Best ROM+kernel for battery saving ? My battery is crazy - LG Optimus 4X HD

Hey there . I am a proud owned of LG o4x now . In the past I had Samsung Galaxy Nexus and I have never had any battery problems like the ones that I got now . I bought the phone few weeks ago and I have noticed that it's draining battery like crazy . I am using it just as I have used my nexus in the past , but the battery like is like 4-5 times shorter .
All that I am doing is :
Phone is always locked when I don't use it , so the screen is almost always off.
3g is always enabled
Facebook , Hotmail(e-mails receiver) and Viber are always one .
I play games like 30 min per day
I am using 4500mAh extended battery .
The battery is lasting almost 10 hours with this usage .
The is with LG's Stock ROM .
Few days ago I flashed Mokee CM10.2 with the built-in kernel and now its even worse .
Please give me a suggestion about a ROM + Kernel that may extend my battery , because I am really disappointed of the phone at this time .
Thank you in advance .

Best rom for Battery?

Hey guys. I only want to ask which rom do you think is the bettest for battery life.
Thanks.

My suggestion would be stock gingerbread with speedmod kernel k2-12, i used to get around 4 days with normal use.
That sounds nice. Do you have heavy use of yout phone? Or only deep sleep all the time?
Sent from my GT-N7000 using xda premium
I use it for playing games, little music, calls and messaging. Sometimes connect to Wi-fi. With the same in ICS i get around 2 days.
okay thank you i´ll try. :fingers-crossed:
to set expectations straight, expect thought about 4.5 hours nonstop usage on gb with speedmod kernel.
4 hours on ics with speedmod
alk stock dont expect more then 3 to 3.5 hours.
you only get 2 days if you dont synch, barely use phone and are in good reception area with data switched off always.
Note general tips which can be found in the 10000plus threads about battery drain and how to analyse deepsleep issues

I don't know whether you like gingerbread roms or not , but till date the rom with which I got maximum battery backup with modeate to heavy usage was CheckRom Revo HD V6. This rom never lags , best battery life , and good speed .
If you are Gingerbread hater and ICS lover , then you can try Rocketrom v7( very good battery life with the included kernel , and would be much better with Speedmod Kernel (latest version) ). And then you have CleaNote V2.30 ( V3.0 has bluetooth glitches but its faster , if you are bluetooth user i would suggest you to stick with V2.30 ) , I personally love CleaNote because it has stock look and very fluidic :good: and as the tagline says 'You dont want any theme forced down to your throat '. KingDroid are good at speed but many have reported few glitches with it , you may try it if you like ( I dont like KingDroid , its sth personal ). If you hate Samsung's bloatware then we have Cassie's XtraLite rom for your rescue :cyclops:. Its a good rom too .
Well finally to end , I use cyanogenmod 9 and i update it everyday and with each update it gets more fluid and responsive, fast , smooth . i just love cyanogenmod9 ( waiting for cm10 ).
ParanoidAndroid are for ppl who love fun , who want to showoff their phone , the ability of their phone , the sweet hybrid interface of their phone , its for geeks :-0 .
Make a choice or try all of them :good::good:

I am using CLASSIC V1+15 toggle with MOD V1 which is ICS 4.0.4, and I also updated kernel to chainfire LRG, which is more stable and smooth, battery life is excellent comparatively to all other ROMs so far.
Which is around 4% drain per hour, I have (facebook, wechat, LINE, mitalk, whatsapp, email, exchange service, maps, mixed chinese input, make your own clock) running and leaving it on idle.

For the past 2 years of beeing a S galaxy user, I've quite looked for best battery life at top performance. Most of the time, battery life is no longer measured in "days" of usage , like we used to do with our Nokia phones. Nowadays, you ten to look at display (screen on) time , CPU profiles, and also connectivity patterns.
You can think of battery life as a factor of the above mentioned, however I think that display time is the most important parameter related to battery life. CPU profiles, connectivity, tend to work only when you have your screen on, and from my experience, you tend not to extend your usage time by more than 10-20%.
So as a conclusion, I did not expect a specific rom / kernel configuration to offer more "screen on" time but to offer a more faster way to do my tasks therefore I did more tasks in almost the same display time.
At the end of the day, it is more important how you USE your device rather than finding a "magical" combination that will increase your battery life.
KID + SpeedMod
+1 for GB (i was using checkrom but i'm sure any gb rom will give similar effects) with Speedmod.
If you make setcpu to 200mhz on screen off, i find it uses almost no power at all when it's on standby.
Like it was on 77% when i went to bed.
Woke up in the morning and it was on 78% (i was like lolwut).
Yay for setcpu.
But seriously though, any GB rom will give you considerably more battery life than any ics rom.

Ace battery problem

Hello guys as you see i'm new here and i have a problem with my Ace battery. I rooted it like 6 months ago and I changed the rom a couple times thinking the fault of my battery drain was the rom, some roms worked better than others in term of battery duration, I don't have 3G so battery should stand more than most of users...
With stock rom 2.3.6 battery life was like for two days now with the current rom(jelly bean) doesn't go for a full day.
I wiped the battery stats a couple of times to see if that would make a difference but it seems not. Any help?
it is more or less the usual duration of a battery, if it is that the best you've seen screen shots where you see that last a day and a half, but also for hanging if hardly touch the phone, not having caught the g3 is a great battery saving but if you have programs running in the background in order eg facebook several such drums will continue to spend. So whether you use the ace? is what you get for no more battery
I only have installed whatsapp and play music, when I take out right of the charger (example) after 5 secs I lose 4% of battery right of taking out a wire, I will upload screen shots tomorrow when phone is full charged, also charging the phone takes like 10 mins...
By jellybean, do you mean cm10 ?

Yes is cm10 i for this ROM currently http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1874920
Also realized that turning off the phone would continue charging the battery so that is a fix for the moment because I just turned it off and someone called and got mad at me... Lol
So right now I will take some screenshots during the day and will upload it in the night!
Look, you can never expect good battery life from the cm 9 & 10. Atleast for now. Change to stock based roms if you want a good battery life & one more thing, turning off phone doesn't charge it, it just saves a bit more battery

Cm9 and cm10 are in WIP,
Switching to stock or stock based rom will satisfy your needs.
Ok I will still upload the photos if any one want to see them, any stock rom recommended? (I prefer the ones that you can go a flash them not with Odin ones)

Upload the photos, no harm. For stock roms, I recommend The Myth 2 - Go Green & SGS II v10.1. Both are great !

If you are running a rooted OB, download "No-fills CPU Control" from the Play Store.
Set the governor to "interactive" or "performance", and the scheduler to "row" or "cfq".
Press "Apply", then exit.

He didn't say much (probably not enought to help him a lot) but at least he said that he uses a ZGK so in this case your reply is not completly right. Some (I think most) us OndemandX by default and that is already a good one, better than interactive. I think best might be LionHeard, but that might be different with each kernel and for sure how he uses it.
BTW 5/6h might be OK, at least for the first CM10.1 versions, I think even with the latest versions 9h is very good, especially if you do some gaming. So maybe don't look first at the governor, select the right ROM first. Maybe a newer version, a different one or maybe just CM10, I heard some of the newest ones are rather battery friendly.
check in Battery Usage if the phone have a wakelock, use BetterBatteryStat to find what is a wakelock.
I gonna try a official ICS rom , maybe this be helpful?
Of course. All CM10, CM10.1 roms are battery drainers!
hi,
i support the post above me, try IZS or Marvel roms, they have great battery life. i used them both and with friendly usage i get my phone running all day from 7 am when i disconnect it untill midnight and even more.
by friendly usage i mean : about 15 short calls, around 1 - 2 hrs of wifi, few small DL, texting a bit, around 1/2 of gaming.
this is what i get with the roms i mention above.
BTW dont forget if your OB is old enough, there might be a problem with the battery, since all batteries have limited charging cycles, depend on the batttery maker and so on... bla bla bla...(dang it reminds me to search for a battery in nearby shops here lol)
My OB have 5 months Hmm i use my OB only 4 texting about 150/170 ina day and music about 2-2.5h ina day. Now i use cm 10.1 and this is terrible.. with this batterylife. I thinking about ICS , i think it can be better than CM for now.

150 messages a day? and 2 hrs of music? dang bro you type a lot, so suerly when screen is on, you drain battery, and music also drain power,.
yesterday i travel for 6-7hrs which in that time i went out home with fully charged batt, used a bit of wifi and music for around 2 hrs and 2-3 short calls, the rest of the time the phone was idle. my batt went from 100% down to 58-60% in all of the travel hrs.
so my conclusion is that: be smart as you smart phone, and do compromises with usage in order to get great battery life. oh and its not so bad to have a charger or that handy battery pack that you can use to charge your phone from.
since im not a heavy phone user most of the day when im out at work, i manage to get up to 24 hrs of battery per day. but when i mess with my phone on travels or so, i get around 9 hrs of usage until i get to 45-50% with the Marvel and IZS roms.
Ok. Thanks dude. Im a student i typing so much But thanks a lot i try a IZS

I need your advice about Galaxy S III Mini ... please

hey everyone
i want to buy Galaxy S III Mini ..
i need your advice about this phone ..about any problem or bug in it
i hear that it battery is so bad and drain fast and need charge every 8 hours ..is that right ?
please i need all information about your experience of this phone ..( network - camera - speaker - how fast -...etc)
and is there any phone better than this phone cost between 280-300 $
thanks forward
Hello and welcome,
I am no expert but have experience on several android devices of the mid range. From Xperias to the galaxy advance and the htc hd2.
When I purchased the s3 mini I didn't expect any major difference from previous devices, well was I wrong this is definitely a fast smooth operating device with no major issues bugs or lag. Only I found missing was the ambient light sensor where you need to adjust brightness manually.
My battery also is fine lasts easily one and a half days with normal use, only thing I found eating lots of batter was wifi.
My humble opinion.
thanks ..
how many hours battery last with screen on when drain from ( 100 % to 0 % ) .. with normal use like browsing internet or send messages ?
because i read a lot of comment on websites that the battery is don't last 1 day with normal use !!!
please i need advice from many people who use this phone to know if there is any common problem that don't appear in all brand ?
i am waiting your opinion
thanks
Yes but allmost every android phone has this issue it also depends if you are using 3g, apps running in background, etc.. also there are many custom roms that are based on samsung s3 mini stock rom that has much better batery life.

Battery is really great, I'm constantly on 3g, wifi and mobile data on, chatting on whatsapp, browsing, texting, few calls, maybe a game or two for a few mins here and there and it always lasts about day and a half, maybe with sync it would last me a day or under with usage above... phone is smooth and never had any problems with it

really fast phone,no lags, smooth, no bugs until now(i have it nearly a motnh). battery lasts easily 1 1/2 days with normal use(wifi, browsing etc). nice screen, bright colors , nice pictures, very nice video reocording... overall o very good, money worth choice...

[Q] [Battery related] S3 Mini i8190L update from stock rom to custom, is it worth it?

Hi guys,
i recently sold my crappy Xperia Tipo (i goddamn hate it) and bought an S3 Mini, i love it, it's my first day with it, but i'm having serious issues with the battery life, it discharges too fast,
When i bought it i drained all the battery, then charged it (turned off) to 100%.... but still its draining too fast.
The phone is brand new... i don't know why it discharges so fast, it's on android 4.1.2:
Should i update to a custom rom? i would like to taste KitKat, that CM11...
Do you suggest it?

The battery is not our great ally here xD
But custom rom have bugs, no matter what ppl say.. they have and will have for a while...
IF you dont care about warranty and want to take the chance to improve your cell, yes, there are some good roms to upgrade Jelly Bean to KitKat or just update to 4.3
Personal, Maclaw have a great work done in his CM and Carbon (Don Like at all Slim or OAKP ) that work with kit kat, still in process; in the case of 4.3 dont know, i just did the jump from 4.1 to 4.4
I'm actually using Mac CM 11.0 and I have to charge it every night, the same as with a Stock ROM / based custom ROM. I'm actually doing around 5 to 6 hours calling and a little bit of Line/Whatsapp during the day.
It's faster, and I like Open Source ROMs the most, because of the design, but it's up to you.

hey guys,
the road so far:
I started rooting and installing TWRP recovery in my phone, then i updated to Maclaw Kitkat 4.4.2 and flashed gapps...
i noted that the phone improved just a little bit, because without the bloatware it's much better, i don't have any bugs actually...
From 5 am to 11.30 am it went down 3% without 3G, i went to sleep and lost 3 % that's a little bit better...
I suggest to do a full rom backup with TWRP and try a new custom rom, 4.4 or 4.3!!
leave this post open for if someone knows something else about the battery life.

Dont know much how long is battery life with the stock rom, bcause i started using the phone directly with the CM11 of maclaw. I am running the 20140120 version, and i am always reading about the news and comments of the last maclaw's release.. (think i will do an update soon..)
I see that battery life increase changing the governor ( abyssplug ) and the I/O scheduler ( sio ). I dont use wifi so much but often 3g data connection (chat, mail pushing, some internet surfing etc..) , listen music, make some photos... airplane mode during night!
after 1,5 day of use.. i should charge!
had an xperiaE before with a stock 4.1.2 jb and the battery life was greater... ( but is completely another device with another hw and os .. )

I'm kindda pissed of with the Xperia line, my friend had the Xperia U and smashed it across the hallway because after hours and hours of flashing new roms it always came down to poor...extreme poor performance haha.
What's the governor ?
governor takes control of which the CPU is used... there are a lot of threads about...or just google the word and you will find a lot of literature..
