Power Button isn't responding! - LG Optimus Black

I installed JellyBam recently and the power button was working fine...after a while the power button started working with some difficulty...now i cant lock or unlock and im using the volume wake up setting.
Can anyone tell me how to make the button work again?
I read many threads about similar problems but couldnt find the solution.
Thanks.

Are you sure it isnt related with the button phisically?
Im asking because i never heard of such problem.

Are you having phone earpiece problems?
Try another rom

Yes, when I plug in the headphones they keep on plugging out.

....
i have the same problem, but it's true for all roms that i try.....maybe it's just a hardware problem....
anyways, i suggest remapping the gesture key as the lock button....at least the only problems you'll only have is that you have to do this everytime you flash a rom and that this will not work as the power button; meaning if you shutdown your phone, the only way to turn it on is by connecting it to a power source...
..then again, you can just get it fixed at a shop......
hope i helped a little

For Those With Problems Entering Bootloader

Feel free to add this to the FAQ, I'm only making a thread of this because I know alot of people have found themselves unable to enter the bootloader using the Down Vol + Power Button combo that is normally supposed to work.
For some odd reason, it seems as if the volume button in some cases is swapped in hardware functions as it relates to the use of the phone when no software is present to run it.
Hence, if your down volume button doesn't work, try using the camera button + power button to enter bootloader mode instead.
Even if you've just Task 29'ed your device only to find that you can't enter bootloader mode normally, that method should work.

I'll be darned, it does work! Thanks Poet' !!!
Otherwise, I had bad volume button issues (stopped working, ROM independent), that I solved by shoving the mini-usb power plug into the mini-usb slot really really hard for 20 seconds or so and wiggling it a bit while pressing against on the volume key on the other side.
I know it sounds strange, but it really worked. My keyboard issues also stopped after that. Theories?
WOW! My volume button is broken, and couldn't flash ROMs from microSD (didnt bother me tooo much), but it works again This is a god send! Thanks!

Thanks for the tip, but its physically phucked! Slight crack near the volume button, but only the volume button doesent work, sometimes it does work if pressure is applied to the case near the crack, but rarely Not too bad though, i can live with it, after all, we can change volume with the 6.5.X top bar as its not fidly, or even in 6.5 by disabling HTC notifications (which i hate anyway)
I did try ramming the mini usb power plug into it, different pressure while pushing it, moving it while it was inside etc, no such luck and i am a brute with this phone. I love how it can take a drop/punch/scratch. Built solid
a silly volume button doesent really decrease my fuctionality, or doesent do much to stop me changing volume! lol cant complain.

Glad to hear it!
It seems like I have to redo the fix technique about every 1-2 days, but it seems to always solve the problem. Very odd!

Dudes with volume key unresponsive problems:
See my post in the general forum about how to solve the volume key problem. At least for me, turns out that very slight *downward* pressure on the USB port solved the problem. Crazy, I know.
ask 4 a favor
Hi guys,
is there any possible i ask (maybe) the same problem?
maybe i had the same problem here. it wont enter to the bootloader. my phone just won't turn on, i already try to use the power button and volume button (not working), try to use power button + Cam button (won't work either). btw when i charge my X1, the illuminations light didn't show up, when i try to charge w/o the battery only red light on the power button, but once i put the battery again the lights turn off. is there any possible that my phone totally dead? thanks guys, appreciate for your help.

My volume down button stopped working on my phone at one point, and it had nothing to do with the ROM - it was broken in stock, it was broken trying to start recovery, etc. It could be just bad buttons.
If you have Minimoto installed in a ROM slot in Safestrap, you could try restoring the stock ROM and see if the volume buttons work there.

I have no clue. All I know is that my volume button stopped working in all ROMs, so I assumed that it was a physical problem with the button rather than a software problem with the ROM I was running. I've read other Droid 3 owners complaining about broken volume buttons, so it seems to be a common problem.
Sorry.
There are apps that have volume controls that will work (they do for me). I use an app called "Quick Settings" that allows you control over lots of volumes.

It is an app, so, no, it does not. But search the play store - maybe there is something.

(Q) Screen stops responding?

So across all roms including stock and cm based my touch screen will randomly stop working and i am forced to reboot the phone via the little pin hole method unless i am missing a hardware key reset combo? Anyway the screen turns on and everything looks like it works except the fact that none of my touches register at all? How do i fix this issue? Its not a big deal when i am at home with a pin or pencil but sometimes i am away from home and cant reset it...

Well, just hold down on/off button and power up button for few seconds. You will feel a vibration. It will restart
Hold it a bit more and it will switch off with three vibrations.
I guess you should get your phone checked. It seems to me hardware problem. it could be a bug too but chances are slim!
Secondly, try clearing dalvik and cache but I am afraid it wouldnt be of help!

Volume up and power button does nothing for me at all... Also would sony even look at it if im running a custom rom with an unlocked bootloader? Doesnt that null the warranty>?

Just go on stock rom n relock your bootloader. Sony might ask and make sure you say nothing about rooting, custom rom or anything. Just it's not working well should be the answer.
Secondly, try volume down +power for few seconds when phone is on. Even try volume up+down +power for few seconds.
Make sure you hold these buttons simultaneously.

Try holding one of the volume buttons while pressing power. A friend of mine had the same problem and we found this workaround accidentally.
No idea why it worked.

[Q] Power button issue

The power button doesn't seem to register when pressed. If I hold it down for a while it will turn off the device. It will also turn on the device so I'm pretty sure its not hardware. The power button won't turn off the screen or wake it up. Any idea's?
More info
Also, if I plug in a usb cable it wakes the screen.
Did you open up the Kindle at all before this happened? I replaced my motherboard a while back and it's really easy to dislodge the power button during the process of putting it all back together.
No it hasn't been opened. It works to turn it off completely or to turn it on if its off. It doesn't seem to register normal pushes though.

If I install BeanStalk-4.4.4065-20140919-tate.zip the power button functions as it should. when I install cm-11-20140414-UNOFFICIAL-tate.zip the power button does not function properly.

Try a later version of CyanogenMod. The older ones had more bugs that hadn't been worked out by Hashcode yet, and now we have official builds for them. I'm running the 11-20140806 nightly and it's pretty stable. If one ROM works and another doesn't, it could be just a bug in the ROM.
Yes that's it. Flashed cm-11-20140925-NIGHTLY-tate.zip and all is well. I find that interesting. I know bugs happen but no one else had the same issue. Thanks Ph0enix_216
