This is good, more people could buy it, and more popularity can only be good...I just hope some nasty custom kernel will be possibility in near future...

In India the price dropped caused a large number of users to buy this device compared to Samsung galaxy S3 or HTC one x. In fact it is out of stock in some of the popular online stores.
People are buying it due to the hardware specs and I don't think all of them are bothered about the bootloader.

you can be correct, but forums talk, reviews and discussion on the model type, does not really make this one the most popular.
and the fact LG hardly advertise in Denmark about this model. and the combo of forum discussing XXXXX is not there, makes someone less interested that someone says XXXX is here and its great.
just look at ppl buying nexus4 its another LG OEM branded mobile sold in the google tradition, and suddenly people likes LG mobiles? i believe someone said the internals was still as it is in previous LG mobiles, so they didnt really improve, they just got better advetising.

LG believes that the device should be sold based on the quality and specs and does not like to depend on advts., for sales.
As you said, nexus 4 has shown LG devices in good perspective and everyone I know is interested in LG optimus G device.

Nexus4 has shown the same as iPhone shows a iFan, that the brand tells more about the product than its quality its made on. that you can take to the bank
LG's bigbrother Samsung is still just one step ahead of LG when it comes to mobile and television and promoting themself on their own label not using Google as you say to sell its name as being better or qualified to be worthy the credit its given.

sadly they do make 2011 models better, but its past tense , their 2012 series are not better and reviews says that their topmodel lm980 is worse than the lw980 from last year, so yes they do make better tv's but that was last year.
lets hope they get better at it in 2013 with the new series coming out. and hopefully the OLED displays shows up in alot more shops.

My LG Smart TV is great!
When I went for it I saw a guy delivering back a samsung smart tv, some defects for what I understood, but the day before another one was doing the same in Mediamarkt....
I bought a F*cking expensive Samsung Fridge. One of those ultra silence, extra capacity comparing external size, A++, etc... The
problem is that its noisy like a truck... I call service (Poland... no comments) and they repair something but, no result. Call them again, this time they said might be something different... another repair, no result once more. If we try to contact Samsung by the internet its worst than LG, at least Samsung polska...
And I have to leave with a fridge that works lowder than my old fridge of 20 Years ago cause theres nothing I can do... I don't speak ****ing polish... Its like being in africa!!!
Well, one day I'll wake up with a very bad mood and I'll throw it out of the window! Than I'll buy other...
By the way, Samsung smoke extractor is not much better than the fridge
Sorry for the OT but, Samsung,... no thanks.

thats wierd.. since my new lg 3d tv is like 2-3steps better than my friends brand new samsung tv he even said so himself.. I Don't care what reviews says.. there is allways one of them that is a "fanboy" somewhere inside them, that brings out some of the stupidest reviews ever. But i'm no fanboy.. i've had like every brand there is TV it's LG, phones its apple/htc/samsung(and some of the lg phones.. nexus 4, optimus g.. i think my phone lacks what i rly like about android), tablet imho ipad is the best choice, PC or mac? for me.. pc.. with that HUGE price diffrences.

I'm serious. I figure if people are b*tching about their phones performance or that their phones are bricked because they are dumb enough to mess around with their phones without doing the necessary reading and screw up their phones, maybe they'll be dumb enough to fall for this. Not at all. I bought mine last Thursday. Started by hacking the Kies registry and downloading the JPY firmware.
So far it's meeting or surpassing all my expectations. Sure, a LED flash would be nice. Or a nice aluminium body. Then again it fits into my pockets exceptionally well this way.
Anyway, I'm loving it so far!
Appart from the GPS performance, I'm really happy with my Galaxy S.
Completely happy with my Galaxy S.
The software on SGS is getting better and better:
- firmwares (soon gingerbread)
- costom ROM's (allways optimised)
- kernels (speedmod, voodoo, OC, ...)
- usefull app modifications (phone, email, mms,...)
- sound improvements (voodoo)
- video improvements (voodoo)
- file system improvements (ext4,...)
- new features (audio true usb, connect external usb flash,...)
- many more things to come...
Best phone of the year 2010!

Definitely unhappy with the phone. I mean, I'm waiting on my third one to come in, and that's nothing compared to the number of phones some people have gone through on here (first one was on stock JH2 as well and died before the Froyo update even dropped, so it's not the hacks).
That said, $150? Makes a hell of a lot more sense to get a replacement, sell it for $400-500 and buy a Desire Z or some other more stable $500 phone.
hello everyone. .
my dad has been using an iphone 4 32gb right from it's month of launch till date and finally he is getting a new phone.actually he is getting the phone of his choice for free as a gift and i wanted to know whether you guys think it's wiser to get the iPhone 4s 64gb since it's much more expensive at around 4100 Qatar riyals($1125) compared to the note 16gb which sells for 3000 Qatar riyals($823)at virgin and vodaphone stores..he has been using ios for over 2years now and he can still sell the 4s if he doesn't like it and get a better phone later..plus iPhone's don't come defective straight out of the box like the note..if i could trust Samsung's quality then i would never even consider the iphone!!! i really don't want dad to be in the same dilemma that i am currently in!!!
me and my mom both have note 16gb...mom purchased hers from india for 31000 rupees($600) at the month of launch and she also got a nokia touchscreen phone worth 4500 rupees($90) for free from the eBay promotion that was going on at the time.btw this is a brand new in sealed box phone and the cheap price is because Samsung prices its phones reasonably in India right from lauch and my dad purchased mine from doha at virgin mobile store for 3000 Qatar riyal ($823) and sent it over to me in India.. btw he got the money back for it though since it was also a gift from some company
my moms phone is manufactured in Korea and it does not have any problems except for the banding and clipping..on the other hand my phone is manufactured in Vietnam and right from opening the box i noticed many problems with
1)there is a very faint pink spot in the middle of the screen only visible in low brightness with a grey or white background..after i noticed it once it drives me mad while browsing or reading e-books
2)while using the S-pen it registers the touch when bringing it close to the screen..i don't have to touch the screen.when it's brought close even at 3cm it registers the touch.. the weird thing is that it occurs only when using the phone in specific positions like while lying on the bed or using the phone inverted
3)the battery life on my device sucks!!!! my mom gets over 1day of light usage on her device..but she makes around 4-5 hours of voice calls!! i always use my device heavily but 4-5 hours of backup its unacceptable!!!!
when i took the device to a local service center in India they said that i would have to pay money to get it fixed since its out of country purchase!!! WTF IT'S A FRIGGIN' $800 DEVICE AND ITS DEFECTIVE ON ARRIVAL AND SAMSUNG REFUSES TO PROVIDE SUPPORT!!!!
anyway I'm suffering for trusting Samsung and purchasing its device and I'm paying the price for putting my trust and money on a company with no quality control who sells defective devices
i was using an iPhone 4 32gb myself and i got it around the time of launch along with my dads phone and to be frank i haven't faced a single hardware problem till date and now i regret selling it off when i got the news that i was getting a note
i don't want my dad to be in the same situation that i am currently in and i think he should go for the 4s 64gb
what do you guys think???

Then show that to your dad on a desktop or a laptop, then he himself would buy a Note.

Definitely the Note.
- "old peoples" have "bad" eyesight and 5,3" will help much compared to 3,5".
- Note with S-Pen do a huge different.
- Both u and u mom already having the Notes and why not u dad too?
- See what u dad usually do with a cellphone and get the one that suits his needs.
Loan u Note to u dad, let him use it for few days and see what he got to say. Then get the one he is most satisfied with.
Best thing .. steal your dads phone and give him urs for 2 days, then give him back his iPhone..
You will see him immediatly asking for a Note as th gift
Note for sure.
So iphone too has problems. Alteast note has bigger screen and most important thing, its android
Android = from the people to the people by the people for the people.

HTC one X could also be a choice if Note is not at home ....
Used to own IP4 and IP4s and sold them even when jailbroke there not much you can do to it. Only gay theming and little tweaks other than that if you buy one Apple owns you they are so cheap to do hardware upgrades which they should have done after Iphone4. Note is way better than any iphone releases I will even pick S2 than iphone4 or 4s. Only reason I kept my iphone before is because of my free apps but the way I see it now Market is improving and seeing more apps and games available for download.

now now. my dad runs a few mobile phone shops in malaysia and i have used almost any mobile phone that was available in malaysia. to say that samsung is like a lottery doesnt sound right. honestly, buying every phone is like a lottery. we had customers who bought their phones for less than a week and come back with problems after problems after problems and you just cant help but feel sorry for them. when iphone 4s was first launched, my dad sold 2 straight to one of his friend. 2 weeks later, both screens werent working at all. some complained that the battery life was worse than 3gs some had no problems.
saying N8 is a tough phone hmm. i have dropped my iphone 3gs many times and no problem with mine either. one of the lucky customers accidentally dump his phone while holding in his hands onto his car and the whole screen was gone.
so far, i havent heard of any note with problems from customers. my dad is using note since the first batch and i just got mine yesterday. so far so good with no problem for mine and his. maybe yours was just one of the lucky ones? my dad is samsungs priority dealer so we get to have all the samsung mobile phones first hand and that means we sell the first batch too.
IMO, get what you think is best for him. let him try yours and see if he likes android or iOS. What we think is good may not be good for him. consider this, will he be able to port from iOS to android? does he just want a simple phone to just make calls and text just like the way he used to? or he wants something more.
i would go for note anyday too.
stability and usability: iphone 4s
functionality: note

Quad core Krait S4 Sounds nice but i'll stick to the 4x for now. This won't make it into store till December at least IMHO.

Yes this is a great phone for all matters. 4g is nice but only a concern if your carrier provides it. Only one here in Australia does, and they would not be my first choice of carrier based on previous experience.
On another note: How is LG in regards to rooting and and flashing custom roms? Coming from an older Galaxy S and first generation tab, I would ask for a comparison in regards torooting and flashing Samsung devices. I know how valuable good dev support is.

Easier than Samsung but do not expect development by lg at all. So that's the advice and ask all the lg owners, I got 6 different lg phones non of them lg update released yet, custom roms on every one. Of them or I'll still be in 2 with 1.6, or 2.2 in the others it sucks but is easier than Samsung for sure no counters or any other weird stuff

And they are working on the next Update (V10c).

According to this article (and others like it I could not find right away) the reputation you speak of for HTC is not true. In terms up updating thier phones, HTC is the best of the major OEMs. Get a ONE!
... not to mention this is the first time (or first time in a while) we've seen them drop the same phone on many carriers, and tout a phone as their flagship for the year.
I feel like they'll be behind making this thing the best they can make it this year.
The best of all major OEM's?! Are you joking? Call me a Sammy fanboy all you want but there upgrading 2 year old phones still, and many, many others! I do NOT see HTC doing this. Samsung has way more phones out then HTC and still manages to do this. I honestly might be getting the One but by no means is HTC the best at updating.

The best? No, but if you look at the facts, HTC is updating faster than Samsung based on statistics. So take that how you want to.

Not to mention that Samsung only really updates their flagships and not the lower end phones. I just came over to One from an S3.

Also keep in mind Samsung's success has them being the top android manufacturer. They have a lot more money to hire developers than HTC. This allows them to keep up with their devices like they do. But Samsung used to be terrible before their success. HTC might become very competitive on updates as well. They're not bad now, but sprint did drag their feet with the Evo 3D.

Indeed, with the One I think we're going to see big things for HTC over the next year. A unified phone being the biggest contributor to their increase sales. They did what the GS3 did originally but stepped up their game with a modern phone with modern specs. Competition is good for the two, it will make everyone else reach harder to stay on par and they'll compete for who has the better phone. I think when 5.0 is dropped most likely next month, both manufactures will be rushing to get it out, we can only hope that the carriers don't drop the ball.
I think HTC has already stated that a 4.2.2 build is in the works and we'll get it soon. (Hopefully)

I agree with HarryTipper. Sammy seems to be better at upgrading than HTC. They didn't used to be but they have stepped up their game in past two years. HTC took forever to update the 3d and the evo LTE as well.

I know, was just poking some fun. I've had a Samsung Moment, LG Optimus One, then an HTC Evo 3D all on Sprint. I also follow smartphones/tablets and new technology in general daily (actually, part of my job sort of). What I've seen is Samsung sucked at updates until that had success with the Galaxy series, even the early Galaxy's were slow to get updates. The LG phones were lucky to get anything at all. HTC updated pretty well recently, except in the US. International HTC devices got updates pretty quickly and regularly, but Sprint was slow to do so. Sprint seems to have been slow about this in general just like every other carrier here in the US. Although, the Evo 3D was extremely late (almost a year later) to the ICS party. This update was promised to us pretty early and it started to feel like we'd never get it by the time it released. Then Sprint held it for testing I assume for a few more months. The Evo 3D users were suspecting Sprint was holding onto the ICS update to encourage people to buy their Boost Mobile variant of the phone as it released with ICS, was the same exact phone with a different name, and was supposed to attract people to Boost. Not sure if this is the real reason, it was a month or two after that phone launched the rest of us got ICS.
In either case, HTC wasn't bad about it, they weren't great but they weren't bad. Sprint, on the other hand, seems to have been slow and I know there are a number of reasons for this. They need to test everything before they launch it. Does it work on their network properly and with their bloatware? They have to prioritize their devices to test and they have to be thorough to ensure they aren't liable for anything going wrong. It's a crappy system, but thats how it is.

And it also comes with a creaky, terrible housing. Software versus hardware... Take your pick. One can be changed, the other can't. (Of course you can always put a solid case on it. My wife is probably going to get the GS4, so I won't speak too terribly about it, and I will by no means call it a bad phone... just poor build quality, especially compared to the One.)
If you haven't seen The Verge's review on it, check out the body response they gave.

I don't like holding this phone, and I can't overstate how much that informs the experience of using it. It makes an awful first impression, slippery and slimy and simply unpleasant in your hand. My white review unit is completely smooth and glossy, with a subtle checkered pattern that looks textured but is neither grippy nor textured anywhere on its body. Even the silver band around the sides, which is obviously supposed to look like metal, is plastic. Everyone I showed the GS4 to frowned and wrinkled their nose as if it smelled bad, before rubbing their fingers on the back of the phone and then handing it back to me — that's the opposite of the standard reaction to HTC’s One, which everyone wants to ogle and hold. That's going to be a huge problem for Samsung, because the GS4 and One are likely to be next to each other on store shelves, and at least on first impression there's absolutely no contest between the two.

Hmmm Evo LTE came out June, was updated December. 6 months, only 2 months after Sprint released the update for the SG3. Sounds like its not HTC or Samsung but the carrier who is the culprit.
Now lets see. All the GS3's outside the US got upgraded to 4.1.2 in december. Has the GS3 been updated in the US yet? Nope, has it recieved the new samsung premium suite package that everyone else with the GS3 recieved? Nope. Hmmmmm....
If you actually looked at the link posted above, you can clearly see that there isn't much of a difference between Samsung and HTC as far as timely updates.

I honestly don't care about what it's made of as long as it looks good, and performs good I'm fine. I am more of a specs and software kind of person. Although the one does have me pretty intrigued because I've never had a phone built as so, and I listen to music and watch a lot of videos so I know those speakers will come in handy. I'm going to give it a test drive, and if I don't like it, I'll just switch to the S4. The only reason I'm hesitant is because I'm not a big fan of sense... nor am I a big fan of all the stuff you have to do to root the thing. Compared to Samsung phones, it's way more difficult.

As much as I love the One, I was actually thinking the same. If the GS4 comes out and it's amazing, I'll simply switch over. The build quality is no competition, but like I said, you can always get a solid case. I would like a larger screen. If I could get my hands on a phone with 5.5" screen and current hardware, I would probably jump on it (LG Optimus G Pro, if it ever comes to Sprint?).

If you want that, why not get the note 2? It's going to get a lot of the S4 features, and I wouldn't go with LG. The Optimus G has been out less then a year, and had 1 update and is already EOL.

A lot of rumours going around over who will make the next Nexus phone but this may be a solid one.
I Personally have not had any experience with any Huawei products so I can't say whether this excites me or not.
Would still prefer Sony to have a go.

Arrgh
Lets hope not.
I find it hard to believe that they would leave it in the hands of a successful brand but not as successful as any other OEM they could have if they wish to.
hmm
Probably come embedded with hidden spyware and a small nuke attached to the motherboard.
To build a Nexus which is supposed to have specs of a flagship phone and a killer price tag, how about giving OnePlus a try to manufacture it?

LOL, I was hoping LSD instead!
NEVER use those Chinese brand
The QC is a joke
Also, don't let them increase the market share
Just a rumor with nothing behind it. The specs are obviously made up (Snapdragon 820 in 2015 and 6000mAh battery lol) and we've seen thousands of these fake concepts in the past.
Definitely impossible.
They'd make it look like the iPhone anyways

Riiiiight. Leave it to the company with the absolute worst customer service in the business.
I read somewhere that LG will be releasing a new Nexus some time this year.

Would be odd for google to chose a company from a country that blocks most of their services. Maybe a peace offering to get back into mainland China.

Why would you want a nexus with a sub par SOC?
i like to see LG again, but in the end i dont care much what manufacturer builds it. i dont care if chinese, russian, taiwanese or japanese.
but please, not Motorola. i just dont like that Design.
anyway, i guess nothing will beat the timeless nexus 5 design. just give me a better camera and a thicker battery :cyclops:
this could be good news actually. one sure thing is that its going to be more affordable. the one reason that kept me away from n6 is the price tag.
if Huawei is making the next nexus, then count me out. I'll stay with my N5.
would like to try it out as long as it does not have any "baidu" in it, besides smartphone market is having loads of competition from japan and Korea let see what the Chinese make of things
