Ive made the two partitions and tried flashing but i get a error on flashing
'file_getprop: failed to stat " /tmp/install/hardswap.prop': No such file or directory
E:Error in /External_sd/Hard-Swap-Yank555.lu_flasher-v1.0a.zip
could it be that im using speedy gonzalez kernal and it doesnt have swap support built in?
what am i doing wrong?
Well swapper 2 suffice?
there is no way to use it on this device as we dont have a kernel that has swap built into the kernel

Thank you is there any alternative such as swapper that could work?
my phone completely bricked............. I dont know how it wont turn on or anything first day using speedy gonazalez kernel perhaps this can be a warning for anyone who used 4.1 with speedy gonzalez I just bought the phone on craigslist too ... like a week ago worked fine without the speedy kernel I did change the maximum cpu frequency to 1300 if that matters but only on demand.

I think you can make a swap on the sdcard? Many that was on gingerbread?

With Z4Mod's kernel module flashing ability is it possible to flash an already written Glaxay S variant OC module? I assume voltages and stable frequencies are identical.
I've never flashed a module using Z4Mod but I recently tackled Odin and I'm feeling adventurous
I'm willing to use my Galaxy Tab as the test bed so no one else has to worry about having an expensive paper weight for the holidays.
Thanks a million

Simple advice: dont do it.
Never flash anything designed for another device. Yes, the GalaS and the Tab may be similar, but its where theyre not similar that make the big difference.

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I'll try a different route. Is the operating frequency contained in the build.prop? If I try tweeking the frequency w/o flashing a module I believe the worst I could do is freeze the device. Then a fix would be as easy as a reflash from a backup or use rotohammer's .tar.

no the frequency and voltage settings are set in the kernel! you would need to recompile the kernel and then flash the new kernel from heimdall or odin!
i almost finished an overclock kernel but i dont want to flash it when im done because im afraid to brick the device and i have problems compiling it and i dont have so much time atm because i have to do tests at school so i need to learn! but i can give u the files u need to edit if u want so
Off topic, but I dig your handle. Mixes my name and Android I'll give it a shot. Send them my way and I'll see what I can do. I'll have to brush up on my Linux skills though. I used Ubuntu up until 10.04 when I switched to the (Bill Gates) dark side but I still have Karmic installed on my dual boot machine.

so u need to mess around with the kernel source, i can upload it if u want so!
but if u already got 'em, u need to mess with these files:
GT-P1000_kernel.tar/Kernel/drivers/cpufreq/
there is the freq_table and the cpufreq.c and we need to find a way to edit them and speed up our hummingbirds! we should also take a look at the manhattan project! they managed it to overclock the galaxy s!
If you could, post the link for me. I'm at work now so there isn't much I can do but I'll definitely start tinkering when I get home.
Keep us posted! Been waiting for an overclocked kernel!

It has an option to flash just zImage by itself. Failing that you could always just reflash the whole thing.
That was my assumption and why I'm not too scared to give this a shot.
Heimdall
I'm having trouble finding a dl for Heimdall. Anyone know of a good link? Odin is fine but I'd like to mess around with Heimdall, broaden my horizons. Most of my Android knowledge comes from HTC devices so this as much a learning experience as it is fun.
EDIT: Never mind. Found it.
Did you flash anything yet?

Flashing a kernel is not hazardous. If it doest work properly then you just flash back a good one.
Now as for the bootloader, flashing that scares me!

im on di11igafs 5.2 newest rom with Firebirds newest kernel flashed. I want to switch to SetrioNs kernel here for some good overclocking. I am unsure which to use and what the difference between his normal and XT versions are. i tried flashing the newest 1.6ghz XT SetrioNs but it freaked out my phone even in recovery menu after 20 seconds it would freeze up after about 20 seconds. Do i need to disable the lagfix in the recovery menu and or something else first? any help would be greatly appreciated . Thanks

Thats not what I asked about nor did I try to set it at 1.6 ghz. The phone wouldnt even boot long enough for me to change the voltage control settings. So I suppose i should rephrase my question so I dont get another answer like this one. I would like to use SetrioNs kernel, im using Firebirds kernel right now. Are there any steps i need to take in order to properly flash setrions kernel so that i dont have the problems I had previously?

Party pooper.
I know right? Woot woot.
Ok, sorry man. Honestly I would suggest downloading the Paragon rom and yanking the kernel out of that. It is much more up to date and allows oc.as high as 1.6. I have used that one without issue. Haven't tried setirons in quite a while so I don't know what may be going on.
Easiest way is to just put the rom zip in your sd card then use sgs kernel flashed app and select the rom zip. It will extract the kernel and flash it for you. Might want to disable lagfix first as sometimes problems occur when jumping back and forth between firebird and others.
Use voltage control 3.0 to control that kernel as well.

Ah! Thank You Thats exactly what i was looking for. I only have one question left. If i pull the kernel out of the rom will it be in .tar form? Thanks again
The kernel will be zimage. You can just copy that file straight to your sd card and the kernel flasher app will work with that as well.
Also it would seem that paragon is now using speedmods kernel. would you happen to be able upload the kernel you are using for me?

they're not i9000 based.
I'm testing the first kernel. Going to let it sit during the night and see what it does to the battery. Had a 1200+ quad score (and yes I know it doesn't really mean anything) which is still a couple of hundred more than Eugene got.
This is hardly scientific but there is no splash screen when booting. I'm not talking about a boot animation. I mean, the screen says Vibrant the whole time.

Yeah CorCor hasn't released a new kernal in a while, he was supposed to be making one for DC but I don't think it was ever finished, or if we are ever going to get it. and you should play around with different voltages all Droid's react differently. Mine can handle ULV but your's may not be able too, start with SV and then work your way down to LV and see how it works

Hi,
so I'm currently running the Lunar-Kernel because I want to have more clockspeed-cteps, lower minimum clockspeed and voltage-controls so that I can undervolt the CPU slightly which saves a lot of battery.
I just realized that it has this stupid Logo2Wake and Logo2Menu-Feature that I don't need and now I want to know how I can disable those or if there is any kernel that supports those voltage and clockspeed-settings but doesn't have these Logo-Features.
Thanks for your time and help in advance!

Ok so because you don't need them, doesn't mean these are stupid features. Devs are working hard to bring those features users asked for. What is stupid imo is someone not searching the forum for something evident. maybe you should read those threads
