Ace battery problem - Galaxy Ace S5830 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello guys as you see i'm new here and i have a problem with my Ace battery. I rooted it like 6 months ago and I changed the rom a couple times thinking the fault of my battery drain was the rom, some roms worked better than others in term of battery duration, I don't have 3G so battery should stand more than most of users...
With stock rom 2.3.6 battery life was like for two days now with the current rom(jelly bean) doesn't go for a full day.
I wiped the battery stats a couple of times to see if that would make a difference but it seems not. Any help?

it is more or less the usual duration of a battery, if it is that the best you've seen screen shots where you see that last a day and a half, but also for hanging if hardly touch the phone, not having caught the g3 is a great battery saving but if you have programs running in the background in order eg facebook several such drums will continue to spend. So whether you use the ace? is what you get for no more battery

I only have installed whatsapp and play music, when I take out right of the charger (example) after 5 secs I lose 4% of battery right of taking out a wire, I will upload screen shots tomorrow when phone is full charged, also charging the phone takes like 10 mins...

By jellybean, do you mean cm10 ?

Yes is cm10 i for this ROM currently http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874920
Also realized that turning off the phone would continue charging the battery so that is a fix for the moment because I just turned it off and someone called and got mad at me... Lol
So right now I will take some screenshots during the day and will upload it in the night!

Look, you can never expect good battery life from the cm 9 & 10. Atleast for now. Change to stock based roms if you want a good battery life & one more thing, turning off phone doesn't charge it, it just saves a bit more battery

Cm9 and cm10 are in WIP,
Switching to stock or stock based rom will satisfy your needs.

Ok I will still upload the photos if any one want to see them, any stock rom recommended? (I prefer the ones that you can go a flash them not with Odin ones)

Upload the photos, no harm. For stock roms, I recommend The Myth 2 - Go Green & SGS II v10.1. Both are great !

I am using CM7-Apocalypse
My phone works for at least 36hrs with 24Hrs 2G and 12Hrs Wi-fi
I sometimes toggle between 2G and 3G as per my requirement but mostly it is 2G only.

Thanks guys I'm going to try these roms!

Actually my ACE is holding battery up to 1 day and it's fine. I'm using a lot of WIFI/3g, music player and texting. I don't know if this is some good score or not, but it is enough for me : )

Rom with the best battery life

I don't know If this thread has already been created if so please direct me to that thread.
So I used to think CM6 had the best battery life so I flashed 6.1.0 but not much battery life change so im starting to think that maybe it was actually cm 6.0.0 that had best battery life but im unable to find it so I can test it. So im here asking you all what Rom has brought you the best battery life to your cdma hero no matter if its 2.2 or 2.3

I would like to know what's your measure of "best" battery life?
try using aosp - jaybob's rom, best rom with battery life, used it pretty heavily and got 15 hours

My measure of best battery life is not losing 10% of my batery life doing nothing. I remember when my battery would be be at 40% I go to sleep wake up and its about 30%, now its dead by the time I wake up

don't need to flash the kernel since it's already in the rom. Just do a full wipe and bam ! I'm actually trying the latest one (june-08) but the june 4 version gave me that 15 hour
personally i have found that the rom you choose itself doesnt really matter, its more about your personal usage, i.e what apps u have running, cpu settings, etc. i usually get around 15-20 hours battery life with pretty heavy mp3 use, lots of texting, and about two hours or so actually on the phone. but i make sure i leave data/wifi/gps etc. off unless i need it. also, its a good idea to check and stop apps that automatically load with the phone that you dont need. imho the only roms that seem to drain the battery quicker are the sense based ones, at least from my own experience.

I was thinking about starting a new thread about this, but you are explaining EXACTLY what I am going through. I wake up today (after leaving my phone charging at night) and turn on my phone, and first thing I see is an 80% battery (this is a normal occurance). After literally doing NOTHING on it all day (except for a 30 minute call) it turns off by itself at 20%.... after 8 hours. So while I got 2 hours better than you, keep in mind that I did virtually nothing. What is worse about it is i'm supposedly using the "best rom" for battery life (AOSP 2.2. + battery tweak).
I've wiped battery stats (after reading the correct way to do it) and checked the health of my batter (reads as "good") and i'm still clueless. I'm wondering if I should even waste my money on a battery and hope that's it? I've only had the phone exactly a year and about a week so I'de be disappointed to know the battery lasts this short. I remember being on another froyo ROM (with the battery tweak) using it more than I am now going to bed anywhere between 30 and 50% which is about where it's at at lunch time now! I can't believe that i'm actually ok with the performance of my hero, it's just the battery that's killing me now !
And I plan on staying away from the GB ROMS until they get the GPS issue resolved. Let's just say that I was in Colorado a couple of weeks ago and my phone failed when I need it to work.... flashed froyo almost immediately when I got back (that's another topic)

[Q] Insanely fast battery drain

Hello,
My mom uses a samsung galaxy ace and the battery life is super bad.
When she takes her phone to work around 07:00 its empty at around 13:00. All she does on work with her phone is using whatsapp. When shes at home she plays fruit ninja, lets say her battery is about 70% at that time. She plays for about 20 minutes and when she stops playing its on 17%. When I charge the phone after the game it goes from 17 to 54% in like 5 minutes, how the hell is this possible? Searched google and XDA but couldnt find anyone having the same problem...
We already replaced the battery for a new one, didnt solve anything and i also flashed a new stock rom for her, didnt help either
Hope someone can help me!
Thx !
you run lots of apps which runs in background ? or you have many widgets? It might one of the reasons

Its normal with our ace that is goes straight up to 50-60% in 5 mins and after disconnecting comes straight down...
And for battery drain..whatsapp and fruit ninja uses too much of battery in stock roms...flash a battery friendly rom and ur complaint will b gone..

Flash Stocklite or Xperiatized ROM. Both are great + battery life is better
I'll go for StockLite v6 definitely .. You'll get awesome battery plus you'll also get a pretty good performance ..
Alright! Will try to flash a custom rom when i get home
Thanks for the replys!

Yeah, the battery meter on the Ace is faulty. And this battery isn't meant to be used constantly otherwise you'll get a huge drain. You can't treat a mid range like a high end phone. Its only 1350mAh, to get the usage you need, you'll probably need around 2100mAh like the S3. There's no such battery for the Ace so you can't.
If she turns off 3G and uses Edge, it'll double the battery. Its the same thing, just connection is slower. Now if she takes gaming out of the equation, she'll get around 7+ hrs of battery. Realize I calculated that without any widgets that require background processes, no live wallpapers, and no other things besides the main app you're using.
Also try to flash a new rom with good battery(can only be done if phone I'd rooted though!) And try Battery calibration (after flashing a new rom)
Sent from Galaxy Ace!
i have the same issue
i guess u need to replace ur battery
because i tried to stop all the apps and the services and Wifi and GPS and BT , almost everything
and its still draining .
You need to replace your battery with a new battery. Your current battery is nearly-dying. Your phone and ROM are both ok! Don't worry about it.
Just replace the old battery with a good quality new one and you will be good for another few months.

Best rom for Battery?

My suggestion would be stock gingerbread with speedmod kernel k2-12, i used to get around 4 days with normal use.
That sounds nice. Do you have heavy use of yout phone? Or only deep sleep all the time?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I use it for playing games, little music, calls and messaging. Sometimes connect to Wi-fi. With the same in ICS i get around 2 days.
okay thank you i´ll try. :fingers-crossed:
to set expectations straight, expect thought about 4.5 hours nonstop usage on gb with speedmod kernel.
4 hours on ics with speedmod
alk stock dont expect more then 3 to 3.5 hours.
you only get 2 days if you dont synch, barely use phone and are in good reception area with data switched off always.
Note general tips which can be found in the 10000plus threads about battery drain and how to analyse deepsleep issues

I don't know whether you like gingerbread roms or not , but till date the rom with which I got maximum battery backup with modeate to heavy usage was CheckRom Revo HD V6. This rom never lags , best battery life , and good speed .
If you are Gingerbread hater and ICS lover , then you can try Rocketrom v7( very good battery life with the included kernel , and would be much better with Speedmod Kernel (latest version) ). And then you have CleaNote V2.30 ( V3.0 has bluetooth glitches but its faster , if you are bluetooth user i would suggest you to stick with V2.30 ) , I personally love CleaNote because it has stock look and very fluidic :good: and as the tagline says 'You dont want any theme forced down to your throat '. KingDroid are good at speed but many have reported few glitches with it , you may try it if you like ( I dont like KingDroid , its sth personal ). If you hate Samsung's bloatware then we have Cassie's XtraLite rom for your rescue :cyclops:. Its a good rom too .
Well finally to end , I use cyanogenmod 9 and i update it everyday and with each update it gets more fluid and responsive, fast , smooth . i just love cyanogenmod9 ( waiting for cm10 ).
ParanoidAndroid are for ppl who love fun , who want to showoff their phone , the ability of their phone , the sweet hybrid interface of their phone , its for geeks :-0 .
Make a choice or try all of them :good::good:

I am using CLASSIC V1+15 toggle with MOD V1 which is ICS 4.0.4, and I also updated kernel to chainfire LRG, which is more stable and smooth, battery life is excellent comparatively to all other ROMs so far.
Which is around 4% drain per hour, I have (facebook, wechat, LINE, mitalk, whatsapp, email, exchange service, maps, mixed chinese input, make your own clock) running and leaving it on idle.

For the past 2 years of beeing a S galaxy user, I've quite looked for best battery life at top performance. Most of the time, battery life is no longer measured in "days" of usage , like we used to do with our Nokia phones. Nowadays, you ten to look at display (screen on) time , CPU profiles, and also connectivity patterns.
You can think of battery life as a factor of the above mentioned, however I think that display time is the most important parameter related to battery life. CPU profiles, connectivity, tend to work only when you have your screen on, and from my experience, you tend not to extend your usage time by more than 10-20%.
So as a conclusion, I did not expect a specific rom / kernel configuration to offer more "screen on" time but to offer a more faster way to do my tasks therefore I did more tasks in almost the same display time.
At the end of the day, it is more important how you USE your device rather than finding a "magical" combination that will increase your battery life.
KID + SpeedMod
+1 for GB (i was using checkrom but i'm sure any gb rom will give similar effects) with Speedmod.
If you make setcpu to 200mhz on screen off, i find it uses almost no power at all when it's on standby.
Like it was on 77% when i went to bed.
Woke up in the morning and it was on 78% (i was like lolwut).
Yay for setcpu.
But seriously though, any GB rom will give you considerably more battery life than any ics rom.

Best ROM+kernel for battery saving ? My battery is crazy

Hey there . I am a proud owned of LG o4x now . In the past I had Samsung Galaxy Nexus and I have never had any battery problems like the ones that I got now . I bought the phone few weeks ago and I have noticed that it's draining battery like crazy . I am using it just as I have used my nexus in the past , but the battery like is like 4-5 times shorter .
All that I am doing is :
Phone is always locked when I don't use it , so the screen is almost always off.
3g is always enabled
Facebook , Hotmail(e-mails receiver) and Viber are always one .
I play games like 30 min per day
I am using 4500mAh extended battery .
The battery is lasting almost 10 hours with this usage .
The is with LG's Stock ROM .
Few days ago I flashed Mokee CM10.2 with the built-in kernel and now its even worse .
Please give me a suggestion about a ROM + Kernel that may extend my battery , because I am really disappointed of the phone at this time .
Thank you in advance .

[Q] [Battery related] S3 Mini i8190L update from stock rom to custom, is it worth it?

Hi guys,
i recently sold my crappy Xperia Tipo (i goddamn hate it) and bought an S3 Mini, i love it, it's my first day with it, but i'm having serious issues with the battery life, it discharges too fast,
When i bought it i drained all the battery, then charged it (turned off) to 100%.... but still its draining too fast.
The phone is brand new... i don't know why it discharges so fast, it's on android 4.1.2:
Should i update to a custom rom? i would like to taste KitKat, that CM11...
Do you suggest it?

The battery is not our great ally here xD
But custom rom have bugs, no matter what ppl say.. they have and will have for a while...
IF you dont care about warranty and want to take the chance to improve your cell, yes, there are some good roms to upgrade Jelly Bean to KitKat or just update to 4.3
Personal, Maclaw have a great work done in his CM and Carbon (Don Like at all Slim or OAKP ) that work with kit kat, still in process; in the case of 4.3 dont know, i just did the jump from 4.1 to 4.4
I'm actually using Mac CM 11.0 and I have to charge it every night, the same as with a Stock ROM / based custom ROM. I'm actually doing around 5 to 6 hours calling and a little bit of Line/Whatsapp during the day.
It's faster, and I like Open Source ROMs the most, because of the design, but it's up to you.

hey guys,
the road so far:
I started rooting and installing TWRP recovery in my phone, then i updated to Maclaw Kitkat 4.4.2 and flashed gapps...
i noted that the phone improved just a little bit, because without the bloatware it's much better, i don't have any bugs actually...
From 5 am to 11.30 am it went down 3% without 3G, i went to sleep and lost 3 % that's a little bit better...
I suggest to do a full rom backup with TWRP and try a new custom rom, 4.4 or 4.3!!
leave this post open for if someone knows something else about the battery life.

Dont know much how long is battery life with the stock rom, bcause i started using the phone directly with the CM11 of maclaw. I am running the 20140120 version, and i am always reading about the news and comments of the last maclaw's release.. (think i will do an update soon..)
I see that battery life increase changing the governor ( abyssplug ) and the I/O scheduler ( sio ). I dont use wifi so much but often 3g data connection (chat, mail pushing, some internet surfing etc..) , listen music, make some photos... airplane mode during night!
after 1,5 day of use.. i should charge!
had an xperiaE before with a stock 4.1.2 jb and the battery life was greater... ( but is completely another device with another hw and os .. )

I'm kindda pissed of with the Xperia line, my friend had the Xperia U and smashed it across the hallway because after hours and hours of flashing new roms it always came down to poor...extreme poor performance haha.
What's the governor ?
governor takes control of which the CPU is used... there are a lot of threads about...or just google the word and you will find a lot of literature..
