quick question. does anyonw know how i could load any rom on win8? i recently upgraded and not the pc wont recognize the phone in bootloader. the pc sees the device and everything. i have the htc sync manager and downloaded the WIN7 drivers. not sure what else i could do.
The problem is that there are no ADB drivers for windows 8 yet becuase it is relatively new so you will have to find another computer running windows 7 or lower ( to a certain point )

Hello
I have a big problem with the drivers to my phone in both Vista and XP, when I connect my phone it is not recognized by the computer.
It shows up as an unknown device and I am unable to update the drivers, it says that I already have the best avaliable drivers.
I can not access the phone thru the computer.
I have searched for answers and nothing has worked I have even formated my computer but still the same problem.
Does anybody have any solutions or thoughts about this problem?

Have you tried downloading the Android sdk and directing Windows to the drivers supplied? It's weird you have a problem with XP, my Dell recognized the phone first time.

Yeah I have tried that it just says that the best available drivers are installed.
Yeah it is weird, it worked for a while and then it just stopped working after playing around with som tethering apps. But I thought that it would work again after formatting the computer, but no.
Check the Sapphire wiki in my signature - fezza added some info on how to fix driver issues in there yesterday.
Solved it by Hard-reset on phone, just plugged it in and BAM ...
Hey Gang!
Ok, Here's the problem, No matter which rom I run, I cannot get the ADB Drivers to load on windows 8 PRO. Used to run just fine on Win7 SP1, matter of fact it would install itself as soon as I plugged in the phone along with all the other Samsung usb drivers, now all i get is something called "Samsung File-CD Gadget USB Device" and it doesn't even install it as a phone. Any Ideas?
There have been issues from mobile driver to odin & now up to your post on win8. Donno what's the problem but it seems that what worked on win7 flawlessly for phones doesn't seem to be working equally well on win8. I haven't been able to find the solution too. Tough luck, use win7 itself. Can't help . Hope some one does...

Hello everybody, I have a problem with my i9000 and my laptop, I today i dicided to format my laptop and install win 7, it's not the first time I've done it, but this time I haven't been able to successfully install the drivers to connect the laptop and the phone.
I believe that I try it all, download keys, download samsung driver for mobile phones x86, x64, windows update, tried to find the driver using the system32 folder from another pc where the i9000 is properly detected, and noting seems to work.
The only thing i haven't tried is to change the rom, but if the phone was correctly recognised by the laptop yesterday, this shouldn't be the problem, but currently i'm using SuperNexus 2.0 rom.
If any one have any ideia of what to do next i'm willing to try it out.
Best regards to everyone
Solved, i don't know why, but when i enable the usb tethering, it instaled all the drivers correctly.
I am trying to unlock the bootloader on my T-Mobile HTC One using HTC's website. For some reason when I reboot the phone into Fastboot mode and connect the USB cable directly to my Microsoft Surface Pro's USB port I get a message that the USB device has malfunctioned. If I boot up the phone normally I am able to access the internal storage through Windows Explorer. I have HTC Sync installed. My Surface Pro has the public Windows 8.1 preview installed. How do I get Windows to recognize my HTC One phone in fastboot mode?
Pretty sure it doesn't work on Windows 8.1 at the moment

Says who? Windows 8.1 has no trouble recognizing my Nexus 4 in fastboot mode. There have not been any significant changes under the hood between Windows 8 and Windows 8.1. Can you clarify why beta status alone automatically means Windows 8.1 won't work with the HTC One?
I've not tried it, I'm just saying if you search on here you'll find a lot of people with various devices have had issues getting it to work in 8.1

Hi all,
yesterday i decided to go and root my nexus 6, but then i stumbled on a problem:
i connected my nexus 6 via USB to my windows 8 laptop, and it just said :
" the USB-device is not recognized
the last usb drive you connected has made a failure, and windows does not recognise your device annymore"
i tried the next couple of things, withoud succes:
- using other usb ports
- using other usb cables
- installing new drivers
- re installing drivers via devicemanager on windows (device comes up as unkown usb device with a yellow failure mark and code 43)
- checking if usb debugging was enabled (it was not, but didnt work enabled either)
- putting nexus 6 back to factory settings
- hooking it up to a linux machine (wich resulted in the pc not even recognizing a new device was connected)
i searched all over the web, but couldn' t find annything that worked.
i hope someone is able to help me fix this.
kind regards,
(ps. i' m sorry for my bad englisch, as it is not my naitive language)
To confirm, it doesn't connect on windows OR linux?
Is it same machine?
Tried different cables, ports etc?

I just connected my N6 for the first time to a laptop running 8.1. All I installed was the Google USB driver and Windows took care of the rest.
If all else fails, upgrade to Windows 10.
just install Wug's nexus root kit
it has proper guidance and links to install right drivers
i do have the latest drivers on my pc...
and it' s not an option to upgrade to windows 10, sinds i'm using a laptop from work.
I will try the toolkit, but i don' t think drivers are the problem. either the usb drives are corruted (but than it should work on linux) or the nexus is....
edit:
the nexus 6 is not available in the toolkit...

Install the naked driver using the windows 8 instructions from my thread.
Nexus 6 general > sticky roll-up thread > adb and fastboot.
