Has anyone purchased this stylus? It's 3mm thick at the tip, which is really fine. The reviews are very mixed. I'm curious how it would work on the nexus?

I've got several nice styli, but they are all typical "fat finger". I've decided to buy this one to see if the 3mm tip makes a good difference. It obviously will work, just curious how well it does. I'll report back when I get the N10 and the stylus.

I have a S3 so already have the S pen, and the only device it works with is the S3...
None of the tablets I've tried work with it as it needs a high resolution digitizer.
So don't buy one for the Nexus 10, as it won't work properly.

C Pen doesn't work with the Nexus 10
Hey so I have the Galaxy S3, the C Pen and the Nexus 10. The C Pen doesn't really work on the Nexus 10. It will at times if you press hard, but it's quite obvious it wasn't made for it. The C Pen does work on other Samsung phones like the Galaxy Nexus that I've tested it on without a problem, but the screen has to be made for it. Although the S Pen is the most accurate pen on the Notes, after that the C Pen is by far better than every other stylus in the market. So it was a shame when it didn't work on the Nexus 10. Sorry the best you can get is something like the Bamboo Stylus or the Jot series

Damn, that sucks. Eh, I'll just give it to the wife, she has an s3. The digitizer sensors are probably spread more apart on most tablets. What a shame. Guess the Note series is the best in that department.

I just received the s-pen in the mail. Beautiful build quality. Definitely does not work on the N10. I also tried it on my HTC 'rezound, HTC rhyme, hp touchpad, and fuhu nabi 2, didn't work at all. It does work great on the galaxy s3 and older fascinate....? Wonder why.

It works because of the digitizer they use for those phones. Here is a general idea of the tech behind the s-pen.

From your point of view does it make any sense to you buying a nexus 7 when you already own a Galaxy s3 since it is already that big? Wonder whether it makes that much of a difference after all.
Looking forward to what you are thinking about that!
Thanks!
i dont understand??? the gs3 is half the size of the N7...one is a phone the other a tab...N7 is pure google gs3 is samsung ui...
what are you trying to do with this thread???
If I had an S3 or or a Galaxy Nexus I probably wouldn't have gone for the N7. And now I have an N7, I am not bothering updating my old phone just yet.
I just wouldn't bother having 2 devices that do almost all the same things but people have different feelings and different needs.
But I have never really understood the device vs device thing anyway and too many people seem too concerned with what devices other people choose.
If you are happy with your choice, what does it matter?
I'm actually considering a smaller screen phone for my next phone. Simply because I do have the N7 and probably will always have a tablet with or near me...
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
It's only a matter of time until you can use a tablet like the N7 to make phone calls through Bluetooth and only need one device. I still don't have a smartphone and wish I could just do that now.

I just can't decide.
Nexus 7 and iPhone 5
OR
Galaxy S3 and iPad 4 or new Mini 8 inch iPad tablet (no Retina display)
Both combos have pluses minuses, I love the Tegra 3 THD games although you can find the apk files they still stutter a bit.
I own the Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus 7 and almost never use my Galaxy Nexus unless I'm out and about because the N7 is just so much nicer to use. Still happy I have both though as Verizon 4G is great for tethering.

What he said.
I have an SGS3 that goes everywhere I go and my Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 goes most places as well. My wife does the same with her i4 and N7 as does our son with his phone & Nook Color (CM9).
All of the devices have their place and I would not readily replace any of the phones with any of the tablets or vice-versa. I/we don't (yet) have a larger tablet but if there were, say, a 13" device, I could easily see it (with Bluetooth keyboard & track pad) replacing a general-purpose laptop.

Galaxy S3 is not that big.
How comfortable is it to read from the S3? Because N7 functions quite well as a reader. But if you're already ok with it, maybe there isn't much point after all.
I have sgs3, and thinking to buy N7. Would someone with both devices be so kind to take few photos and put it here, as reference. Of course, few words of experience with those devices is welcome.

Even owning a Note (as a tablet too small, as a phone too big?) wasn't enough, my SGS3 is a hefty screen "phone". But the N7 is still a right size tablet device for me.
I can't read, enjoy XDA/forums, watch movies/anime on the SGS3's comparatively "small" screen.
IMO YMMV,
-CC
I have both and both are great devices. For games nexus 7 screen size is great as well as for browsing the screen size is better than S3. S3 looks big when you don't have Nexus 7. To be honest the difference of screen size between a note and S3 is a lot of difference although on paper looks small and Nexus 7 is even more bigger and ideal size to hold and type in two hands. What S3 lacks is jelly bean and if you don't own a nexus 7 then you don't know how good jelly bean is as compared to ICS. Since I bought the nexus 7 my S3 and iPad 3 both are just sitting on table collecting dust. These days I am caring S3 whenever I go out of house just because it is phone not because it is S3.
Rest is up to you that what you want from your device. Both devices are very different and there is no comparison. Believe me 4.8 inch screen is not that big in front of bigger devices. Once you get N7 you would probably forget about your S3

No idea what 5/8pi mean. I've used Wacom tablets for years and I've never heard any statistic quoted as Xpi.
As far as the difference I've been trying to figure that out as well. I think it may just come down to marketing; if you search for "s pen with eraser" on Amazon one of the first couple results is the same one seen at those eBay sellers, except the item description includes a box shot. On there you can see that the pen is clearly branded as for the Note 10.1, while the one on Samsung's store is branded for the Note II. My guess is that they originally developed the eraser pen for the 10.1, never launched it outside a few countries, and then redesigned the looks slightly for the Note II.
Someone would need to test both of them but I'd strongly suspect that they're functionally identical. On top of that, there's this: (http://www.samsung.com/us/computer/laptops-accessories/AA-DP0NE2B/US which I believe is the pen for the Samsung Series 7 Slate. Looks extremely similar, and on Amazon I see that most of the reviews are from people who purchased it to use with the 10.1.
hey guys, need a little advice here.
I spontaneously bought the Tab 2 7.0 for Black Friday, but I've been looking at the Nexus 7 for a while now. What should I choose?
I like the touchwiz features but the cleanness of stock android. I use my tablet for: music, facebook, instagram, games, memos, reading, watching netflix. Is it worth the extra $40? (Tab was $160 for me)
Thanks

Yes yes yes yes. The extra $40 is well worth the cost of N7, & the speed/upgradability is much better on the N7.
get the nexus unless you MUST HAVE tv out.. for 13.00 you can get hdmi dock for gtab...the g tab also has the ir remote dual cameras and sd card slot. thou no ap/to sd .
Ours has 8 gb its slower then nexus but runs ok... My spouse Bonnie Loves the Ir blaster remote .But i hear it only works with some cable companies .Ours its great..
The nexus is twice as fast 16 or 32 gb storage (32 gb is what mine is). Its well worth the extra money ...
you decide...
I love the touch wiz stuff but I have the SGS3 so I get my fix there so I opted for the nexus. I will say this the WiFi tab2 is getting Jellybean right now so if you like the tab that will def be a nice addition. Also weigh the no SD/SD card situation to me for what I use my tablet for its not important as I use alot of cloud. To other's it could be important.

If you were only going tu use it for media consumption I'd say stick with the GTab but since you also want to do gaming I'd recommend you spend the extra $40 and get pretty much the top of the line (at 7 inches). Actually if possible you should spend $90 and get a 32gig because graphic intensive games will kick the **** out of your 16gig really fast.

I too was considering N7 and Tab 2 7.0. I was looking for a used one on CL. I actually wanted the Tab 2 more than the N7 due to the expandable memory and lower cost. However, long story short, I got the N7 and have no regret because I don't miss what I never had (what I never had being the Tab 2). I'm sure I'll work something out to overcome the lack of expandable memory.

Also, you're gonna get a lot of biased answers here because you're asking the question in the N7 forum.
I think they are both brilliant devices for the money. I had the original galaxy tab when it first came out and loved it. I really do think Samsung make some top quality hardware. I have a nexus 7 now and I do love stock android, I also went for the 32gb model for £199 so that will more than accommodate my storage needs.
I have a galaxy s3 for my Samsung fix so that's why I ended up choosing the nexus 7.
I'd stick with what you have for now mate and get your moneys worth. Something new is bound to emerge after Christmas and then you will probably puck a nexus 7 up for peanuts.

The Nexus 7 is sure to get multiple updates straight from Google as soon as they come out.
If you keep the tab 2 7.0, you are probably going to have to root it and put aokp 5 on it. Stock is a little slow. And someone stated that the tab 2 7.0 had TV out, I don't believe that it does. I have had it since launch day.

I switched not so much because of something I did not like because I didn't know what was better or worse than the Nexus 4 vs the Note 2. I wanted the pen, sd card, otg and the larger screen. I now find I like the larger size as I have rather large hands. So with the Note 2 I don't keep accidentally pushing the buttons on the side of the phone. I also happen to like Touch Wiz as I have it on my GNote 10.1 and I am not really that concerned with quick updates or having the latest versions. I would have gotten a Note 2 in the first place If I could have afforded it unlocked. Which I could not but I could afford the Nexus 4. Now I found someone that bought a T-mobile Note 2 on contract because they could not afford a Nexus 4. They kept their contract and switched it to the Nexus 4. They requested the Note 2 be unlocked. So I got an unlocked Note 2 without a contract. Making it was a win win situation for us.
As I use the Note 2 I find that the calls made using Talkatone over WiFi are much better quality without having to make any adjustments other than to increase the speaker settings in Talkatone when speaking to my wife as she speaks very softly. The Note 2 does not have the mic gain problem that the Nexus 4 has.
I find the screen of the Note 2 to be quite a bit cooler in color than the Nexus 4. I am still not sure which I think is better color wise. Sharpness of text and images is so great on both as I can not see any thing but smooth curves no matter how hard I look. I can not see any dots on either screen so dpi and resolution are fine for me on both.
I don't like for the physical button on the Note 2. I would rather have the center button be the same as the menu and back buttons. Also I think it looks cheap. I love how the back and menu buttons are not on the screen and do not show but light when touched. I find the arrangement of the buttons on the Note 2 better for me. On the Nexus 4 the back button always seemed to be on the wrong side. Of course the real estate of the screen is awesome the thinner frame around the screen makes the phone look even bigger than it is.
I don't like the fact the Note 2 uses S-Beam instead of Android Beam as they don't work together as far as I can tell. My wife has an Xperia Acro S using Android beam and we were able to beam some pictures sometimes between it and the Nexus 4 via NFC and Android Beam but we can't beam pictures using S-Beam and Android Beam between the Xperia Acro S and the Note 2. We were able to beam a Youtube but really that just beamed the link and opened up the Youtube player.
No, there's no nexus 8 out there if that's what you're wondering. I just want to know how many people here would love to have their screen a lil bit bigger. For me the nexus 7's screen is quite small. I don't want a Nexus 10 'cause it costs about 650$ here in Switzerland (that's 3 times the N7) and 10 inches is too big for me. I'd prefer an 8 inches screen. As the phone's size is getting bigger, I think there might be a chance that this tablet will also get a little bit bigger some day. A N8 may be. I don't know. Just wonder how many people would love to have that.
7 Inch just feels right for me, gaming, reading e-book, browsing, and kinda easy to carry around :0
The 7"screen is perfect. I sold my 10" Samsung tablet cause it was just way to big. When the successor to the N7 cones out I hope its still a 7" tablet.

To be honest, 8 inches is too big. The nexus 7 fits well in one hand, but even the ipad mini which is 7.9 inches, it's hard to hold
Sent from my Nexus 7 using xda premium
Definitely not, I returned the Kindle Fire HD 7" and one of the many reasons was the bezel is too wide so I can't hold it with one hand. I chose the Nexus 7 for it's ease of holding with one hand and it's portability.
I wouldn't mind if the screen size grow, but bezels shrink to compensate to retain the dimension, maybe 7.7".
Sent from my Nexus 7
Actually, if the Nexus goes to 8 inch, that just means similar as the iPad Mini which is 7.9 inch. For most people, I think 7 inch is just very suitable, and there is no need to develop a 8 inch one. But I think size cannot decide everything.there are many other factors.
Don't forget, if they do go 7.9 inches, imagine all the commotion on Google copying Apple.

All I want is the nexus 7 with a rear cam and tegra 4. This n7 is the best tablet I have owned.
Owned the transformer prime, kindle, iPad

7in screen is perfect.
I have a 10in Viewsonic G-Tablet but it is just too big to carry around everyday.
For right now the Nexus 7 is perfect
The N7 is perfect as it is... I'm an old school tech gear head and this tab has taken everything I can throw at it...A few of our compatriots have suggested that a rear facing camera would improve it... I say no... I've got a phone for my snapshot needs and if needed transferring pix is a non issue...I agree that the T4 processor and above would be great, but this is a solid tab that runs circles around my girlfriends Galaxy tab 2.. If it ain't broke...don't fix it....

I would say that the size fits just fine for me, however it would be nice if the screen could fill the black spaces currently used by the black border.
Just to echo the general replies so far:
7" is perfect for me due to handiness and portability. Have a 10" tab I barely use (only at home).
Any screen size larger than 7" would make the overall device size too big for me.

The 7" is fine and fits nicely in my cargo pocket, if I could have more screen acreage in the same size package I'd go for it when my 7" dies but not if it has to be bigger.
