My wife has a Sensation Z710e. A few weeks ago it got an update from HTC w2hich resulted in the phone as it is right now.
I live in The Netherlands
Android version 4.0.3
HTC Sense 3.6
Software number 3.32.162.52
Since the update there is a significant drain in battery. I checked if any settings were changed, but as far as I can see nothing changed in settings. But where the phone could work all day untill late evening, it now lasts a mere 8 hours. With minimum use. Has anyone with a sensation have had the same problem.

I believe you are in the wrong forum, as this forum is for HTC Sensation XL, not HTC Sensation, it is a major difference between the 2 devices.

Hey Guys,
I've had my Incredible S for about 2 weeks and the last couple of days the Clock/Weather app is not updating AT ALL...manually or auto. I'm amusing its most likely a weather server issue but just wanted to know if anyone else is having these dramas....in Australia.
And I just remembered something else, not sure if I should start a new thread for this but my battery life so far is pretty crap, could be the Optus ROM but I hear other people having quite a good battery experience with this model... I mean, I hate saying this but I think my old 1yr old 3GS that I got rid of lasted longer...thats insane. haha.
Thanks in advance guys.
HTC Incredible S Stock 2.3.3 (S-ON...unfortunately)
Yep - same problem here of weather not updating as of a few days ago on my Legend on Optus. Others also seeing the same problem in Oz
http://androidforums.com/android-applications/343392-htc-weather-app-widget.html
Thanks for your reply mate.
Sort of a relief to know I'm not the only one...but still...NOT good if that makes sense...haha
Yeah I know some ppl with with the Desire HD (Froyo, 2.3) that have the issue as well... Just saying that as on the Android forums someone said that a friend of there's has 2.2 and it worked so...I still believe it could be server related... Shame really, I have to run a third party weather widget/app when there's a perfectly good one in HTC Sense (built in)...with a clock too! haha
Cheers.
I'm using the HTC stock Froyo on my Legend (upgraded from Eclair a few months back) so the weather update issue appears to be a server one as came out of the blue - wasn't related to a Android update
I just re read my post. I meant 2.2 Froyo. Not 2.3. Haha. Yeah, I agree, its gotta be server related.
Thanks mate.
Same issue here. Got back from the USA yesterday and since then my location weather hasnt been updating, it was working fine over in the US. Since updated to 2.3 Gingerbread and still got the same issue (Some cities update others don't (including my home location and Melbourne, Hobart, London). Mine is a HK DHD so it's just not the incredible S.
Yeah, its weird.
Thanks guys anyway...I haven't tried it for a while now, been using other widgets etc...shame I have to do that though...
But if anyone's got any ideas, please share. If only I could root this bloody thing... I could change where it gets its info from.... I think... haha
Fellaz, try clear data in order = Google Maps + Clock Widget + Weather + HTC Sync Weather Provider + Weather Provider
It works on my IS..

There should be a thread for this in every phone section.. For those who have recently changed from the infamous sense to the Vanilla Gingerbread Experience ie. CM7, how do you find the battery life. Better or worse? And if there are any kernels that you find give it much more juice in a charge please list below. I find that after my CM7 'upgrade' without any kernel changes that I am getting much better life in a day.

I guess there isn't that many CM7 users yet.

It's the main reason I want to s-off my cell phone right now. Battery life is next to nothing with Sense.
If it weren't for Android 2.3.3., we would all be using rooted Incredible S's.
Actually there are quite a few CM7 users now, if the download stats are to be believed.
Just a minor point: CM7 is not 'vanilla' Android at all, it has quite a lot of extra features, tweaks and customisations compared to the base Android system.
I'm in a dilemma right now.
I got my Incredible S a few days ago and everything works fine. After a bit of reading, I figured I was lucky to have the 2.2.1 version of the phone since it would allow me to either S-Off it or upgrade to Gingerbread.
Sense is fine and all, but I'm thinking of rooting the phone to be able to install custom roms in order to get better performance and more customization options. I'm mostly wondering how 2.3 with sense runs on the Incredible S compared to 2.2 with sense.
So root or go gingerbread with sense, which is the best thing to do?
Im using CM7 RC1 - have been since i s-off'd my IncS about 3-4months ago
cm7 on here has been clean, with no major issues - battery life for me has been great, im quite a heavy user, listen to alot of music, always tweeting or on facebook.
for me it lasts the whole day and feels to be better than when i was on stock sense.
Sense had too much other stuff running whilst i was "playing about" and would drain the battery alot quicker.
For me CM7 is the ideal rom for this phone, ive tried others but always came back to CM7

Impressive considering RC1 was only released at the end of June...

Simple. Root and then install a ROM that's based on the official Gingerbread update... you can have it all!

Just don't upgrade OTA to the official 2.30.405.1.
Read more here.
i've always found that sense was waay too much, i mean too much comes out of the box.
For me battery in CM7 works a bit longer then it stock, but in revolution hd + nosense script battery works even longer.
Also another reason I like it so much if because its using android almost the way it was supposed top be used.. Not with all of the bloatware and stuff
Swyped from my HTC Incredible S
I tried sense for a few days and it lasted about 23 hours on average. I installed Cyanogenmod7 just now, I'll come back with an update!
Am on Android Revolution HD after rooting and the battery life is better compared to the stock HTC 2.2 or 2.3 ROM. I have the Sense 3.0 addon installed with ARHD - a full charge usually lasts me 1.5days with moderate usage.
I think i'm gonna try ARHD with no sense script and see how it lasts..
MODS/ADMINS: Can you please change the title of this thread to "Comparing ROM Battery Life" or something of the genre.
Much appreciated.
I've been using Cyanogenmod7 for a few days now and I can't say that I've noticed any significant differences with Sense.

Good grief I wish I'd joined the XDA forum before I did that. *facepalm*
Now I join the lonely S-ON masses awaiting rommy freedom.

Just saw that news today thanks to Phandroid! Very welcomed developments and appreciate the heads up.
Ok, my sensation XL is here and I love it. Despite it does NOT have an SD card slot, despite it only has a WVGA screen. It is an amazing piece of hardware. The plus on this device is sense 3.5. With that, I seem to have a few bugs with the facebook chat widget within sense. Seems to lose its connection from time to time and has a hard time re-connecting. Also, the Skype app will NOT stay logged in even thou I have it set to never log off. Anyone else with any of theses issues..? I using on AT&T and everything else works just fine.
I myself have issues with the twitter app... It's quite unreliable when posting etc.... I think Sense confuses the phone a fair bit so have removed my details fom the HTC apps.
Yea, the sense in this one is a bit shakey. I think the Skype issue is because the device is not yet supported. At least that's what it said when video Skype was enabled. I remember having problems with Skype on the EVO 3D with it not keeping a constant connection and then remember it getting fixed in a newer build.
Raspster, I work for HTC. I'm using the Sensation XL as my daily driver with the EU final TA ROM and have not experienced this issue.
Please do NOT DM if you have a pre-TA ROM, but please DO DM me if you have a TM ROM with issues. Thanks.

How can I tell..? My software number is: 1.05.401.4. CL185058. I have already done a factory reset and still having the issues. Skype will not stay logged on and the FB chat will sometimes crash HTC sense but only the widget. Thanks
Had mine now for about 5 hrs and I have done as much as I can do with it in such a short time. YouTube hq is flawless but BBC iPlayer hq seems less crisp and slightly pixelated. Also I did a 720 hd video and I was not blown away as seen sharper even on old galaxy s I9000. Screen res really needed that qhd bump for high res vids. Emails all sync fine and battery also seems to hold up well. I quite like the size of it and it reminds me of my HTC flyer. Will keep playing and posting my thoughts

Can you please report about the battery, how long can it last with normal usage?!?!
Ok, just found a newer ROM dated Oct 24 vs. the original one of Oct 14th. Just installed. See what this does.
How do you find the rom date, and can you let us know where the newest dated rom is.

Can't find anything on the phone that offically gives a date but the kernal was dated on my stock ROM with Oct 14th 2011. The NEW stock ROM I installed gave a kernal date of Oct. 24th. FYI, Don't seem to be having issues with the facebook chat widget now but the skype will NOT stay logged in for more than an hour. I beleive this is a combatibility issue with the app and it needs to support the sensation XL. I am sure this will be addressed with a future Skype update.
Just got a message on my phone to update it to sense 6 but before I do just wanted to know as anyone had any problems since they updated. Last time I updated my HTC phone [oneX] I had nothing but problems and a wfif that didn't work at all

Well there's some minor bugs, but nothing that big compared to the hox. (I had one too, I know what you mean )
it worth updating imo
Hi I used cm11 and it lasted 3-4 days on battery but camera was faulty force closes among restarts. So I switched to Viperone which works but runs hot and battery life is about 8 hours... it loses 5% per minute when in use basically...
I need extreme efficiency cool operation with perfect operating camera and video and cm11 battery life... any help on best Rom kernel combo preferably cm11 with proper camera operation...
thx
Of course, everyone has an opinion. Here's mine:
If you like Sense, I like running NuSenSeven. It's a Sense 7 port that I'm currently running and is basically flawless. I tend to get 1.5 to 2 days of battery life (depending on Sprint service strength):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...t/rom-nusenseven-sense-7-0-v1-00-973-t3056647
If you do not like Sense, then I recommend Nocturnal GE (Google edition). I ran v1 of that ROM for a long time and since the base was written by HTC for the m7, it too is flawless. I got 2 to 2.5 days of battery life (again, depending on using wifi vs data and the strength of Sprint coverage):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/spr...t/rom-nocturnal-ge-cdma5-0-112-07-14-t2965049
With both ROMs, I ran them with the kernel that came with the ROM.
Thanks I would so much prefer Cyanogenmod but I would also love to get this thing on my ATT because I carry a horrible nokia and this phone because this phone doesn't work on ATT.
I tried everything is it truly working today now?
How can I properly in the most logical way possible use ATT on my M7 Sprint HTC One? In terms of ways people got it to work because those guides are so far from straight forward someone needs to get slapped and take a lesson in how-to-properly-and-easily-describe-directions...
I tried it a year ago and it simply wasn't working like the logic behind it made no sense that it requires a Sense rom yet it's Permanent and only on Sense Rom's. That just doesn't make sense to me. I'm used to a standard UNLOCK.
If you can help me I'd so much appreciate it! Can you also provide the link to that best Sense rom you love? and confirm that the rom you love will allow ATT unlock?
THANKS
