too.
Well since the 4.2 update my nexus has become quite useless to me. I used to use the bluetooth tethering feature on my phone (which I pay for).
Since the update this feature no longer works

just tried my bluetooth headset. crackling/studdering issues.
nexus 7, 32gb.
I can confirm the bluetooth tethering issue as well. Sound is stuttering and tethering over bluetooth is impossible. So now we've two big bluetooth issues :/
I have the same issue. What's weird is that it's fine when playing through my creative bluetooth speakers in my kitchen but affects my philips fidelo bluetooth speakers in my bedroom!

Have you checked "connect to device for internet access"?
I'm having no issues tethering to my HTC desire since upgrading to 4.2, but I did notice that i have to check this box every time that I connect via Bluetooth now.

I just tested BT tethering to my Galaxy Note, all is well there too. The audio problems are not acceptable, though. I am not happy at all.

Are you playing music you have locally loaded on the device? This issue is most prevalent with streaming audio such as Pandora, and streaming videos like YouTube. I have tried: A set of Motorola SF600 headphones, Belkin B51 Audio Bridge, and a Plantronics M155, so I doubt it is an audio-sink specific issue.

It may be a 2.1 vs 3.0 issue? **** at this point I am just sick and tired of doing Google's own testing for them. This is a disgrace.
I am testing this right now.
I am able to get audio from Audible book loaded on N7 to my Plantronic M1100, no problems. Headset is 2.1 EDR
Also, I have just paired my N7 with my work Lenovo X230 Laptop (Win 7) via BT, Audio is being played through with no issue and on screen controls on laptop are working. Laptop has a 4.0 chip built in.
Edit: Just installed Tunein radio, working on BT Headset and laptop still.
My speaker system is using Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR. Flashed the full factory image to go sure that it wasn't caused by the update procedure ... still the same problem. It's stuttering every 2-3 seconds.

Playing Spotify direct from the cloud
Just gave it a go with Sony DR-BT21G headphones. Play Music and YouTube both worked without problem. These headphones are only BT2.0, for what it's worth. My Nexus was stock 4.1.2 and did OTA to 4.2.
Hi all,
This may very well be a stupid question, but I can't find any information about it. Here's the deal. I have CM10.1 Stable, with original kernel, setup on the SNG. I also now have a bluetooth car radio. The pairing works fine, and calls can be made and heard on car speakers. However, whatever I do, I cannot get a music player to send music to the bluetooth. It just plays on the phone speaker. I've searched for settings, in bluetooth options, in the music players (tried two), but alas to no avail. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks for the help.
Tony
Don't remember about 10.1 but 10.2, the music through Bluetooth works fine..

OK, so how do you get it to work, step by step?
1-pair bluetooth device
2-Play music using apollo or player pro or whatever player you may use..
And is that it?
As I was saying, the problem here could very well be the user... But I can't figure it out !
Thanks,
Yeah. There is no need to open apollo. I just select BT audio on car stereo and it starts playing from where I left last time..

Hi all,
I've spent the last day trying to solve this issue and searching for answers on xda and elsewhere but there doesn't seem to be a solution. I have an HTC One, rooted, s-off, and running ViperOne. I recently upgraded my data plan and no longer have to worry about conserving my data each month so I started using Pandora in my car via Bluetooth. Bluetooth connection from my phone to the car has never been an issue. However, when I run Pandora, initially it has no problems connecting and will start playing a station right away but then when a song ends (and the screen has turned off), I always get the message that Pandora is unable to connect. Once I wake the screen, it magically starts playing the next song. Then when that song ends, the connectivity problem happens again and the only way to get it starting again is to once again unlock my phone, which is not exactly safe if I'm driving along and trying to be a safe driver by not fiddling with the phone. I've tested this out in the same spot in my home using my home wireless internet, and it works flawlessly. Even when the screen is off, the next song will play. Once I'm back on LTE, same problem happens again. I've already disabled the Power Saver option to not turn off data connection when the screen is off and turned off Sleep Mode. I'm wondering if this happens to anyone running stock software on their HTC One? Going through the ViperOne thread, it has appeared to be an issue for others as well. Thanks
Im on stock TMO HTC One and have streamed pandora, siriusxm and google play music many times on my way home with no issues.
Mainly through the headset jack. But for a few weeks i did use the HTC audio bridge A100 to stream music via bluetooth and that also had no issues.
Try to test another BT device OR if your vehicle has a stereo headset jack input try that. See if you get the same results.
Thanks for the quick reply. The problem seems to occur whether or not I'm using Pandora in my car via Bluetooth or just running Pandora by itself in my house as background music.

Any luck finding an answer to this? I'm having this same problem with TuneIn and XiiaLive, and haven't been able to find anything.
I've also completely uninstalled Viper Audio, so I'm thinking that isn't the issue.

I ended up wiping and re-installing Viper and the problem didn't happen anymore. I have not had any problems since. I think the thing to make sure of is that on whatever app you're having trouble with, to make sure you're not restricting background data for it in Data Usage.
I recently flashed CyanogenMod 12.1 nightly on my droid turbo. I Have had a good user experience so far, although there is only one issue that is really effecting my decision of using this ROM as my daily driver. My phone has no audio during Bluetooth calling and the microphone is not working as well. I'm not sure if this is a known issue or if there is a fix available at this time. I would greatly appreciate any responses in this thread troubleshooting the issue, so we can all resume safe hands-free driving.

Do you happen to be using the 11/29 nightly? I haven't tried any other newer release yet, but I have been able to successfully connect via bluetooth to my car and stream audio. I've had no indication of it failing. The one thing that got me at first when connecting to my car and streaming was that bluetooth has it's own volume control (which I turned up to maximum on my phone). I'm not sure that would explain the microphone though (if it's even related to your issue).

Depends on the bluetooth device you have. My Jawbone ICON earpiece works fine, and my Pioneer car stereo makes calls fine. Other people have had some issues. The dev says he needs a logcat for missing bluetooth configurations.

And you've gone into the phone audio settings (when it's connected) to make sure your mic audio, etc wasn't turned down? Audio settings change when Bluetooth is connected...
I use Volume Control Plus and put a shortcut on the desktop so I have quick access to all the phone volume settings.

yes I have made sure it is turned up on the head unit and the phone when connected and I have also tested when in a call selecting Bluetooth toggling back and forth from ear piece speaker but no change
This is why I ditched cm12.1 and went back to stock. My bt headset worked with music but no phone calls.

I am trying to get the audio from my CC with GTV to play to another source. My preference would be to cast the audio from CCGTV to another Google speaker because that would be the most elegant solution. But I do not think this is possible. I know you can include the Chromecast in a speaker group but as far as I can tell that is only so the same audio can play from your speakers and your TV simultaneously.
The other option that could work is to pair an external speaker with CCGTV via bluetooth. But according to this thread this is not a great solution because you have to forget and then re-pair the speaker every time. The thread has nearly 150 upvotes but Google closed it a month ago. There was no solution to this issue at the time but I wonder if the recent firmware update made bluetooth connections more stable?
Shortly after posting this I discovered that you can access the Play store directly on the Chromecast. I wonder if there is an app I could install that would let me cast audio from the CC to a Google speaker?

Hmm, let's see...I think we started using it regularly around maybe end of Jan/beg of Feb? Might be related to the latest system update that was rolled out in Feb, but not sure on that.
Haven't tried other speakers yet, since this is our go-to big boy for sound. If you want I can try my BT headphones and our smaller Xiaomi BT speaker to check and see on their functionality with Sabrina.

Yes, please. I would really appreciate that. If possible, leave the bt device powered on and turn the cc off for several hours before turning the cc back on. This is my use case, the bt speaker will always be on and I need cc to connect to it right away when it is turned on.
Thanks in advance!

Haven't forgotten about this yet, gonna have a look this weekend with the different speaker / headphone.
Last night I was watching a show with my lady via the CC and I switched on our UE Megaboom to connect. I forgot to switch off my phone's BT (had them paired before for workout), so they connected automatically.
I then switched off my phone's BT and also restarted the speaker, it automatically paired with the CC without us having to go into settings.
btw @"norm" vs. "exception": hope you are aware that you would most likely only find threads of people who have troubles with this others without issues are less likely to post and are thus far less visible.
edit: by the way, i noticed one big difference between your experience and the two threads you posted vs. my case: we are using the CC with a computer monitor without in-built speakers. so could be that CC somehow detects those inbuilt speakers and resets to a default that routes audio automatically to the inbuilt system.

Thanks for the update. I don't know why sometimes I have brain damage and didn't think about how easily I could have tested all of this out myself with a pair of BT headphones.
Anyway, if you are an "exception" than I am too because I tested with my headphones and they paired up every time without any problem. So then I used the bluetooth dongle that I want to use with my AV system and it works fine too. I have turned the CC off and on multiple times and it connects every time, plus I have zero audio delay like many others reported.
Solution achieved.
hmmm....so then what was different with your speaker?
