FAQ
What devices are supported?
All of them! Well....if you have NFC at least.
What if I get locked out and lose all my keys?
Not to worry! Tapping on the app icon on the lockscreen will temporarily disable the lock, allowing you to authenticate with your Gmail account.
What NFC tags should I get, and where should I get them?
Within the app you can find a section called "Purchase NFC Tags". Here you can find a couple different sites that sell NFC tags which I have found cheap/cool/interesting/share worthy.
Can I use my NFC Key for storing other data still? I want to use it to trigger a <insert random action trigger here>
Currently, no.
Bugs and Issues
I dont think there are any. Please let me know what you find.
Awesome. Look forward to it. Any way of implementing multi user with android 4.2? Nexus 7 and such. Each kid has a key ring? Sounds legit

If you mean each key will unlock you to a off user, that's currently impossible until Google releases some open APIs for account management.
What you can do though is install the app on all the seperate user accounts and set different keys for each. The child would have to switch their account before scanning the key, but it would - i think - give you the result you're looking for.

Can't wait to try this at home. I have a bunch of Andytags(.com) everywhere. Should be interesting.

Its really best if youre able to get them on something you have with you constantly. The idea is to make it secure, not to be a pain in the ass to unlock your device. Try sicking one on your wallet so you have to tap your pocket, or maybe in your belt.
Someone saw this thread last night and contacted us about getting some NFC hardware to go along with our app, so hopefully soon well be able to provide some nice and convenient tags instead of slapping stickers everywhere.

Great job on the app, can't test though cause I have no nfc tags.

You can pick them up for stupid cheap on that site i mentioned above.
Sounds cool. Is it possible to make this process even quicker? Like simply tapping on a tag to unlock the phone?
I think you could probably achieve that by removing your lock screen, but as far as a stock device with NFC goes, your device won't actually scan anything unless the screen is on and the device is unlocked.

Really like the idea but could you impliment the HFC hack so it works with screen off?

Havent got much (any) feedback about how the app functions. Has anyone actually tried the app out yet?

Seems like that is where most people are. Not too many people out there actually have NFC tags laying around.

The TecTiles are like having training wheels on. You'll be better off with NFC tags and a tag writer from the market. The regular tags won't have the limitations that the Samsung tags have.

Thanks for the info! Did not know there was a difference, what additional benefits will the NFC tags offer over the TecTiles?
Samsung TecTiles are Mifare Classic 1K NFC Tags. Any Mifare Classic (compatible) 1k NFC Tags will work exactly the same. You can use the Samsung Tectile app or any other NFC app with them. I keep a list of recommended apps on my website here: http://www.andytags.com/nfc-apps.html
The Tectile app isn't bad, but I believe most of the other apps to be better overall...

How many commands can you store on 700 bytes? For example, how much memory does opening an app and pushing 10 numbers require?
Thanks in advance.
hollywoodfrodo --- If you use a different NFC app, can you actually fit more onto an NFC tag? I've been playing around with a 6 pack of TecTiles and the TecTile app and I can only get 2-3 commands at most on the tag.
This doesn't let me make a single tag in my car to, say,....
* turn off wifi
* turn on gps
* turn on google maps/nav
* turn on bluetooth and connect to car
* text wife "On my way home"

I don't think it's the app rather than the size if the tag. I just ordered from tagsfordroid.com and from what I read the older tags just have less "memory" the or "space" than the newer tags.
There are numerous reviews and links all over XDA and the Internet, I think I read for 2 hours before I finally put my order in lol.

Either all 5 of the Tectiles I have are junk/defective, or they can only do the simplest functions (anything beyond 2 actions at once, and only specific things actually work otherwise I get the blank tag notification. Can't get Samsung to take them back or help me so screw it). I bought some 4k nfc tags from Amazon that do everything I put to the task.
Has anyone used their Xperia T to make NFC payments yet? Or used NFC at all? I found a digital passport app not too long ago. does this work?
I tried installing a patched google wallet app from modaco but the app wouldn't run, the app has been reported to work in the uk on rooted nfc capable devices. no idea why I can't get it working, feel free to give it a blast: http://www.modaco.com/topic/354635-region-device-root-patched-google-wallet-apk-15-r87-v15/
I have only used NFC to connect to my Sony speaker I got for Christmas, along with "NFC easy connect" app, it works fine, but I also tried to share a picture with my wife (sgs3) but it failed and my brother (GN4) failed, only thing I could share from phone to phone was a contact. Perhaps I needed an app to share pictures, but I thought the point of NFC was simplicity :/ not tried it for payments yet, don't think I will anytime soon until it becomes much more reliable!

As far as I know, you need to be using the same app to be able to transfer stuff between phones. The only thing I've been able to share between different programs was a web page (stock browser to dolphin).
But I agree with you that NFC needs to be better standarized to be practical.
I've google-beamed something to my mate's phone (SGS3) using NFC and Bluetooth.
Both needed to have NFC and Google Beam enabled for it to work.
I've also bought some Smart Tags and have used them without issue.

Where can you use NFC/Google wallet in the UK? I would if there was anywhere! Its not compatible with Visa wavepay or Pret a Manger is it??
I was trying to play around with Android Beam between my One and EVO 4G LTE, and I noticed that the EVO 4G LTE has an option to turn on Android Beam, but it's not on the One. I know that Google Wallet is disabled as well. Am I missing something, or has this been identified and responded to from Sprint/HTC?
I have been able to transfer data between my nexus 7 and HTC one just by touching them back to back and tapping the screen when it asked me to. And super beam app works as well, but I don't think it's necessary.

So then I guess that means Android Beam is enabled automatically. Good to know.

Android Beam/NFC only transfers are fairly slow. Great for small things, but not for larger files/videos. I'd recommend the SuperBeam/anything WiFi Direct solution for larger files. I think SuperBeam is a fairly good alternative/copy of Samsung's SBeam.
Wondered if anyone else has problems getting some of the tasked stuff to work with lolipop. I personally can't get secure settings plugin to work now with the pattern lock disable and re enable. any ideas?
Same issue. It'll "fix" itself to the correct seeing after a reboot. Haven't worked on it to figure out why though.

I appreciate it but I think I will wait on a legit fix from the devs. I guess that's the price you pay when you have the newest of the new.

No worries. It seems like the device admin isn't sticking (as mentioned in one of the links) When I toggle it then it toggles the pin. Until it's officially fixed I've resorted to using location trusted places (hope they do a Wi-Fi trusted location soon).

I actually removed some of the deeper system level tasks I've been using with securesettings in the past on my N6. I assumed many of them wouldn't work with the new OS and didn't feel like mucking around with them. If possible, the devs will figure it out eventually.
Thread revival!
Hey guys, I'm looking into buying a Nexus 6 and I was wondering if all of the tasker problems have been resolved by now?

Awesome. Thanks for the quick reply!
Anybody know why Tasker can't turn on WIFI tether through either the system or secure settings? I've tried this now on three different ROMs.
So I found a workaround---- visit the Tasker Groups at this post here.
Is anyone aware of a way in which one could have WiFi hotspot being turned as a result of a NFC tag being recognised?

The notes for the app say "Lollipop users - Mobile Hotspot is*not* working. Google has made breaking changes in Lollipop and it won't work even with root access. We're looking in to it currently". Perhaps there's another option available?
